Wicked Ride

Rate this book
One wicked Romeo on a motorcycle + One curvy Juliet + A whole lot of unfinished business = One second-chance romance that will rev your engine...

I don't think about what happened in high school. Instead, I joined the Army and channeled my anger into being the best sniper I could be. It was a tough job, but the world's a better place.

Now, I'm back home in Valor, riding with my brothers and working to make this town better than we found it. All I want is to build my house, do my job, and serve my community. My heart is locked away and I see no reason to change that.

And then Maggie barges back into my life. The only girl I've ever loved. She's got sinful curves and a sweet smile that makes me want all the things I've sworn off. All the things I thought we would have, when we dated in high school. A life together. A family. Love.

It didn't work then, so it won't work now. But f* if seeing her doesn't stir a war inside of me. I question whether we can make a future when the past still hangs over us. Can we survive the forces that want to keep us apart?

There's only one way to find out...

Good book but the ending was ridiculous

Sooooo I loved the book and how in love they were and that she broke away from her horrible father but holy shit the book was left with so much unresolved topics and to get an epilogue u have to sign up for her newsletters??? Yeah won’t be reading from this author again and I’m struggling with whether or not I want to continue the rest of the series. So far the members are mentioned in each book but the women they fell for aren’t and there’s no camaraderie whatsoever. Some of the book make it seem like the characters are honorable and other make them seem like they aren’t. I’m struggling with the lack of communication on this series.

They are finally back in each other's arms, where they belong. I'm glad that Maggie has finally found her back bone, to fight for things that will make her happy, and that is the love of her life, Earl. I don't begrudge her love for her family but Earl is right: family is where you feel you belong, who will always have your back.

Taking a wild ride into adulthood

Wicked Ride by Lana Love is part of the multi-author Men of Valor MC series. This story is about Earl "Trigger" Gaines and Magnolia "Maggie" Hayes. This is a second chance with your first love story with a large side of a family that you wouldn't want to be a part of.
Maggie and Earl went to high school together and were partnered up together for a lab in Biology in their sophomore year. All it took was one look and these two were head over heels for each other. There was only one problem.....she is the Mayor's daughter and he is the son of Skull Gaines, one of the founders of the Men of Valor MC. So in order to break them apart Maggie's father and older sister sent her away to a private boarding school in New York for the rest of high school and then she stayed away for college. When she left it broke both their hearts and neither has ever recovered or moved on from it, no matter what they tell themselves. But now Maggie has come back to Valor, Wyoming after graduating with a business degree. She is still having her father support her but is working for for her Claudia at her florist shop, The Flower Pot. Earl has also returned to Valor after getting out of the Army. He is becoming a member of the Men of Valor MC, building a house himself with the help of other members and is working as a tattoo artist at Valor Ink. Earl and Maggie have not crossed paths yet but that is only a matter of time and when it happens both their worlds will be tossed around like a ship in the middle of a hurricane. But once they both come to terms with their own feelings they will cling together and be able to be stronger.

This was a deliciously charming story about a first love that never died. Maggie had to grow up sometime and when she is really forced to make a decision she finally makes a decision for herself. It is not going to be easy but with Earl there for her she will survive and thrive.

2.5/5 stars - all for Earl’s character, Maggie 0 stars.

Earl “Trigger” has just returned to Valor after his time as a sniper was up with the military. He joined when Maggie was sent away to boarding school because she was dating him at 16, he has never forgotten her and still loves her. Maggie is the youngest daughter of Valor’s mayor. She knows the cops are crooked in town, she’s not sure if her father is. Her sister and her were close as youngsters but after her mom left them, her sister started getting harsher and more critical of her. She betrayed Maggie by telling their father about Earl. She’s finished her business degree and is now back and lives in a house her dad pays for and spends money her dad gives her. She has a job at a florist shop her friend owns but her friend has to let her go because business is so slow. Maggie has never forgiven her father and her sister but she never does anything about it. She complains but continues to take his money and do what they tell her to do. When her friend tells her Earl is back she goes to spy on him at the tattoo shop he works at and later gets a job as the receptionist there. She blindsides Earl the next day, she’s all smiles and flirty while the poor guy is reeling from seeing the love of his life in his shop. They finally talk and kiss, all their feelings come rushing back. He’s all in but Maggie seems unsure of leaving the security of her father’s money. She finally does stand up for herself and for Earl and the MC. Her father tells her she has to pick between Earl/MC or her family. She picks Earl and the MC. Leaving their dinner and argument she calls Earl crying, he comes to get her and takes her to the house he is rehabbing and then the MC clubhouse. They talk some more and have sex. No condom is used and no talk of either of them being with anyone else while they were separated. The book ends here. For a hea epilogue you have to sign up for the author’s newsletter. Epilogue on their wedding day and her telling him she’s pregnant.
I liked Earl but did not like Maggie. Her whole concern was how will she live without her father’s money. She has worked since college, she could have been saving to get out from under his thumb. But she chooses to whine and complain like a spoiled child, which she says people think she is, ah that’s because you are! Earl was much more committed to her than she to him, she acted childish with his feelings. And why write repeatedly about the rift with her sister if there was no reason or resolution given. Trigger deserved a much better heroine, one who loved him.

