Books 3 and 4 are a standalone duet in the Worlds Collide universe.

Alejandro
I always knew we were a bad idea. Sophie and I are from different worlds. In theory, her expectations of me aren’t unreasonable; equality, respect, and the truth – always the truth. But in reality, a man in my position has secrets to keep, impossible decisions to make, and a reputation to uphold. All of it for her own good.

But whatever our problems, she’s mine. If she ever tries to walk away, I don’t know what I’ll do. Having to pin my mariposa down wouldn’t be pleasant for either of us.

Sophie
I knew it wasn’t going to be easy. Making a life with a man as stubborn and overbearing as Alejandro would be challenging on a good day. He’s used to giving orders and having them obeyed, but I’m not one of his men. If we’re going to make this work, concessions have to be made on both sides – not just mine.

Despite our differences, there’s one thing holding everything together . . . we love each other. Desperately, deeply, irrevocably. Forever . . . or until one of us breaks.

I may be a sucker for an HEA, but I like my romance to have an edge to it! My heroes are never clear cut white knights, and my heroines are never pushovers - but they do have something in common: they're always devoted to each other.

I write new adult contemporary romance as LL Meyer, and young adult sci-fi/fantasy as Lisa Lynn Meyer.

5 Queen of the Underground Stars ⭐

The first book Fall From Grace was the forbidden romance of Alejandro and Sophia. Ignoring the shouldn't, they fell in love regardless. But how does the kingpin and his innocent beauty navigate their newfound relationship? Well Beauty will need to tame the Beast. And Sophia does it so eloquently and lovingly in The Devil's Own.

She and I seem to have found an understanding. I keep her safe, she lets me. I dominate, she submits. And we both like it that way.

There is no denying that Alejandro is a true anti-hero. Balancing the underground and real life is fragile at best. Adding Sophia to the mix is a whole new dilemma and keeping her safe is his new priority. It is second nature for Alejandro to rule with an iron fist, except bringing that behaviour home will have consequences. Like doubts and impending fireworks.

From the beginning they’ve been all in. Navigating through this tumultuous love affair has had its missteps. Yet with both Sophia and Alejandro putting their prides aside, playing dirty has been the best possible foreplay. It wasn't always easy, but worth it.

“Does this mean we’re going to start wearing matching T-shirts?” I mean to tease him, but all the choked emotion ruins the effect.

“No, it means I’m not letting you go – ever. You’re mine.”

And maybe if I weren’t so in love with him, the possessiveness would scare me, maybe even suffocate me.

“Do we understand each other?” he demands. “I love you and there’s nothing you can do to change that.”

The Devil's Own perfectly highlighted the struggles of every relationship worth fighting for. Adoration, insecurity, possessiveness, growth and loyalty. With a multitude of amazing side characters, this book was a follow up I didn’t know I needed. You'll not read a mafia romance with this amount of heart. It was beautiful from beginning to end.

He may be a villain to some, but he’s proven to be the hero of my story too many times to count.

and i mean that both in a good way, and in a oh my god i cannot type of way. i'm not sure what i expected from TDO, actually you know what, no. i do know what i wanted from this whole shebang.

➜ i wanted Alejandro and Sophie to actually talk about shit.

➜ i wanted Sophie to tell Alejandro off and actually let his ass stew for a while.

➜ i wanted Alejandro to… well i'm sure what i wanted from him, tbh.

it honestly pains me to admit that i didn't love THE DEVIL'S OWN. it's hard because i liked TDO. it was a good time, but similar to its predecessor it was missing that spark… at least for me it was.

❝Estoy enamorado.❞
❝What? What did you say?❞
❝That I love you, mariposa. More than anything.❞

somehow, they were written to be both intense and erotic, while at the same time there was this playfulness to them that i actually really enjoyed. the sex scenes felt like an extension of Alejandro and Sophie as a couple.

❝Then we’re even. I love you, you love me. Let’s move on.❞
He works his jaw from side to side. ❝Maybe if you suck my dick.❞
The smile that spreads across my face clearly both irritates and pleases him. ❝I thought you’d never ask.❞
❝I didn’t ask.❞
❝Oh, sorry. I thought you’d never order me to suck your dick.❞ I kneel in front of him as he pushes his chair back from the table.
❝I’d threaten to spank your ass, but you’d probably get off on it.❞
❝Probably…❞

so, if you're in the market for a book that has steamy AF sex scenes then THE DEVIL'S OWN, and FALL FROM GRACE, are where it's at.

for example, Sophie and Alejandro would have these really intense arguments about the way Alejandro treated her. see, in his world Alejandro is so used to snapping his fingers and having people listen to him. it's been that way for him for about twenty years. enter Sophie who is decidedly not used to that. cue, the problem. this argument popped up consistently, and almost every time it did appear our lovely leading couple would start fucking before they had resolved anything.

don't believe me? well here is some archival footage of my reaction to the fifty-millionth out of place sex scene, ↯ ↯

essentially, what i'm trying to say is this, i liked the sex scenes, but, and this is a big but, i didn't like their timing. i couldn't stand that every time i wanted Alejandro and Sophie to actually discuss their relationship they'd instead immediately start hate-fucking. so, thanks TDO, you've allowed me to discover a new reading pet peeve of mine, out-of-place-fucking.

