Overcoming is an inspiration to all women who struggle with depression, stagnation and unfulfillment to seek out the peace, power and joy in their own lives.
She was a little girl who loved ice skating, reading and music. Yet from a young age Natasha felt different. She struggled with depression, feelings of abandonment and low self esteem. At 9 she stood with a knife pressed to her wrist, contemplating taking her own life. By 17 she was a pregnant high school dropout.
The next several years were filled with drugs and homelessness on the violent streets of Oakland. She survived through God, her intuition and a profound desire to change. One day she discovered a secret that would change her life forever. This poignant memoir follows Natasha’s journey from a depressed child, to a suicidal teen, to a successful business woman.
It is a story of survival and beating the odds. It is how one woman overcame chronic depression, addiction and the battles of her own mind. It is a story of love and pain, tragedy and triumph, failures and wins. Overcoming is for anyone who never felt like enough. It is a powerful story for those ready to get out of their own way and create the life of their dreams.
This book was what I needed. We never know what someone's journey may be when it comes to pain and purpose. Natasha gives us an inside look at her life as she navigates life. She goes from not having her mom around most of the time and living with her dad. To the challenges of teenage life and trying to figure life out. To becoming an adult and things just don't seem to be going how you think that they should. This book is full of ups and downs and how Natasha overcame them is amazing.
There are many self-help books. Overcoming is exceptional because the stories are real-life experiences; the mix of emotions is highly relatable. I even laughed! We all want perfection yet it’s the doing that delivers the life you want. Have faith that you can. It turns out mindset and mind-determination will take you far. The message — an imperfect past is often the groundwork for an incredible future. You just have to see it.
Exceptionally well written autobiography of a sensitive, awakened soul overcoming her addictions. Beautifully told. Natasha is deeply self-aware as well as an empath. She tells the difficult parts of her story with incredible honesty, the kind of honesty that can only come from forgiving yourself and all those around you. And finding peace. Deeply inspiring. I feel ready to take on the world after reading this book. Thank You. 🙏
Journey inside the life of a true fighter. Natasha was counted out many times, but yet she stands with a powerful glow. Grow through the painful pitfalls of life and you will know the taste of victory when it's time. When she described certain locations in her book, I could picture it being I,m from Oakland. I was spiritually connected to book and only wanted to see Natasha overcome all her trials.
