USA Today Best-selling author Ruth Hartzler spends her days writing, walking her dog, and thinking of ways to murder somebody. That's because Ruth writes cozy mysteries and adventures. She is best known for her archaeological adventures, for which she relies upon her former career as a college professor of ancient languages and Biblical history.
This is book six of the Amish cup cake Cozy Mysteries by Ruth Hartzler. In this book Eleanor and Matilda tell Jane about their past history . When their past catches up with them they have no choice but to tell Jane everything. Someone they knew in their past is murdered at an art gallery party and now the killer is after Eleanor and Matilda. They must find out who the killer is and it was someone who was at that party where the murder took place. Jane helps her friends sleuth the murder and the closer they come to finding who the murderer is the closer to danger they put themselves into. Mr Crumbles , the attack cat leaps on a head when the killer confronts Jane. Good ole Mr Crumbles!
As always I enjoyed the humor and wit that Ruth Hartzler adds throughout her books. Eleanor and Matilda are two sisters that argue with each other constantly and Jane always has to be their referee . I think Mr Crumbles is adorable. The author added easy to follow recipes at the end of the book. The book was a quick and easy read. It was entertaining, funny and unpredictable. The cover is very eye catching and cute.
Readers of cozy mysteries and those who enjoy a fun read will enjoy this book. I recommend you read the other books in this series before reading book six. You will enjoy each book better if you read them in order.
Confections of a Partygoer is another humorous story written by Ruth Hartzler. The author has done a terrific job telling her story thru her amazing characters. This story will definitely grab your attention from the beginning and as the three ladies track down the murder they will leave you wondering what they will do next. A secret to the elderly sisters past is revealed which leaves Jane stunned. This is the sixth book in this series and will have you laughing in many parts.
I was not given a complimentary copy of this book to read and review. I was not approached to post a favorable response and all opinions are my own. I have rated this story with five stars for meeting my expectations of a wonderful story that I can highly recommend to others.
Confections of a Partygoer is Book 6 in the Amish Cupcake Cozy Mystery Series by Ruth Hartzler. I have been waiting for this book and it did not disappoint. We finally learn about the secret that Matilda and Eleanor have been keeping from Jane and boy is it a doozy! I love that the secret was revealed. I honestly love the characters of Matilda and Eleanor who are both over 80 years old and as spry as a 20 year old!
Jane's sister is invited to cater an art show with her delicious cupcakes. While there, a man drops dead. A man that may have known Matilda and Eleanor in her past. Handsome Detective Damon trips on one of the art pieces and breaks his ankle so he cannot assist in the investigation so Jane and the ladies are on their own.
I LOVED this book, every single word. I love the mystery and how nicely the romance between Jane and Damon is moving along.
Be prepared to laugh out loud, because this book is a fun, delightful mystery.
Love this funny series with the most unlikely trio of ladies and a cat! For the past 5 books we have been wondering exactly who were Jane's house mates really? Matilda and Eleanor may be sisters and over 80, but the don't act like any 80 year old I have ever heard of! At long last they reveal past secrets of their lives, a slightly redacted version, when they were faced with a murder of a former co-worker. I enjoyed the lengths the three women went through to try and solve the mystery and expose the killer. Complete with disguises, deceptive driving, and deceit, Jane manages to stay sane and keep Damon from freaking out from Matilda and Eleanor's antics.
Prepare to giggle and even laugh out loud as you enjoy the 6th book of a delightful Amish Cupcake store mystery and silly characters!
What a delightful story! I am loving this series! Jane’s sister is catering an art show with her wonderful cupcakes. During the show a man drops dead. It seems Eleanor and Matilda know him from their past. We finally know their secret! I love these quirky characters and the ideas they come up with while investigating! We don’t see much of Detective Damon in this story because he broke his ankle during the exhibit. Jane and her housemates are on their own this time. Great story! I received an advance copy of this book from the author, however I voluntarily wrote an honest review. All opinions are strictly my own.

In this installment, we finally learn of Elenor and Matilda's super secretive backgrounds. It made for an unusual story, although it was a little over the top in places.
Jane and her housemates are helping Rebecca cater a grand opening at an art gallery. When one of the patrons dies suddenly it put Elenor and Matilda on high alert as they knew him in years past, and they fear someone may be looking for them also.
This book was really fun to read. In fact the entire series of books have been delightful.. Ruth Hartzler has put together a cast of characters that continue to develop in every book. She has written in just the right blend of farfetched mysteries, murders , twists and turns to make these truely cozy mysteries. They won't keep you up at night ,but you'll want to continue reading just to find out what in the world the characters will do next.
Jane and her housemates, Matilda and Eleanor, are back in action. While serving at an art gallery gala, a fellow worker of Matilda and Eleanor is murdered. With Damon out with an injury, it’s left to the trio to find the murderer.
This is another enjoyable mystery. We finally learn Matilda and Eleanor’s secret. Fun characters and mystery.
Another fun and cute story in this series. In this book we finally get some backstory on Matilda and Eleanor, along with their past coming to the forefront for a new murder investigation. Also had to laugh at Mr. Crumbles attack words of "Face Hugger". Never want to be around Billy when he's leading the goats on a stampede.
This is a very entertaining book. It starts out in an Art Gallery where a man dies, which turns out to be a spy, who was a handler for these two spies. His cover was blown, and so the two spies must now hunt down their enemy before The Raven hunts them down. Ms. Ruth has outdone herself in this book. The plot is simply flowing, and the characters are hilarious and full of life. My favorite characters are Eleanor, Matilda and Jane. I do recommend this book for the family.
The truth finally comes out!!! Jane and her roommates are at a public art showing when a man walks up to Jane, says one word, and then dies. Who killed him? Was it the doctor who tended him right there or one of the people in black? And, how does it all tie into the sisters' past? Read this fun cozy mystery. I live this series.
As fun as ever! Jane finally learns about Eleanor and Matilda’s background. It’s a doozy, but makes total sense. These are definitely not old ladies to mess with! And Mr. Crumbles saves the day! Yay! I LOVE THAT CAT!
Laugh out loud, fun cozy mystery. Jane, Matilda, & Eleanor find themselves in the middle of another big mess. This time it is personal for the sisters. Well written story with a lot of crazy characters. The end will leave you in stitches. I look forward to the next book.
