Simon and Emma have a love story that transcends time. Their story begins ten years after the conclusion of book three in the League of Lords series. Simon is now a successful businessman with a trail of women, but he has never forgotten Emma. The problem? She’s a time traveler who lives decades in the past, she abandoned him, and she stole something valuable from his family. However, knowing of her tragic fate, Simon is unrelenting in his search for a way to the past to save her.

When Simon brings Emma back to his time, he is determined to save her and then wash his hands of her. He hasn’t forgiven her for abandoning him ten years ago. She, in turn, hasn’t forgiven him for his transgressions. Can this pair forgive the wounds from the past and seek a happier future together, or will doubts, fears, and a person who wants to force Emma back to her own time stand in their way?

The last time we saw Simon, he was a young man. Now, he’s a bit older and much harder than he was before, and, though successful and loved by his family, Simon has many internal struggles. Because of his fears, he has closed himself off to everyone except those closest to him, and he does not want to let Emma in. He is slow to trust, as is she. They actually have a lot in common, including their stubborn pride, recklessness, upbringing, and dislike of their respective gifts.

You lose yourself dissecting the boundaries between who you were and who you are, Mac. It’s a tireless route, bouncing between them. When is there time to simply live?

The enemies-to-lovers romance between Emma and Simon is filled with angst and frustration and so much chemistry. Connected by their past, both feel betrayed by different things that happened, and because they couldn’t and still don’t communicate, they’ve never fully discussed what occurred. I think this lack of communication and assumptions that were made led to much of their conflict. They are blinded by their strong feelings for each other, and their hurt is deep. I don’t think they’d be as hurt and angry with each other if they didn’t deeply care for one another. However, it’s clear that they care deeply for each other. They both try so hard to resist their feeling, but they always end up gravitating toward each other. Neither is perfect, and they both make mistakes, which leads to some interesting situations and conversations. However, their long-time love for each other is strong and filled with explosive chemistry!

This is a wonderful continuation of the League of Lords series with messages of forgiveness, letting go of the past, learning to trust, and embracing love. It’s also lovely to see what some of the characters in the previous books are doing. Since ten years have passed, they have all grown and changed. I loved hearing about and seeing some of the newer additions to the family and how each couple has fared.

The threat of Emma being returned to her time looms over Simon and Emma. Their constant fears, Emma’s uncontrolled gift, and the person trying to find her add suspense and tension to the story. Other elements, like Simon’s ghost companion (love him!), the time-traveling, and more also help to create an interesting and unique story. I think readers who enjoy historical romance with a supernatural spin will enjoy this book. You can probably read this as a standalone novel, but many of the characters are introduced or are the focus of previous books in the series, so you would probably benefit from reading those. Thanks so much to Tracy Sumner for a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

This is the fourth book in the series, it’s easily read on its own but to fully appreciate it I’d recommend reading the series in order. It takes place a decade after the third book & Simon is now a grown man & has spent the last ten years trying to find Emma. A well written book with strong characters, I really liked Emma who had been kept from Simon through no fault of her own. I liked Simon but wanted to shake him several times. I loved the attraction between the pair which was beyond electric. This series has been different from the norm & I loved the time travelling aspects. I found myself engrossed & read it in an afternoon
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

Fifteen years ago, a girl appeared from the past and stole young Simon's heart before disappearing. Determined to find her, Simon tracks Emma down in the past and convinces her to come forward with him in time. Now, with the help of his friends he must mold her into a lady who will be accepted by society.

--

I had high hopes for this new-to-me author. The world is fascinating... think X-men meets the Nevers with a dash of gaslamp fantasy and of course my favorite trope of all -- time travel. The premise sounded fascinating.

But the book itself was not.

I found the prose stilted and almost incomprehensible. I literally could not read it or understand it. There were so many grammar and punctuation faults that my mind just broke and I couldn't enjoy the story. Worse, the story started in the wrong place. What should have been chapter one was the prologue. A prologue that takes up 10% of the book.

