Tess Thompson Romance...hometowns and heartstrings.
Tess Thompson is the USA Today Bestselling and award-winning author of contemporary and historical Romantic Women’s Fiction with over 60 published titles. When asked to describe her books, she could never figure out what to say that would perfectly sum them up until she landed on, Hometowns and Heartstrings.
She’s married to her prince, Best Husband Ever, and is the mother of their blended family of four kids and five cats. Best Husband Ever is seventeen months younger, which qualifies Tess as a Cougar, a title she wears proudly. Her Bonus Sons are young adults with pretty hair and big brains like their dad. Daughters, better known as Princess One and Two, are teenagers who make their mama proud because they’re kind. They’re also smart, but a mother shouldn’t brag.
Tess loves lazy afternoons watching football, hanging out on the back patio with Best Husband Ever, reading in bed, binge-watching television series, red wine, strong coffee and walks on crisp autumn days. She laughs a little too loudly, never knows what to make for dinner, looks ridiculous kickboxing in an attempt to combat her muffin top, and always complains about the rain even though she chose to live in Seattle.
She’s proud to have grown up in a small town like the ones in her novels. After graduating from the University of Southern California Drama School, she had hopes of becoming an actress but was called instead to writing fiction. She’s grateful to spend most days in her office matchmaking her characters while her favorite cat Mittens (shhh…don’t tell the others) sleeps on the desk.
She adores hearing from readers, so don’t hesitate to say hello or sign up for her newsletter: http://tesswrites.com/. You’ll receive an ebook copy of her novella, The Santa Trial, for your efforts.
What a great read the Blue Twilight was! Blue Mountain series is how I discovered Tess Thompson's world of an incredibly amazing books and I never looked back but read whatever I could find by this talented storyteller and of course, I loved every single book. Those stories are getting better and better and they pull you in from the very first page and don't let you put it down until the end. This book was no exception, it might be my favorite now! It has everything you can hope for and more. Second chance love for two high school sweethearts ripped away from each other by a tragedy - unsolved murder of her sister and ruined life for two families. 30 years later they come back to the hometown where it all started determined to find out the truth. Carlie and Cole, could they be finally together and solve the cold case? Amazing mystery with twists and turns that keep you on the edge of your seat staying up until morning just to see how it ends guessing who and why! Just such beautiful story! You are about to fall in love with it even if you never read another one by this amazing author which you'd want for sure!
Love the new set of characters in the Blue Mountain series and also an appearance of Moonstone. Great story of a murder that happened 30 years ago. Great twist at the end and a great romance or two. This one can be read as a standalone. It’s not necessary to have read the others in the series before this one.
I've read the entire Blue Mountain series by Tess Thompson and enjoyed each of them. This one is by far my very favorite. It is a bit different from any of her books that I've read and that makes it even more special. Like she's come out of her comfort zone to try writing an even deeper story.
This is the story of a young woman's murder. Her sisters travel to find out who and why it happened. Thirty years ago Carlie's sister, Beth, was brutally murdered. There was no closure. No one arrested for this senseless killing of a young 17 year old child. Carlie stops at nothing to uncover the truth. Along with the love of her life, Cole, they go through a lot to find out what exactly happened that summer evening.
This book has so much going on and will keep you hooked from the start to the beautiful finish. A story of a love that was lost because of things that happened through no fault of their own. Carlie and Cole had just discovered how intense their love was. That each did love the other. But something happened and they were not to be together. This is a very touching story of love, loss, happiness, foreverness, truths being told, secrets coming out, families being tested. A story that has it all. All the feels you expect from a well written book by an author that you admire.
It's well written and just so good. It is my favorite book in this series and I hope the author will write more like this. It's one that will make you shed tears, have you frustrated, hopeful, edge of your seat, angry, sad and happy. All of it. You will feel like you are right in the middle of this small town. In the grocery store, on the rock in the middle of the pond. At the fair on the horrible night in question. Beside the graves when they finally do come to terms with things. This was a quick read for me. One I enjoyed and didn't want to put down.
