A distress call draws rescuers Sloan McPherson and the Underwater Investigation Unit to a cruise ship off the coast of Fort Lauderdale that’s sinking from a mysterious explosion. When it appears to be the work of an ecoterrorist and other ships are threatened, it becomes a race against time. More clues are discovered, and evidence is in danger of being washed away by a coming tropical storm. Sloan grows concerned that key details are being ignored, and a strange lack of urgency by authorities sets off alarms.

As the troubling questions compound, Sloan is determined to chase down every lead she has. Her persistence is getting her closer to the truth: that there’s something far more troubling at play than the official explanation. It’s also putting Sloan on a collision course with an enemy more powerful than she realizes, in a case so complex and deadly it may be impossible to prove. Now cracking the case is a matter of staying one step ahead of someone with every resource imaginable to bury Sloan and everything she knows.

Andrew Mayne brings action, suspense, and intrigue to Sea Storm , the third novel in the Underwater Investigation Unit (UIU) series. Whether you like the action to be underwater, on the water, or on land, readers will find what they are seeking. A coast guard request for assistance brings Sloan McPherson and her colleague Scott Hughes to a sinking cruise ship off the coast of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. There’s been multiple explosions, evidence may be lost due to an incoming tropical storm, and certain details are being overlooked by some of the authorities. Sloan and Hughes aren’t about to let that happen and undertake their own investigation.

Sloan has good reflexes and amazing instincts, but she takes risks and has trouble with people who ignore clues and go for the quick resolution. Hughes also has a somewhat reckless streak, but has incredible analysis capabilities as well as some skills from his military career. Both have a police background which helps since the UIU is a law enforcement agency. Together, they are a formidable pair of investigators for the little known state agency they work for. Both characters are fully drawn and unforgettable.

The memorable first chapter sets the stage for what is to come. Readers get glimpses of the investigative and rescue methods used by Sloan and Hughes, but this is just the opening salvo. As I avidly read on, the suspense, action, and intrigue was high through-out most of the novel. Was it over-the-top at times? Yes. Did I care? No. I was wholly invested in the story line.

The plot is complex and has twists and turns to keep a reader guessing. The high stakes kept me engaged throughout the story. The well-written story and the incredible characters in a unique setting, combined with action that is astonishing, culminates in an amazing conclusion.

What an adventure! Will you guess what happens? While the main case comes to an end, there are plenty of threads that could be explored in future books. Themes include mysterious explosions, jurisdictional power struggles, political pressure, corruption, family, friendship, and much more.
Overall, this was an intense story with complex characters that kept me turning the pages. There was enough background in this novel that it worked well as a standalone, but I am looking forward to reading the prior books as I wait on the next one in the series. Those who enjoy crime thrillers, diving, and action thrillers may want to check out this series.

Thomas & Mercer and Andrew Mayne provided a digital ARC of this novel via NetGalley. This is my honest review. Opinions are mine alone and are not biased in any way. Publication date is currently set for March 29, 2022. This review was originally posted at Mystery and Suspense Magazine.

It was probably four chapters before I really stopped to take a breath. It's been awhile since I had a read like that viscerally engaging, so kudos to Mayne. From that gut-clench beginning, it slows down a bit into a Hollywood version of a police procedural--I won't spoil it, but suffice to say following leads often ends in surprises that aren't just DNA related. It was definitely a book that I made of point of not reading anywhen near bedtime, because I knew my adrenaline would be up just from reading. My only complaint is that I feel like Mayne didn't quite stick the landing, although on the surface, I'm not sure why. I was satisfied emotionally, and it makes since plot-wise. It just didn't quite taste right.

What sets this series apart from the average airport thriller? I prefer mine with the type of story that doesn't drag me down into the deepest swamps of human thought and behavior (aka skip the serial-killer perspective). I love it even more when it manages to avoid being full of -ist characters--I get enough of that in real life, thank you very much, so I don't mind my fiction being a little bit sanitized with some idealism--so bonus points for a female lead. Because the unit is part of an underwater investigation team, there's ample opportunities for water-related shenanigans, which resonates with my own interest areas. Honestly, couldn't be happier. I'm glad I can go back to read book 1 while I wait for Mayne to come out with book 4, Sea Castle, in February.

