Work-Love Balance

Rate this book
The customer always comes first, but IT consultant Brady Jansen loves to hate Nash O’Hara. Except the fine line between hate and attraction means sometimes Brady can’t help it when he crosses the boundary from professional and personal.

Recently divorced, workaholic Nash knows he’s hard to please. When the smart-mouthed IT consultant he depends on to keep his office running offers a no-commitment hook up, it seems like exactly what he and Brady both need to get through a busy summer at work. No one has to know about their arrangement.

But the more time they spend together, the more secrets they have to keep from the people around them, and from each other. The lies are piling up, until it’s hard to tell who’s fooling who. If Brady and Nash want to find the balance between work and love, a little honesty will go a long way.

Work-Love Balance is a 67k contemporary MM romance. It’s hot enough you’ll want to make sure the air conditioning is on in your cubicle, and heartfelt enough you’ll want to smack both characters before the end. HEA guaranteed.

I was swooned by this story and adored it. It had all the feelings a good balanced, emotional romance must have.
This story is told by both men's different views and I loved them hard.
Snarky comments, rude, witty, funny, sweet, you name it and it’s here.

Brady Jansen has an IT company and one of his clients is Nash O’Hara of the company Out & About. There is always something going on there with their network, laptops, mobiles.

Nash yells and is demanding of Brady and Brady serves it up with a snarky attitude and a smile.
In all this commotion Nash kisses Brady hard to shut snarkiness up. Dang, that’s the start of a sexual relationship. The age-gap doubts in Nash’s head are all banged out of his brain in a blink.

It’s just hooking up, not dating, no expectations. Both don’t want anything serious. Just now and then and only for the sex. Just to escape their busy lives and enjoy each other.
But they fit so well and spend more and more time together. It all feels so honest and natural.

Nash's two kids live most of the time with his ex, Dominic. When he claims Nash's time and pressures him about his failure towards his children Nash has to make a heartbreaking decision.

Both Nash and Brady are lovable guys, Nash is chaotic and after his divorce, also feeling confused, guilty, and lonely. Brady has a big caring heart, in the bedroom is quite the dominant one. There are some delicious encounters to enjoy. Both men were vulnerable and endearing.

This whole story breathes love and compassion. Nash and Brady connect wonderfully.
The side stories as both their companies and families are greatly entwined in this story.
At times it was so funny I snorted hard. There were hot af and heartbreaking moments.
All inner dialogue and struggle were honest, with purpose and best intention.
A smoothly written, captivating, well developed, very lovable story which I surely want to recommend!

Very definitely my favourite book from Allison so far.

Everything about this one just worked for me.

Two different but compelling characters who worked out that they were pretty good for each other, a set of cute twins, a bit of angst and steamy moments of emotional vulnerability.

Loved it. Bring on Doug's story next!

This was good. I liked that it had the office romance feel but was so much more. I don’t think I expected that so much more but it was welcome. The feels weren’t too overwhelming though, and it still had that fun office romance, age difference romance feel.

It was a little hard reading about the separation from the kids and how little time Nash got with them. The divorce and the kids read so real to me. I’ve lived this and this is how it was at times and it sucks for all involved. I loved, loved, loved that it was all still a learning process to him though and he was totally invested in his children regardless of everything else.

The best part about this book though was how these guys helped balance each other. The age difference worked here, because Nash could see the path Brady was headed down, he could also finally see the path he’d been on, and well, they just helped each other see.

Oh, and it was extremely hot. Really.

This was a solid read and I look forward to the next book in the series.

Work-Love Balance is my third book by Allison Temple, and it's my favorite. I had such a delightful time reading it.

I did think the over the top ex drama could've been toned down a bit, but otherwise, it was nearly perfect.

If you love a good steamy office romance, definitely give this a go!

This was cute. Not insta-love but definitely fast love. The conflict at the end felt a bit silly. I can’t say I feel very strongly one way or the other but no super major complaints. This is the first I’ve read by this author and I would try more. I enjoyed her writing. That’s the only review you’ll get out of me at the moment. 🤷🏻‍♀️😄

So look. In this case it's totally me. Not the book.
I really enjoyed the first maybe 30% of the book. I'm always in the mood for a little office romance even if this one ain't strictly an office romance. I really liked both of the MC's and most of the secondary characters.
Then stuff happened. And I couldn't handle it. The last 70% of the book stressed me out. Like crazy. The way Brady was working himself to the ground made me stressed and I was just a spectator off it all. Seriously, I need a nap or five after reading this book.