♥ ᴀʟᴇᴊᴀɴᴅʀᴏ ʙᴇʀɴᴀʟ-ᴀᴄᴏꜱᴛᴀ ᴡᴀꜱ ᴏɴᴇ ᴄᴏᴍᴘʟᴇx, ɪɴꜰᴜʀɪᴀᴛɪɴɢ, ᴀɴᴅ ᴀᴛᴛʀᴀᴄᴛɪᴠᴇ ᴍᴀɴ. he was at once the entire fucking package, while simultaneously being a literal garbage bag. i wanted to slap him, and i also wanted to bend the fuck over and assume the position. he made me so freaking angry, but also melted my insides like gooey chocolate. i'm - i'm honestly not sure how to feel about Alejandro.

there were usually three scenarios when it came to Alejandro.

𝘀𝗰𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗼 #𝟭 ~ he'd open his mouth and say something unbelievably romantic… in which case my immediate reaction would be something like this, ↯ ↯

𝘀𝗰𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗼 #𝟮 ~ he would say something so sexy that i swear my ovaries would explode. cue me being like, ↯ ↯

𝘀𝗰𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗼 #𝟯 ~ Alejandro would say something rude, condescending, vaguely sexist, and very demanding (and not in a fun way). cut to me angrily planning Alejandro's death, ↯ ↯

so… yeah… a lot of feelings when it comes to Alejandro. ultimately though, i think i low-key love him. there was something so realistic about his treatment of Sophie, both the good, the bad, and the ugly. he was a man who had been through very dark things. his line of work was very dangerous, and he wasn't used to sharing his emotions or feelings with anyone.

in the end, what kept me from actively hating Alejandro is the way he refused to be complacent. if he realized he messed up he owned it. he tried to do better. and most importantly, i don't think he ever came at Sophie from a place of hate or anger. that's why my wishy-washy ass has no qualms about declaring my love for the most complicated romance hero i have ever read about.

🅾🅺🅰🆈 ꜱᴏ ʀᴇᴍᴇᴍʙᴇʀ ʜᴏᴡ ɪ ꜱᴀɪᴅ ɪ ʀᴇᴀʟʟʏ ʟɪᴋᴇᴅ ꜱᴏᴘʜɪᴇ ɪɴ ʙᴏᴏᴋ ᴏɴᴇ? lolololol, oh what a sweet summer child i was. let's just say that Sophie this time around was a touch… annoying. and i mean that in the nicest way possible. cause, look. i liked Sophie, but man she just did not react in the way i would react. Ellie and I? we reacted in the same way. Sophie and I? negative.

i think what annoyed me the most about Sophie in THE DEVIL'S OWN was the fact that she was too soft when it came to Alejandro. i wanted her to stand her ground more often, and that was just… not who Sophie was.

for example, she would get justifiably annoyed or angry at Alejandro, and then boom. he'd wink at her and she'd be fine. idk, maybe that speaks volumes about my petty ass, but... i hold onto shit. i like to address shit. Sophie… didn't.

that said, Sophie did have her moments. for instance, i really liked her overall character arc. watching her deal with and learn to live with her PTSD was a really great storyline. her growth was a palpable thing and i was so proud of all the progress she made. another moment that made me obscenely happy was when she full on pulled a knife on a woman who was feeling up Alejandro. it was… unexpectedly hilarious because of how un-Sophie-like the move was.

all in all, Sophie as a heroine was… okay. i didn't hate her, but i didn't love her. i think it was a real case of preference and opposing attitudes. most people who've read this duet seem to love Sophie, and for good reason. thus, my mehhh-ness towards Sophie's character is very much a me thing.

✘ ᴡʜᴀᴛ ᴡᴀꜱ ᴜᴘ ᴡɪᴛʜ ᴛʜᴇ ɴɪɴᴛʜ ʜᴏᴜʀ ɪɴᴛʀᴏᴅᴜᴄᴛɪᴏɴ ᴏꜰ ᴀʟᴇᴊᴀɴᴅʀᴏ'ꜱ ?
seriously, what was up with that? i - i did not like it.

so, it went something like this. Alejandro and Sophie are having one of their rare, "deep talks." and while they're talking Alejandro mentions that he was married years ago. that marriage resulted in a two children, but when he went to jail his wife divorced him and left. he's never been in the kids lives and only sees their school pictures.

𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗲 𝗮𝘀𝘀 𝘀𝗵𝗶𝘁, 𝗮𝗺 𝗶 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁?

then shortly afterwards Tyler (one of Alejandro's sons) gets in trouble. that's basically the final straw for his mother, so she calls Alejandro and asks him to take Tyler for the summer. now, after all of that i was expecting some kind of really meaningful mini-arc between Alejandro and Tyler. did i get that? ummmm, i mean kinda… but not really. Tyler and Alejandro really don't talk much. and when they do talk there's nothing really meaningful said. i was expecting angst. i was expecting some lite drama. i was expecting… more.

in the end, i thought the introduction of Tyler was a missed opportunity. imo, the main problem with his introduction was how late his introduction was. it felt rushed and didn't have time to… marinate, if you will. again, he wasn't a bad character, but i wanted more from him and his relationship with Alejandro.

✔ ᴅᴇꜱᴘɪᴛᴇ ᴀʟʟ ᴍʏ ᴄᴏᴍᴘʟᴀɪɴᴛꜱ… ɪ ᴅɪᴅ ᴀᴄᴛᴜᴀʟʟʏ ʀᴇᴀʟʟʏ ʟɪᴋᴇ ᴛʜᴇ ʀᴏᴍᴀɴᴄᴇ ʙᴇᴛᴡᴇᴇɴ ᴀʟᴇᴊᴀɴᴅʀᴏ-ꜱᴏᴘʜɪᴇ. it's honestly the likely reason why i was so annoyed by the "all sex - no talk" vibe that this duet had going on.

there was something so sweet, lighthearted, and joyous about Alejandro-Sophie. they both added something to the others life that was missing. Sophie brought out Alejandro's more humorous side. she allowed him to see the lightness in life and gave him a place to hang up the darkness.

meanwhile, Alejandro provided Sophie with a safe place to rest her entire soul. additionally, he fought for her constantly. you could tell that he would take on the entire world if it would make her happy.

basically, what i'm trying to say is this, i didn't hate the romance between Alejandro-Sophie. in fact, i really enjoyed it. their romance had a ton of potential, and i think if they'd had more "couple moments" together i would've been wowed by them. alas, i am merely in-like with Alejandro-Sophie. but, as i always say, take my grumblings with a grain of salt, because from what i'm seeing a lot of people loved the romance.

3,5 'Louis & Laney' stars

Yes, I know that I'm talking about Louis and Laney all the time but they truly stole my heart here and I'm just not able to shut up about them. I was already enamored with this "couple" in the previous book - the mysterious hitman and feisty Alejandro's right hand (I'm not sure if Laney was truly his right hand but it felt like everything would go down without her, lol). Anyway, the sexual tension was as hot as Alejandro & Sophie's!

And it just got better in book 2. I often have a thing for side characters. Seriously, I stopped counting how many times I became obsessed with not-that-much-important-charachters-that-deserve-their-own-books and these two are definitely among this special elite of mine. I mean, they are so adorably scorching hot together!

I turn and Laney, who’s got herself set up at the dining room table, says to Luis, “If I ever get that lovesick, you’ll do me a solid and take me out, right?”
From the furthest spot away from her at the table, Luis just glares.

*************************************
Laney sighs dreamily. “Damn, I so need a good dicking.”
“Well, don’t look at me,” Niner says. Then we all swing our gazes pointedly to Luis, who’s got his phone out. Cool as can be, he turns up the volume on some game he’s playing, pretending we’re not here.

If I'm already babbling about side characters, why not some more, haha. Niner and Ben!! Another side couple that had all my attention whenever they were on a scene together or apart. They were so adorably hot! Also, Niner and Sophie's friendship was pure gold. I had a feeling they just adopted each other as siblings from the get-go. Simply said, all this found family had my whole heart and devotion 💗

As for Sophie & Alejandro... They had many scorching hot scenes together! Seriously fire emergency kind of hot🔥🔥🔥 but apparently, I was waiting in vain for some spankings. For all of Alejandro's teasing and promise, it was all just empty words *pouty face*

I can’t stop a smile from forming. “You’re cruising for a spanking.”
“And now you’re just buttering me up,” she sasses, planting a fleeting kiss on my lips before she starts walking again.

But they did make up for the lack of spankings in other sexy aspects 😉

“Such a good, dirty girl, doing everything you’re told.”
I groan outright now. The feel of his weight, his words in my ear; it’s all too much. “God, I wish I had time to torture you properly.”

