“Figure out how to control all the rage inside you before it destroys us both.”

After reading Phenomenal X last year, I was dying for it’s sequel. It’s felt like the wait has been forever, but I was so happy to get the conclusion to Anna and Xavier’s story!

Due to the events that took place at the end of Phenomenal X, Xavier and Anna have a rocky few months ahead of them. It’s not an ideal situation, but it’s nothing they can’t handle. Or so they think. Being back in X’s childhood home and neighborhood brings nothing but bad news. Not only that, but Anna is stuck still traveling for work and X can’t be by her side. It’s stressful for them both, but they know as long as they hold tight to each other, they’ll be okay.

X has changed since he’s been with Anna. He’s in love for the first time in his life, and although he doesn't feel deserving, he knows Anna is the only girl for him.
Our love- it’s unbreakable.

Anna is one tough chick. She is going through a lot on her own, but she still finds it in herself to always be there for X. Xavier’s story continues to break my heart. How he was damaged by his past, it guts me. I admire him for being able to come from all that and make something of himself. Any issues I had with him or the things he did that bothered me, I could easily overlook because I understood the why. That makes all the difference.

This couple’s journey is far from easy. It’s a bumpy ride and there were times I was nervous to see how it would turn out. I knew Michelle wouldn’t let me down, that the ending would be fantastic, but while reading, I was a wreck at times. Xavier and Anna are one of those couples you can’t help but love and root for. I love Michelle’s writing and enjoyed the conclusion to X and Anna’s story!

3.5 - 4 ★'s

This is the final book for X and Anna and I wish I could say it was as good as the first one but it breaks my heart that I can't. It's still a good story....it's just that the plot is a bit overused and cliché and I really wanted something unique and fresh for these two.

It starts out with X getting bailed out of jail for his assault on Rex in the ring. He doesn't have to go back to jail but he still has repercussions...one being to stay away from the "wrestling" company, Tension, for three months even though Anna will be working for them. Also, there's a rather large fine and that leads to them having a tighten up their purse strings.

description

Which means no hotels...instead Anna suggests that they stay at his family home that's just been sitting empty. However, it is the source of all X's nightmares so why on Earth would Anna have him stay there? Not to mention it's in a horrible neighborhood and around X's former gang members. (<- see cliché...we all know what's going to happen!)

There is one shining light for X and that's in the form of his friend, Cole, and Cole's gym. Cole recruits him to help train a young guy with promise. It really helps X to stay focus and also to exhaust himself physically especially with Anna being gone on tour.

There's a lot of drama and you-know-what hits the proverbial fan but in the end X and Anna come out on top. One thing I was really shocked about was X's reaction to Anna's news...it was just so extreme. Now that was refreshing!

So even though I felt that the story line was a bit "been there, done that", I just have to say that the cover is freaking a-mazing! OMG...that man is hot, hot, HOT!! Phewww.... And the sex scenes in the book aren't too bad either! ;)

In the second book in Xavier Cold & Anna Cortez's story, it begins with the couple dealing with the consequences & aftermath of Xavier losing his temper. Another wrestler knows just how to push his buttons, & when Xavier finally snaps, it lands him in hot water with Tension. His job is now at risk, & he is worried he has ruined his chances of becoming the World Heavyweight Champion. He is put on suspension & this not only separates him & Anna, but it gives him too much time to think about his past & his future.

Xavier returns home to Detroit & has to face his past. He worries he's not good enough for Anna, but will do anything to secure a future with her. She is everything to him. As we get some danger & complications from his old life, Xavier struggles to hold onto his job & his relationship with the woman he loves more than his life. I have adored Xavier since I read Phenomenal X & just love this couple. This man totally loses his heart to this woman & Anna sees a tender loving side of him nobody else sees. This was another fabulous book in this series & smokin hot as usual! Who doesn't love a bad boy with a heart of gold. ;))

-"Afraid so. I can't seem to get enough of you."

-"Glad to hear it because I'm fucking addicted to you."

-"I'm never going to get enough of you."

-"You have my heart, and nothing will ever change that."

-"So fucking beautiful and all fucking mine."

-"Fucking perfect. You were made for me."

