Simon Fayter #5

Simon Fayter and the King Alone

Rate this book
Men should never be given the power of gods. Not before they are ready.

Simon Fayter is inches away from becoming an all-powerful megadude and saving the world, yet it seems like miles. He is imprisoned deep inside the mindhold of his enemy. He has lost the turncoat. He is unable to touch what little magical power he once called his own. Meanwhile, his friends tear the world apart in search of him. Drake wields his newfound strength to the dismay of the monsters that meet him on the battlefield. Tessa discovers that while the world depends on Simon, Simon depends on her, and she is forced to contend with her own mysterious magic, which seems to have become horribly entangled with an even more mysterious and powerful force—love. If they falter, they will lose the world...

Rone has imprisoned Simon Fayter inside his own mind, stolen the bloodstone and Simon's magical powers however he works hard to break out and to prepare to confront and battle with the evil from the abyss. Simon has been separated from his friends but they are doing all they can to re-c0nnect with him. Tessa knows that Simon though the Fayter cannot do it without them. Leto, Simon's little dragon helps Simon gain both his education and experience through the islands he took him to, Simon spends over two thousand years learning and Leto is a tough educator but he also gave a lot of himself when he gave Simon his own mind. Leto had freed Simon from the prison of Rone's power and from the prison of his own ignorance. On the last island he visits he gets to meet the Blessed, the twelve wizards and their bonded dragons, and these share their knowledge with Simon and make him the 13th member of the Blessed. After many years when all the blessed plus Leto have nothing else to teach Simon, he sets out to take back his bloodstone from Rone. So can Simon and his friends beat the shadow, the shades thrown at them and Rone himself in the great battle between good and evil? I love that the characters are youngsters and that the books are so full of imagination and magical creatures, that the friends are loyal to Simon and ready to battle the dark so valiantly. This book gave us an ending of sorts, but one adventure ended yet so many more may be explored. I am sure we have not read the last book about Simon, Tessa, Drake and Roman and I look forward to more fantastical reads! This is an amazing series and can be enjoyed by all age groups so comes highly recommended!

Simon Fayter and the King Alone is the 5th book in the Simon Fayter Series. This series has been enjoyable to follow along and see how the characters have evolved over time. I had no idea that there would be five books in the series, but it was like opening another surprise gift whenever I found out there was another book available. In Simon Fayter and the King Alone, we find Simon readying himself to go into battle with Rone. This is the big one, folks. Here, the winner will determine the fate of the world, and the fate of everyone. Rone and whoever follows him against the wizards and all of the magic that was and is and is to come.
First, Simon must reconnect with all of his friends. Some of them will journey with him- others he isn’t sure if they will make it out alive or not. For that matter, Simon isn’t sure anyone will make it. But there is much to learn. And learning will take many, many years. What? Yes, for a wizard to be able to open an allgate, they must study and learn how to channel their power so that it would flow seamlessly as one, rather than in separate pieces, which was how he had always been taught to use it. This book, as well as the other books in the Simon Fayter Series, can be read as a standalone, but it is so much more satisfying to read as a series. There is so much information that is shared from one book to the next, and it is so much fun to get to know the characters. I can’t imagine not reading the series in its entirety. Bravo to Mr. Bailey for a great series- well done!

I received an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review and then will be purchasing a copy when I get paid.

So after the previous book I was like noooooo. It was a pretty evil cliff hanger. However, the wait was totally worth it. I felt satisfied with the ending. The last book was just as fun as the rest of the series. This last volume was not as dark as the last one and seeing the characters growth.

I also am pretty happy with the range of vocabulary. Some YA writers don't use any big words and keep their vocabulary simple and boring; not so with this author. He uses a nice variety of words which helps to build young readers vocabulary. His writing is very colorful and fun. Also the footnotes are a fun addition as always. You get a variety of content in them ranging from educational, to hilarious. I looking forward to seeing what Austin Bailey writes next

A thrilling ride of non stop excitement!