I really loved this story about Earl "Trigger " and Magnolia aka Maggie. 🥰🥰🥰They were high school sweethearts, but a toxic family ripped them apart. Now 10 years later they finally get their second chance at a HEA. A safe, sweet, romantic, steamy and interesting story that made me swoon and mad as well(toxic family). 😍😍😍😍

Overall a good story

I am not a fan of 2nd chance romance, but this was done pretty well. I didn't realize how much time had passed because Mags seemed much younger, so when she said she was almost 30, she did seem too immature, but maybe she needed the strength Earl always gave her as he was the only one who truly believed in her. The two of them together were great. I would've liked to see her sister knocked down 50 pegs, or at least find out what changed her into such a horrible person. It was hinted at that something changed, like it was some secret we'd find out about, but nothing ever came from it. It also would've been good to see the town turn against her dad, or something?? Even without that info, the story of the 2 of them was really good. I am knocking off a star for the no ending, must sign up for her newsletter to see a hea. The story was good. There was no reason to hold the ending hostage in order to get followers?! Let your work stand on its own. It was also a huge pain and a bunch of hoops to jump through to sign up and get the end. I did read it, but I will probably unsubscribe now because of those tactics. I would've given her books another try but now am hesitant. I don't like open ended stories.

A second chance at first love.

Still loving this series.

Maggie and Earl were high school sweethearts before her father, the mayor of Valor, WY, tore them apart by sending Maggie to boarding school. Several years later, Earl is back in town after serving in the Army. Maggie is still dealing with her father trying to mold her into something she isn’t, holding the purse strings while he does so.

Maggie wants to break free. She is scared she doesn’t have what it takes to make it in her own. She hasn’t stopped loving Earl and Earl discovers it’s always been Maggie. What if Earl promises he’s ready for forever?

This story was a bit different than the others in the series as there wasn’t a particular incident the MC was forced to ”deal with” regarding bad business in Valor. Perhaps this book sets up a future confrontation with the mayor, who might not be dirty like the cops, but he certainly isn’t clean.

Very short story, the story was sweet, but didn't like the heroine obsession with the familie money. Really lame excuse, for not living her life, without being controlled and unhappy.

Wicked Ride is a story that will pull at your heart as the characters struggle between being controlled by his family or being cared by those you love. There has only been one lady for Trigger, since high school his heart has been Maggie. Maggie was the daughter of Mayor of Valor, but she was not the favorite not even thought to be anything lazy and of no use, not even her sister was on her side. Younger there was one person that could calm her, but they were torn apart, now years later could they have a second chance.

Trigger and Maggie's tale is one of past lost and pain, caring, struggles and abundance of love. After being separated for years, Trigger had only one women that held a space in his heart and when she came back he was not going to let her go again. I love the strength Maggie found at the end to stand up to his dad and go for what she really wanted to do. Trigger's confidence and belief in Maggie will warm your heart as he did what he could help her succeed.

Loved this

Maggie and Earl where always meant to be together but her father the mayor split them up by sending Maggie of to private school and Earl went into the army. Years later Earl has made his way back to Valor where the heart break happened all those years ago but not forgotten only to have Maggie turn up at Valor ink as the new receptionist.
Maggie knew it was silly getting the job at Valor her father would not be pleased but he never was with her life choices and seeing Earl brought those feelings back and after a bike ride with Earl they knew who they belonged to. During one of their meals together Maggies dad mentioned the new job and he was angry but they where out in public but this time Maggie wouldn’t back down and given the choice she chose Valor MC over her father and walks out and never looks back she has just been cut out of her fathers life but even better she keeps Earl the love of her life.