☆ I received an ARC via Insklinger PR in exchange for an honest review. Thank you!! ☆

Like many tedious fans awaiting bk2's arrival, YESSAH, I got my copy! Hehe, *Hallelujah!*♥♥

Xavier Cold is all we could want and more. Xavier is really put into a hot spot as he feels his life--past and present, his career, and his need to protect Anna from his demons come full term.

With how things ended in the first book, I'm sure everyone is biting their finger nails as to what will happen to Xavier as he is being pulled away from the ring in handcuffs and Anna basically being indoctrinated into the mix of WWE world.

That being said, it was a definite turn around to see Xavier, this all muscled bad a$$ alpha, confronting from serious heavy elements and him just trying to stay afloat. It was a bittersweet treat as we got to see a more vulnerable and layered view of him, and his plight to succeed in his professional career and provide for himself and his girl, as well as find clarity amidst all that he is going through.

Now moving on to Anna. I'd say, being in love with Xavier, she's like old faithful-- staying true and by her love's side-- while also trying to make trying to come to terms with some very harsh realities. Anna has really grown a lot since bk1 and it was great seeing her be Xavier's pillar throughout the darkness and a figure of light when all hope was thought to be lost.

It is pretty sad to see this series duet go, but, I couldn't be more happy with how things panned out. Very good stuff.

3 Stars!! !!

I must admit I was a bit disappointed with the continuation of Xavier & Anna’s love story. The overall story was good, just not as great as I was hoping for. This picks up right where Phenomenal X left off, I found the multiple storylines a bit dramatic at times and there were just too many obstacles thrown in X and Anna’s way, along with too much self-doubt for both of them and X’s self-loathing was sad, I missed the confident, cocky alpha that he was in Phenomenal X !!

Their inner dialogue drove me a bit crazy at times, but, I can say I was happy to see Anna reconcile with her family, Xavier finally finding peace, and Xavier & Anna finding their happily ever after…just wish there wasn’t so many hard times thrown at them to finally find their happiness!!

Like everyone else I've waited a really really long time for the conclusion to Xavier and Anna's story, and while I read it in one sitting I wish I could say it was a very good read unfortunately for me it was only okay.

It picks up right where the first book finished which was good as I hate it when authors spend loads of time going back over what happened previously, and while I fully expected Rex and Deena to still be a thorn in Xavier and Anna's lives. I didn't expect so much drama from so many other quarters, to be honest it became irritating the further I read. Some of the situations were a bit ridiculous, plus there were times that Xavier and Anna got on my nerves with their stupid behaviour. The story is a quick read flashing from one messed up overly dramatic scene to the next making this feel very rushed. A part of me thinks is this the best the author could come up with after all this time. I'm feeling rather let down.

ARC kindly provided by the author in exchange for an honest review. HOLY HELL YESS!!! Finally !
Note: If you haven't read Phenomenal X just yet , then you might want to read it first before starting Xavier Cold. The book continues right where the first book ended.

It only took one moment for Xavier to lose control, and now he is on the verge of losing his career as a professional wrestler. After beating the hell out of his oponent, the company decides to suspend Xavier from the following matches. However, the company wants to keep Anna and make some sort of sick script about a love triangle between X ,Anna and Rex and Xavier has to play along with the story if he ever wants to return into the ring.

Now Xavier also needs to stay away from all the buzz and fuss and he is forced to head back to Detroit ,move into his old house, the same horrible house he grew in with his mother and that monster of a grandmother.

Not only that Xavier fights hard with himself and all the bad memories from his tormented childhood, but he also encounters his old buddies who are up to no good.

X decides to keep his nose clean and stay put while Anna returns, but his friends have other plans.
And while accomplishing those plans, we find out more shocking informations about Xavier's family.

I'm pleased on how things went in this book. And I was surprised to notice how much both Anna and Xavier have evolved.

Holy X-gasm! I was so excited when Xavier Cold hit my kindle that I knew it was going to be a long and lusty night cuddled up with my X-Man. There is nothing like a fierce and fiery fighter romance to heat you up and make your heart race, and Xavier Cold is the perfect match. Xavier Cold delivers danger and deliciousness, possessing and penetrating me from brilliant beginning to enthralling end.

