The clock is ticking... And you, Lady Victoria, have barely six months. May I ask, are you currently engaged? When her father unexpectedly dies, Lady Victoria Snape has only months to marry before she’s cut off, and if she loses her inheritance she’ll have to turn to her grandfather, the King, for support. Something she vows she’ll never do. But with the clock ticking, she quickly needs a plan. A plan to get a man…
A vital choice to make... He was going to lose everything. He was going to lose James. Cormac Blake wasn’t trying to be Prince Charming when he rescued the damsel in distress. He certainly wasn’t looking for a leg up—or over!—but being penniless and trying to keep guardianship of his six-year-old brother, makes it hard to refuse offers when people make them. So, when he has two on the table, he has a difficult choice to make: save the damsel or save himself?
Two very different people, one lesson to learn: sometimes you have to marry for the money…
Buying Him, is the first of Victoria and Cormac's story in The Royals of Avalone universe. It has no sexual scenes, but plenty of sexual tension! Note, this is not a standalone book, but the first in a trilogy of books.
E.V. Darcy is not my real name, but as I taught High School when I began my writing career, and those pesky kids have a way of finding things, I thought better safe than sorry!
I live in the north of England with my husband and rather large -- and very spoilt -- dog, Jabba, who we rescued in 2015.
In 2009 I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Imaginative Writing from Liverpool John Moores University. I then went on to teach high school maths - go figure!
When I'm not writing you can find me procrastinating by binge watching my favourite T.V. shows, playing computer games, or walking my much loved dog, who is my baby!
Book one in the Royals of Avalon series brings Victoria and Carmac's story. She needs a husband and Carmac is broke and needs her money. The author brings strong characters and weaves an interesting and entertaining story. She paints her scenes perfectly and moves the story fluidly. I enjoyed reading their story.

After her father's death, Lady Victoria, the king's eldest grandchild, learns that she must be married before her 35th birthday if she is to receive her share of the inheritance. Stunned by the terms of the will, she goes in search of a man because her 35th birthday is not far away. One of her dates ends badly and she runs away after being given a drug. She collapses in front of the nightclub, the nightclub where Cormac works as a stripper. He can get her to safety before something bad happens. She is grateful to him and decides that he is a man she would like as a husband. Cormac, who is raising his brother after the death of his parents, is at the end of his ability to provide his brother with a roof over his head, a warm bed and a meal every day. He does';t know how to pay his rent and other bills at the end of the month. Then Lady Victoria comes with an offer he can't refuse, not knowing how it will change his life.
A nice story with a great man in the lead role. Gentle, faithful and his head and heart in the right place. Attracted to the woman he saved, Lady Victoria and the sense of protection he feels for her, he refuses to speak of her. But his boss O'Malley wants to know what offer he got from her and makes it difficult for him.
Intriguing story that makes you want to read the 2nd part

Victoria was the daughter of the King’s own disowned daughter. Now that her father had passed and left her and her sister with strict stipulations in his will before or if they received their inheritance it seemed the crown and their father was still controlling their lives. Cormac was a stripper who was raising his younger brother and barely getting by. After Cormac became Victoria’s knight in shining armor, an unimaginable trickling of interesting and exciting events began to take place that would change the lives of Cormac and Victoria as they began to try and construct life on their own terms together at a price. Fun read with a definite cliffhanger

Effectively the introduction to a story, these ten chapters end in a cliffhanger intended, presumably, to sell the rest of the series. Although I liked Cormac and James, I didn't find Victoria's woes (or minimal personality) sufficiently engaging to pick up the next book. I couldn't care less about the threat of a socialite being disinherited. So? Get a job.
Although the writing is technically proficient - I only noticed one fault (legalise vs legalese) - I found some of the attitudes portrayed within rather disappointing. Firstly, that it is considered ironic that a sex worker might have morals. Secondly, the choice to make the heroine slim and light to carry and the villain fat. I suppose the latter could have been accidental. The former certainly wasn't.
I really enjoyed reading this book and am looking forward to seeing what happens next. It’s a novel idea (no pun intended!) with twists and keeps you guessing but not too much! A great read for any fans of romance books. A shorter book than many which allowed me to read it in just a few hours
