Margarette Grey writes contemporary romance stories featuring hot billionaires and witty heroines. She loves the thrill of reading gripping romance novels at night, kissing alpha males in her dreams, and writing about them in the morning. She makes her home in The Pearl of the Orient Seas, where ‘leisure time’ means indulging in drawings, watching anime, Korean dramas, and Netflix series.
Excellent and very moving The story is extremely intense with equally intense characters, and in particular Luke, initially hateful manipulative, lost in his own reactions and feelings, facing his half-sister by marriage, Scarlet, prisoner of her past which allows Luke to handle her too. I empathized with her from the start, hence my difficulty accepting the behavior of Luke's character. The story is quite melodramatic, with twists and turns and an intensity that is just as good in hot scenes as in more dramatic situations. The only frustrating point: the story has several parts. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book
Meeting her stepbrother for the first time on her mother's wedding day, Scarlet fell in love at first sight. Being eight years younger than him she is about to head off to Harvard. Six years later as she is preparing for graduation Luke comes back into her life, however, despite not seeing each other in person they have been communicating as their alter egos via an elite Harvard app.
Luke doesn't believe in love following the ultimate betrayal years ago. Instead, he adopts for a love 'em and leave 'em approach to dating. Never sleeping with the same woman twice. Feeling connected to Ericka (Scarlet) she is the first woman he could break his dating rules for. Discovering it is his stepsister puts a spanner in the works but doesn't stop him wanting her.
Both of their lives are not as they appear on the surface, with past traumatic events and family issues. They attempt to embark on a no-strings-attached two-month affair. With roadblock, friends and family interference and guilt means that things are far from easy for them. A cliffhanger ending which was annoying, to say the least - however, I'm not sure I want to find out what lays in store for them next.
Really enjoyed this book! It was a page Turner from the start. I loved getting to know Scarlet and Luke and the how their past made them how they are. I really can’t wait for the next one!
Awesome book by Ms. Grey. The characters are brought to life, where you feel you are right there with them. Believable situations, if you know a few Billionaires..lol.
OK. Where should i start. At first i got stuck in the book and had to put it away as i could not get into it properly. Thought " this is far too long, this (too slow) building, this guy/girl are breaking my nerves...".
But: story is well built, boy meets girl through dating app and ok, let's suppose this could be true, what a coincidence, it appears they are related. But the slow burn...got me burned at about 50% of the book and i put it aside. But i did not find myself defeated and picked up the book a few days later...as a (starting) writer, i was kind of impressed by the outline and the very unexpected end.
Give it a try. I asked voluntarily for this book and reviewed it.
