Notes from a Quarantine: Essays, Stories, and Poems

Rate this book
Notes from a Quarantine was written while author Cheryl Wray experienced the coronavirus in real time. The book includes essays that focus on the way the quarantine affected everyday life, but also sheds light onto the way it impacted our emotional, relational, and spiritual experiences. Often funny, sometimes bittersweet, always personal and meaningful, the essays are joined by poems and short stories that come from living through 2020 and the continuing pandemic. Cheryl Wray is a voice of wisdom and light; her thousands of articles have appeared in newspaper and magazines, and now appear here in her first collection.

I was hesitant about reading a “quarantine” book, but I fully enjoyed this one. It so poignantly spoke to the circumstances the pandemic brought into our daily lives. So many of the author’s feelings and experiences echoed mine and validated them somehow. It was a beautiful way to make peace with this past year. I loved the poems - simple, yet elegantly worded. They really resonated with me. The final story was a beautiful wrap up for the book and seemed to exemplify the good in humanity.