Ahhh. I loved this book. It was certainly not what I was expecting.

I thought it was going to be a light and fun romance between two coworkers and it turned out it was SO MUCH MORE than that.

Nash is in his 40s and recently divorced. His ex is what I would call a manipulative bastard, using the kids (a pair of 7 year old twins) to his advantage, but sadly, this sounds way too familiar in this society. ANYWAYS. Nash’s problem and the reason his ex gave him for the divorce was his lack of time and ability to leave work at work. He’s a workaholic trying to get his company to succeed and it affected his marriage.

On the other hand we’ve got Brady, a guy on his late 20s owner of his own IT company of two people. Because he’s trying to keep his company afloat, he obviously have problems disconnecting from work. That he has a phone he answers no matter what 24/7 does not help.

Brady’s company is the one Nash uses for all of his IT problems, and the tension between the two of them has always been there. So when one heated argument turns into something else, sparks start flying and we begin this beautiful journey where they make us believe that their relationship is purely sex.
LOL.

So! This is the first book by Allison that I read and boy did I love it! The problems were so real and made me feel for both our MCs, but at the same time, the author gave me the fluffiness I was waiting for.

A very enjoyable read and I super recommend it. I will wait for the next book in the series because I need to know what happened to a certain someone!

Work-Love Balance by Allison Temple takes a hard look at getting the priorities in life straight and making sure that love, not guilt, guides your motives. Poor Nash really messed up his first marriage. He worked way too hard on a project he felt very strongly about and while he tried his best to be there for his husband and their twins, he definitely failed spectacularly. Now, divorced and still not really over the entire thing, he is not looking for another relationship, so when Brady agrees to warm his bed with no strings attached, it seems like the perfect solution. But things get complicated. Nash is wracked with guilt predominantly because his ex never lets him forget how he left their marriage and how he feels their kids take a back seat to Nash’s job.

A slip of tongue when you think your client is no longer on the line could end badly but Nash really can’t regret it too much when it puts things in motion for him to land in bed with Brady -- a hot, newly divorced older man who relies heavily on his IT consultant.

Nash and Brady were extremely hot together even from the first pages when it’s nothing more than a work/client relationship. Brady is completely clueless in such an adorable way when it comes to technology and I really enjoyed watching Nash rush to his rescue. But, when things started to heat up it just got more and more frustrating. Between Brady’s ex and the lack of communication between Nash and Brady I was being driven crazy. Despite that I did enjoy this though -- the author writes in a way where you can’t help but devour the story in one go.

All in all this was a solid four star read for me. This is perfect for anyone who enjoys age gap relationships with having a second chance at love and plenty of scorching hot scenes to keep you satisfied.

Allison Temple's Work-Love Balance is cute from the start. And from there it just gets better, as emotions become involved.

This is a delightful boss/employee romance between IT guy Brady and the extremely IT challenged Nash. When we meet Brady, we get to see his likable and funny side. As for Nash, we soon learn about his divorce, as well as his struggle to balance work and time with his kids.

Nash has always been a micro-manager, never able to devote time to his family. And Brady has always been too much of a workaholic himself, trying to get his business off the ground. Neither man has been open to love. Until now.

Their relationship is super sweet and romantic, as well as full of fun banter. These are two men who have always put work first, and seeing them develop a relationship with each other is super enjoyable. Adding to the fun, there is plenty of humor to offset the actual seriousness of each man. It's a great mix, creating a hot, opposites attract romance that I couldn't put down.

Their story also includes an ex husband, two enjoyable twin boys, and a whole lot of tension. The family moments with Nash are very well written, with the reader able to see both sides of the issues.

Told in alternating first person pov, the reader becomes fully immersed in the emotions of both characters. The writing style is wonderfully smooth, soothing, and comforting.