Thank you to Tess Thompson for this ARC. I loved it. This is my own true and honest feelings about this awesome book. It's the best yet!
5/5 stars and I recommend it to everyone. You do not have to read any of the Blue Mountain series books to enjoy this one. But do read them as they are all so good.
Blue Twilight is everything I thought it would be and more. This is a fantastic read filled with second chance at love, murder mystery and all those twist and turns that go along with it. I could not get enough of Blue Twilight and was so happy to see Moonstone in this one too. Carlie is still grieving and searching for the who and the why behind her sisters murder 30 years later. Cole is back in their home town and has never gotten over Carlie after all the years that have gone by. You still feel the sparks fly and pick up right where they left off when they where teenagers. I love their connection and it made my heart so happy to see the love blossom. Once the secrets and lies start coming out hang onto your seats as Carlie and Cole finally find the answers. Your spidey sense will start to tingle on this one the closer Carlie, her mother and Cole come to solving the case. I really could not put this one down. If you haven't picked up the Blue Mountain series yet you really need to.
Is it possible to love a series more than you ever thought? I’m in awe of this latest installment in this series and it’s my favorite book yet in it! Teenage love. We all can relate to that. The love that means so much and we wish it never ends. Carlie and Cole were just beginning to make plans for a future together when her sister is brutally murdered. Life comes to an end as both families knew it. Fast forward almost two decades later and Carlie comes home to help her mom move out and finds a clue in her cold case. Cole has never given up hope and is happy to help Carlie try to figure out who the killer is. When they get too close to finding out will they solve the case or loose their own lives? A spectacular murder mystery with the perfect amount of romance! I loved this and hope there will be another book soon! Thank you to the publisher for my arc at my request.
4.5 stars!! Another great story by the master of small town romances! This is a second chance with some mystery thrown in. I love second chance romances and I love Carlie and Cole! You can tell they were meant to be, even after 30 years of not seeing each other. They spend the story falling in love and solving a cold murder case. So about the mystery/murder. I thought for sure I knew how the ending was going to turn out. I thought, oh you can’t fool me I’ve got this all figured out already! Well I didn’t. This one is definitely a page turner, for the love story as much for the mystery. Ms. Thompson just really can’t go wrong! The characters, the story, I just loved them all! Don’t miss this one!
I won a free Kindle copy of this in a Goodreads giveaway.
Wow! What an incredible book, mixed with sweet, rekindled love and a murder mystery - two of my favorite things. Carlie’s sister Beth is murdered one summer night and there are zero motives to be found, until 30 years pass and Carlie finds a hidden notebook. Rekindling her teenage love with Cole, they embark on a mission to finally figure out who killed Beth.
Having read this series and every book by this author, I knew going in what to expect and wow.. she blew away my expectations... Carlie and Cole pledge their love for each other as teenagers at the county fair. Driving home that night all their dreams and hopes of being together are shattered as her sister is murdered and his brother is the suspect. 30 years later Carlie is back in town, divorced and helping to clean up her mothers house to help her sell, when she comes across her sisters secret journal, and that’s not the only surprise... Cole is living In town and is just as handsome as she remembers.. can they have a future? Can the past secrets come to light ? I highly recommend this book as I fell in love with Carlie and Cole and I can’t wait for more books in this series, so I can return to this town and my new friends!!
Charlie and Cole have known each other since they were kids. When they were 16 they went to the fair and on top of the Ferris wheel they kissed and confessed their love for each other. Cole and his brothers dropped Charlie off at her house. As they pulled up they could see flashing lights, her parents with a look of shock, blood and police officers. Charlie’s sister had been murdered. Coles older brother was her boyfriend. Over the next few days Coles brother was accused of murdering Charlie’s sister. He was at the fair and several people saw him. But it was to much pressure for the family to stay in town and they left. Cole did not get to say goodbye to Charlie. Charlie’s life was turned up side down. She knows Coles brother could not and did not kill her sister. Charlie lost both of her best friends. Somehow Charlie’s family managed to move on and they never found out who the murderer was.