However, outside of the sexual relationship, Alejandro and Sophie left me kind of cold. I didn't really felt that spark that was present in the first book. They were either having sex or arguing with each other. I have no complaints about lots of sexy times but I did wish to see them acting as a loving couple more instead of just being on a verge of break up for the majority of the book.

“Why is it so hard to be mad at you?” she grouses.
I hook a hand behind her neck and pull her close. “I’ll let my cock explain it to you later.” Her lips part slightly and I barely restrain a groan.

It's no surprise I was delighted by the family scene. I know I sound like a broken record but every moment with Scott and Ellie and the girls are so magical ✨ and I didn't know how much I needed that conversation between Alejandro and Abuela but it turned out to become my favorite scene in the book 💛

Where this story fell short was the pacing. In the first half of the book, not much has happened. We were basically observing their everyday lives. However, the second half was packed with various plots and it was a little too much because everything appeared to be rushed and too easily resolved. Also,

Through these ups and downs in Alejandro and Sophie's relationship, there was something I really liked about the ending. I'm not really sure if this is such a huge spoiler but just in case, I'm gonna put it under a spoiler tag. Alejandro and Sophie decide

I'm glad that I was on this journey with Sophie and Alejandro, and to see the conclusion of their story, despite preferring their first book. Very excitingly looking forward to the next duet because it means we're gonna probably get more of my two favorite people 💞

“Keep looking at me like that, mariposa, and you’ll find yourself on your knees.”
“You make that sound like a bad thing.” Romantic may not be the first adjective I’d use to describe my man, but his calling me
butterfly makes my heart flutter every time.

The ARC of the book provided by the author in exchange for an honest review. Thank you, Lisa!

It's the second part of a duet so make sure you've read Fall from Grace first.

Okay, if you are like me and don't enjoy the horrors of mafia romance but love the chemistry and the action, this one would be pretty perfect for you!

Meyer is really a fabulous author. Some of you probably know how much I love Cara McKenna, Julie Kriss, Eve Dangerfield, and some others who give us real people with real feelings. Well, count Meyer into this company because she does not leave a stone unturned and she knows how to write PEOPLE and not just characters. People who mess up but also grow and learn to make it better, people one could totally imagine knowing in real life.

Then there is this other thing.
You know how it goes in romance, something happens, the main characters separate but find back to each other again  - and then HEA, end of story. Well, Meyer does better - she writes duets where she gets into all those things not many talk about: like how would two such different people go on, how would their relationship actually function, what would they be ready to compromise - or not?!

I think it's easy to write a HEA and let people guess the rest. Getting into the REALNESS of it  is something not many can pull off without losing the characters and the spark from the first books. But not Meyer! She's not afraid of jumping into the "post-HEA" mess and making us fall in love with the people she writes about even more.

I'm not gonna get into many details of what happened here, you don't want me to spoil it for you. But let me tell you, Sophie and Alejandro were fabulous together!!!

I believed Sophie and her feelings at every turn. I wasn't happy about her every action but that's the thing, people in books don't always act the way you want them - and that's the beauty of it! Alejandro went through some tough personal moments and became someone even more perfect for Sophie.

So all in all, I loved the duet and absolutely cannot wait for more books by this author!

so the book started off great. better than great in fact but then cue chapter 5 which went something like this:

*Alejo and Sophia having one of their very rare intense talks*

Alejo: so i have an ex-wife and two kids whose lives i haven't really been a part of bc i was in prison at the time and i mean i am a big bad drug dealer so my wife didn't want me there and then she divorced me too

Sophia: omg that is so sad im sorry

um just wait a second here okay just give me a minute okay just um— wtf?!?

if im dating a guy, id like him to tell me at the beginning of our relationship that he has two teenage kids and an ex-wife, not after almost a year of being together. but obviously Alejo didn't get the memo bc suddenly he just dropped the kid bomb and im not kidding i read the page three times bc i thought he was joking and i kept waiting for him to yell April's fool or some shit but that never came..

but instead, one of the boy's did come. to live with them. and Sophia, our no emotion showing heroine just went like k its just a guinea pig not like its a teenage kid who's getting out of hand and my boyfriend's ex-wife left on our doorstep bc she couldn't handle him. cool cool cool. no big deal.

now listen, Tyler was a good kid okay nothing against him but the kid bomb felt so forced and out of place bc you just don't still us that halfway through the second book about Alejo's secret family. its just not done.

anyway, moving on to Sophia. She was an anomaly who was affected by nothing at all.

