Sinatra, a notorious federal marshal, is drafted into a domestic black ops group. Their mission--arrest the untouchable.
Book One - The Supremacy License An international terrorist slips through the East Coast and takes up residence inside an impregnable mountain chateau--within American borders but beyond legal reach. Her name is El Gato and she's a top priority for both the DEA and FBI. Sinatra and his team are needed. However, this terrorist holds the key to Sinatra's past and his future. He and the mysterious El Gato have tangled before...
Book Two - Wild Card The celebrated governor of Maryland has been compromised at the MGM Casino in National Harbor. His situation is dire, and the implications for the country are brutal. Sinatra and Beck, secret agents for the Joint Federal Investigations Commission, are activated and sent undercover to the high-stakes poker tables. Just how much is Sinatra willing to wager? For America, he'll risk it all. But for a corrupt governor?
Book Three - Paradise Royale There's treason brewing in the ranks of the Defense Intelligence Agency. Vital documents are pilfered and the Sinatra team is activated.
In pursuit of the thief, Manny and Beck will rampage through paradise and clash with a mysterious foreign agent, a beautiful woman chasing secrets and toying with Manny's heart. The sparks that fly could set the entire Caribbean on fire. Has Sinatra finally met his match?
Sinatra is a collection of the first three stories in a new series. No, they aren't about Old Blue Eyes, the Chairman of the Board, FRANK Sinatra. The series centers on Deputy US Marshall Manuel Martinez in his part-time gig as an agent for a clandestine Government unit that doesn't exist--not officially. Sinatra is Manny's code name, which he selected himself. You see, Sinatra is very American. More about this later.
Manny's day job as a US Marshall is unusual enough on its own, as Manny doesn't always play by the rules. We discovered this in the other series of stories, the Mackenzie August collection, in which he appears, also written by Alan Lee. Manny lives with Mack, and Mack's infant son and his father, and Mack's fiancée, or maybe she's his wife. Another part-time resident at the August home in Roanoke, VA--not you're usual choice for mystery and intrigue--is Mack's father's girlfriend, the Roanoke sheriff.
Manny/Sinatra is tall, athletic, Hispanic, and drop-dead handsome. He loves everything about America, which is his adopted home, having come to Roanoke via Argentina, Porto Rico, and Los Angeles. That's a long story in itself, that you'll need to read the stories to learn.
Manny drives a performance edition Camaro, and wears clothes made exclusively in the US. The ONLY thing at which America isn't the best is coffee.
I'm not going into a lot of detail about the stories themselves, and there are three in this collection and they're all unique. The first story sets the stage for the series, with Manny being recruited to work "off the books" on special assignments as they arise. Helping him is an NSA analyst, Noelle Beck, who is as opposite from Manny as one can get. Where Manny is confident to a fault, Beck is unsure of herself other than in her analyst and technology duties. She is young, single, attractive in a bookish sort of way, and she's a devout Mormon. Her faith helps keep her relationship with Manny professional and platonic--at least so far.
No, this is not "serious literature." It's not going to win a Pulitzer or Nobel prize, but it's entertaining hell in a James Bond sort of way. Lots of action and adventure. Lots of heroes and bad guys. Lots of fun.
THE SUPREMACY LICENSE The marshal and the sheriff vouch for Manny though they don’t know why He likes to work in the shadows, dressed in the finest clothing. Lives in a house with three men and a toddler why, they were his only family. Details of what they offer, the government hates messes, and she is called in, they never ask how or why, just gone. They are a black op group. The subject they want to know more about, known as El Gato a woman Manny knew before, another reason they wanted him on board. Just to see him, he doubted it. She was into blackmail, espionage, governments secrets. Intriguing plot and good character in Sinatra his code name.
I read book 1 and part of book 2 but I'm not willing to invest any more time. If these books are intended to be mysteries, they miss the mark and read like Keystone Kop misadventures. Manny Martinez, a detective and avowed lady's man, is also a super hero. In book one, he jumps out of a small aircraft and lands on another small plane just below the first. In book two, he sits at a high-stakes poker table when he learned to play just the day before and verbally communicates with a colleague while all the other players can hear. Too much of a stretch for me.
Sinatra will make Bond look over his shoulder at who's gaining on him!
Great fast-paced action thriller. Manny makes a great lead character and makes the Justified U.S. Marshall look like a small town sherrif. Alan Lee does a great job in creating believable problems for Manny to overcome. Like all action heroes, Manny has has weaknesses but he never gives up and fights for the "American Way"!
A refreshingly different hero who's true blue through and through. Good storylines, great character development and plenty of over-the-top action. Perhaps just a touch too much of Superman in the main character to be utterly believable but what the hell, it's a work of fiction not a biography. The three books were very enjoyable and engaging and left me wanting more. Definitely an author to follow
I read the MacKenzie August series first. Wish there was more! Then I read through Manny 's. Wish there were more as well! 😉Both series are excellent and I throughly enjoyed them. It was refreshing to read books where the characters have strong moral codes and yet were as imperfect and infallible as we all are.
Seldom does any writer even come close to the creative fast-paced, constant actions readers will find here, not to mention them most cleverly crafted humor and play on words anywhere! A bit extreme in reality but totally forgivable in a new benchmark of enjoyment!
A real thriller mystery. Bouncing around all over the place. Not disjointed but permanently moving. The main character Manny/Sinatra is a sweetie but tough, and Beck his partner is too but again differently.
I loved every page and every adventure they had together. You should read, you won't be bored I promise you that. Far too much going on.
An absolute blast from the get go. Crazy and extremely likeable characters, even some of the bad guys. I could see these stories as a successful movie series.
Having received the 3 book collection I found I had read the first 2 they stood a re-read then book 3 topped the job off.a most enjoyable interlude the main character keeps you guessing right to the last
Readers wanting relief from typical FBI/CIA jargon filled stories, will enjoy this box set. Each one is creatively done with different storylines that supply the reader with enjoyment. With touch of humor and romance, author writes the main characters within the spectrum of a martyr and a traitor.
Short, predictable storyline of a James Bond merges with Jack Reacher character to become an indestructible black ops agent. These stories could be good with a bit more work!
Manny “Sinatra” Martinez is THE ultimate All-American USMS agent but with a delicious twist! He’s better looking than George Clooney, harder than an MMA artiste, and with better hair than Beyoncé! I loved him for his chivalry but it was his language skills that nearly killed me! You too will fall in love with this millennial metrosexual extraordinaire ROFLMAO