Charlie continued on with her life and went to college, marriage and had a child. She often thought of her first love and the kiss at the fair.
After 30 years Charlie’s marriage ended in divorce. She was lost and trying to get over the divorce when her mother asked her to come home to help clean out the house. Her mother was moving to a retirement home. Charlie went home and the feelings of that awful time came flooding back. And Charlie wondered what happened to Cole. Charlie found her sisters diary and wanted to read all of it to see if any clues to the murder.
Cole also had moved back home and built a house after his divorce. He heard Charlie was back in town and he spotted her at the grocery store. Cole went in and pretended to run into Charlie. They ended up and went to lunch together. The lunch conversation lead to talking about the murder. Charlie told Cole she found her sisters diary. The sparks were flying between the two and Cole was willing to help Charlie with finding the murderer.
At this point Moonstone a psychic finds Charlie and tells her about the clues she knows. Moonstone is a lovely character from a past book. It was great that Moonstone was introduced back to this story.
Will they find the murderer from thirty years ago? Will Cole and Charlie find love? There are many twist and turns with the story. As you think you have it solved you are shocked by what happens. You will fall in love with the characters and the mystery and it will be hard to put the book down. I highly recommend this book.
I was given an ARC at my request from the author. All opinions are my own.
What an amazing book this was! Tess Thompson at her very best story telling! This fifth book in the Blue Mountain series sure had me hooked wanting to read without putting it down. The characters in this book are well chosen and they have a great impact to make this book the book it is! It was also nice to meet Moonstone again. Tess Thompson did not disappoint with this book. I still am in awe! This is the story starts with a tragedy that happens in Logan Bend three decades earlier in 1989, how it seriously affected the Paisley and Webster families. When I turn the pages I am entering a story that will take leaps and bounds where Carlie Webster comes back to her home town to help her mother. Carlie can't let go of the past and what happened thirty years ago. Carlie needs to find the answers to what happened to her sister Beth. The story rapidly turns into an investigation and Carlie has the urge to really find the truth. At the same time she meets her sweetheart from the past Cole Paisley one of the Paisley brothers. Together they team up and do all they can to resolve the past. As the story unravels things happen that put them in danger. Sorting out her mothers home she comes across a journal that may give them the answers as to why someone would want to destroy the Webster and Paisley families.
The story has many twists and turns and it certainly wasn't predictable, it had me guessing a few times, and I was so captured by the story. I enjoy reading books that have a little bit of everything and the author is very good at telling her story. The place where the story is set in the Blue Mountains is very nice I can picture myself there and it made the story even nicer!
In this book you also feel the true family values, never give up, the belief in second chances, to find forgivness and happiness again. Families that meet again and how they are recomposed with a nice ending. I am very grateful to have had the opportunity read this wonderful book thank you Charlotte N
Imagine finding the love of your life when you are both sixteen years old, sharing your first kiss at the top of the Ferris wheel, only to have it all ripped away just a couple hours later. That's the setup for the romance of Carlie and Cole, a young couple who are separated by an unthinkable tragedy that nearly destroys both families.
Thirty years later, they each are on the other side of disastrous marriages and have found their way back to Logan's Bend. New clues surface in the unsolved murder, and it quickly becomes apparent that the murderer is not only still in town but is willing to do anything to keep the cold case from being solved.
I really enjoyed the romance part of the story. It's clear that Carlie and Cole are made for each other and they quickly picked up where they left off. The writing has an amazing depth of emotion and insight, making the story flow so smoothly that you hardly know how to return to the real world when it's finished.
The mystery thriller/crime drama part was especially well written. Carlie and Cole are still processing the trauma from all those years ago, and they're rightly suspecting just about everyone. The case evolves into so much more than just the one crime, making the action and suspense elements truly intense.
I love to see the attention to detail, and the way the author showed the far-reaching effects of even the smallest ripple of scandal. I loved that the HEA included several couples of all generations, and I really hope that final scene is a hint of things to come for Cole's brother Drew. Rest assured that all the details of the mystery are also resolved, and justice is well served.