My boyfriend kid? no problem
A video of my boyfriend with another chick? no problem
I just shot someone? no problem
My boyfriend at a strip club? no fucking problem

Alejo has to just wink at me and fuck me till the daylight and idc

every fight, argument, disagreement they had ended in him fucking her into submission. it infuriated me to no end that every argument that they had ended like that.

honestly there was like no talking in the book. between the kid and Alejo? nothing i wanted the kid to rebel, Alejo to be frustrated, Sophia to be anything but so complacent, some drama and some angst but i honestly got no real feelings, just things being resolved on their own.

now the romance. ngl i was more invested in Niner//Ben and Luis//Layne than Alejo and Sophie. now this is not me saying i didn't like them bc despite all their faults, i loved them together. they bought out this other side to each other and they made a really good couple but i mean compared to Ninner and Ben? ehh also i need a book about Niner and Ben pls

so overall, pretty enjoyable. it was fast paced and gave a good end to the duet but im not sure if its something i'll re-read. i didn't hate the book, but i guess i just wanted more

A bark of laughter has me looking up at him in surprise to find his eyes lit up with all the love he has for me. I may be the devil's own, but he too, is mine.

5+ stars!

Holy crap, what a freaking story! After reading Fall from Grace, I didn't think I could love the sequel more than I loved book one in this duet, but Lisa absolutely blew away my high expectations and delivered a story full of heart, romance, and redemption--and I truly loved every single word. Her writing style is so effortless yet beautiful, and I was completely swept back into Sophie and Alejandro's story as soon as I started the first chapter.

If the first novel of this duet was centered around Sophie and her decision to let Alejandro's world into her life, I feel like this novel really spotlighted Alejandro and how he was able to grow and become someone who was able to balance his impenetrable persona as El Jefe with his softer side that only Sophie sees. I loved watching Alejandro's transformation as he learns to truly respect and consider Sophie as an individual, instead of just another person to do his bidding.

However in the end, Alejandro remains the ultimate sweet alphahole who will leave you blushing and wanting to smack him upside the head in the same sentence--truly my favorite kind of hero. Lisa still managed to weave in some twists and danger I did not see coming, but the undeniable romance between Alejandro and Sophie completely steal the show. I cannot recommend this duet enough as it is definitely one of my top reads for 2021 ♡

Sigh. The sequel to Fall From Grace is glorious and will absolutely shatter you. Of course Alejandro and Sophie cannot live without each other and as they navigate various tumultuous events, their lives deepen. There are some definite surprises ahead and I am shocked by how well Sophie handles everything. Do yourself a favor and read this whole series. You will fall in love with every single character.

"I guess I knew this thing between us wasn’t going to be easy."

Alejandro and Sophie's tumultuous journey continues in the second and last installment of their duet, The Devil's Own.

Love is a challenge, but thrown in the mix family issues and illicit business with all the threats and danger it can brings and I found myself absorbed into an utterly addictive world.

The authors handled the emotions and feelings with brio, weither it was the scorching hot tension, the maddening doubts and the upmost silly, priceless banter. Several times, I even found myself laughing out loud.

Of course Alejandro infuriated me, and I loved every moment of it. But I also felt for him. He kept trying, learning without breaking his broody and intense persona. In that regard, Ll Meyer mastered his evolution.

Sophie kept him on his toes in the most sexy ways, for him ;), while he still managed to make his point.

“Why is it so hard to be mad at you?” she grouses. I hook a hand behind her neck and pull her close. “I’ll let my cock explain it to you later.”

They are so good together, not only on a chemistry point of view but the growing they spark in one another is stunning.

This duet is about healing and building your family. They did both, according their own definition of things. So refreshing! This duet is a page turner, I highly recommend it!

“Do we understand each other?” he demands. “I love you and there’s nothing you can do to change that.”

This book was so good, it's the second book with Alejandro and Sophie as the main characters. I couldn't put it down because I was all in with seeing Alejandro grow. He had to learn how to be alpha but also show his "queen" the soft side to him. Sophie was perfect for him as always, they both grew together as Sophie learned her new role also. When to surrender and when to stand up. Their banter back and forth had me laughing out loud at times and the disagreements well some where warranted and some weren't. I absolutely loved Niner in this book also .. He is freaking hilarious. I loved this entire series and everything else LL has written. Thank you for taking me on the journey with you!!!

I've finally come across a book where the mafia wasn't idealistic. The tough guys who are actually total pussies, explosions, blood everywhere, yet miraculously everyone survives... Nope, none of these here... Though guys who can be kinda sweet and cold-blooded, gun chase, ambush, and on the other hand ordinary meetings, death starring, hacking and blackmailing. Mafia style😎 Well, not that I know how it really is😅 Yet that way is more to my liking.