Simon, Drake and Tessa are working to save the world and keep having new obstacles thrown at them to overcome.

Simon is captured by Rone and placed into his mindhold, as he tries to force Simon to give him all of his power.

Drake and Tessa are working with others trying to find and rescue Simon. Meeting challenges of their own as the have to battle and overcome many things to try and help Simon.

Who live and who dies as they struggle to save the universe.

This story unfolds with many twists and turns that will keep you turning pages to see how the adventure ends.

This story along with all of Austin Bailey’s books are well worth the time to read. I believe you will enjoy this adventure, I know I did!!

My pre-teen boys and I loved this entire series. The books get better later in the series, in my opinion. Bailey gets into his groove more, and while there are some plot mechanisms that make the adult in me shake my head a bit... it is a WONDERFUL story and it is perfectly appropriate for younger audiences. To be clear, even as an adult I was able to get lost in the story and enjoy it thoroughly. So fun, so many creative ideas as to how magic works in a world not so different from our own. Highly, highly recommend everything Bailey has written to date (the entire Magemother series is high on our list, and now Simon Fayter is a household name). Bravo, Bailey, keep it up. Looking forward to more great works.

Wonderfully fun and exciting adventure that I have throughly enjoyed reading! The perfect ending to one of the most well written young adult series I have ever read, seriously, Austin has created the most interestingly unpredictable world in a story with the most well placed and fully fleshed out characters I have ever experienced! I absolutely love this series and highly recommend it to all young adult fantasy readers. I can’t wait to read all 5 straight through. Thank you Austin, this series was awesome!

I really enjoyed this entire series and I must admit, I am sad to arrive at the last book. I am going to miss Simon his sense of humor, his friends and the unbelievable adventure that he has been on. This entire series is well written, has TONS of commentary so that young (and old) readers can learn some about history, colloquialisms, and become more knowledgeable - while reading an entertaining story. If you haven't read the previous books yet - go back and start at the beginning. You can escape into Simon's world for while -I recommend that you do!

Great ending to the series. This series is great for teens and adults alike.
The author uses humour and interesting vocabulary to keep the reader engaged. It’s nice to have that sort of interaction with these books!
Can’t wait to see what is next for Bailey; I have enjoyed everything of his that I have read.

Unputdownable.*
An excellent conclusion to a great series. Does not shy away from truths that a lot of books for young people do, but is also relatable, compelling and entertaining. I definitely stayed up too late reading this, and am glad I did. I heartily recommend this book and the whole series.

Fun conclusion to the series

After being trapped by Rone at the end of the previous book, things seemed pretty sure for Simon and his friends. But with help from a powerful ally, Simon is able to learn more about his power, and face the villain in a brutal battle. This was a fun series, and I found the end satisfying.

If I could be paid for how much I loved this book, and cried while reading it, I would be RICH. Seriously this was so amazing. This also perfectly encompasses how I want people to feel after reading one of my books. 10/10

whoa.

This book was… THE BEST ONE YET!!!!! Jumpin mackerel!!! By far the best book series of its kind I have EVER read. I HOPE Hollyweird makes THIS one into a series of movies. This is better than HP, Percy, and the SW Chronicles all together!!!

Read these.

I was one who thoroughly enjoyed the Harry Potter series. This is like Harry Potter but maybe told by Voldemort and the Death Eaters' perspective.

Although I am sad to see this series come to an end , it was a great read from the very first book. I love the writing style and the story line is one of the best I've read in awhile in the magic world. Austin Baily has done it again. Please keep up the great books I've read from you. Simon it is farewell for now until I read you again. Yes this series is worth reading again

This series was fun - it felt like Artemis Fowl mixed with Harry Potter, but self-aware. The hundreds of footnotes were tiresome, I opted to skip them in the last few books. It was also a bit of a slog to get through some of the fighting scenes. Overall, it's a whimsical book and I had fun reading it with my kid.