Work-Love Balance is a great story of trying to balance your life and finding a way to prioritize better. Allison Temple delights in this sweet and easy read. I love it all and highly recommend it.

I loved it!

While I admit to having several books by Allison Temple in my overflowing digital library, Work-Love Balance is the first one I've read – and I loved it.

This is an age-gap story that doesn't beat you over the head with the 14-year age difference. The story is told in first-person, alternating between Brady and Nash. This is pretty much my favorite type of first-person POV story as I enjoy getting both sides of a relationship.

The blurb for the book is great so take a look at it. Brady is a young entrepreneur running his own IT business. Nash's company is one of Brady's customers. While they both know that it's not a good idea to get involved with each other, they can't seem to help themselves.

Nash is a divorced father of twin boys and has shared custody with his ex. Both Brady and Nash are workaholics but somehow, they manage to find time for each other. Problems come into play when Nash's ex tells him that one of their son's is struggling in school.

There are some really hot, sexy scenes in this book – like scorching hot – but the story is also very compelling. The writing is smooth and easy to read; it really flows well. I loved how Brady and Nash's relationship evolved and how they worked through their problems.

I'm looking forward to reading more books from this author and more books in this series.

Work-Love Balance manages to be a fun and sexy story despite some of the more sombre issues encountered in the book such as parenting post-divorce and mental health.

Nash and Brady, our two main characters, fit the opposites attract trope on the surface, but it soon becomes apparent that they are both on the same life trajectory - risking burnout from overwork / no life outside of 'the office'. They're just at different stages. Nash, as the older of the two can see where Brady is heading because he recognises his own past behaviour and gets to experience some of what his ex-husband must have felt during his work-related absenteeism. This fuels his very serious approach, which is totally at odds with Brady's snark, yet the pair have undeniable chemistry. Brady is a man on the edge (not the good kind!) as he's a young business-owner who doesn't feel he can say no to clients so he is at their beck and call all times of the day and night, which begins to take its toll on him emotionally and mentally. Fortunately,

Work-Love Balance is absolutely for you if you like a hot age gap story with a serious older man and a funny, snarky younger partner with a genuinely sincere streak a mile wide. My only slight reservation is the melodramatic ex-husband and the way in which his actions force the angst. All's well that ends well, though, and fortunately, Nash and Brady do manage to balance each other out.

Brady and Nash are that special kind of character that are both adorable and real. Both workaholics and sometimes at odds with each other - especially when Brady in his IT role has to remind Nash to plug in his computer. And of course animosity leads to attraction.

I loved the banter and how these characters support each other. Even though Brady was younger than Nash, it felt like he had more maturity in the relationship. He was trying to keep up with his own IT business (the football phone!), fend off panic attacks, and make time to see Nash, while recognizing his feelings and wanting to support Nash so Nash could be there for his kids. I loved when he asked his dad for help because what's smarter than knowing when you've hit your limit?

Honorable mention goes to Patrick, the blunt intern, but oops - "Did I say that out loud?" I want to see his story!

At the beginning of this book Brady and Nash were not just uncorrectable workaholics, but two men slowly losing control of their lives. There've been moments they seemed close to crawling out of their skins, battling anxiety. It was saddening to witness, but thankfully, at some point, when they needed an escape from their problems, they started running toward one another. Just for a few hours of sweating away all their concerns, *wink*, and losing themselves in each other. I liked the way they found comfort and understanding in one another, their encounters becoming more than the occasional humping between the sheets.

So, they had their bubbles of relative calm, away from the outer chaos, and I was really excited to see if they'd be able to make their relationship work in the real world. They definitely had the chemistry and the complicity. I was curious to see if they'd be able to make a drastic shift of priorities or whether or not finding the perfect 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸-𝗟𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝗕𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 would be enough to guarantee them a future together. I have to say, they didn't disappoint!

Really great book. Recommended

Really digging this author's voice! Very relatable, breezy and engaging. Brady and Nash are two lovely MCs with clearly distinguished voices. Brady is young, confident with a swagger you don't often see. Loved that he went for what he wanted. I truly wanted to jump into the book and throttle Nash and was so upset that I put the book aside for a bit. But loved dynamics between the all the secondary characters, particularly Harpreet. Good representation of women at work. Maybe an F/F with her??? Anyway this ended with a beautiful yet understated yet kick-ass HEA. (Oh and Nash should have punched Dominic in the mouth!)