Lana Love joins the awesome multi-author Men of Valor MC series with Wicked Ride. A wonderfully-written, swoon-worthy and steamy second chance romance between the mayor's daughter, Maggie, and tattoo artist / member of the Men of Valor MC, Earl aka Trigger. In love as teenagers, Maggie's mayoral father did not approve and sent her away to boarding school to separate her from the boy from the wrong side of the tracks. Now after a stint in the army, Earl is back in town, and Maggie is desperate to finally break away from her domineering father and sister. From the moment they meet again for the first time in years, the feelings between Maggie and Earl are palpable, and watching them navigate the possibility of a newfound relationship is an entertaining, quick and sexy read.

I actually really enjoyed this short novella. It was about 60 pages of second chance romance sweetness.
The writing was actually really good. The plot was not super dramatic or problematic, but still entertaining.
The chemistry between Earl and Maggie was definitely there. The romance was there. The sex was passionate and loving.
The ending was sweet, though I think the epilogue you get if you sign up for her newsletter definitely makes the story feel more complete. I recommend signing up for that.
This is the kind of novella I’ve been hoping for when reading this series. It’s unfortunate that I’m surprised it was decent, but this MC series has really been disappointing me.
I might be looking into more of Lana’s books here soon. Hopefully they’re as good if not better than this one.

Oh, the heat is HOT, and the physical chemistry is captivating so be careful you may just get burned all the heat coming off these pages. There were some "oh no" "oh wow" " what the what" moments and add in uncanny mishaps, and shenanigans the good kind that makes you keep turning the pages till last page has been turned. Maggie and Earl were high school sweethearts, but her father felt like she could have better and to keep them apart he sent her to boarding school. Earl joined the Army, did his time and back home and all he wants to do is settle down. The attraction didn’t leave either of them even thought they were miles apart and the intense pull of attraction was so strong between the two of them, but will family still stand in the way of them being together?

Trigger and Maggie were torn apart when they were teen sweethearts and dating. She was sent away and he joins the Army to be a sniper. Now they are both back in their hometown. He joined the Men of Valor MC to help with cleaning up the town. Maggie is working at her friend's flower shop. When they met up again, they both realize their feelings have never gone away. Maggie's family is not happy she wants to be with Trigger again. There are still issues with her family. Are they able to open back up and get back together and make it work this time now that they are older? Will the things in the past keep them apart still?

I really liked this story. It was entertaining and enjoyable with the exception of Maggie's family. The characters were relatable and likable for the most part. Maggie's dad and her sister Tabitha were major jerks. I wanted them to have some kind of comeuppance. Maggie and Earl were in love when they were in high school but they were separated. Years later they are reunited but there are difficulties to overcome if they want to be together. Earl had a ton of faith in Maggie and wanted to make her dreams come true. Maggie wanted to be with Earl too but her family isn't supportive at all. I loved Earl and Maggie's happy ever after. I recommend reading this book.

Fantastic. I was so proud of Maggie. Maggie has been living with her father, who's the mayor and he belittles everything she wants to do. She is slowly losing herself by trying to conform to his specifications. Then she hears that Earl is back in town and all the feelings she had for him come back to haunt her. She ends up working at the tattoo parlor where he works and Earl finds that all the space he put between them isn't going to work because he still loves her. At the last dinner with her father and sister Maggie finally lets lose and walks out on her father and sister. She calls the one person who has never let her down, Earl. Heartwarming story with a wonderful HEA. Short but sweet. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Earl/Trigger and Maggie were high school sweethearts until her father and sister tore them apart. Maggie returned to Valour to work in her friend. Claudia’s flower shop even though her father keeps threatening her to find a real job or get married. Trigger returns to Valour after getting out of the military and is a member of the Men of Valour MC. Trigger and Maggie have never stopped loving each other and when they see each other again the chemistry is still there. This was a great read with so many emotions. Maggie wanted to be loved and listened to and the only one who ever did was Trigger. Trigger didn’t want his heart ripped to shreds for a second time but realizes that Maggie is his one true love. I received an arc copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I thought that this was a really sweet book. Maggie and Earl were great together. These two were sweethearts in high school but Maggie's father didn't want them together and shipped her off to boarding school. Earl join the Army shortly after Maggie left but now, he is home again and looking for settle down. I really enjoyed the connection and the chemistry between Earl and Maggie. Earl tries to stay away but his heart and soul won't allow him to stay again from the one woman who got away. Maggie has to choose between love and family in this book but little does she know, she chose will give her both! I really enjoyed this book and I would recommend it and Ms. Lana as a great author.

