Life Equity gives women a step-by-step plan for using the powerful and valuable skills they already have to change their own lives and enrich their world. They are experienced, smart, and effective. They have a wealth of wisdom and influence to offer and are America's richest resource. They are women. But today too many of those women view their lives and futures with a growing sense of frustration or ambivalence. At a time in which there are more opportunities for women at every level and in every realm of American life than ever before, many women wrestle with paralyzing doubt about what they can and should be doing. Congressman Marsha Blackburn exposes these fears and misconceptions and lays out a compelling corrective case for empowerment and action. Blackburn helps women of all ages discover a hidden or forgotten the life they've led has prepared them for the life they dream of.
Can't rate it lower than a 1 star, bummer. Bird cage liner at best.Fitting as this woman is full of sh#* . I live in her Disrict in Tennessee, having her represent us is a living nightmare. Now she's running for Governor.........insane. I've lived all over the country at various times, but am quite fond of the state I was born and raised in ,and moved back to 21 years ago. If she is elected Governor ,we just may have to pack it in and bail. The current Governor is dangerous and horrible, but Marsha is straight up made herself rich off the opioid epidemic and parrot of all things Trump /MAGA. If I believed in such things ,I would say she is a certified satanic witch. Look her up,read what she has done and said. Don't take my word for it. She's uber rich ,but white trash all the way. If you do decide to waste your life and read this, fact check her! Lying is second nature to this woman.
Marsha Blackburn's book, Life Equity, is a call to arms for women of all ages and from all backgrounds to stand up, put their fears behind them and begin LEADING (along side men) to create a better world. Her mantra throughout the book, "the life you've led has completely prepared you for the life you dream of", is simply and amazingly powerful. She helps women gain the mindset that whatever world they are coming from ~ be it the workforce, be it a mom and/or housewife, be it educated or not ~ whatever your background is, it has prepared you wholly for what lies ahead; for what you DREAM of doing.
Therefore, we do not need to fear, but to forge ahead. Being a Mom without work credentials should never stop a woman who wants to enter the workforce. The skills she learned as a Mom are skills that easily translate into commodities in the workforce; especially in today's world. Women in the workforce who want to change careers or try something new, should use the skills they all ready have to do it and move forward. No more excuses. Stand up and lead.
Blackburn encourages women to discover their God-given strenghs, their passions and their life experiences. In doing that, they will discover exactly everything they need to know to develop a life mission and then put it into effect.
I put off reading this book for a couple of years. And it strikes me that I've read it at an interesting and rather appropriate time in my life. In a few months, the last of my three kids will be going off to school and my days will be much different than they are now. The question that keeps arising for me is "Then what?" And while this book doesn't answer that for me (obviously) it does make me feel empowered to find the answer that best suits me and to do something that helps not just me but the world, no matter how big or small.
It was enlightening and shocking to learn that 99% of the animals raised for food are factory farmed, often in deplorable conditions that harms the animals, our environment and our health. Between reading this book and watching the film "Forks Over Knives" which talks about the health aspect of a whole foods, plant based diet, I have become vegetarian.
Wonderful book about making the most of your life at any stage. Interesting look at her life. Geared to the woman leader, she says, "What I want women to know is this: the lives they have led have amply prepared them for the life they dream of, whether they know it or not."