DNF. I made it till they actually went to bed together. About 38%. I was loving this book, but I just wasn’t up for the younger guy bossing the older guy. I know there are younger more feminine guys who are tops to tougher older men, but it just doesn’t work for me. I didn’t rate the book because it was well written and I was enjoying the story. If this doesn’t bother you I recommend it. The funny thing is I was checking all the reviews to make sure this wasn’t a Daddy book. I don’t usually like those either. Oh, well on to something else.

I really enjoyed Work-love Balance - it was light but had depth and the main characters were likeable, usually I will prefer one character over another but with this book I loved them both. The banter was good, the chemistry was terrific and the sex was HOT. There was some light angst but it realistic and really fit the story. I am looking forward to the next book in this series. Definitely recommend!

2.5 stars rounded up

This was my first book by this author, and I admit, I only tried it because it was free on amazon. This was definitely a good story, and I liked the leads. I only felt the "I love you" came a bit soon and suddenly (it's not insta-lust, but still...). It's a nice opposites-attract, frenemies-to-lovers romance. Definitely will read more by the author!

I loved both Nash and Brady and how their relationship started with snarky banter when Brady would have to fix Nash’s IT problems at his business. They couldn’t help be attracted to the other. Brady’s confidence was good for Nash, breaking him out of his post-divorce funk. Nash’s work experience was good for Brady, whose own business took up so much of his time. I appreciated how the 3rd act conflict didn’t last too long and was resolved like it was. (No thanks to Dominic, the ex. What a selfish tool.)

This is my first time reading this author, but it won’t be my last.

It's official! I will read everything Allison Temple has to offer.

I loved her Seacroft series but >Work-Love Balance is something else. I completely fell for Brady and Nash and their story. The best the '0posites attract' trope can offer.

It had everything I enjoy: likable MCs, scorching chemistry, angst, heat, age gap, twins!!!. I couldn't put my kindle down.

I can't wait for Doug's story and hoping Patrick the intern gets one too.

Loved it!

I LOVED Nash and Brady’s story! It’s been forever since a book has grabbed my attention so much! I was totally on board with forgoing an extra two hours of sleep so I could finish! But this was so worth it! I really loved the chemistry they had together and how they each unknowingly supported each other through their life stressors. I loved how Brady was able to get Nash to dial back his involvement in his day to day work operations, and Nash didn’t even realize it. In turn, Nash was such a support system to Brady in his own business struggles. What I think I loved most was when Brady stood up for their relationship with Nash and wasn’t going to take no for an answer. How he realized their life could adjust, for the better, to have it all. This book truly hit so many high points for me. Age-gap, boss/employee structure, bossy bedroom style, and super hot chemistry between the main characters! I’m really looking forward to the next book in this new series, and can only hope we can get a glimpse of Nash and Brady again!

If hot and steamy office romances with an age gap are your trope, then Work-Love Balance by Allison Temple is for you! The IT consultant gets passionately involved with the business manager and sets your Kindle on fire!

Nash runs the Film Festival office and is technologically challenged. His divorce six months ago has left him grumpy and a complete workaholic (although that was a big part of the reason for the divorce). He’s a control freak who overthinks every decision and tries to balance his hectic work life with finding time for his twin sons. It’s a daily battle until he hears something he shouldn’t from his IT consultant…

Brady runs his own IT business and even though he’s young, he works his butt off to prove he can handle the demands of his clients – even being on call 24/7. One of his clients is Nash – a hot ‘daddy’ kind of guy whose grumpy demeanour only serves to turn Brady on.

The dynamic heat built between these two is scorching and multi-layered. It’s easy to identify with both men who are very flawed and authentic – right down to their awkwardness, humour and family dramas. The character development through the story is superbly done with the guys slowly evolving over the course of the read.

A little bit of nerd, a little bit of humour, a little bit of angst and a whole lot of heat make Work-Love Balance by Allison Temple a fantastic office romance read!
