This is the second Kaleidoscope book we've completed during our morning time (we're homeschooling). I read a chapter each morning and my kids narrate back what they've heard. (This is a Charlotte Mason style narration.)
I used this book as a preview into the Gospel of John. A few times a week I'll read a portion of John straight from the Bible and my kids get excited about how well they understand what's going on in the biblical narrative. We get into some great discussions! They are 7 and 10.
I highly recommend these books for elementary school-aged kids. And I'll always and forever recommend taking your kids straight back to the source material - the Bible. This book is a good bridge for kids who've gone through Jesus Calling, the JSB, the Gospel Story Bible, etc and are read for more details.
The kids and I really enjoyed reading this version of the book of John. It's adapted to fit between a children's storybook bible and an adult translation, but I love that it goes chapter by chapter, leaving nothing out. Almost every morning, the kids would beg me to read "just one more chapter," and we had many great spiritual conversations. I'm definitely a fan of this new series!
This was our first Kaleidoscope Kid's Bible and it was amazing! Our kids (10 & 13) really enjoyed it and asked for more. These books are definitely some of the very best kids' Bibles we've found!
