"Nothing makes sense anymore!" he stormed

Judith and Linc had been separated for almost a year--ever since he was abducted by a group of Communists in Malaysia. Then came the news of her husband's freedom, and Judith was ecstatic.

But from the moment they were reunited she knew they had become strangers. She had grown into an independent businesswoman, and he had grown cold, indifferent.

It was okay, I found most parts of the novel boring however. The heroine lost her baby and her husband when he was taken prisoner. The grief from the hero, her husband being gone caused a miscarriage. When the hero gets back from being rescued after a year, things have changed greatly. There are a lot of misconceptions in this novel that make it a tiny bit dramatic.

An old school M & B. Told completely from the Heroine’s perspective so we’re left to guess the Hero’s thoughts feelings and emotions.
The setting is Malaysia, so there’s the bit of local colour and flavour but not too much of sightseeing though.
The Heroine during her husband’s disappearance, had started her own antiques business and was working almost day and night in a bid fill the void in her life. She discovers that she has a flair for it and is also thinking of expansion. The Hero’s cousin is the potential ‘Other Man’ here. He’s happily married to his childhood sweetheart, but feels neglected because the wife is apparently obsessed with their new baby. So the cousin is shown as being very helpful and supportive and is just about to make his seductive move on our “naive, clueless, suffering from separation pangs” Heroine, when the Hero walks in!!!! *Cringe Cringe*

What was different about this book from most of the other books wherein the “Hero is resurrected” is that, here the Heroine is not instantly overtaken by insta lust for the Hero and is not comfortable with sharing her body with her husband who’s now a stranger to her. We’re also given glimpses into her thought processes where she finds it comfortable (both emotionally and physically) to be around the cousin rather than her husband because he resembles the husband.

The Hero’s “given to theatrical outbursts” mother adds a little colourful drama to the story.

And the role of the “other women” is played by the Hero’s business partner’s indulged daughter who was also taken hostage along with the Hero.

There’s no physical cheating here by both of them, but emotionally, the Heroine was very vulnerable and is shown as being a wee bit susceptible to drawing comfort from the “other man cousin”

Linc had gone missing a year ago while traveling in Communist Malaysia. Judith did not just sit around doing nothing. She was able to start a business to support herself. When he came back he finds that she is not the same woman he left behind. She is left feeling that there was more to his disappearance than he told her. There is the OW in this story and his own brother who has decided that to care for Judith even though he himself is married. The angst is there and of course the drama of what happened in the past year has yet to be told. I have the original book and enjoyed reading this several times.

I can't say that i liked it. I just could not root for the h & H. I kinda was more interested in the story of Linc and Kee-Ann being hostages together or Wayne and Judith as a couple.

Not that great.

The H and h have only been married a year when they are separated for 12 months because the H has been kidnapped by Rebels. When he is found and comes back the h is wary as he feels like a stranger to her. Lots of misunderstandings ensure the H suspects the h of having an affair with his cousin during his time in captivity. While the h thinks H has been unfaithful with the young lady (daughter of his boss) who was kidnapped along with the H during the year in captivity. Plus an annoying mother in law etc... It was mostly boring. Good thing it was a short fast read.