I’ve been a fan of the two earlier books I’m this series. And this book continues that trend. It’s a fun, entertaining thriller set in the waterways of Miami. Sloan McPherson is a member of the Underwater Investigative Unit. This time, her team is called to a cruise ship that is quickly sinking. Turns out, it was a series of explosions that caused its demise.
The book romps along at a fast pace. There are lots of twists to keep the reader engaged. Sloan tends to go her own way and this time is no exception. She pursues leads that the FBI deems immaterial. Needless to say, they land her in hot water. But she’s not the only great character. Her boss, George Solar, is the kind of boss we all want. He totally has her back.
The book is written so it’s not long before the mastermind is revealed. The question is more, how will they bring him down.
I have to applaud Maynes for giving us enough detail to make most scenes totally believable. He’s done his research and it shows.
The book can easily be read as a stand alone. But the series is fun enough, why would you want to?
I recommend this for everyone looking for an action packed thriller with interesting characters.
My thanks to Netgalley and Thomas & Mercer for an advance copy of this book.

3.5 ☆

A massive cruise ship, The Sea of Dreams, is attacked by three explosive blasts off of the Florida coast. About 4,000 passengers and crew need to be evacuated as the ship tilts dangerously to one side. On hand to provide assistance is the Underwater Investigation Unit (UIU), a Florida state agency consisting of only 3 personnel. Sloan McPherson and Scott Hughes rescue several crew members trapped in flooded cabins.
... other agencies have been asking [UIU head George] Solar for the secret to our success. When he tells them the secret's to have fewer bosses, fewer meetings, and to trust your people, they don't seem pleased.
Privately, he's made Hughes and me aware of his actual success theory: dumb luck and two hard-headed investigators taking too many chances.

The FBI lead the investigation and coordinate a variety of law enforcement agencies. Feeling somewhat sidelined by the feds, the UIU pursue their own independent lines of inquiry. Solar came from a long stint in the DEA - the federal Drug Enforcement Agency - while both McPherson and Hughes have local police experience. The story is narrated by McPherson, an impulsive risk-taker who grew up in a family serious about diving and creating mayhem.
I don't tell Solar that I have a very poor idea of what crazy looks like until after I've done it.

Within days of forging their own investigative path, the UIU stumble across more explosives, gunfire, and corpses as they pursue the elusive mastermind. Solar had hired Hughes with the intent of curbing McPherson's impulsive nature but with mixed results.
"There has to be a smarter way," says Solar. "I thought adding you to the team... would temper McPherson a bit. Instead, it's like you two are multipliers."

As this is my first novel by Mayne, Sea Storm can be read as a standalone. I love the premise that these are detectives who have specialized diving skills - very niche. And I like McPherson and her motley family. Solar seems very savvy; he pulled a trick that was funny the first time though less plausible the second time around. The blurb indicated that they'd uncover a conspiracy, and the author brought in characters from his two other series to introduce the conspiracy aspect. But this component of the plot feels flimsy. And it did not fully explain the explosions on the cruise ship, which I otherwise thought was an exciting way to open the book (and half the reason why I had picked up this novel). Overall, Sea Storm is an entertaining police procedural with a spin but its plot needed additional development.

Thank you to the author, Thomas and Mercer, and Netgalley for providing me with a digital ARC. My review reflects my candid assessment and feelings. Quotations in this review are from an uncorrected proof (ISBN 13-9781542032230) and may differ from the final version. Publication date is March 29, 2022.

This is the third book featuring Sloan McPherson and the Underwater Investigation Unit (UIU). The unit is called, along with other agencies, to a stricken cruise ship off the Florida coast. Passengers are being ushered into lifeboats but as Sloan and her partner, Scott Hughes, search the ship they learn there are some crew members trapped behind a door where the deck has buckled preventing it from opening. Scott, former navy seal as well former cop just happens to have a small block of C4 explosive which he uses to blow the door open and the crew is rescued.

During their scouting on the ship they note that the damage doesn’t make sense. It looks like it was meant to deliberately disable the ship rather than sink it - which would tend to rule out terrorism. Could it be ecoterrorism? The only communication is a veiled threat to another vessel operating out of New York. The next day FBI divers scout around under the ship for evidence but Sloan has a different idea of where to search as she knows these waters very well. So she goes out at night with Run (her baby daddy) and teenage daughter Jackie. A storm is coming which could change the pattern of the sand and cover up evidence. They find what looks like broken pieces of a drone.

On another visit to the stricken vessel Sloan and Hughes notice a square section of a bulkhead had been been cut away. There is a vacant space but no evidence of what could have been hidden there. Drugs perhaps? Who knows?

