When We Fell

Rate this book
"You must have noticed how desperately into you I am. I’m not that good an actor.”

Up and coming actor Blake Pless is nervous about his first starring role in the new rom-com Over It, not in the least because he’s acting opposite former child star Kim Watterson, accomplished actress and Blake’s childhood celebrity crush. It doesn’t help matters when, within ten minutes of meeting him, Kim announces that she’s never, ever going to sleep with him.

Ouch.

But as Blake and Kim get to know each other, friendship turns to attraction—and it’s not long before their whirlwind romance makes them the latest Hollywood It couple. A-list status comes with its own pressures, and Blake is afraid he’s not worthy of his fame or, more importantly, Kim.

Will their love be able to withstand the stresses of Hollywood and growing insecurities, or is Blake setting himself up for heartbreak?

When We Fell is a prequel novella. It features R-rated sexual content and swearing and contains no cheating. This is not a stand-alone, and ends in a cliffhanger. Follow Kim and Blake's story in Ex on the Beach for their swoon-worthy happily ever after.

This is the prequal to ex on the beach. I did read ex on the beach first and I was lucky enough to get be be an arc reader for when we fell. Which tells the story of when this A Lister couple met on set and their journey to being a famous couple in the limelight to getting married and having kids but unfortunately breaking up. This was a great way to find out how this couple managed to get back together with the follow up of ex on the beach as when we fell left you on a cliff hanger. There is no HEA in this book but they do get it in the end with ex on the beach two reads I would recommend reading.

When We Fell, a prequel to Ex on the Beach, explores Kim and Blake's whirlwind romance before they became A-list movie stars, Hollywood's It-Couple, and finally the tabloids' dream come true during their divorce.

This was the prequel we needed: a few cute Easter eggs from Ex on the Beach, one super steamy, fake on-set sex scene, and a closer look at Kim and Blake's endearing relationship. I recommend reading Ex on the Beach first, and then circling back to this book. It really shows you exactly the reasons for their miscommunication and really shines a light onto what undiagnosed OCD could look like.

Who doesn't love a prequel novella? I am one of those people who loves characters the longer I know them. This little story gives us all the details we need to know about how Blake and Kim from Ex on the Beach came to be. We see the origin of the M&Ms and how instantly these two fell for each other and how quickly they allowed their anxieties get the best of them. Fun little addition to the story of our two favorite actors!

Thanks to the authors for a copy of this novel. All opinions are my own.

This novella is a prequel to Ex On The Beach by the same authors. I recommend reading that first or having it immediately at hand as this ends abruptly. Perfectly fittingly, but you will want the rest of the story.

I loved the first book and wanted more of the story, so this was perfect for me. As with the original, the characters are well-drawn and believable. The story is original yet utterly plausible. It made me care even more about the protagonists. (Note to authors: More please, I care about these people now.)
I devoured this book in one sitting, a sure sign it was a well-told story. I try to leave spoilers out of my reviews, which means there is so much about this I can’t talk about; therefore, I will try to remain generic.
The story gripped me from the start. I’ll admit already knowing the characters primed the pump for that, but I think even a cold reader would find the same thing. Those beautiful moments when love is blooming were tender, sometimes funny, always very real. They put me in that place like I was young and just falling in love myself.
As the bumps and bruises of life came at them, again, it seemed very real, very plausible. Having read the original, I knew what was coming, but I was still cheering for them to overcome their struggles.
This book brought all the emotions you could want. These authors are now 2 5 Stars out of 2 books read from me. I plan on reading their catalog.

Blake was approached at a surfing competition and told he had the 'Hollywood look'. He agreed to an audition as a joke. He is now faced with having his first movie kiss and sex scene with his childhood actress crush and he is feeling beyond intimidated.

They've been Hollywood's IT couple for a year and a half when Kim throws up all over his shoes on the Red Carpet for his upcoming movie and find out they are expecting. Kim has always been a list maker, but now all she can think about is if she is doing the right thing. She becomes more neurotic as the years pass and the stress is putting a strain on their relationship and marriage.

