Jake Ord Thrillers #2

Never Look Back

Rate this book
Retired secret service agent Jake Ord wakes up with a bad feeling. Something has spooked the sheep on his quiet Northumbrian hillside . . .

SUDDENLY BULLETS ARE WHISTLING PAST HIS HEAD, SHATTERING THE PLASTER OF THE WALL BEHIND HIM.

That was the sniper’s first mistake.
He missed.

THEN A LOCAL MAN FROM THE VILLAGE IS FOUND BURNED TO DEATH IN HIS CAR.

Was it just a case of mistaken identity? What’s really going on?

Jake teams up with MI5 agent Anna and Dixie, his late wife’s best friend. Together, they must race against time to stop the assailant.

THE LATEST ACTION-PACKED THRILLER FROM DAN LATUS

MEET JAKE ORD, an ex-spook who does not dwell on the past. Why would he? It holds few attractions for him. He just wants some peace and quiet in his retirement. But characters from the old days keep cropping up. And they always bring trouble. Luckily, Jake is a man who can handle himself. And he’s not afraid of getting his hands dirty.

Excellent thriller involving former and current police specialists...

I really enjoyed this story, great characters and storyline. Easy to read with good descriptions of places and people, I liked the author's writing style and will definitely read more of his books!

I thought this would be a continuation of book #1 in the Jake Ord series. I was disappointed that the only character from the first book was Jake. Both books were good and well-written, but I still wonder what happened to Magda in "No Place to Hide".

Great read but not a sequal.

I have read some of the comments by fellow readers who were disappointed about the lack of continuity between the two books, characters deleted, no obvious links, but I think, if you read this as a stand alone book, it kind of works.

The central character Jake is still there with his last history but in the UK now. There are things happening that Jake and his friends are dealing with but doesn't always go to plan.

Just enjoy this gripping detective story for what it is. Dan Latus is a very talented writer and has a whole library of books from this creative genius to entertain you. Have fun and keep reading.

I really enjoyed reading this second book on the series but wondered what had happened to Magda from the first book. Fast forward - she reappears in the third book in the series and this confused me even more. It would have made more sense if Book 2’ “Never Look Back” was Book 1, “No Place to Hide” was Book 2 and then “Last Resort” Book 3. Then this series would make sense. Once I got over the confusion I read avidly and would fully recommend this series.

Make Ord Thrillers is a complete joy. Latus keeps your mind alive

Take a retire, add another retire, blend in a beautiful nearby and you have a case! Latus doesn't let you rest because it's tough to put down. Both volumes were terrific!!!

Good paced thriller with plausible characters and plot

Anyone who likes authors like Lee Child, Peter James, Harlen Coben and others will enjoy this style of plot with flawed and plausible characters

Old spies, secret plots, retired also dangerous

Jake Ord, retired spook, a holiday in Majorca turns into an attempted assassination.. Is it just wrong place wrong time? Was it a lucky escape.. Or just coincedence?

Interesting story

Didn't keep me on the edge of my seat, but was both interesting and intriguing. I would this author again.

Twists and turns

You're never quite sure if some of the characters are good guys or bad ones. But this is descriptive tale and it will hold your interest.

Never a dull moment

From the very beginning this book kept me intrigued. This is a really good story. I'm hoping there are more than the two Jack Ord stories.

Enjoyed it, but was a bit confused as it appeared to be a “ prequel “ to book 1 in so far as explaining why Jake’s cottage had been burnt down , but no men was made of the diamond robbery !!!!

NLB is your basic, no-frills spy book. Not a thriller, mind - it's really pretty low key for all the the bodies that hit the dirt. I can't say I believed in the plot, but since it took so long to evolve that didn't really matter. A pretty good read and free on KU. ps Dixie, the spy who didn't come in from the cold, is quite the character.

English thriller

Very exciting thriller reminiscent of 007 kind of intrigue without the overt emphasis and predominance of sexuality but naughty enough.

A Reverse Chronlogy

Had me going. Where's Magda? What happened to Bob Cunningham? Who's Ellie? When had he rebuilt his cottage?
Well - this episode all happened WAY before the story told in the previous (1st) episode. That answers those questions and Bob did come along to be introduced toward the end.
Good story, good novelist and great action. Looking forward to mire Jake Ord, moving forward I hope.😁