Inquiries and guesswork lead them to suspect a well known eco terrorist, Maxim Schrulcraft but when they finally locate his boat and Sloan drops in through a window, she only narrowly avoids being blown up. The whole boat is rigged with explosives. The FBI is keen to close the case saying their bomber is dead.

But now the UIU is obsessed with the hidden compartment in the bulkhead. As they get closer to the truth they get more and more obstacles thrown in their path. Somebody with lots of influence wants to shut them down. But Sloan is not the sort of person who lets herself be shutdown. It’s a good story with an exciting ending but it just didn’t feel as good as the earlier books, possibly because there was much less on/under water action. Many thanks to Netgalley and Thomas & Mercer for the much appreciated arc which I reviewed voluntarily and honestly.

This is our third meeting with Sloan McPherson and Underwater Investigation Unit, but you can easily read this book even if you haven't read any of the previous ones.

This is a very good story. As always in this author's stories the situation is much more complicated than it initially seems. I liked the antagonists' motives; they were not obvious. There is always a lot of modern technology in Andrew Mayne books. Likewise, criminals' motives and methods of operation are very contemporary. As it was this time and I really enjoyed it.

Andrew Mayne's books are always very fast-paced, there is always something going on. This series is no exception. Yet I felt that this book is slightly slower than I am used to with this author. Especially the first half did not seem as filled with action and twists as I expected. In the second half the pace of this story was much closer to what I expected.

It's interesting how the worlds of the Andrew Mayne series begin to intertwine. First, the paths of Theo Cray and Jessica Blackwood came together in one book that marks the beginning of a new series. And now they both appear in this book. I like all of these characters, so it's cool, but I wasn't expecting it. I am curious if the characters from this series will appear in one of the books from the series about Theo Cray and Jessica Blackwood. I have a feeling they will.

If you've read previous books and are waiting for a breakthrough in Sloan's private life, you won't find it here. It wasn't something I was waiting for, so I had no problem with it. There is generally a bit less of McPherson’s family in this book than in the previous ones.

Overall, it was great entertainment as always. I definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a water-themed crime story, even if they haven't read the previous books in this series.

Thanks to NetGalley and Thomas & Mercer for providing me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

First and foremost, a large thank you to NetGalley, Andrew Mayne, and Thomas & Mercer for providing me with a copy of this publication, which allows me to provide you with an unbiased review.

Andrew Mayne is back with another exciting story in the Underwater Investigation Unit series, showing how versatile his writing can be. Down in Florida, there are many parts to law enforcement, as Sloan McPherson knows well. Working as part of a dive team, McPherson and her partner answer a call when a cruise ship finds itself in trouble. What looks like a targeted crime soon becomes a highly volatile situation and Sloan McPherson refuses to let up until she has all the answers, even if it costs her everything.

When a distress call fills the airwaves, McPherson and her partner head towards a cruise ship off the coast of Fort Lauderdale. The ship appears to be sinking and there’s are thousands aboard. McPherson will have to act quickly to help them before things take a disastrous turn. She can see the panic in the eyes of many and this does not appear to be a simple malfunction, as smoke envelops the ship.

After examining the ship during an initial dive, it appears as though this was the act of an ecoterrorist, set to make a point. While Sloan uncovers more than could be of use to the investigators, she worries that an approaching storm could nullify all the evidence, thereby making any arrests impossible. What’s even more baffling is that no one appears to care much, leaving Sloan to worry that this is not a priority to anyone. If anything, many seem to be considering it as yet another protest move.

While she appears to be alone in this, Sloan pushes forward and discovers some new truths, things that could put the explosion into perspective and place a target on her back. Never one to back down, the investigation leads to the West Coast, where other things of a nefarious nature have been taking place. Sloan finds herself coming face to face with those in charge and her diligence must be stopped before all is revealed. With everything to lose and a determination to find the truth, Sloan McPherson forges onwards, not realising that she may have met her match. Mayne does well with this instalment, keeping the reader hooked until the final chapter with tension and intrigue.

Beginning this series when it came out was my introduction to Andrew Mayne and his writing. It was only later that others encouraged me to try some of his other novels, permitting me to see just how talented he was and the complexity to his stories. Mayne takes a unique approach to law enforcement with this piece, exploring the underwater domain as a place where crime is just as prevalent. Using a strong set of characters, he is able to keep the reader interested and also pushes something many within the genre have yet to attempt.