This is a true standalone, with just one crossover character from the previous books (boy, does she bring a lot to the party!) and a completely independent and complete romance. I highly recommend everything by this author, and this book is an outstanding addition to her catalog. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Blue Twilight is the fifth story in the series, but is completely a standalone as it introduces a new cast of characters to the area. This coming group of stories take place in a nearby town called Logan Bend, at the base of Logan Mountain. But you’ll have some visits from some recognizable faces in this one.
Blue Twilight reminds me of why I fell in love with this series at the start and why it is my favorite. We start off with the prologue from when the characters are all teenagers. (And you can read this whole prologue for free in a separate download.)
Carlie and Cole are just starting to discover their young teenage love for each other when an unthinkable tragedy pulls them apart.
Move forward 30 years and Cole has moved back to Logan Bend. Carlie is back to help her mom clean out the house so it can be sold. The two have not seen each other in those 30 years until they run into each other at the store. Their meeting brings up all kinds of feelings – the pain of what happened 30 years ago, further self-examination following failed marriages, and most importantly, a realization that they never stopped loving each other. There is so much introspection and emotion, which for me is the magic within this series.
They do become embroiled in the mystery around the tragedy, especially as new evidence has come to light. The truth is proving to be quite dangerous, but especially Carlie is determined to solve it. I did feel that the big reveal where all of our questions are finally answered was a little clunky. But the overall story was quite enjoyable and fulfilled me emotionally. I am looking forward to more in Logan Bend.
I received a requested review copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
What an interesting story this was ..... From the first pages of the prologue I was intrigued and knew I was going to enjoy the story, which I did, immensely. This was a really beautiful love story interspersed with a long ago mystery. I loved Carlie and Cole's journey back together.... It was so heartwarming and perfect. What a sweet man Cole was... I fell a bit in love with him myself..😁 They had loved each other from their childhoods and I really liked how there was no angst, no beating around the bush, just honesty, love and deep affection for each other when they saw each other again after so many years. It was so romantic and moving..... I love how Tess Thompson writes relationships..... and how she describes her characters makes you feel like you know the them personally .... The mystery surrounding Beth's death was very cleverly told.... There were lots of subtle and not so subtle clues towards the truth. The unraveling of the mystery plus the revealing of what really happened so long ago was highly satisfying. I really was so happy that the book continued on and gave us a glimpse of what happened next with Carlie and Cole...... That was the icing on the cake for me and left me with the deeply contented feeling of a story well told. I highly recommend this book...it is a very romantic, sweet, heartfelt, and suspenseful story that you wont be able to put down until you found out who did it!!!.😇
Thank you to Valentine PR for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
While I love Mystery and Romance separately, I wasn't sure what to expect from this novel going in but I really enjoyed it. The story revolves around high school sweethearts, Carlie and Cole, who had just started exploring things between them when Carlie's older sister is brutally murdered and suspicions fall on Cole's older brother who was going out with her. Years later, Carlie and Cole are both in town after failed marriages and Carlie finds a diary in her sister's room which hints to someone else being in her life that no one knew about and so Carlie and Cole set out on solving the mystery of her sister's death once and for all- any maybe get a second chance.
I loved how I was instantly pulled into the story from the very first chapter and the characters. Right after the first chapter ended, where the death happens. We straight off move to 30 years later when Carli is back and I was already on the edge of my seat and bubbling with excitement and curiosity to know what truly happened. It had a wonderful and gripping plot which kept you guessing with lots of twists and turns to keep the curiosity going and I think the end made it worth it. I haven't read any of Tess Thompson's other books but considering how much I loved this one and her writing, they're definitely going onto my TBR.
Blue Twilight (Blue Mountain Series - Book 5) by author, Tess Thompson
Blue Twilight by Tess Thompson is a beautifully written story that intertwines the emotional pull of love, loss, secrets, hope, and true happiness.
Having been swept up on a journey of page-turning intrigue, with its consistent flow of emotion, it's true to life characters, and a storyline that seeps into your heart, Ms. Thompson has brought to life a very special addition to the Blue Mountain Series.