I kept feeling like I was missing things. Not just things that had happened in previous books, but things relevant to this book. Things like what happened in the past. There was so much infodump on top of the stilted prose that I quickly got bored. I made it the 30% mark before I gave up. I had liked Emma initially but as the story went on she quickly lost her spark. Simon was just sort of there. I'd be hard pressed to name anything memorable about him. I can't even remember what his power was... and that's a problem.

The world is fascinating. Emma had potential. But it was a lot of potential unrealized. The book was in desperate need of multiple types of editing from developmental to help with the pacing and plotting, to line edit to help with the stilted prose, and even a copy edit to deal with the very distracting punctuation problems.

But because I couldn't read this. And because I DNFed this book. I can only give this:

One Star

Will he be able to let the past go for a future with her ...

I have read two books in this series, and the beginning each time unsettled me as I have to grasp with the heroes’s turn of mind. This time though it was a bit easier.
I had just to check with the previous book as it was set at a different time. Amusing for a time travel story. And yes, the action takes place 10 years after the end of the last story.

So the last time I read about Simon, he was in between a man and a boy. Now he is a full grown man. His mission is to retrieve the woman who has filled his thoughts during the last ten years from a gruesome fate. He has finally found a mean to get to her.
But he is a very angry man. Determined to save her life but after that to wash his hands of her. His younger self then his older too never thought she could have had issues which could have prevented her to come back to him. So he believed once he offers her a different future, he has repaid in some sort what he owes her.
Simon is a man who can hold a grudge for a long time, he can’t let go of the past, is it because he sees the deceased, yet what ever are his circumstances, he has never been able to close the door of his past. Thus it also closes his heart to a future with someone else, so angry he is at all those who left him, blind to the others he has found on his path afterward.
Emma is from a different time, a different period where life was even harsher if you were not born in the right place. Which was alas not her case. Each day is a battle, even worse if you were a woman and different. She never had someone to help or tutor her, so it is her, all alone who deals with her cursed gift. She could have turned it to her advantage and profit from her ability to travel into time, but never did she used it to her gain. Why she tried, and tried again to reach for the boy who saw her, really saw her. But when she was able to find to him again, he was no more a boy but a man, a man who seemed to have her long forgotten as he was warming someone else bed.

Their relationship as adults is one of angst as Simon is unable to forgive her for not coming back when she is not guilty of his reproaches. She is just an emotional outlet he uses to keep others at arm-length, if no one breaks into his armor once more, he won’t hurt be again. When Emma all along longed for their reunion. Ready for more, but rejected again and again.
I would have slapped Simon many times for throwing tantrums like a spoiled child, deaf and blind that Emma was little more than a child when they meet, so not really controlling her talent.
A bit of groveling would have been nice from his side.
4.5 stars

It was fun to see again the other members of the league, older, more poised.

𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹 onscreen lovemaking scenes.

I have been granted an advance copy by the author, here is my true and unbiased opinion.

Oh, my if I could give this book seven or eight starts I would. What a story, lost lovers, Intrigue,
ghosts, time travel and second chances. How could one not fall in love with this book?
Simon Alexander was rescued from a life in the slums to become a member of the ton with help from those he calls his brothers now. They give him help, a family, and education. Which he used to become a wealthy man. Only he can't let go of his past. He doesn't feel worthy of all he has and still feels like he belongs in the slums. As a young boy just starting to be a man he was haunted by a woman in his dreams, them finally met her only to have her steal precious stone from him and disappear. He has been searching for her for ten years.
Emma Breslin is a time traveler and found the stone that will help her in other time with a young boy. She visited him in dreams , till she could figure out how to come thru time to get the stone then she left him alone. She is living day by day in poverty when the only man she has been able to trust and lost shows up out of the blue ?
Now the real story starts, neither Simon or Emma can forgive things about the other from the past.
The attraction is there and feelings neither want to talk about are even stronger. He is all grown up
up and handsome as sin. All the ladies in the ton think so too. Emma is not at all pleased with the gossip around town about Simon and his affairs.
Simon can't forgive Emma for leaving him and stealing from him, but he can't leave her alone either. As his friends help her get ready for her own Cinderella story. She will be a lady and have
a coming out in society. Heaven help the upper crust of London.
We get to re met up with the wonderful charters of the past books, who either help or get in the way with this couple. Can Simon and Emma put the past behind them and see what they could have ?
Will the evil following Emma win? Can Simon stand by and let the gentleman of the ton, dance and
fawn over her? So much to figure out and overcome.
This is a standalone story but this series is so much better if read in order. Each book has a lot of history of the characters and how they all become a family. I would recommend reading them in order.
I received and ARC from the author and wish to thank her. This is my honest opinion and am freely giving it.

