USA Today bestselling author WJ Lundy delivers a page-turning thriller of justice and deceit.
A world turned sideways by pandemics, war and debt. Nations make the extraordinary move from individual rule to corporate outsourcing. The change came quick, and not without controversy. Some complied, some just wanted to be left alone.
When noncompliance becomes criminal one man finds himself on the wrong side of the law.
John Warren has sacrificed in his life but is now resigned to a quiet existence in a secluded home in Northern Michigan. All of that changes when he is falsely accused, with everything taken from him. Now John Warren will fight to prove his innocence and to save the Country he loves.
He can never go home, but he can still ensure his life amounts to something.
THE RIVETING STORY OF GUERRILLA WARFARE FROM THE AUTHOR OF DONOVAN'S WAR AND WHISKEY TANGO FOXTROT
W. J. Lundy is a still serving Veteran of the U.S. Military with service in Afghanistan. He has over 12 years of combined service with the Army and Navy in Europe, the Balkans and Southwest Asia. W.J. is an avid athlete, writer, backpacker and shooting enthusiast. He currently resides with his wife and daughter in Central Michigan.
I developed the Whiskey Tango Foxtrot series from notes and ideas I had put together while deployed to Afghanistan. I had been jokingly asked how we would defend against a zombie attack.
I wanted to tell a story that portrays the military that I know, that displays our actual capabilities. These are my thoughts, I hope you enjoy them, and thank you for reading.
I write Fiction, I take full responsibility when my predictions come true or hopefully do not. I mean shortly after this was published Virginia did try to pass sweeping gun ban legislation and Sheriffs talked about exactly what would happen if my story plot was to happen.
We all know that Facebook injected $410,000,000 into helping certain counties to help them "flip" Corporations literally picking winners.
Guess it's not that far fetched. But the book is really not about that at all, and was more inspired by what is quickly becoming a world ruled by the connected elite. The rest are either the haves and have nots.
In the world of The Occupation: There is no more republicans vs democrats or Capitalists vs communist. It's just a world of people having their liberty slowly auctioned off to the highest bidders. No black and white, red or blue. it's the haves and have nots.
I won’t rate this book. I lost my interest after reading the prologue. The setting of the world, my take on the world building of the book, where big corporations took over the world, anti global, anti socialism, anti communism…everything is black or white, nothing else exists.
The typical and unfounded fears republicans build in people to manipulate them, come to life in a story. Only the way of the American, which suggests that freedom equals the rights for guns is the way of life in a nutshell. And the stereotypical, one dimensional world view of an American against the enemy, that is the rest of the world of course, was boring and tiresome, reminding me of the shit show the hopeful now retired president of the states represented.
I wasn’t interested in reading about such a constellation, so I couldn’t rate the book.
If John keeps writing faster than our lives are living it, this series will continue being futuristic view of our society instead of a dystopia in which we are heading.
Excellent start. The best part of this author's books are the characters. He makes them stand out in subtle ways. They never appear to be so over the top you roll your eyes and say really? They are your neighbor, A work colleague. They are believable. I like that.
Favorite part: (Happened in Washington DC last week) “Your cities have already been lost, patrolled by thousands of Homeland soldiers in blue hats. They are nothing but slaves. There are checkpoints keeping the people out of select neighborhoods, fences around your government buildings and institutions, making them inaccessible to the people. Why? Because when the time came, there was no one there to enforce your laws. The policemen, not unlike yourself, allowed chaos and insurrection.
At the beginning it seemed to be a political book that fell along party lines, but as the plot progressed, I realized this is about the loss of freedoms and the end of the Constitution and democracy.
Even though I vote opposite of you (obviously), I'm also a vet and retired law enforcement. If this became a reality, I would do everything in my power to fight against the occupation and protect those who couldn't protect themselves.
Very good story as always. Lundy is a master storyteller with the knowledge and experience to bring it to life. I wouldn't be surprised to learn he's a master bush master as well. At the end of the world, Lundy will always be welcome in our bunker.
I don’t know how I missed this amazing book when it came out. I’ve been an avid reader of Lundy for probably 8 years now. Even though I’m not American, this book …… man it hits home, and is a huge eye opener. Especially with the state of the world at the moment. I’m not gonna say much about the book, in detail. The characters were so well written. The action was continuous, and engaging. It was just so clever how everything was put in place. I was just so impressed with this book. I would absolutely love to see more of John Warren. I highly recommend this book. It was just so engaging.