From family tragedy, to second-chances, Blue Twilight brings to its reader the tears, heartache, as well as the beating heart of a wonderful love story as Carlie and Cole, two souls who have felt each other's absence throughout the years, relive the past, rekindle their desires in the present, and move on to a future with full hearts in this small-town saga.
The pages are filled with the warmth and angst of life choices and its obstacles, along with a mystery that tears its way back into the lives of those still left with unanswered questions.
Blue Twilight has it all, and makes the perfect story for all readers~ those who are True-Blue fans of the author, and for those reading Ms. Thompson's stories for the very first time.
I thank Ms. Thompson for my copy of Blue Twilight, and happily recommend this novel of swoon-worthy romance and suspense, as a must read...
Tess Thompson’s newest novel, Blue Twilight, is a masterpiece. Her novels keep getting better and better. This one is part romance and part Murder mystery, and it is amazing. While Blue Twilight is part of a series, it can definitely be read as a standalone.
As usual, the characters in this books are outstanding. All of the backstories are complex and interesting. The characters all start off as teenagers, and then there is a large time jump, so the reader actually gets to experience some of the backstory, which I really enjoyed. Both of the main characters have gone through the wringer in life, but despite that they both remain open and hopeful. They are determined to find out who the killer is while remaining positive for the future. I love that about the characters that Tess Thompson creates.
The storyline of Blue Twilight is so suspenseful that I read this book in one sitting. I couldn’t put it down. All of TessThompson’s books are romance at their core, but each one has a little something extra added. The murder mystery in this book is amazing. I didn’t suspect the actual murderer until they were revealed, which is always the sign of a good murder mystery!
Once again, Tess Thompson has delivered another spectacular novel. I’m ready for whatever she writes next!
I don't understand why this book is included in the series. Other than being set in Idaho, but in a different town, it shares only one character, a physic named, Moonstone. In addition to being a love story, it is also a murder mystery. "Carlie Webster remains haunted by the past. After a messy failed marriage sends her packing for her small hometown, she relives the memories of her sister’s thirty-year-old unsolved murder. But when rekindled sparks fly with the suspected killer’s brother, Carlie must clear his sibling’s name if she wants a shot at second-chance love. Cole Paisley has never shaken his family’s dark reputation. Finally returning after merciless rumors forced them out three decades ago, the recent divorcé is stunned to discover the girl who stole his heart is also back home and available. And when she finds a secret diary in the walls of her childhood house, he’s determined to help her catch the killer and prove his brother’s innocence." synopsis copied
Desperate for closure in her sister’s tragic story, the amateur sleuth feels growing comfort in the man she always believed was her destiny. And when the journal reveals a shocking detail, Cole and Carlie must uncover the town’s shameful secret to finally understand what really happened.
Will Carlie and Cole finally get to the truth and find the happiness they deserve?
An amazing story that has just about everything I could want in a good book!
It has a mystery/suspenseful plot that carries through to almost the last page when the shocking story comes out with an intense conclusion. I had suspicions of what happened, but I was still pleasantly surprised with some of the intricacies involved! I love being surprised by the-who-done-it of a story!
The second chance love story between Carlie and Cole was sweet and emotional given what each of them have been through and the time they were apart. He’s a fabulous man and totally gets her and has cherished her forever... she adores him and has since second grade.
Carlie falling back into in love with her hometown and having a chance to feel emotionally secure after the heartbreak of a cheating ex-husband and his sex scandal was heartwarming.
This is a fantastic story, written with a descriptive and lyrical writing style that both engages and comforts you as you become invested in the story and the characters. The suspense builds and is interwoven evenly with the romance between Carlie and Cole.
I’m eagerly hoping Tess Thompson brings us Cole’s brother Drew’s story next!!!
