You’ve got to know when to fold ‘em

Everyone has to start somewhere. Moreover, this is a good book for starting from scratch as we head into our quilting careers. In addition, for those who think they already know everything you may be surprised at this book can show you that one thing you thought you knew.

The book is constructed with hardcovers but a ring-binding spine. The book is divided into six lessons, each lesson is color-coded for easy access. The book goes through terminology and tools. I never noticed that you could place two straight edges next to each other making a sort of T-square.

The colors and pictures make this book almost as well as a video. The descriptions make it better.

“A quilt is quite simply three layers of cloth with which have been sandwiched together and secured by yarn ties or simple stitches”

Basics of a quilt broken down into 6 steps.
Starts with how to select and prepare fabrics and what the essential tools are.
Only critique is the binding steps seem very complicated compared to the rest. Expect to need to refer back to book or search videos when I get that far.

Have you wanted to make a quilt but didn’t know where to start? This book provides step-by-step instructions on everything you will need to know. From tools, supplies, fabrics, cutting, accurate seams, assembly and finishing, it is all found in this book.

The six-lesson format is easy to use and has enough photos so you can make sure you understand the written words. They have updated the way they attach the ends of the binding but I still like my way better as there is no opening to worry about.

Seven patterns are included so you begin your quilting journey the minute you pick up this book. A glossary of terms is found at the back of the book and even describes how to add a hanging sleeve and the all-important label.

Know someone who wants to learn or want to learn yourself? Then a copy of this book will be a welcome addition to their/your library.
