“Pain. Fear. Anger. Power. It’s the path you have chosen, time and time again. But somehow need to choose again. Time and time again. If you walk with me, you will never escape this terrible pain. But only in this way… can you share my power.”

This was quite the way to end with this story arc. Way more interesting than what I was expecting.

The combination of Vader and Palpatine dueling their wits together and both being utterly badass is something I definitely need more of and will never get tired of. I mean, I knew Vader was cool but actually seeing him use his potential is beyond cool.

Not only did this issue had great action and human interactions but it also opened a bit more mystery for the future and makes me wonder about other things that we've seen. Connecting, apparently, things together in a rather creepy way, which suits this comic just fine.

I really hope this isn't the end of this particular comic series because I'm having way too much fun with it and I'm not ready to let it go.

“There. You sense it, don’t you? You talk about fear. But even now, you forget where it all begins… with pain.”

Oooh, this is exciting!

This particular avenue of thought never occurred to me but now I'm fairly obsessed with it and need to see what direction it all takes. It's bound to be fun, at the very least.

If it all continues having the same level of deep thoughts and philosophizing about fate and all that I will certainly have a blast since that has been my favorite part of this whole comic. And, well, seeing Vader in action is never a bad thing.

Nice attempt at a tie-in with Exegol to try to make it more clear. You can tell they're trying to make episode IX make sense (which it doesn't, really). Honestly, the knife attack is what made it a 5 star for me.

Also, what an amazing entrance! Am I right?

Vader finally reaches Exegol and confronts his master in a battle that is, quite simply, epic. It involves giant Lovecraftian horrors and hordes of Sith acolytes and, yes please, this is what I want from visits to Exegol.

We also get to see that Palpatine is already working on Snoke and the Sith fleet, and that he has someone's severed hand in a jar. Oh, I wonder who that could possibly belong to... I suspect that this is simply an Easter egg and that nothing will come of Palpatine apparently having Luke's hand...but you never know. Still, it's not like Star Wars fans to wildly speculate over the meaning of one tiny detail...

The art is superb and the writing is top notch. I've really enjoyed this deep dive into the nature of Vader and Palpatine's twisted relationship. What we're seeing is that Vader's betrayal at the end of RotJ didn't come out of nowhere, but whereas his tendency towards betraying his master previously came from a place of rage and hatred, in RotJ it comes from a place of love...from the Light Side, and that's why he succeeds that time. I think.

This series so far has beautifully woven together aspects of all three trilogies, which is no mean feat.

It's a shame that our visit to Exegol is being cut short by the impending War of the Bounty Hunters, but hopefully that will prove just as rewarding.

The story in this series makes less sense as it goes on and the attempt to try and tie it into the sequel trilogy just undermines the plot of this and the films. The writing is just terrible really, there are just so many plot holes and things that don’t make sense, it’s a shame as this series was pretty good at one point.

"There. You sense it, don’t you? You talk about fear. But even now you forget where it all begins… with pain.”

This second arc of Pak's Vader comic is strange because it feels like every other issue is brilliant, while the others are merely okay or good. This issue was one of those okay issues. I liked seeing Exegol (it's a very cool and creepy location), I liked the connections to the Rise of Skywalker that Pak included (hints to Snoke and the Sith Fleet) and I think the art was superb, but otherwise it was just an okay issue. I hope this isn't the last we see of Exegol in this series cause I think there's so much more to explore there, and I hope the ending we see to Vader's most recent character crisis isn't the actual end, cause it felt a bit too simple.

One thing though that I really liked about this issue was this quote by Palpatine: ”It’s the path you have chosen, time and time again. But somehow need to choose time and time again". The Dark Side hasn't been an easy, simple path for Vader and I like seeing it acknowledged and explored: Vader has been challenged and questioned throughout his evil journey, and he has had to make that decision to stay on this path so many times. He hasn't chosen it just once, but multiple times. The fact that Palpatine knows this makes you understand why in so many stories set between episodes 3 and 6, Palpatine is testing Vader's loyalty. I really liked this little moment.

What can I say? I love Darth Vader. I love pretty much any content that comes out about him, and this is no exception. I do find it's a little bit clumsy in trying to tie in with the sequels (which I really don't care for, which may be why I'm not liking that part so much), but other than that I love this comic series. I love the way they portray Vader, the way it actually mentions Padmé, and the way we see his struggles. The illustrations, as always, are stunning, and I cannot wait for the next issue. Bring me more Vader angst and I'll be happy!

There was just so much in this issue, I had to go back and reread it.

"To serve a sith, the kyber must suffer."

In order to make the kyber crystals power the new Death Star, they had to inflict nonstop pain on the crystals.

We see Vader struggle in these comics and I love that. To know that he warred with himself to the bitter end, that he went to padmes grave, all of it proves that if someone had just killed the damned emperor in the beginning-- we might've gotten Anakin back. Scarred and damaged but Anakin. To raise his own children.

Wow.

I don’t know how they do it but each comic in this series just keeps getting better and better. I am fully enjoying it and if you’re a huge Star Wars fan like me you do not want to skip this. Trust me, read this series. You’re gonna like what you see.

More development in the complex relationship between Vader and the Emperor. Does Vader finally know his place? I think not. This issue seemed to take a while to come out. But #12 is due in a month. Love the movie-tie covers (Luke, I am Your Father).

This adds a little more context for The Rise of Skywalker, in that it shows that Sidious had the fleet of Star Destroyers ready this far back. In trying to connect to The Rise of Skywalker, this raises questions as to why Anakin doesn’t warn Luke about Exegol. So this story arc is failing at the goal of enhancing the film. We also see a hand in a jar, which is confusing because I'm not sure if it's supposed to be a Luuke Skywalker connection or something else. I found the ending anticlimactic, but there's only one direction it can go in the end anyway.

Always good to get more from Vader, this main plot of the series seem to be turning in circle a bit, but we still get more depth from Vader past, some good action and great art and this is more than enough for me to do a entertaining comic series!

This was a pretty good issue. Considering all the wild things that happen I kept thinking this was definitely jump the shark type stuff, but it somehow managed to work. Glad they pulled it together in the end.

This tried to make Ep XI decent, but that's still unsalvageable. Nice ending though, I definitely didn't expect Ochi to live, and to live knowing he fooled Darth Vader.