Sloan McPherson is back with a great deal to prove. She has an interesting backstory and great development in this piece, something series fans will surely appreciate. Her determination is second to none and she tries to find that balance between work and home life, though it is usually marred with a push to get answers as a member of law enforcement. Using her diving and scuba background, Sloan stands out as a character in the piece, pushing boundaries in order to get answers she needs. I am eager to see what Mayne has in store for her, as the series progresses.

The greatest ability of an author is to provide continuity to their stories and characters, something that Andrew Mayne has done repeatedly. He knows what he wants and weaves it into the narrative to get there. Strong momentum pushes the story along and keeps the reader from losing their way, while characters entertain and provide guidance throughout. A strong plot allows the reader to see where things are going, propelled by short chapters that tease them to try just a little more. While I won’t spoil it, Mayne has done some great crossover work in this piece, keeping his fans of all series entertained with a few small surprises. This unique series has kept me curious from the start and this is yet another reason why Andrew Mayne remains on the top of my list of authors to follow.

Kudos, Mr. Mayne, for taking the plunge and continuing this series. I can only hope there is more to come for this and your other powerful series.

The third book in the Underwater Investigation Unit series opens with Sloan McPherson and her partner, Scott Hughes, responding to a distress call from a cruise ship off the Fort Lauderdale coast. It is all hands on deck. I thought I had read both previous books but found out that I had missed the second book, Black Coral. That did not stop me from enjoying this thriller.

As Sloan and Hughes near the stricken ship they can quickly see that this was no accident. Smoke is pouring from multiple locations on the ship including the bridge. There are clear indications of explosions. Right now though their priority is the passengers and the crew. They will be back to investigate further but they will have to deal with a tropical storm headed their way. At first it appears to be the work of an ecoterrorist but is it? That is the official explanation but Sloan isn't sure and she continues to investigate. This puts her on a collision course with a powerful enemy. Powerful enough to not only remove Sloan but the entire Underwater Investigation Unit and everyone she cares about.

Sloan McPherson is tough and fearless. She often finds herself in situations where she acts first without any backup or waiting. Much to the exasparation of her boss, George Solar, as well as her partner. But that is part of what makes the character fun. The book stretches believability at times (such as when they were on the stricken cruise ship and Hughes just happened to have some C4 with him). I can see this being a made for TV movie. Having said that I enjoyed the book and am looking forward to reading Black Coral. I am also looking forward to reading Sea Castle when it is released. The series is called Underwater Investigation Unit but will the unit still exist?

"From Key West to Alligator Bend, Florida has its share of communities of people seeking to escape society at large. Sometimes it's for philosophical reasons, and sometimes it's to engage in criminal activity. Often one leads to the other."

3.5 rounded down.

Sloan McPherson is back in another voyage of the Underwater Investigation Unit, this time jumping right into the action as McPherson and her partner, Hughes, rush to help out with a capsizing cruise-liner. There's more to the case than first meets the eye, and soon McPherson, Hughes, and Solar are tangled up in another web of conspiracies involving multiple government agencies and international crime.

I had a good time getting back into this series. I quite liked the first book, loved the second and I've landed somewhere in-between on this one. This is closer to the first book in the scope of the crime being investigated (i.e. it's a big-un) and as with the first book I do wish it had been a bit more grounded, as that's what I prefer in crime thrillers. That being said, the plot is entertaining and I do still really like the core characters here, we also got some great chapters of Sloan with her family which was one of my favorite elements from the previous books.

Really my biggest issue with this one was just that it felt a bit front-heavy on excitement, most of the big set-pieces are in the first half of the book, and the major twist is around the 60% mark. I also felt like the ending kind of fizzled a little bit. Not enough to spoil the book or anything, but enough that I felt a little underwhelmed. There were also a couple of plot threads which I felt weren't adequately wrapped up.

Nonetheless, I had fun with it and would recommend picking it up if you enjoyed the previous book. I'm certainly looking forward to reading the next installment.

Many thanks to Thomas & Mercer, as well as to NetGalley, for the opportunity to read and review an early copy of Sea Storm!

Sloan McPherson and the other members of the Underwater Investigation Unit are called to a cruise ship off the coast of Fort Lauderdale that’s sinking from a mysterious explosion. It appears to be the work of an ecoterrorist and when another cruise ship is threatened, it becomes a race against time.

