I'll start by saying that this review might be a little biased: I'm a huge fan of the author (and married to her), and I have a book later in the series.
In this volume Cassidy faces the challenges that many people face when meeting a new culture: reconciling their own bias and viewpoints with those of a new group. But, Cassidy has the additional issues of trying to do the job she was given while maintaining her personal and professional ethics.
The author examines the dilemma through a screen of action sequences that keep the reader turning pages.
This episode of Slipstreamers dealt with some intriguing topics, and the author navigates them expertly. I loved the setting, crafted from actual locations in New Brunswick. I also enjoyed how the author tackled the theme of how war can drive technological advances, but also harm the environment in exchange for victory. But who really wins in a war?