The ultimate alpha with the whole package, I absolutely love Xavier Cold! Gorgeous with dark hair that begs to be touched and grabbed, icy blue eyes that penetrate right to the soul, and 6’4” of pure muscle and ink with the strong build of a fortress, X is pure perfection from A to Z.

Xavier’s deliciously dirty mouth cut right to my core, heating it like molten lava.

“I want to taste you,” he whispers against my skin before his tongue darts out and swirls around my nipple. “I want to suck your clit until you come all over my tongue.”

My ovaries are exploding as my fighter’s dirty mouth is now pleasingly possessive:

“Mmm…so f**king tight. This pussy was made for me, and it’s all f**king mine.”

Inside the ring, he will fight for the belt and be the ultimate champion. With his soulmate, the beautiful and angel-like Anna, he is a gentle giant who would fight for her and die for her. My heart has exploded, joining my ovaries, as X makes me smile and swoon.

“I love you more than my own life, Anna.”

Xavier’s heartfelt words cut straight to my heart and soul like a knife, as I bleed a bit for this man who still doesn’t think he deserves love and someone who loves him like Anna:

“So many times in my life I’ve been tossed away, like I meant nothing. People don’t stick with me, which is what makes me cherish Anna even more.”

While love blooms in Xavier Cold, trust is blowing in the wind. Demons still lurk in the shadows surrounding Xavier’s heart. He thinks he is tainted, tarnished, and terrible for Anna---unworthy of love. With the past holding his head and heart hostage, it may unravel Xavier and Anna’s relationship just when it has started to become a contender for the ring.

“I’m not good enough for her, and it was selfish of me ever to believe that I could keep someone as loyal and loving as her to myself…I am evil...The only way I can make sure she’s safe is to keep her as far away from me as possible.”

Michelle Valentine, you wounded and wowed me with this fearless, fiery, and fabulous fighter romance where I fell in love with Xavier Cold almost instantly in Phenomenal X. Xavier Cold packs a lot of heat with a hot and heroic fighter who melted me, and has quickly become one of my top book boyfriends and mega alphas of all time.

Usually I love anything that Michelle writes I even enjoyed the first book but I couldn't get into this one. I also forgot everything that took place in the first book. I disliked the characters in this novel than the first but I loved everything about the writing. I wish I enjoyed this like everyone else the characters had chemistry but I couldn't connected to them.

I really, really disliked how this went down. This book was so predictable, I'm saddened to say so cause I loved the first one so much.
This book totally ruined my book crush for Xavier Cold T.T
Anyway, I rated this one with 3 stars: all in all, it wasn't that bad, I still couldn't put it down, since I was totally hooked. I feel like watching WWE, because wrestling guys... they're sooooo hot.

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review

Xavier Cold is #2 in the Hard Knock Series by Michelle A. Valentine. I was looking forward to this one after the way #1 Phenomenal X ended. Anna and Xavier now find that they both have to fight harder than before for each other as demons from the past and those around then try to cause problems and pull them apart.

The conclusion to Anna and Xavier’s story it was not going to be an easy one for them. They had to deal with a lot, however even when things got rough what was always there was their undeniable love for each other.

I loved that we got a lot more of Xavier’s point of view something that I felt book one was missing. We get to see a different side of both characters Anne is stronger, independent and knows what she wants. But she still was a little frustrating at times. Xavier is vulnerable at times, which is understandable when you learn about his past, but he still has those alpha ways, which I love about him.

Overall, I enjoyed this book it was a quick read with just the right amount of angst and drama. It was lovely to see the growth of the characters. Michelle did her characters justice, and I liked the way it all played out for Anna and Xavier.

This book was the perfect conclusion to Anna and X’s story!

After the crazy cliff-hanger that we had in Phenomenal X, I have been waiting on pins and needles for this book, and it did NOT disappoint! Xavier Cold picks up right where Phenomenal X ended, and we are thrown for so many twists and turns in this book, that I wasn’t sure at times if Anna and X could ever be together without problems.

I really enjoyed how we got to see more of the struggle of X trying to figure out how to tell Anna about his past, and everything he had gone through. My heart broke for him and everything he experienced as a child, and even though I understand that he wanted to keep Anna away from that darkness, it ended up hurting him more because he wouldn’t open up. I was so happy to see that after a lot of things he finally opened up, and it seemed to help him move forward with his life.

