Difficult times calls for the best of friends in this brand-new novel about starting again, from Amazon #1 bestselling author Hazel Taylor. Jenna, Cara, and Kimmy have been the best of friends since the day they all decided to pledge a sorority together at the University of Miami, more than 20 years ago. They’ve been through it all over the years, a deceased husband, divorce, death in the family, and many other trying times. All were difficult, but none prepared them for what was about to come. The three best friends and mothers were now facing their children leaving the house. They were about to officially become empty nesters. With nothing but work and weekend book clubs to look forward to, the women are excited when an invitation arrives in the mail, informing them of an upcoming anniversary event for their sorority chapter in Miami, Florida. With nothing to lose, the three friends embark on a weekend getaway to ease their emotional hearts, reconnect with old friends, and get a new sense of hope. However, a weekend of reminiscing and reconnecting with old friends may prove more damaging than healing. Secrets are revealed, past betrayals are brought to light, and new romantic prospects enter the picture. With all their children now gone and nothing but time, Jenna, Cara, and Kimmy are now at a crossroads in life and the journey is only beginning.
This was an interesting first book in the new Fly Away series about three sorority sisters whose children have left the nest to spend a year in Haiti. Jenna, Kimmy, and Cara decide to go to their sorority's 25th reunion in Florida, only Cara never got an invite and no invite means no admission which we will find out more about in Book 2. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.
Another new series from Hazel Taylor. Once again, the series has a good solid storyline; characters that are in the early stages of being fleshed out; and twists and turns that are just beginning to set the pace. This is Book 1...can’t wait to see how Book 2 reads! (I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book and am on the fence with his one.)
A promising beginning to a new series! We peer into the lives of three college friends who face empty nests as their adult children embark on a year in Haiti. There is a sorority reunion for the ladies to look forward to in Miami. However, there are some highjinks afoot regarding invitations and hints that all is not what it seems between the three….on to Book 2!
More like a novelette, if that. Started off interesting, with three former sorority sisters watching their 18 year old kids get ready for a life changing experience. They plan to attend a reunion, but one of them is not invited. Then the story abruptly ends.
The three star rating comes from finding out this was the first book in a series of six. And worse than that, the second book does not come out until the end of January, the third book the end of February etc. Oh well, it was a nice read while it lasted… Only nine chapters.😒 silly me.
Ok, I’m thankful I didn’t throw my Kindle when I got to the end. I had forgotten that this was Book 1 and I was going to have to wait for “the rest of the story”. Hazel Taylor has done it again and brought a story with that perfect cliff hanger. Anxiously awaiting Book 2.
Young men and their feelings. Loved the three protagonists Loved the plot Can't wait to see where this episodic tale meanders to a conclusion. On to book 2