A true warrior, a true patriot never breaks their oath. John is both and forced into a war he didn't start, he takes it to the enemy the only way he knows how...locked and loaded. Set in a near and all too possible future, this story is not only exciting and extremely well told, it is also a warning to what our country might become if we don't stay vigilant and proactive in making sure the constitution is not ripped to shreds. Highly recommended read!
John Warren, home from the war at last, he just wants to be left in peace but, it’s not to be when Homeland security comes to collect his guns and those of his neighbors. Events happen that force him to run and John finds himself in a situation beyond his control, he’s been branded a leader of a rebel group that is fighting homeland security on a mountain and they’re kicking homeland butt. I lost some good sleep because I didn’t want to stop reading and I think you’ll find that true too.
Being a huge fan of Whiskey Tango I have come to expect great story telling from Mr Lundy, he has not disappointed me. A story that is sadly relatable and unfortunately all too real a possibility, brings characters you can believe in. Have to say my favorite bit of humor has to do with roof repairs and a down comforter, I laughed out loud!
It’s real enough to back up a lot of conspiracy theories, and accurate enough to call for a stand against the insidious strategy of removing the building blocks of a functioning society. Are we there yet? No. But this paints a picture of ex military members having had enough and the know-how to make a stand for right.
This a great and on point “story”. A well written and suspenseful beginning to a series, it lays out the events leading to a possible apocalyptic event. I enjoyed the characters and humour, though tarring a feathering seems a little tame for the punishment of a traitor.
This book is well written, but frightening. It's frightening because it seems Mr. Lundy has a crystal ball that can look into a very possible future. John Warren could be one of millions who don't want to be dragged into the lunacy taking over our country; but when he is, he fights for what he feels is right. Looking forward to the next installment.
As I read this book it felt like it could be the recollections from someone in our not so distant future. It’s scary how real it feels. Action packed and really good visuals from the amazing storytelling.
Another great read by W.J. Lundy! I am continuously astounded how the author keeps coming up with exciting ways to keep the reader enthralled and on the edge of your seat! He definitely has written a great start to what one can only hope that there is more to come!
What I liked was how much I disliked the circumstances in this eye opening book! Accurate description of good & bad...as in the future of North America... Thank you Mr Lundy, I won't be able to sleep tonight... Molon Labe
Good read and all too chillingly possible giving the level of despotism being shown by our government today... let's hope there are more people like these than there are the homeland puke types
The book was very good and told the story of probably could possibly be on the verge of coming in the near future. Makes you really think about all things happening in our country now. Scary to realize this could easily be in the works. Great writing!
Obviously fiction, but for how long? Extremely well written, replete with patriots who have had enough of the erosion of America and the shredding of our Constitution. Great story but need more.
Great read, wide open from the get go. Like having the pedal to the metal on a curvy mountain road that you’ve never traveled. You don’t know what’s coming, or if you’ll keep it on the road. Highly recommended.
This one is keeping me turning pages I have enjoyed now I have to wait 4days for the new booking will check in first thing on the 31st thank you Mr Lundy you did it again
As usual, Lundy writes an excellent book. The area, storyline, and characters fall right in line with the Uper attitude . Those in the 906 definitely have their own way of doing things.
John warren gets taken into The fight against homeland
John warren is a military vet special forces captain who is originally a special forces sergeant medic. He came home to Sherman and wanted to lead a nice quiet life.
This was a good, entertaining story. I liked the premise of the story. The story and characters were likable. Although it could have been edited better. I will read the next installment.
Wow, yet another superb, edge of your seat, page turner! W J Lundy can do no wrong! From the first page to the last, this will grip you! Sadly it’s unbelievably true, especially the way things are going in the neutered west! Thank you!
The premise of corporations taking over world governance is odd and I almost stopped reading in the prologue. I glad I continued, though, because this is a great book about US citizens finally revolting against an oppressive regime.
I've read a lot of Lundy books over the last few years and as always, the occupation series of books has started fast and kept my attention to the end. I will end up buying and reading this whole series.
