The Buddhist precept of avihiṃsā or ahimsa calls for the reverence of all living creatures. Forensic pathologist Bodhi King’s efforts to walk this path might just get him killed.
Bodhi’s restorative solo camping trip to the Chesapeake Bay takes a sad turn when he comes across a dead bird on the beach. Then another. And another. When he reports the avian deaths to a ranger, he learns there’s been a mass die-off. The ranger enlists Bodhi to autopsy the birds over his objections that he’s not a veterinary pathologist.
Bodhi discovers that the birds are dying from lead poisoning, an unexpected and puzzling cause of death. As he probes to find the source of the toxin, he stumbles on to a smuggling ring. He ingratiates himself with the smugglers to learn the details of their operation and bring them to justice.
Will he succeed or has he flown too close to the sun?
Flight Path is the sixth book in the Bodhi King forensic thriller series by USA Today bestselling author Melissa F. Miller.

The messed up pronouns just got my hackles up, and my instincts are correct. It's a trend which has led to a 4000% increase of girls wanting to change sex, when even Sweden's now closed institutions admit there is no such thing and that it was only experimental from the get go. Europe is banning it as dangerous. Liquid castration, which is what they use to block puberty, causes growing bones to be porous. Microfractures and pain happen forever after. Most children are not truly gender dysphoric. Most children are traumatized from being suddenly yanked away from their parents under the guise of child "protection" for huge Federal Social funding programs. Counseling is not an option here in Canada or Australia. Parents rights are not recognized at all. I called the Representative for Children here in West Coast Canada (Totalitarian British Columbia). The woman listened to me, bored as ever, then told me to have a nice day.
I really liked this series otherwise. Innocent children from single parents, particularly in order to weaken American and Canadian and Australian Aboriginal people without means are the most exploited. All of this is from Marx's writings. It is precisely the uneducated "woke" whose ideologies are here today and gone tomorrow that innocent children go along with. The state is destroying children and families, dreams, future generations prevented because all of this sterilizes them. At some point in the future, I'll read the conclusion to this series, which I really liked. But I know that though we'll be compensated for our children's being lead to the extreme of getting carved up and destroyed. Yet just one drop of subtle yet toxic ideology is causing the most far reaching destruction of humanity. Children are not mature or experienced enough to make a decision that affects their current and future physical and mental health. It contributes to the psychopaths' mistaken conclusion that there are too many people on our planet. It also makes grooming obvious, as girls who self-inject with male hormone (which they do to apparently indemnify the adults making a killing from these treatments) suddenly have sex drive. I noticed that American girls are flocking to Canada to have liposuction, which is marketed as "body masculinization therapy." They are mendaciously told that fat will not grow back in areas where males don't tend to gain fat. Our city streets are full of under age teens that the state allows to choose for themselves to continue living on the streets and provided with endless drug paraphernalia, no attention from police. Parents are prevented from interfering. Our children are committing suicide and helped to die via overdose via opiates at the West Coast!
Delighted to read the latest Bodhi adventure! Melissa is an amazing author who keeps the adventures fresh, exciting and page turning. I love Bodhi's journey, personal and professional.
I always love reading a Bodhi King novel since I know I am going to learn something new. Melissa Miller really does research for her novels and this makes a fascinating story. Flight Path does not disappoint. The story line and plot are created this time with Bodhi trying to refind his place in the world. He says, “I can’t find the good anymore.” Other characters are trying to find or change their place in the world as well. The setting takes the reader to Chesapeake Bay, a place with lots of birds, some who bring Bodhi gifts after he feeds them nuts. It is also where lies sunken a Ghost Fleet of World War II concrete ships and an old Army then Old Air force base now converted to a National Park Service with a bunker containing old equipment for grinding crystals for radios. In this novel, the setting is very important to the action and the author has used it in a very purposeful way to further the plot. The characters Red, Crystal, Mike and Devon, that Bodhi meets are interesting, each in their own way. The reader learns that each one has their own desires and motivations which conflict with each other creating the plot. Bodhi finds a dead bird and reaches out to Devon the Park Manager where he is camping. Devon shows him more dead birds and the hunt is on for Bodhi to determine the why and the how. As I mentioned before, it is a facinating story to read.
Bodhi King is a complex man. As a forensic Pathologist he deals in death; working in homicide investigation, he sees the dark and evil side of his fellow man. While these pieces fit, Body is also a practicing Buddhist. As such he seeks the to avoid things which are damaging to self and others and aims to live in a way that is clear, truthful and uplifting.
Seeking a path of right mindedness, Bondi has decided to pull away from his daily existence and reconnect with himself and his core beliefs. To do this he takes a break from his involvement including work and personal attachments. Leaving all thoughts of death and crime behind, Bondi says goodbye to his relationship with Bette and heads out on a camping trip to rediscover himself.
What he discovers is dead birds, a concerned park ranger, a captive inventor, a sketchy group of kayakers and a wayward Air Force Pilot. Because all living things matter, because he is a 'doctor', but most of all because he seeks to correct the suffering he encounters, Bondi becomes involved crimes and corruption without any tether to support.
Once again, Miller has proven that Bodhi 's beliefs will lead him into situations that keep the reader involved and on edge.
