It's pretty good, I found myself empathising a lot with the protagonist. The love interest is somehow both a huge red flag and highly adorable. He's basically the idealisation of that domineering romance lead (except he's a surgeon instead of a billionaire) who can only be tamed by the protagonist. The last 10 chapters felt both draggy and rushed at the same time. There's a lot of homophobia exhibited by the side characters and I wish the main character's friend was more challenged on his frankly offensive comments (though in the end he does end up being supportive). Will probably check out the audio drama but unfortunately some scenes have been censored.
The story is alright. I don't think the character development was interesting or engaging enough, but I still found myself rooting for their relationship. The supposed premise of this novel was their "addiction" for each other. I did not feel that at all. There was no sense of desperation or like, "withdrawal" symptoms. I didn't even find their interactions romantic. The events that happened throughout the story didn't develop towards this premise either. Not to mention, Ning Junyan is just so bland. I don't know how to word it or maybe I'm too bored right now but Ning Junyan is just too flat. He actually had pretty interesting character settings but how the author still managed to make him so boring is beyond me. Give this novel a shot though since it's quite a fast/easy to read and who knows maybe this is your cup of tea.
