“Haven’t I commanded you: be strong and courageous? Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lᴏʀᴅ your God is with you wherever you go.” —Joshua 1:9
From famous battles and miraculous river crossings to detailed distribution of land among the tribes, the book of Joshua follows the people of Israel as they arrive in the long-awaited land promised to their ancestors. As they took possession of Canaan, God continually reminded them of His faithfulness in their past, their present, and their future. Over four weeks, we’ll explore what God’s allegiance to both His promises and His people meant for Israel and what it means for us. The book of Joshua will remind us to reflect on God’s goodness and celebrate His faithfulness, because He is with us wherever we go.
She Reads Truth is a worldwide community of women who read God's Word together every day. Founded in 2012, She Reads Truth invites women of all ages to engage Scripture through curated daily reading plans, as well as online conversation led by a vibrant community of contributing writers. This community of “Women in the Word of God every day” represents a long list of cities and countries, a variety of backgrounds and traditions, and countless real-life stories. But there is a commonality that binds us: we believe God's Word is Truth. So we read. Every day we read a new passage together—working our way through books of the Bible, topics that matter, and seasons of the Church calendar. We engage with God's Word and with each other. And we keep coming back, on the hard days and the good days, because God and His Word never change, regardless of our circumstances.
If you struggle with the Old Testament, this study gives great insight into what it was like back then and gave me an entirely new outlook. I appreciate Joshua more after going through it in depth. If you view Joshua as just conquering and wars, it is more than that! God reveals himself in a lot of ways in this book. I highly recommend starting with this study if Old Testament is unsettling to you as a believer!
I found 'She Reads Truth' Bible Study book while trying to look for something to help with Studying the Bible. I started with this set for Lent.
Usually, I when I read the bible its extract like when you are at Church but this is the first time I have read a whole book from the bible. I liked the fact that the whole book is there you don't have to grab your bible and try to find the chapter, its all there including the other accompanying extracts they give you. I also like the way they take about the author at the start so you have a bit of background knowledge. With this set there was separate devotional which I really liked to read after reading the section for the day.
I can't wait to continue with Mark and finishing yet another book in the bible. Also worth noting that there is He Reads Truth as well just incase men feel left out.
Also I loved the quality of the bible study book the paper is thick and I love the way each one seems to but unique in its presentation.
The only negative I have about this is that when I used a Sharpe to mark a passage, thinking that because of the thickness of the paper it would be fine, it did bleed through - worth noting just incase your thinking of doing the same.
The book of Joshua is repeatedly calling God’s people to remember. Over and over God’s people stopped and remembered all that God was doing and his covenant with them.