A fantastic end for such a great series!

This book is the story of Simon, the youngest Alexander brother and the woman he found in his mind, then saw in reality, only to be left without her. He travels to her time, succeeds on bringing her to his safer time, where the League of people with mystical powers can protect her. But he finds it hard to connect with her, after he feels she has abandoned him.

I felt this book was the highest point of the series, their powers were the strongest to alter reality and to leave with, and both characters had such strong personalities. I loved Emma, with her wit, her attitude, her mature understanding and her skills in handling reading and dancing and music. Simon is a troubled character and yet so endearing, a man who never forgot where he came from and a man willing to change the world. And travel time for his love. Such a special love story!

With their romance we have a wonderful ending to this extraordinarily and such an original series. I loved each and every story!

As I mentioned in my review the Duke is Wicked, I usually don't start in the middle of a series. Because I often find that you miss out on part of the total story. But since I had already jumped into this League of Lords series, I figured I could read on in The Hellion is Tamed. This story is about Simon Alexander who has been taken in by the League from an earlier age. But although he is grown up now, he has a hard time leaving his old -and poor-life behind.
For over a decade, he has been trying to find Emma, a girl with the gift to time travel. She broke his heart and stole something from the League. However, since Simon knows she will suffer a terrible fate if she stays in her own time, he has been searching for her ever since she disappeared ten years ago.
Emma has always been struggling with her gift. She can 't always jump to the correct year. So when she took the stone from the League she jumped back into history. When she tried to come back to Simon to explain, she failed to get into the right era. Until she spotted something, she didn't want to see.
Simon never forgave Emma for leaving him. So, after rescuing her from a terrible fate and getting her back to his own era, he is determined to stay clear from her. mistrust and wrong perceptions keep Emma and Simon from reconnecting, while their passion is still alive.
How will their story end? Find out for yourself in this wonderful read. If you haven't read the first few books of the series, you might end up a little dizzier since the story jumps from era to era and back again. I had a hard time keeping up, while having read only part three and four. So, three out of five stars from me and a special thank you to Netgalley for providing the arc.

“The Hellion is Tamed” is book 4 in the League of Lords series by author Tracy Sumner. You can definitely enjoy this book on its own, but once you do, be warned that you’re going to want to go back and start at the beginning of this fantastic series. It’s that good.

“He was stunning, laid out there in silvery, stray moonbeams. Dark and light, shadows and hollows, mahogany eyes burning through her, his face carved in sage lines in the glow.”

Simon is a man who quite literally sees the dead, those he calls his “haunts”. It’s ironic then, that he is himself haunted by his own past as a child growing up in the slums of London. Although he’s spent most of his life surrounded by his family of friends, and with their help grew up to be an educated, successful businessman accepted within the elite circles of high society, in his heart he still sees himself as an unworthy thief. Emma appeared to him ten years ago and the connection they made was silent yet palpable. They are truly kindred spirits, as she is from the same slums as he, only decades earlier. Now that circumstances bring them together again across 80 years of time, each must figure out how to forgive the other for all that happened during that decade of time since last they saw each other. The twists and turns of the plot kept me thoroughly engaged in the story, as did the nuances of the personalities of both main characters.

This is the type of book that’s difficult to review because I want to tell you so much about it but I can’t, because I don’t want to ruin the experience of discovery for you. Trust me when I tell you that this story is an exquisite combination of intrigue, sweetness, melancholy, inspiration, heartbreak, wit, passion, mystery and triumph. It is beautifully written by an author who possesses the ability to create magic with her words.

I read an advanced reader copy of this book, and am voluntarily sharing my honest thoughts and opinions about it.