Blake doesn't know how to make Kim happy. All he seems to be able to do is make her miserable. So when she asks if he wants a divorce he says yes. Maybe someone else can give her what she needs to make her happy. He is obviously the problem, he just has to let her go and be happy.

Regardless of how this book ends it is amazing. The characters are well rounded and the story although heartbreaking is well written. The characters are relatable and the emotion flows off the pages. I highly recommend this book and look forward to reading more of books by Megan Walker and Janci Patterson.

Kim and Blake’s origin story starts when they are cast in a romcom. She is a seasoned child star, he is a newbie in his first lead role. It’s attraction at first sight, but she makes it clear she has a don’t-even-go-there rule about co-stars.

Which she breaks just a few weeks into filming, and it’s a rollercoaster from there on. Dating, pregnant, married, baby.

But then it falls apart. Kim has always been a control freak, and having a baby makes it a hundred times worse. Nothing Blake says or does is right. Is this the end for Hollywood’s newest golden couple?

I loved this book. It’s well written, good character development, the spicy scenes enhance the story and the characters are flawed but so relatable.

Very sad ending, but there is a second chance in the next book (which is actually labelled book #1 in the series).

I am swiftly moving on to that one, as I want to know what happens next!

Blake and Kim... back to the beginning

If you have not discovered the Extra series yet then When We Fell, a post prequel is a great way to get a small introduction to the deliciously witty and entirely entertaining series. This book is the beginning of the story of Kim and Blake. Their later story is in Ex on the Beach, book 11 in the series. i loved that book and this one is fabulous as well. I really loved getting to see the start of their relationship.
This book is well written, has a great story-line and wonderfully charming characters, even if they bumble along at times. This is another winner for me.

I received a free ARC copy in exchange for my honest review. This is my opinion and was not influenced by anyone.

When We Fell by Megan Walker and Janci Paterson goes back to the beginning for Blake and Kim. As always in this series you will find characters that are well rounded and have depth. You can't help but care about these people. This is a prequel to the continuing story in Ex On The Beach. The story will break your heart so get the tissues ready. Another great story by our author duo.

PSA: Make sure you have "Ex on the Beach" ready to go...

... if you haven't read it already. While I absolutely loved seeing more of Kim and Blake - especially seeing them fall in like, lust, and love - this prequel broke my heart into tiny little pieces and squished those into a mangled pulp for good measure. There may have been ugly-crying on my part (there *totally was* ugly-crying...), and it's a good thing I already knew going in that this wouldn't be the end of "Watterpless."

I've read the whole Extra Series and would highly recommend it. This book is actually a prequel to Ex on the Beach, and I enjoyed reading the back story. I have enjoyed the whole series. I think most could be read as a stand alone, although they do mention characters from other books and it's kinda nice to check in on them and see what they are up to once you finish their story. If you are looking for a light enjoyable read, you should check these out!!!

As I´ve been reading all books in this series, this story seems to be made of bits and pieces of other books although more detailed. Even so, it´s fun to read, entertaining, and I do want to read the next book in the series to understand what happens! I love this couple with all their funny and real-life problems!

I received this book as an ARC in return for my honest opinion. Make sure you read Ex on the Beach before this book! It’s a continuation of that book. You will not be disappointed except by the fact that you have to wait for the next book in the series. Blake and Kim together make an amazing story. It’s a book that will pull at your heartstrings for sure though!

He has a crush on her.and now he is due to star next to her but she tells him that she is never going to sleep with him. He is shocked but things may just change as they get to know each other better. Will they become a couple? Can it survive fame? See if they do become a couple

I was a little reluctant to read this but as I read it I thought this was a great book.

The story line was very well done and explained the theme of the book.

The characters were good and a very good fit to the book.

This is a prequel to Ex on the beach so it would be handy to have that to read right after. Just as always with the authors, this book is witty, fun and heart wrenchingly good. They never disapoint.

Fun to read where it started for Blake and Kim. Part of this will hurt your heart a little but make sure you have Ex on the Beach ready to go so you can see how their story continues.

I really like the series...great characters and story lines.

I requested an arc and I am proving my honest opinion.