I received an ARC from the author and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
Unbelievable! Tess Thompson’s books keep getting better and better! While this newest book, ‘Blue Twilight’, is the fifth book in the Blue Mountain series, it takes place in a neighboring town to the setting of the others in the series. The town is close enough that Moonstone was able to visit and share her premonitions with Carrie and Cole. She plays an integral part in solving a thirty-year-old unsolved mystery of Carrie’s sister, Beth. It was great to have a revisit with one of my favorite characters from this series. There are many twists and turns throughout this book that will keep you guessing who may have committed the crime to the very end. What’s even better about this book is that in addition to the mystery of Beth’s death, the true love story of Cole and Carrie, who have been friends since second grade, unfolds. It cannot get any better than this!
Going forward, my wish for the Blue Mountain series is that Tess Thompson continues to allow us to visit past characters’ lives, as well as the new ones that we were introduced to this time. I highly recommend this book to all!
Thank you to the author and publisher for the opportunity to read an ARC. All opinions and thoughts are my own and freely given.
This was my first book by Tess Thompson, and I found it to be a very enjoyable read. A 30-year-old unresolved murder. Two families lives forever changed. Cole’s family fled after the murder of Beth. But he knew he would return one day. He always knew this was where he was supposed to live. The only thing missing was Carlie. Now Carlie has returned to help her mother sell their family home. Finding her sister’s hidden journal opens so many things she never knew. Also, when she sees Cole those feelings, she had for him all those years ago are just as strong as they were. Getting a second chance at a relationship they never has a chance to grow because of her sister’s murder. Tess Thompson wrote their second chance at love making you feel you were right there with them. Feeling the emotions, they felt and hanging onto every word especially when revealing what really happened to her sister. The tears you will shed for these characters will be of sadness as well as joy, A story that will keep you reading never wanting to stop. Satisfaction for justice for her sister and their families and finally a love that stood the test of time and finally given a chance to bloom.
Blue Twilight by Tess Thompson OMG !!! What an amazing story!! Once again, Ms. Thompson has hit a home run with this book! Carlie and Cole’s story is simply the best. A tragedy drastically changes the lives of two families forever. A 30 year old cold case that seems to have disappeared, quite literally. As Carlie and Cole each return to Logan Bend 30 years later, they are seemingly drawn to each other just as when they were children. Can they pick up where they left off after tragedy tore them apart? This is a story about love, renewal, family, forgiveness, jealousy and justice. Ms. Thompson has created characters that are so easy to love and relate to. You want to cheer for the good and smack the bad!! Once again, we are blessed with Moonstone in this book. She is a regular character in around Logan Bend that seems to add a little intrigue to the story as well. I wish I could have her look into a few things for me! This is a book you will want to clear your day for or plan on staying up way past your bedtime to finish. You are not going to want to put this book down!! Enjoy!
What a great book. I had a hard time putting it down. I have never read this author before, and I will be going back and read more of her titles. As this is book five in the Blue Mountain Series, I did not expect it to be standalone, so if you start here, you are fine.
Tragedy strikes two families only hours after two teenagers finally tell each other their feelings and share their first kiss.
As the 30th anniversary of that night approaches, life has changed for those two teenagers. Cole’s family left Logan’s Bend shortly after the funeral, separating the two before exploring their attraction. They are both in Logan’s Bend again, he for good; she is just visiting. Will they get their second chance?
Carlie needs closure to her sister's murder, all these years later. Cole wants to help her. From here, we get a story of love, loss, forgiveness, revealed secrets, and family. This story is beautifully written, complex, but complete. It just flows, and I read it quickly; the story will pull on your emotions.
I received an advanced copy from the Author; this is my voluntary review.
Every time I read a book by this author. I just feel closer to the characters in the books. I love the Story's Tess Thompson Writes....

I Received This Copy For My Honest review. All thoughts are my own.
