Apocalypse Girls #1

Project: Angel

Rate this book
GSW-aka a gunshot wound-back to front.

That's what landed me in Sophie's operating room after a black op went to hell.

After I bled out, she "volunteered" me for Project Angel, a top-secret program determined to revive KIAs with alien tech.

I became their first success.

Fast-forward to Armageddon:
Demons are everywhere.
Bodies even more so.

After some intense fighting, we've reached the hospital where she worked. The place looks grim, but I'm not about to stop searching for the angel who saved my life.

And by we, I mean myself and another girl I met-a girl who's literally out of this world. Once the three of us are clear, we're going to put together a team to go after high-priority targets so we can save our planet and end this war once and for all.

Details to follow. Standby for the next transmission at 0300 hours.

This is Captain Isaac Williams, Force-Recon, signing off.

Enjoyablevread

Not a lit rpg, but a lot of similarity.

Good story, interesting group, dynamics are pretty much as expected.

All the women are sexy, each meets an expected trope, and yes there is sex, sexual inuendo, etc. Also demon aliens, alien tech, mind games, etc. Certainly will try book 2

So the first 30 minutes were good, then it devolved pretty damn quick into 14 year old dream of boobs and ass statements.

The MC is supposed to be a Marine that was force recon and on top of that he is supposed to have the mental acuity and intelligence of a Captain in said USMC. The men who are under that operation are NOT whiney bitches that cry over and over about a woman who died 4 years ago! They move the FK on!

Now don't get me started on the battle armor, which contributed basally NOTHING in the first few hours. The armor stated that they were transported to planet to planet after utter failure to protect the planet. That is the definition of insanity, because they kept doing the same crap over and over again with the same outcome! So they thought earthlings would be any better and this 1 dude that can't focus on the fate of the world ( only boob and ass ) is going to help! hahahaha Did this armor come with a weapon system? NOPE, did the aliens upgrade it to help earth? NOPE. It came with a cloaking device that did jack squat the very first time he used it! It was stated that the armor could stop up to a 20mm round. NOPE, he was shot in the leg by a low caliber round and bitten in his neck by some damn dog.

So again, what the point in this armor?

defend the earth from Demons

This was a good 1st book to a new series.Demon invasion. Not new or on usual for a novel . As usual somebody has sent some technology to help us. Suits. Configurable combat suits. However they're not available immediately and they're not at full power. For the 1st half of the book I certainly did not enjoy the MC. However he finally got his head out of his backside An started to become a more likeable character. What's the support characters are nice but Not nearly flashed out enough So I hope to see more of that in the future. They are how ever individual and unique. No real cookie cutter. there is sex but not lots of it and obviously Harem coming. I've see potential In the series as The initial base and the ability to do research should open many avenues. I look forward to the next book hopefully soon.

A fun adrenaline ride

I like this story it was a lot of fun to read and had a lot of action. the personalities of the different characters were well written and Lent reality to them and the story. Even the romantic erotic parts of the story were well written and added to the story and were not just thrown in just for gratuitous filler. I for one would really love to read that a second book in the series and would like to see what happens next and I also know that succubus is probably going to show up again.

DNF at 45% might pick it back up one day
This starts out Okay. At first it's like Michael Scott Earle & Cebelius teamed up, but only to shout as much Hollywood military jargon as they can think of as fast as they can. Then this book turns into a shooter version of Game-lit, with weapon upgrades and power ups. even a boss fight (with a succubus who spouts some cheesy one liners).
I'm guessing that's all Lucas Webber had plotted because at that point the IQ drops out of the bottom of this book.
Imagine one serendipitous coincidence after another. "Archeologists" just discovered an ancient spaceship with nanites & a super suit aboard, That super suit is reconfigured to fit humans. The MC puts on the super suit at the very minute that "Extra Terrestrial- Demons" invade the earth. The whole base is destroyed... Except for the fully fueled Blackhawk helicopter on the roof. The pilot of the choppa just happens to know where the Government has been building a secret survival bunker. The secret survival bunker is just withing the fuel range of the chopper. On and on it goes.
By this point in the book the writing style is no longer anything like Michael Scott Earle & Cebelius anymore.
Two extra things, The entire population of the earth is getting slaughtered and the MC doesn't seem to care much except that he's missing all the "Action". Heroes in Adventure/harem books often have pithy little observations that make them sound witty or tough. making those observations about petty things while cities are burning and millions are being eviscerated does not make you look suave or rugged. Neither dose looking down your nose at some technician who's crying about the end of the world and the senseless deaths of everyone he knows.
Second thing, this book was written in 2021, making the Russians out to be badasses is Laughably dated.