“Remember when Sal Benson came at you with a knife a few years ago?” I snort because he sounds wistful. “Those were the days?” “Yeah.”

Speaking of mafia, I absolutely loved guys on Alejandro's crew!😍 Irreplacable Niner, brooding Luis, sweet JJ, ... And the woman, of course, I cannot forget about Lanely, can I🤩 She rocks!

“If anyone has the authority to override that, it’s me. Don’t make me ask again.”

I would love to see more about this "work romance" it has been going on, truly!!! 😍💖 Nope, I won't tell who I have in mind🤭 I was also hoping for some side story to be more developed. I got some candies but I'd have liked to see more.
Scotty and his girls got a chance to shine again!!!🤩 Yes, I was delighted and very happy to see them again! They will be my number one always💗

El Jefe couldn't do without his loyal stuff, especially after he got Sophie in his life. Sexy, lovely, kind girl and also very very determined, stubborn actually, who occupied his mind and time in full. And I need to cheer Alejandro; he was doing way better job putting up with Sophie when she was irrationally determined about sth than me!

“I never try to make your life difficult.”
“It just comes naturally, then?”

Alejandro is one lucky son of a bitch resolving relationship difficulties (some later than sooner) in a way to receive quite a lot of make-up sexy times🔥🔥

I turn my head, needing to be closer to him and he catches my lips with his own. Our tongues tangle and desire surges in me again. Wherever this is going . . .

Good conclusion to their story but I wish they got married in the end.

I also skimmed a bit because it dragged at times but overall great duet.

If I could give this more than 5 stars I would. I don’t even know where to start… but I’ll try. ⭐️

LL Meyer is a truly talented writer. She doesn’t just tell you the story, she makes you feel it. You become immersed in it. You feel everything. The highs are so high and the lows are scarily lows. I cried a few times reading this, but not just a few tears, I cried from my heart. Plus it’s STEAMY.. the walk in closet. The club… 🔥🔥🔥

Alejandro… ooof 🔥🔥🔥 That man is H.O.T!!!!! I mean as Sophie points out he’s a cave man and a barbarian, but in the best of ways. Seeing how he grows, how he loves Sophie and really would do anything for her is just beautiful. For a man like him, it’s massive and I truly adore him.♥️

Sophie. His mariposa 🦋 Shes such a kind, caring soul. On the surface she seems soft and maybe considered weak, but she’s stronger than she’s even aware of. Being with Alejandro gives her strength and I love that.🦋

Niner is hilarious and bar the main two, my favourite character. I love that he’s the funny to Alejandros serious. Brilliant character.😝

Laney and Luis… LOVE these two and would like to learn more about them. What makes them tick and how they became who they are.🖤

Little mention for Bruce Wayne… SO CUTE! Love how he works his way into Alejandros heart 🐕

I loved this duo SO much. Book 1, Fall From Grace is already in my top books of 2021 list, this has joined it.

Thank you Lisa, for a fabulous book 🙏🏻📚♥️

Ooooo Alejandro! My gawd this man is so MINE!!

Sorry ladies, take a FN hike because there is no way I am ever giving him up!

We pick up right where we left off with our sweetheart heroine and alphahole mafia boss. If they’re not bantering, they’re fucking and oooooo is it Hot Hot Hot! Yesss, pose me like your little doll!

Surprises kept me on my toes and the supporting characters are EVERYTHING! This whole group, or family, has a permanent place in my heart! Even Bruce Wayne!!

I LOVED this duet! Sophie and Alejandro have a permanent spot on my bookshelf!

This duet has absolutely consumed my life the last few days. If I am not working or sleeping, I was reading these two amazing books. Greedily, I let it capture my every thought.

Alejandro became this ever present need the more I read. Sure he let his jerkish, bossy ways surface every now and then. Ok, more often than not. But the more I got to know him, the more I knew that was his way of saying he cared for someone. I adored him so.

Seeing Sophie as she became more and more immersed in Alejandro’s world, showed she was more than capable to handle being a part of it. She grew and we watched her become his queen when she easily could have became a pampered, whiny thing. No one likes whiny things.

This story was absolutely everything. I wanted a mafia’ish story at the time, and I got it…and so much more. It was just everything!! 5 Stars!!

Red-Hot Mafia Romance—Bad boys, thrilling suspense, and boundary-pushing situations.
Get ready for an intense read because Alejandro and Sophie
are seriously addictive!

A twist of fate causes their worlds to collide, and they become entangled in a web of secrets, lies, and danger—learning they have a love deeper than either expected.

“This man, for all his faults, loves me. And heaven help me, I don’t think I’ll ever get my heart back from him.”