Earl (Trigger) and Maggie were secret high school sweethearts until her dad, the Mayor, found out and shipped her off to boarding school. Earl left town to join the armed services. Ten years later they have both found their way back to each other. Maggie is still under her dad's thumb and must choose her own future. This was a sweet second chance story (which is a genre I usually do not enjoy). Maggie is supposed to be nearly 30 so I felt she should have been able to stand up for herself long before now, but the story was still good. Would have liked to see her sister and dad get more of what's coming to them, but maybe that happens in another book. I read a ARC of this book from Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This one was a super cute second chance romance. It is your rich girl, wrong side of the tracks boy story. Maggie has been living under her fathers thumb since her mother left. Earl or Trigger in the MC, was in love with her when they were teenagers but her father put a stop to it by sending her away. They are both back in Valor and Maggie forces a meeting by getting a job where he works. This was a fast read for me and it was cute. I will say certain parts of the story felt slightly immature for people that are supposed to be in their 30's but if you are a fan of second chances or trying to read every story in the Men of Valor series, check this one out.

Maggie and Earl used to date in highschool... but they were torn apart by Maggie´s father. Maggie is smart and sweet... she´s tired of always following her father´s demands, but she´s too afraid to stand up for herself. Earl knows that they´re from two different worlds, and he should stay away, but their attraction is much too strong. He accepts her exactly as she is, and he gives her the strength to believe in herself. This is such a great story... heart-warming, sweet, and sexy. Great characters and great flow!

I received an ARC from the author thru Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving my review. This love story is about another couple in Men Of Valor MC series. Maggie and Trigger were young sweethearts who were broken up by her family. Now years later he is back from military service and she is back in town also. As adults the chemistry between them is still just as strong. The love has never died either. This is their sweet second chance at a future together. I enjoyed everything about their story

Wicked Ride was another awesome story in the Men of Valor MC Series. Lana Love wrote Maggie and Earl's story of forbidden love. Maggie is the daughter of the Mayor of Valor and Earl is the son of a criminal. They fell in love in high school but her father ripped them apart. Earl has returned to Valor after his time in the military and Maggie is back from college and working with her friend. Now that they are both back in Valor, could they finally get their HEA? Will Maggie be able to break away from her despicable father and obnoxious sister Tabitha?

Great storyline with colorful characters of high school sweethearts reconnecting. Enjoyed the history that brings these characters together, I liked how Earl was so forthright and able to support Maggie in her decisions and wants for her future endeavors. It was unfortunate how Mags family treated her, but the ending was a definite plus.

I love The Men of Valor books that I have read so far and even though this one is a bit of a shorter read, it's just as good.
Earl ( Trigger) is back in town and when he sees his high school flame Mags, their feelings come back hot and heavy.
I loved their story and Mags was a brave women that finally stood up for what her heart wanted.

Earl and Maggie have a past as high school sweethearts they thought the world was there oyster but it wasnt meant to be. Now Earl (Trigger) is back in Valor after serving and now serves the community as part of the MC, when Maggie comes back into his life, he had sworn his heart was closed for good but she just has a way of getting his heart beating again, but will the issues of the past ruin their second chance of happiness? this is a well written Romeo and Julliet-eqe second chance MC romance, and a great addition to the men of Valor series by multiple authors.

Magnolia and Earl have history they were high school sweethearts til her dad stepped in. She was sent away to boarding school and he fled to the army. Now both are home and the flaming spark still exists. You feel the hurt these young lovers were put through. Not being good enough for family surely hits home for many.

The MEN OF VALOR MC stories are so good and each author brings their signature storytelling to light.

Earl and Maggie's story is a 2nd chance love story. Your heart will crack, break and need their love to put it back together again.

Not a whole lot of action but more than enough romance to hold your interest. A good story with memorable characters. I received an ARC for an honest and voluntarily review.

Gotta love the Men of Valor. Earl/Trigger has returned to his hometown after separating from the army, even though he is apprehensive of running into his old girlfriend, Maggie. He is sure that she has moved on but is not sure if his heart could handle it. Maggie has always loved him and when she finds out he has returned, she takes action just so she can be close to him.