The Underwater Investigation Unit (UIU) is made up of three people: Sloan, who is a feisty, fly-by-the-seat-of-her-pants kind of woman, Hughes, her diving partner/voice of reason, and Solar, who heads up the unit. All three are strong and likable characters. This is definitely a fast-paced, unique, and intriguing book, with moments of wry humor thrown in. Oh! And Sloan's tween daughter, Jackie, immediately won my heart!!

I very much liked this book and feel it can be read as a stand-alone. Bottom line: I consider Sea Storm to be a winning mystery thriller!

My thanks to Thomas and Mercer, Andrew Mayne and Netgalley. I mostly adore these books. Underwater investigative unit. UIU. Love these three some! This book? Maybe not so much. It was less underwater and more "other." . I'm never happy when it comes down to money, secret service government stuff. So, I'm giving this book a hard pass. It was fine, but it missed the mark as far as I'm concerned.

Sea Storm is the third book in the Underwater Investigation Unit mystery series. In this installment, the Underwater Investigation Unit is called in when a cruise ship starts sinking after a mysterious explosion.

With an “underwater” unit, there are plenty of water related crimes to keep the team busy. The characters are likable, and this book furthers the development of these memorable characters. While Sea Storm can be read as a standalone novel, I recommend starting with the first book in the series.

Sea Storm is an exciting and intriguing mystery. Recommended for readers who enjoy a good police procedural with a twist.

Very likeable characters that really suck you into the story. I found it hard to put down my kindle as I was desperate to know how each chapter would unfold. I found myself becoming Sloan McPherson, caught up in her world of diving, crime and corruption. Just brilliant!!

Exciting action in the third installment of this adventure thriller series.

The Florida Underwater Investigative Unit is called to the scene when a cruise ship is rocked by a series of well-placed explosions and begins to list and sink close to the harbor. As the rescue team looks for any remaining crew or passengers while the lifeboats head to shore, they discover that the damage is intentional and points to perhaps being caused by some sort of ecoterrorist. An intense investigation involves the team working in conjunction with various governmental agencies, but clues and leads begin to hint that there is much more at play here than an attempt to protest environmental issues. The small unit, consisting of Sloan McPherson, Scott Hughes, and boss George Solar, are convinced that they are facing off with a well-connected and powerful enemy involved in a huge conspiracy.

This was so much fun to read with a fast pace and tons of action involving incredible feats of bravery, endurance, and skills as the team races on land and sea to solve the case. I enjoy the partnership between McPherson and Hughes who seem to manage in all types of dangerous situations. They have some incredible abilities and good instincts as they face all sorts of bad guys. I also like how the author shows glimpses into their private lives with McPherson's family -- who are definitely unusual. I've read only one other in this series, but I admit I can't wait for #4. If you are looking for something different in the crime fiction genre, this series fits the bill.

Thank you to NetGalley and Thomas & Mercer for this e-book ARC to read, review, and recommend.

Andrew Mayne is one of the most intelligent authors that I read on a recurring basis and one my favorite authors at that. He has three ongoing series, Dr. Theo Crane. Jessica Blackwood and the Underwater Investigation series and, there is a cross-over book with Crane and Blackwood that is amazing. Sea Storm is part of the Underwater Investigation series and, naturally, revolves around crimes underwater, specifically in and around the Keys in Florida.

I thoroughly enjoyed the first two books in this series but I'm now finding my interests waning. I'm much less enamored with the state of Florida in general, I've never been a big fan of the Florida coast so it's a stretch to make myself enjoy book after book where this is the setting. You will note that this is a personal preference that would affect only me and others with similar feelings toward the state of Florida right now. So, as much as I love Mayne's writing, I'm going to have to pass on this series and concentrate on his others which I find far more intriguing.

This is the third in the UIU series and the second one I have read.(I have yet to read the first in the series). I really enjoyed the second book and I enjoyed this one too, albeit not as much.

This time we have Sloan McPherson called to a cruise ship that is sinking off the coast of Florida. Explosions on board make it look like a terrorist attack but as Sloan digs deeper she finds herself embroiled in a corruption plot that goes to very dark and high places.

This one was a fun and entertaining read. Again we have Sloan doing things her way and going against protocol as she tries to discover the secrets of the attack on the cruise ship.
It starts off at a blistering pace and while it does move along quickly with plenty of twists and indeed action, I felt the book never reached the intensity of those first few chapters. The set up I felt promised more than it ultimately delivered. Towards the end the book kind of peters out rather than coming to a climax.

