Operation Heartstrings
Jules Markham is paired with the Foundation's second in command, Blane 'Mac' MacIntyre for the first time. They are sent to Afghanistan on a recon mission, to gather information about the integrity of a man asking the Foundation for philanthropic help. Jules has never had such a difficult assignment, torn between doing her duty and dealing with her insane crush on Mac. Mac is equally divided. Romance – we encounter it everyday. It’s there, in the sweet curve of a lover’s cheek, in the awkward hug of an undemonstrative husband, in the clasped hands of the elderly couple crossing the street. And if I can infuse a little bit of it into your life – so much the better.
Who inspired me to write? Why, the indomitable Georgette Heyer of course. My first encounter with romance began with Ms. Heyer. I don’t even remember which book I began that journey with, now that I’ve read them all many, many times. If you haven’t read her Regencies, you have such a treat in store for you that I envy you.
I continue to write for the sheer joy of creating and sometimes, in the process, discovering new worlds and friends. Be it in the country seat of the saturnine Duke, or in the slightly off center world of the reluctant contemporary witch, the humdrum existence of the forty-something single mom, the fantasy realm of seers and mages, or the deadly double-life of the secret agent, you’ll find something here to tickle your fancy, to fuel your daydreams or inspire your own fantasy.
Welcome to the world that I slip into everyday despite the unrelenting tugs of life, my other career, and endless obligations. May you find respite or excitement, fantasy or laughter….whatever your heart desires.