In the midst of chaos, where power and danger rules, murder and betrayal are a way of life, and nothing comes without a price. A string of events could threaten to destroy what they built. But their strength, their love, and their need to protect one another will prove more powerful.

Ms. Meyer gives this complex storyline—depth, and she draws you into a world of gritty realism, outstanding characters and a heavy dose of red hot sex.
What a perfect ending to the Worlds Collide duets!

Thank you for the advanced copy ♥️♥️♥️ I could not put it down!!

This was the perfect book to end this duet! Picking up where the first book left off, the reader gets to see the evolution of Alejandro and Sophie’s relationship. The ups and downs and the good and the bad as they learn more about each other. While Alejandro struggles to keep his life as a mafia boss as far away from Sophie as possible, she inevitably gets drawn in. Being with Sophie also helps to repair fractured relationships with his family. Their passion for each other definitely lit up the pages and this was a very steamy read. Alejandro is pure sexy alpha – had me fanning myself at times!
I was engaged from the first word to the last – I was caught up in Alejandro and Sophie’s love story as much as I was in the intrigue and power struggles in Alejandro’s world. I love the way the other characters from Alejandro’s world were incorporated into their lives. Niner will forever be one of my favorites, but I would love to see more of Laney and Luis.
This was a well written, steamy read that should be a must for any TBR. Advanced copy provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.

I couldn't put this book down!! This is darker and grittier than the first part of the duet, but just as captivating. The pace was brilliant and even though this book was packed full of action, there was also room for character growth and vulnerable moments. I love how flawed these characters are and how they had to work to make their relationship work. Their love and willingness to learn to hold on to each other was beautiful. The chemistry and steamy scenes were hot, and more impactful somehow because of their growing connection. This book went a lot deeper than the first, and I think the author does an absolutely exceptional job at showing us what happens after the 'HEA' as these two navigate life. Loved this duet and will definitely re-read it.

Title: The Devil’s Own
Author: LL Meyer
Hero/Heroine: Sophie and Alejandro
Trope: Age gap Mafia Romance
Rating: 5/5

THE GOOD

This story picks up where “Fall from Grace” left off and this is Book 4 of the World Collide series as well as the second part of Sophie and Alejandro’s duet.
As usual with this author, the writing is impeccable and this is as much of a page turner as all her other books.
But what really kept me gripped are the characters (main and secondary). Sophie satisfyingly grows in strength throughout the story, and takes her place at Alejandro’s side but remains very much her kind and funny self. (She effortlessly wears two crowns: Queen of the Underworld and Queen of the one-liners!)
On the flip side, Alejandro recaptures his humanity and reconnects with the complex yet decent man that we all knew him to be at heart.
As they navigate gang in-fighting, betrayal and prejudice for their age-gap, mixed race love story, they always find their way back to each other, in very believable ways where both of them remain true to who they are.
This is a very mature love story, with nothing facile or silly about it, and it psychologically rings true. Hence, no suspension of disbelief is needed, in contrast to many other books in this Mafia niche.
A word on the sex scenes, torrid. Christian Grey can go and put his clothes back on in his kinky red room. Alejandro Bernal-Acosta is in the house. I.e. if you liked Fifty Shades of Grey or Sylvia Day’s books, drop everything and get your hands on this little gem. You can thank me later!

THE BAD

Not enough of Luis and Laney, by far!! They’re both such fantastic characters and I just NEED to know what they’re getting up to behind closed doors!! Please, please a book about them, or a novella at least!
Also from about 10% in, I started waiting for the ‘big fight’ with bated breath, as it kept being foreshadowed, but it came quite late in the story and was rather short. I’m not mad though, because that created a pretty good thriller to add to the swoony romance and the terminally hot sex scenes!

OVERALL THOUGHTS: if you ever read one Mafia romance, make it this one.

STEAM LEVEL: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

I've been wanting this book as soon as I finished Fall from Grace.
Continuing the story of Alejandro and Sophie, I loved it, I fell in love with Alejandro in the last book but now all I have is heart shape eyes.
His Bossy, possessive, alpha man attitude to Sophie and life in general had me biting my knuckles.
That is my favorite type of Alpha role.
Love, Stubbornness and betrayal through the story, I loved watching their relationship develop.
Unexpected Characters appear which melted my heart.
And Bruce Wayne is back, which I think I loved more than Alejandro.

Meyer does not disappoint.

Sigh. This one was my favourite of all four books. I love the way Alejandro and Sophie changed throughout the book. I love the development of the side characters like Niner, Luis, Ben, and Laney. All the family reunions at the end was the best way possible to end this series. Just one thing… I want stories about Jeremy and Aaron now!