Having said that I did enjoy it overall. A little underwhelming but a fun read none the less.

Thanks to the publisher for the ARC through Netgalley.

There's never a dull moment or chapter in any of the books I've read from this author and I've only gotten started. Sea Storm is a great book and follows Sloan through yet another exhilarating adventure. The plot & characters were both fantastic. The plot follows the Underwater Investigation Units investigation in what seems like a bio-terrorism attack. I thought I had it figured out but I was so wrong! There are twists both small and big and every one of rhem made me stop to catch my breath. At this point I'm highly invested in Sloan's story and cant wait for the next book in this series!

Thank you NetGalley, Thomas and Mercer & Andrew Mayne for an arc!

I love this series, the characters are all unique and quirky and really add to the story.

Sloan is a great kick ass character, and it was great to see her daughter following in her footsteps.

As much as I loved this book , I would have liked more underwater action in this book.
I'm looking forward to the next instalment in this series.

Makes me wonder if I ever want to go on a cruise ship

Sloan McPherson and the other members of the Underwater Investigation Unit are called in to aid rescue efforts after a cruise ship with 4,000+ people is bombed off the shores of Ft. Lauderdale and is slowly sinking.

They then help with investigating the terrible crime, running into a powerful foe with unscrupulous reasons behind the bombing.

This was the third book in this series that I read and I enjoyed it thoroughly. I recommend it if you like fast-paced action thrillers.

I received this book from Thomas & Mercer through Net Galley in the hopes that I would read it and leave an unbiased review.

4.5 - Mystery/Thriller

I admit that Andrew Mayne has become a new go-to author for me. I find his books smart, fast paced with strong, unique and deeply flawed characters. A winning combination for this reader.

Sea Storm is the 3rd in the Underwater Investigation Unit series. It can be read as a standalone, but starting the series from the beginning is highly recommended. This was my least favorite of the three, but still packed an incredible punch. Sloan and her team receive a call to assist with a cruise ship disaster. It appears, at first, that the ship ran into something and is sinking. On closer inspection, they see that the ship shows evidence of several explosions. Sloan's internal spidey senses are telling her this isn't what it seems. She is usually right, but those instincts tend to land her in dangerous situations. They do so here in a way that wasn't quite as successful. That was one of the few parts of the novel that clanged a bit for me.

Sloan's investigation unit works underwater often, which really adds another layer. Sloan comes from a family of pirates and so her joining the police force creates internal tension for her character. Her boss and her partner round out the team with unique traits of their own. This novel was so heavily focused on the action that Mayne missed an opportunity to have us grow with these characters. Some of the humanity was missing for me. The reason for the crimes is a bit more esoteric and there were times that I really had to stop and process what was happening. All in all, these are small nit picky flaws. Mayne crafts his stories with fascinating realities or probably realities, so that I feel informed as well as entertained after reading his books.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for my ARC of this novel.

So far, this must be considered the most elaborate book in the series. Very twisty and turny.
Impressive levels of "Oh shit!" going on, in a way I enjoyed quite a lot.

If this book were a movie, it would be the type of action flick where I stuff my face with popcorn and cola while grinning like an amused fool.
The action and hunt for the bad guy is what you come for and as long as you get it - you're perfectly happy.

Jessica Blackwood guest stars briefly in a scene I probably would have appreciated more if I'd also read/listened to the Theo Cray books. (Cray also appears briefly in the same scene.)
I will have to find those books sooner or later.

LITERALLY 10/10. SO FUN. not great to read 3 weeks before my cruise vacation, but nonetheless how epic is this writing!! Hooked the whole time. Sometimes I wish he elaborated more in the end, but thankfully this one had an epilogue.

I can't believe there's only two more 🥲

He has done it again. All three books in this series are hard to put down. The way the characters are developed makes me want to know more and more. I will be downloading all of the rest of his books later today. This book is well worth the read. Hope there are many more in this series.

I love these characters and the messes they get into. The writing is topnotch, fun and thrilling. Could any of this happen? Who cares. Reality is not why you read a book (despite what some of the reviews say). Sit back and enjoy a great read. Looking forward to the next book!

This series just keeps getting better and better. The action starts immediately and it doesn't stop. Mayne is easily becoming one of my "have to " authors, as in I have to read his first on my TBR pile.