The Hellion is Tamed by Tracy Sumner is another heart tugging, riveting entry in the League of Lords series. Emotionally engaging and lyrical in its execution the writing both astounds and satisfies this reader’s expectation. Haunting and at times tragic we follow the story of Simon Alexander from his painful childhood to his rescuing and acceptance into a family of now his adopted brothers each of whom are gifted with supernatural abilities as is Simon.
But Simon’s life has also been haunted by a mysterious female time traveler who has stolen a mystical gem from the League and he is determined to get it back and find her.
Simon’s path has been devoted to gaining the knowledge that will aid him in succeeding with those plans.
This book was absolutely one of the best historical, paranormal romances and a feast for the senses in all ways. I was thoroughly engaged with the expertly crafted characters, a plot that flowed smoothly from scene to scene and to the subsequent connection formed between the two leads
once they encounter each other, and they most assuredly will encounter each other, kismet.
All told this narrative coalesces into a profound and wonderfully executed story.

A gentleman who came from the slums and a time travelling heroine... imagination at it's best!

Getting off the streets and being taken into the household of a Duke, he is able to be with other people having paranormal abilities and begins to develop his talents of time travel and other things.

She is a time traveler who has taken something from the Duke, to help another. They had met before years ago and now he was determined to find her.

Engaging story with great characters and storyline!

“I’ve wanted you, although I didn’t truly know what that meant, since the first moment I set eyes on you. Even when I couldn’t speak to you, when you were trapped halfway between your world and mine, I wanted you. More than want. Ravenous need. Don’t ever think, no matter what happens, that you aren’t mine.”

Simón could not escape his past. Not his abandonement, not the slums, not his terrors, not his haunts and most definitely that one that left him last. Emmaline couldn't control her power and she most definitely couldn't control her racing heart when it came to Simon.

The story was intriguing and the intimate scenes were on fire. Some little things irritated me about Simon.
1. He never acknowledged that she didn't need forgiveness for leaving. She couldn’t control her powers.
2. When she spoke about her mother, no condolences were offered. Not one word.
3. When she admitted she had come back and to what, again, it was like he didn't care.

I have been looking forward to the League of Lords book about Simon and Emma and am happy to report that it doesn't disappoint! Simon has been accompanied by the dead souls or 'haunts' around him since birth and many people have considered him to be mentally unstable since he routinely holds conversations with ghosts. Then there is Emma, a time traveler who stole his heart when she snatched a special power jewel known as 'The Soul Catcher," even though neither knew how to communicate with the other at that time. Their relationship is fraught with missteps, misunderstandings and challenges. Nevertheless, no one else will do for either of them. There are so many ups and downs, plot twists and turns, but this book brings better understanding of their abilities and of each other. I thank Tracy Sumner for an advance review copy and I am voluntarily leaving this honest review.

This book is from an author who is new to me, so I hadn't read the previous books in the series. Although, it says it can be read as a stand-alone, I personally felt a bit lost without reading the previous books. The main characters meet when Simon is younger and he falls hard for her. He can commune with the dead and meets Emma first when he is younger, because she can time walk. Neither of them give their trust easily due to past hurts which causes a lot of ups and downs in their relationship. Simon will do anything to keep Emma safe and therefore near him unless it's admitting he's in love with her. Only when faced with a challenging situation does he finally open up! I enjoyed this book and I would definitely read other books from this author in future.

Since I had mixed feelings on the last book in this series, I wasn't sure if I should pick this one up. I am so glad that I did. I received a free copy of this ebook from the publisher through Netgalley. This is my honest and voluntarily given review. Everyone in the League of Lords has a supernatural gift. Simon talks to ghosts and is quick with his hands. Simon goes back eighty years in time to bring Emma and the Soul Catcher jewel back to his time. Simon wants to raise her status in society just like his adopted brothers did for him. Emma came to their time years ago and stole the Soul Catcher from the League to help her fine-tune her time travel. It has taken him ten years to find her and he wants to keep her in his time for protection her. Even though he is strongly attracted to her, he doesn't trust that she will stay in his time. Even though this is part of a series, this book can be enjoyed as a standalone. This book has suspense, humor, romance, plenty of sizzle, and a few steamy scenes. I love time travel books, but I especially love the twist that Emma has ability to go back and forth in time though not always accurately. This is a fun read.