Anna is a strong and amazing character. She refused to be in a relationship where there was no trust, and no openness between them. She stood her ground and I loved her for that. No matter how much she loved X, he needed to show her that he was willing to work for their relationship just as hard as she was.

X and Anna have major chemistry, but it’s the way they feel about each other and how protective they are of one another that really makes this story stick with you. They have a lot of things to work through in this book, and at times I wasn’t sure they would make it. Both of them are stubborn, and don’t want to hurt the other one, but what they went through made their relationship stronger in my opinion.

Watching their story play out in this book was amazing, and I felt as if I was right there with them. I only wish we would have gotten a little bit more at the ending, I felt as if the book ended a bit too quickly for me, but over all this is a fantastic conclusion to Anna and X’s story, and one that definitely needs to be read!

It took awhile to reach us, but the conclusion to Xavier and Anna's story was worth the wait! Xavier Cold picks up immediately after the final pages of Phenomenal X so if you didn't read book 1, stop here and go dig into Phenomenal X now. For everyone else, let's get to it :-)

"Our love— it’s unbreakable."

Now, Anna should know that making a statement like that is basically throwing down the gauntlet for the universe to prove otherwise, don't you think?

X is still reeling from the unexpected turn his life has taken in the last few hours, and the hits just keep on coming. His boss gets him off the hook but the terms of his surrender are less than palatable. Faced with losing his job and possibly his freedom if he doesn't agree, Xavier grudgingly accepts the offer, and he and Anna head back to Detroit to regroup. Unfortunately that also means facing his demons and staying in the house he owns there which may just be the biggest challenge he has ever faced.

Although Xavier has realized with startling clarity that his life means nothing without Anna as a part of it, their road is far from easy. He fights against self-destruction as childhood memories threaten to overwhelm him, and that's before his questionable past comes back to bite him almost as soon as he sets foot back in his old neighborhood. Add in troublemakers from the Tension world and both Xavier's and Anna's stress level is maxed out when his defense mechanisms kick in. Oh, did I say that facing his demons was X's biggest challenge? That task takes on a whole new meaning when Anna gets some game-changing news. Will X find a way to roll with it or will this be the moment that breaks them?

If you've read Michelle's books before, then I am sure you can guess the answer even if they take a bumpy side road to reach their final destination! As I flipped to the last page, I did it with a smile on my face. There were a few things that happened that weren't unexpected, but I enjoyed watching how it all unfolded anyway. The author wrapped up a lot of loose ends regarding family and friends so that the end result was rather satisfying in my opinion. Thanks Michelle for a Phenomenal ride!!

The conclusion we've all been waiting for. The highly anticipated follow-up to Valentine's PHENOMENAL X is here and it did NOT disappoint! With enough ups and downs to keep us angsty romance readers happy, XAVIER COLD brought us back into the ring of Xavier and Anna's love life. Xavier lost his cool and is now dealing with the repercussions. Not only is he taken away from his passion in the ring, but he has to deal with Anna, the love of his life, being taken away from him as well. Anna still has obligations to uphold, and those obligations take her further and further away from Xavier, which DOES NOT help with his temper.

Xavier is forced to deal with his past and he is far from happy about it. Past demons still lurk and the temptation is always there. Enemies are pushing him from every angle, and the bond that he has with his precious Anna threatens to break for good. Flashbacks from X's past give us a better understanding of how he became the man he is today. He just needs to stand up and fight away these demons and the darkness to get back to the light of his life, Anna Cortez.

This all-consuming love that these two share is so incredibly explosive, unbreakable, and powerful, but they WILL be tested. This is a true story about love conquering all, and I was very satisfied with how it ended up. This is the happily ever after that these two deserve. They have been through so much and have been each other's anchors through it all. It's time that they took control of their own lives and let the past go...let themselves be happy. Fans of this series will absolutely enjoy and devour XAVIER COLD!

In order to read this book you need to have read book 1 (PHENOMENAL X). I've been waiting for this book for a long time because man it ended on a pretty big cliff. Since this book is a continuation and there was a big cliffhanger my review below may be a bit vague but I really don't want to ruin it for anyone with too many details.