Good Story; Not a Harem

I gave three stars because it's an engaging story with good grammar and an entertaining writing style, and the MC is great (as far as MCs go for this genre). I did not rate it higher because this is not a harem, which was advertised. I wouldn't be so critical of this one fact if it didn't explicitly state it was a harem. This is a polyamorous relationship with one male. The MC actually joins a preexisting lesbian relationship. A harem has a central male who is the primary relationship for each female in his harem. The only secondary relationships are developed between harem members after their relationship with the MC, and are only tenable within the scope of fostering the harem's relationship with the MC. That is to say that they love each other as sister-wives, not co-spouses to the MC. These are the most rigid guidelines, and most authors at least make the harem members fall in love with each other once they're in the harem. The only one of these tenets of a harem that this story keeps is the presence of only one male.

Great story, disappointing harem

The main character doesn't really get a harem in this story, the female lead gets one and is willing to share her partner with him, at least seems to be willing to, it hasn't actually happened yet. It's also made clear the only reason she's willing to accept a relationship with him is if she gets to screw the other woman, making it doubly clear the harem is about her as well as the fact that the mc is second to her actual girlfriend. You could technically count his suit as his second harem member right now, but it doesn't really feel like they've got that relationship, just that she needed to have fake sex with him once for plot reasons. Honestly, I'll keep reading for the overall story, but the fact that nobody in the mcs harem is there specifically for him may eventually make me quit reading, it definitely puts a damper on my enthusiasm to read the next novel when it comes out.

Good action and story

I really enjoyed this book. There was a lot of action, the characters were detailed and a lot of fun. I am glad the adult scenes were used to add a bit of spice to the really good story vs being the story. Nothing can ruin a good action book as quick as a bad mix of story parts. This book had it all right. I recommend it if you like a good action and adventure spiced up with some adult scenes.

The author has the interesting ability of being able to write battle sequences that are actually interesting. The characters are fun and have some definition.

The plot is working nicely. The book works well as military science fiction. It works as an action novel.

I did not expect the book to be as good as it was.

It isn't a bad read.

The first 30 pages were fun then became a dumpster fire.

Guy gets some alien armor to fight off the demon horde coming to Earth to conquer and kill all. Started fun then some 14-year-old horn boy took over and it became a terrible sex scene story with pointless alien armour.

Not too shabby

This was an enjoyable read. The MC is a reasonable marine and the action is believable for the genre. I will be interested to see where this story progresses to.

Very entertaining. Feels like a bit of Halo, mixed with a bit of Dead Space, and a ton of Doom. The romance was much slower than most other HaremLit which was refreshing. I went straight to book two.

I loved this book. Great set-up for a series. A lot of fun. Looking forward to a 2nd book.

It's obviously going to be a harem series, so if that bothers you, you had better steer clear.
Has a sort of "Gantz" x "the apocalypse" vibe... the suits, the aliens.

In the first book we only really get to know 1 girl, (the one on the cover) and are introduced to a couple of others. Sophie, the cover girl, seems like the kinky one. Basically up for anything.
There is a Japanese doctor, who seems to have a bit of a screw loose. She is angry one minute, then "frisky" the next. Maybe a fun character. And 3rd is a sporty girl. She doesn't get much page time.

Anyways, only the first book is out, so let's see where this goes.

edit- I saw a review that says that this isn't a harem book and says it was wrong to advertise it that way. (As we will find out in book 2), I think he is misreading a scene between the Doctor and the cover girl.

In that scene, the doctor tries to get frisky with the cover girl, but in the *same scene* she also tries to get with the MC man. So I am reading that as the Doctor just having a screw loose and a wild libido.

Doctor lady also starts off unhappy with the protagonist. By the end of the book they have at least a working relationship, and you can see where things are headed for book 2.

This book is told from the "1st person" point of view of the MC, and we don't know what the other girls are thinking. We only see what the MC sees, and what the girls tell us.