It feels like a cool minute since I was transported into the brilliant Tess Thompson's world, and after reading Blue Twilight, I have to say that I'm trying to figure how I moved away. I've read many of her books, but I'm going to say that this story is my very favorite to date as it has her signature brilliance with a kicker of suspense/mystery. Carlie has just gone through a messy divorce, so she's finally come home after decades. I mean she hasn't been able to shed that past because her sister's murder has gone unsolved so there's that. Now that she's home, the memories are getting stronger, and it just so happens she comes face to face with Cole, the suspected murderers brother who she has a past with before her sister's murder tore them apart. He hasn't been home either, but now he is, and determined to find who the killer is to exonerate his brother. It just so happens he teams up with Carlie again, and the sparks are flying as they try to uncover what really happened so long ago! Obviously this story has a lot of twists coming down the mountain, plus MC's that I truly loved so in order to see who dun it, you know what to do! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!
Tess Thompson has done it again! I adore her Blue Mountain series as it just keeps getting better and better with each book. I immediately fell in love with Carlie and Cole. What a special couple with intense yet comfortable chemistry. They've had a bond since they were in second grade. The tragic murder of Carlie's sister, Beth, forced them to part ways when they were in love in high school. Carlie comes home thirty years later to help her mother and discovers information about her sister's final days. And, she reunites with her long-lost love.
Carlie is on a mission to find answers about her sister's murder that have been left unanswered for 30 years. We get reintroduced to Moonstone, the psychic, who assists in providing information. Once pieces of the past come to light and questions are answered, Carlie, her mom, and the Paisleys can find peace and move on.
Blue Twilight has it all! Romance, mystery, family, laughter, tears. Despite the murder mystery, this book will give you warm fuzzies. Bravo Tess, on another fantastic book! I hope that we get to see more of The Paisleys (Drew or Luke perhaps?) in another installment of the Blue Mountain series.
Carlie and Cole had been head over heals in love with each other from the first moment, but just as they find the nerve to tell each other their true affections, Charlie's sister Beth is murdered, and Cole's brother Luke is falsely accused...
Thirty years later, Cole has returned to Logan's Bend to have the farm that he dreamed of sharing with Charlie once upon a time. A random twist of fate, draws Charlie back to Logan's Bend to help pack up her family's home filled with memories of life before Beth's death...and haunted by her murder ever after.
When by happenstance the two bump into each other at the grocery store, the sparks are still there...maybe a second chance has been given to them after all this time...maybe the pair can figure out who murdered Beth and destroyed their two families all those years ago...
Seeking answers, healing, and forgiveness for the burden of being the other Webster girl, Carlie seeks justice and permission to do more than just live...
Fantastic characters, plot, and a few whoa I didn't see that twist coming moments. I look forward to the next title(s) in the series!
This story was amazing! It is the first time I read a novel by Tess Thompson. Her writing is incredible. The descriptions of scenery and people place you right in there with the characters. You can clearly imagine the story line by her writing. I appreciate that with a writer and Thompson does not disappoint. A poignant and emotional novel about a woman named Carlie Webster who lost her sister, Beth at age seventeen, to a heinous crime when Carlie was only sixteen years old. Carlie was just starting a relationship with her best friend, Cole Paisley, when the tragedy of her sister occurred. Carlie and Cole were ripped apart under circumstances beyond their control. As the years go by and their lives go in separate ways, they never stopped thinking about one another and somehow, miraculously, they meet up with each other again in their hometown of Logan Bend, Idaho. Without going into detail, the story has romance, intrigue, and suspense. Again, Thompson did a remarkable job writing the novel.
Another winner by Tess Thompson! A little romance, mixed with mystery and a 30 year span of time. High school sweethearts Cole Paisley and Carlie Webster were torn apart by the tragic murder of Carlie’s sister Elizabeth.
Fast forward 30 years and Carlie comes to town to help her mother go through the house to get it ready to sell. Stumbling on her sister’s diary Carlie is determined to find the truth. The reader gets a sense of the hurt and tragedy that has followed Carlie and her family since her sister’s tragic murder. Meanwhile Cole’s life was also altered as his family left town after murder accusations against his brother. The childhood sweethearts meet at the grocery store and seem determined to find out if they can join forces to solve a mystery and pick up their romance where it abruptly ended
Small town cover ups and politics seem intertwined as the psychic Moonstone emerges with clues of her own
Thank you to the author for an ARC. This review is my honest opinion