The story, for me, picked right back up. Michelle A. Valentine does a great job with helping us fill in any blanks we might have, but really once I was a chapter into it the previous book came back to me and I was good to go.

Xavier is a hot wrestler with a past and we learn more about that and there's a bunch of twists and turns. He's forced to face his past when some of the circumstances of book one has him living back in his childhood home.

I love the relationship between Anna and Xavier. Anna has grown a lot since book one, which was really necessary. I was thrilled to see her stand up for herself and even stand her ground with X. He really wants to make her happy and is so worried that she'll leave him. They really do go through a lot of growing, which I thought was needed, since in book one they sorta have "insta-ish-love".

There was a little slump for me in the middle for me but it picks up and I was able to quickly get sucked back into the story. Overall, solid read and totally worth it --especially if you already read book one and you've been waiting for the conclusion.

3.75 Angel Stars

When Xavier's temper gets the best of him, he has to decide if he can control himself, keep Anna safe and fight off his past demons... especially when some of those demons are real human beings who are bound and determined to drag him down.

At the same time, Anna had to decide if she's strong enough to wether Xavier's moods, anger and secretiveness, as well her family and her ex trying to bring her back into the fold.

Will family, friends, enemies and ex's all converge to keep this couple on the edge of destruction or will they persevere despite all the obstacles in their path.

I didn't love this one as much as the first, although I still enjoyed the read. I was angry with Anna several times. She was so naive sometimes, where she ended up putting herself in danger and distracting Xavier from protecting her. There were times I just wanted to shake her.

It was a quick read for me and I'm glad I was able to complete Anna and Xavier's story.

This was an okay follow up. Xavier was whiny and treated Anna kind of poorly which was a big change from the first book. She's done everything for him and he ignores her and thinks she's better off without him which made me irritated. Anna loves Xavier and keeps trying to show him, but I guess his childhood trauma makes it hard for him to see that. The drama was alright but seemed quickly resolved. I did like seeing Anna with her parents and getting some of the air cleared and the ending was cute.

"I stared into the eyes of the man I love without a doubt, and there's no question that this is who I was made for, the man I was supposed to spend the rest of my life with. Our love--it's unbreakable. "

Xavier Cold is finally here!!! I can not even begin to tell you how excited I was to get my hands on this book. I have been waiting and I mean waiting a long time for this book to get into my hands. And now that it's finally here, I couldn't be happier.

Xavier Cold picks up right where we left off in Phenomenal X and I don't know about you guys, but I've been dying to know what happened next. When we meet up with Xavier and Anna again, they are still reeling from what happened at his fight. Xavier will quickly find that his actions had some big consequences. Xavier feels lost and like his world is coming apart at the seams. He will find himself with no choice, but to return to his childhood home until the dust settles. But, returning home is anything but good. You see, when Xavier returns home, some parts of his past refuse to stay hidden. What will happen when Xavier's past wants to become a part of his future? Will Anna be able to help Xavier fight his demons and get the life he's always wanted??

I have to tell you, it was so good to be with Anna and Xavier again. I loved the two of them together. I thought the love they had for one another was real special and they certainly had their share of ups and downs while on their journey to HEA. Things are definitely still challenging for the two of them in this book and their relationship will be tested in more ways than one, this go around.

Xavier Cold was a quick and easy read for me. It is told from dual points of view and can easily be read in one sitting. This book had plenty of drama, angst, frustration, romance and sexy good times. So, why did I rate this book only 3.5 stars? Well, here's the thing, the story was too fast paced. I know. I know. I usually love my books to be fast paced, but this was too much. Parts of the story just felt too rushed and left me wanting more. I wanted things to slow down. I wanted to enjoy the characters a little more and I wanted to see them work through their issues; maybe a little more fighting for the things that they wanted. My other problem was the drama. Yes, we did need some drama. That being said, I felt like there was just too much. I can't give you any details because if I do, it will spoil things. Lets just say that I felt like a lot of it was unnecessary and that's why I couldn't give this book a 4 star rating.

Other than those issues, I found this to be an enjoyable read. I loved getting to spend more time with Xavier and Anna again. I was excited to see how their story would turn out and I'm happy to finally have those answers.