Simon is the youngest of the Alexander ‘brothers’ and probably the most lost. His gift is communicating with dead people that he calls haunts. Emma is a time traveler who Simon could see but could not touch. She seemed to be in a bubble just out of his reach, and would show up periodically for years. When she stopped visiting him, he spent a decaded researching how to find her. When he did find her, he brought her to live in his year to be educated and protected by the League. This story is about two people who instictively know they belong together, but can’t seem to put their past behind them. It is a journey of emotional anguish and turmoil, and when danger revolves around Emma, Simon must make difficult choices. Like the other books in this series, this story is creative and original, draws you in and and takes you on a wild ride.

Historical romance, time-travel and a group of friends/family who have a variety of mystical and paranormal talents. This 4th book in the series is very interesting; however I found myself at times a bit frustrated with the characters inner dialogue. Both Simon and Emma have shadows from their pasts that create obstacles to their relationship, and at times it felt like their hesitancy and emotional guards would win and this immensely well matched couple would lose their chance at love.

The last half of the book brought in some suspense and a twist to the time travel gift Emma has. There are a few scenes with The Duke and Duchess of Ashcroft (my favorites), Julian and Finn. There isn’t a much interaction with the League members as there was in prior books.

Overall, this was an enjoyable read and a great addition to the series.

I received an ARC from Hidden Gems and the author. I am voluntarily leaving a review.

As usual, this is an emotional and engaging story from Tracy Sumner. Simon and Emma are the heroes this time around, but we are still treated to interactions with Julian, Finn, and Sebastian, as well as Delaney, Piper, and Victoria. Most of Simon’s interactions are with Finn, and I enjoyed their banter. The time-travel aspect of the story is handled well and avoids confusing repercussions common to many time-travel stories. That’s probably because time-travel is not the major theme of this story, just a contributing factor.

It’s the poetic aspect of Ms. Sumner’s writing that I find particularly endearing and it’s statements like this one that remind me why she is one of my favorite authors: “His gaze immediately found Emma, looking like cream topping a fairy cake in a gown the color of sunlight and possibilities.”

The theme of this one is letting go of the past to grab hold of a promising future so it’s fitting that time-travel is featured. Simon’s basic dilemma is best summed up when the narrator observes that circumstance “Made him feel the future was bursting with hope if he could forget the past.” Isn’t that the human experience in a nutshell?

I consider myself lucky to have been chosen as Ms. Sumner’s editor. It makes work a pleasure and I look forward to everything she writes. I highly recommend this one (and all of them, if I’m being honest—and what better way is there to be?).

This book was a delight to review mainly because I have read the series right from Book 1 - The lady is Trouble. This installment brings us ten years from the last book - The Duke is Wicked. In this time, Simon Alexander has searched for a portal to find Emma - the haunt who does not talk , or is she a haunt ?
This book was riveting and emotional - the trials that Simon and Emma face while growing up - makes their bond unmatchable.

I felt that Simon was scared of his feelings given that he was unsure that Emma returned his affections - I loved the way Emma seeks to reassure Simon but he constantly rebuffs her - the "Why'' of which is revealed as the book progresses.

I liked this book far more than the last three books - Ms. Sumner's flow of words and descriptive narrative kept me spellbound.

Add to that, amazing chemistry and genuine affection among all the lead characters makes it for a great read !!

Romance Level: 4/5
Steam Level: Detailed open lovemaking scenes

I was given a free copy of this book and I decided to give it an honest review. This is the second novel in this series that I have read. I enjoyed the last one and I enjoyed this one slightly more. Both Emma and Simon have trust issues, which is understandable with their backgrounds. I thought how those trust issues were dealt with was well done. I liked Emma and her ability, that though she was from 1802, she had traveled to at least the 1920s. The fact that she was from a poor neighborhood and had to take care of herself, enabled her to make choices for herself and not be the damsel in distress in every situation as a society miss would. My only two read complaints is that I wish I could have experienced Simon's gift a bit more. We only saw one ghost; I would have like to see more of the impact the ghosts have on Simon's life. The end also seemed slightly anti-climatic. But when it comes to romances, it is the journey that is as important as the destination.