The perfect ending to this thrilling duet.

I was thrilled to read more about Alejandro and Sophie’s complex relationship. Tons of elements fused this tale together, creating a suspenseful mixture packed with steamy scenes, heart-to-heart talks, issues from the past, and dark confessions.

Alejandro had to do a lot of adjusting in his personal life and his business to make keeping Sophie a permanent deal. Even though he was still the confident alpha-hole he’s always been, he needed to grovel for forgiveness when he would mess up with Sophie. I loved how she wasn’t afraid to call him on his poor choices and held her own against him. It made the apologies believable.

Sophie grew a lot in this book. The terrified woman from before absorbed some of that confidence that Alejandro gives off and grew a spine of steel. She wouldn’t let him boss her around the way he had before. It definitely earned her more respect within his organization. She proved time and again she could accept and survive in Alejandro’s criminal world.

Things I absolutely loved about this book were how this harden criminal would become vulnerable only for his leading lady—it made their relationship much more entertaining. I adore that Bruce Wayne became a larger part in their lives—almost like he was an emotional support animal for both of them, going to them when they needed the most comfort. The banter had me laughing out loud several times. I snorted when the mint-green sandals made another appearance.

Without giving spoilers, I was delighted with people from Alejandro’s past weaving their way back into his new life with Sophie. Several tender moments between supporting characters had my heart feeling the love. The moment his mom saw the tattoo…😭

The plot never dulled with this story. The action scenes and steam kept me turning page after page. Their romance is untraditional and I found that encouraging to read in a book. Not every relationship needs to fit in a box—Alejandro and Sophie’s relationship is a prime example of if you want it, then you make it work.

My rating is: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Well, I had high expectation - what can I say? I really loved the first duet so I was rightly disappointed with this one. It felt like a different writer would write it.

I did not really like the characters.
I did not really like the plot.
It was not believable at all (even in mafia setting) - what king of underground just takes a holiday and goes hiding the minute his enemies make a treat? Sending her to hiding, I would understand that. But him? When he talks about how he cannot show any weakness? Please....

Also, I did not like the ending. I understand the author showed with the no children/no wedding ending the differences between the sisters. I am also the last person who would believe you need a child for a happy ending but I don't think it was explained at all.

Another fabulous book in this series! I was left gagging for more after the last book (Fall from Grace) so was delighted to read this one.
I was so endeared to Sophie’s character, going into a relationship with Alejandro was risky and she needed to have her eyes wide open but I don’t think even she could have anticipated what would happen - don’t worry no spoilers here!!
I loved the development of Sophie’s relationships with Los Santos and it was great to see some humour within the darkness.
5 star all day long ❤️

I would like to thank Lisa for giving me the opportunity to read this book!

Never would I have expected to have such a surprise from Alejandro. His acceptance towards Tyler, is just wonderful. I honestly didn’t expect it from him. He is a bad boy with a big heart inside him. I wish there was more interactions between Alejandro & Tyler!

The stubbornness between Alejandro & Sophie!!!! But that’s how relationships are, which is one thing i like about Lisa’s writing, there’s always an element of reality in it.

The ending…. is just perfect.
And, please release a POV from Luis & Laney!!

What to say about this series. I really loved how authentic Alejandro was to himself. He was so prickly and mean at times but really loved Sophia.

Sophia was accepting but didn’t take any shit. Sometimes she annoyed me… but mostly, I could see that she really accepted him.

There were twists in this book that I didn’t see coming and it made the book exciting.

I’m really loving this author.

It’s been a few days since I had an opportunity to read The Devil's Own and I still can’t stop thinking about it.

The story itself starts where the first book ended and it gives us more time to process and observe the relationship between Sophie and Alejandro. The road to their “happy ending” is not easy but I enjoyed how Lisa portrayed the obstacles and how characters were sometimes forced to deal with the problems.
It's not an easy read. I cried, screamed and, was mad about choices made (talking about you Alejandro!) but with all of this angst you will get lovely scenes, small snippets you may not expect, and steam that will leave you breathless.

I am going to repeat myself (because I just can’t help myself) but Lisa´s writing is captivating, addicting and so well composed that she makes it so easy to love all of her characters. She describes all the small details, things that others ignore and makes you believe that you are not reading but living the character´s life.

Overall, this was again a phenomenal read and even though there were not many scenes with Scotty and Ellie, I still enjoyed every character and every chapter. So, if you love the mafia, age gap, and scenes that will leave you speechless you absolutely MUST read this duet. It will give you everything and more…

I would like to thank the Author for the opportunity to read this book as an ARC (please, never stop writing Lisa, I am looking forward to reading more from your talented fingers! Keep them coming!)