FLIGHT ..PATH # 6 ...Melissa Miller Mike hearing the words his lungs had acute silicious, how did it advance so rapidly was a mystery to the doctor, Months were not enough time to finish his project, his legacy, a place in history now a different path was needed. His daughter and the extreme. plans she has made, he is unaware of. Bodhi as he tended his garden realizing his life needed the weeds, decay and debris removed so he once again could see the good in man and world. His job of forensic counseling, finding the cause of death brought closure for loved ones. Right now he was just seeing darkness, wanting time alone. Realizing it is what he prefers to see, is it darkness or light, and justice. Great plot, with several themes, poisoning, medical, murder also a more personal insight as to Bodhi. In spending time with him and reflecting. Well done, interesting to the last page. Given ARC for my voluntary review and my honest opinion
This is yet another captivating book by Melissa F.Miller. Flight Path is the 6th in a series featuring Bohdi King, a forensic pathologist. Bohdi, a Buddhist, brings new ways to see thing and solving mysteries. This time Bohdi, while camping along the Chesapeake Bay finds out from the local park ranger that a lot of birds have been dying. After using his skills he finds what he thinks might be the cause. As he goes searching for the source he stumbles into a situation that pits his Buddhist beliefs against preservation instincts. You will get hooked early in and have trouble breaking away from reading. Thanks to the author for the advanced copy. All that was asked was a review. The author has also come through with each new book better than the last. Hoping for a new one soon.
Bodhi decides he needs to take some time to himself, and while he is away he discovers dead birds nearby, and finds that this is not a new problem. Not one to sit by while something like this continues to occur, Bodhi does some research to try to uncover what is killing the birds.
Mike, a dying man, is being kept in a bunker by a blackmailer, and ordered to complete a project, no matter the health implications. Bodhi and Mike meet when a doctor is needed, putting Bodhi into a potentially dangerous situation.
As is the case with the books in this series, there is always more than one thing happening, and I love trying to figure out how it'll all come together. I liked this story, and I love Bodhi's calmness in any situation. I wish I was that way! I look forward to reading more of his stories.
I'm a huge fan of Miller's books and I have to say that of all her series, the one featuring Bodhi King is my favourite (by a hair, maybe two).
This latest entry is no exception. The plotline was really interesting, the twists really successful, and the characters, as always, engaging. As an added plus, Aroostine Higgins made a guest appearance, which just made everything better. I know that I stopped breathing at least three times when the action was at its most intense, I couldn't bear to put it down, and I was both emotionally exhausted and content at the end.
This was a great read and I can't wait to read what comes next.
Flight Path is one of the most enjoyable books I have read. As usual Bodhi King is a master at solving foul play puzzles. Why should you read this book? If you like whodunits - this book is filled with seeable and unforeseen mysteries. If it is a peaceful novel you are looking for then Flight Path is your book because Bodhi King is always in search of peace and to be in touch with his inner self. If you like touchy feely books then Flight Path a bit of that too. As usual Melissa Miller has written a thriller that keeps the reader captured until the very end.
Another totally captivating Bodhi book! As usual, Ms. Miller's obvious extensive research shows in this Bodhi adventure in woods and on the Bay - the Chesapeake Bay. Bodhi is questioning his path and takes himself off to meditative camp site where he bonds with a crow and a ranger. There is medical intrigue, nature, history, greed and best, a cameo appearance from another favorite character. A one afternoon must finish read.
Bodhi looks to take some time to contemplate if he's on the path he truly wants. While hoping for a quiet meditative retreat, Bodhi finds himself in the middle of a sinister scheme. This was a quick read but very detailed as always. Bodhi, Mike, Red, and the other characters are wonderfully written and their story has some twists and turns. I enjoyed this novel and look forward to Bodhi's next adventure!
Bodhi is always an interesting character. As usual with Miller's books, the story just flows. I really liked the character of Devon and the care taken with their part in the story. I'd love to see them in another book. Most everything I would say about the book would be a spoiler. There are many good reviews already for Flight Path.
This is a very entertaining addition to the series. Bohdi King is a very complex, interesting character. This plot kept me interested from the beginning to end. It’s very twisted and a lot is going on. This is a very good series and highly recommended. This honest review is based on a complimentary copy from the author
Melissa Miller has done it again with another wonderful book with Bodhi King. So many things that needed to happen to solve this mystery and it happens all while Bodhi is trying to figure out what's next in his life. I enjoyed everything about this book.
Fairly light reading, except for the suspense! The story moved rght along and the mystery became revealed at the end. Interesting and enjoyable, glad I read it.
I enjoyed this book. It is the 6th book of the Bodhi series. I highly recommend any and all books written by Melissa F Miller. I have not been disappointed in any of her books.
Love bodhi character, always an interesting read. I liked the most of the series except for one book. Got the initial 2 as a free read liked so I ordered rest of series. Try it out. Enjoyable read.
Communicating by crow had to be the most interesting twist. Bodhi being involved in an investigation of death, human or not, was definitely in character.
Heading out to clear his head on a camping trip, Bodhi encounters more than he bargained for. His calm methodical approach to a problem has him climbing down a rabbit hole! Well done!