This fourth book of the series features a character we saw only briefly before. Emma’s supernatural powers are untamed and new to the league. She and Simon have a past that they must get over before they learn to forgive and love. I like this series, especially the little quirks the author gives to the characters. It gives them an added depth.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Simon Alexander couldn't let go of his sad past and the need he felt to still be a part of it. Trust was not easy for him and the hope of finding what he had lost had not abandoned him. Emma was a woman of her own, a survivor fighting the threats behind her power and yearning for what she couldn’t have. An absorbing plot with two intense protagonists, with supernatural powers, in need of control and nursing a disappointment that had lasted for too long. Interesting the time traveling issue and how it worked for them. Liked how hard Simon was struggling with his feelings and emotions not only for the hellion but his personal need to keep himself in touch with his roots and help those caught there. Strong emotions, intriguing characters, interesting twists, descriptions and narrations that kept me enthralled, romance and passion. Voluntarily reviewed this copy that I received free from Hidden Gems and I enjoyed.

So, now it’s Simon’s story and the disappearing girl from the previous book. What I enjoy most about this series is how witty and fascinating they are. I also love the continuing thread of family and love, with a side of adventure! Now I’m waiting on Humphrey ‘s story - which should be a humdinger of a tale!

I enjoyed this book. There was plenty of angst, emotion, tension and drama as the storyline unfolded. This is book four of this series and personally, I recommend that you start at book one and then read through the books in order to have the best reading experience. The concept behind this series is very fresh and intriguing and I like it. That being said, I feel that each entry falls a bit short of the bullseye and the full potential is never reached. This is my frank, freely posted review.

Simon and Emma's Story!
At long last we have Simon and Emma's story of how they finally find each other and can work towards a happily ever after. Oh the joy of this!
The story is well written, keeping me on my toes trying to anticipate what would happen next. I just love it when what ai am reading engages me to this degree.
These two characters are so very endearing and special. I kept routing for them to finally get their game together and to settle down with one another but I guess for two characters who flit from place to place in the blink of an eye, that would definitely be difficult.
Loved this story so much!
I read an Advance Reader Copy (ARC) of the book and my voluntary review is based on my own thoughts while reading it.

Tracy Sumner is one of my historical romance authors! Why??
She delivers characters that are easy to relate to
Introduces characters to readers in a way that compels us to know more
On point, crisp writing that flows
Sizzling chemistry that builds as the plot develops
Combination of mystery/suspense with romance = never a dull moment
Positive themes
Supernatural gifts

In The Hellion is Tamed, themes like forgiveness and unconditional love envelope the story between Emma and Simon. I like the way they each have their own opportunity to reflect and realize that they need to open their hearts to love...not just to each other but to others that they care about. It is truly from both their perspectives. This novel is ten years after the latest in the League of Lords series and wow, so much has changed. Reading this is not just about Emma and Simon's love story and whether they will wind up together or not... it is also a big old family reunion with some of my favorite characters from the previous novels! (3) That being said, it is fine as a stand alone. Sumner decided to up the ante in this spicy read by adding in time travel, someone rushing through time to retrieve Emma and real conversations with the ghosts that haunt Simon. Fire!!! ( ha not literally, I am just saying this book is hot fire and you want to rush to go ahead and order it so you can read it too!)

I highly recommend The Hellion is Tamed if you like suspense, steamy intimate scenes, historical romance, ghosts, time travel, people with supernatural gifts, and love!!

3.5-4 Stars! I liked this book and the other books in this series but I felt a bit lost in all of them. I still liked them though. The main characters in this book, Simon and Emma, are interesting. This is book 4 in ‘The League of Lords’ series and can be read as a standalone but I’d recommend reading them in order. Simon can see and talk with dead people and Emma can time travel, which I’d love to have either one of those powers! Other than feeling like I missed a few chapters here and there, I enjoyed this book and the previous books in the series.
