EverGreen is a wonderfully paced, perfectly crafted young-adult fantasy/romance debut from the very talented and very young Abby Farnsworth. Based on this strong first effort, Farnsworth is sure to have a great career ahead of her. The story involves brainy high-school bibliophile Lily Rhodes who has long been enchanted by the idealized romances between the covers of books. When she meets the handsome and enigmatic Rowan Marx in her gym class, she soon starts to realize that the kinds of love stories she’s only read about in books can exist in the real world. At first that relationship creates tensions with her long-time platonic friend, Jack, but tensions that will eventually build up to several explosive revelations about some of the most important people in Lily’s life and her very own place in the world.

Among the great things about this book is the very assured pacing and flawless mixture of all the realistic details of teen first love – the excitement, the anxieties, the realization of what it feels like to be experiencing a connection with someone that is unlike anything we have ever felt before – as well as the fantastic aspects of a world in which faeries and magical powers coexist with the real human world. There have been quite a number of young adult books that mix romance, family dramas and secrets, and love triangles with elements of science fiction and fantasy, but there are few that meld these elements quite as skillfully as EverGreen. As we get to know Lily and her joys and tribulations of sorting out her feelings for Rowan and Jack, we feel like we are reading about a well-developed, three dimensional human being and not a generic heroine of dozens of similar entries into this genre. Lily seems to live and breathe from the pages of the book. It feels like this story is coming from a very sincere, real place and not out of a word processor. But then we also find out that Lily’s world is one in which faeries and magic exist as well, and this revelation is presented with that same naturalistic, approachable writing style. This book does a fantastic job of making the reader believe in the world of the fantastic that surrounds Lily just as it makes us see our heroine as a realistic, three-dimensional human being.

It should also be noted that EverGreen presents its mythology, its world building, very thoroughly, but that world building never overwhelms the human story. Where a lot of fantasies, even young adult fantasies, can go overboard with their dense alternate worlds, overloaded with details and internal rules, EverGreen once again balances all the disparate elements with expert skill.

Ultimately, the further Lily enters into the world of the faeries, she finds herself on a journey that will involve not just love and wonder and enchantment, but dangers posed by darker elements within this alternate world. As Lily, Rowan, and Jack’s story heads toward its conclusion, a couple of major plot twists will pull the rug out from under readers who think they can predict where the story is going.

This is a highly enjoyable read that flawlessly mixes the angsts and joys of teen romance, supernatural mystery and action, and finally leads to a conclusion that promises more stories to come. I am definitely looking forward to reading them all!

Have you ever read a book and wished that you could escape into the pages and experience the adventures you are reading about? This is what Lily Rhodes wants to do, and the universe has a way of making things happen.

Lilly is an introverted smart, brainy girl that always has a book in her hand. She is also fearless, kind-hearted, and cares deeply for those that earn her trust and friendship. When Lily falls in love for the first time in her life her senior year, this love adventure takes her into the realm of magic. Although faced with adversities and dilemmas between friendship and love, Lily never losses her kindness towards the people she cares about the most.

EverGreen, by author Abby Farnsworth, is a well-paced young adult novel with enchanting world-building and a good combination of real-world and fantasy elements. The author expertly establishes characters that set good examples for young adult readers of genuine friendship and true love, especially from optimistically outgoing Giselle and Ginger. These two may be the most incredible friends you will ever meet. Readers will also learn to sympathize and develop a degree of understanding towards people like Delilah. Rowan’s character may be too ideal, but his role will make readers fall in love with his chivalry and mature personality.

The author creates a plot that moves the story along quickly, keeping readers engaged. The language is suitable for older elementary and middle school students and even young adults who are looking for a quick and light read. Readers will learn a lot from the characters as they navigate the challenges and obstacles the author puts forth.

EverGreen is a riveting novel filled with action and adventure, taking place in the real world and slowly drifting into the paranormal fantasy world. While discovering the world of the fae, friendships and romance are built that will extend into the next book in the series.

I thoroughly enjoyed this engrossing story of Lily, Rowan, and Lily's best friend, Jack. As a long-time reader of adult romances, the romance aspects of the plot rang true and made my heart swell. I also love the angsty best friend angle--that gets me every time! I especially connected to Lily's feeling of being different and disconnected from her classmates for being a slightly klutzy bookworm, and then meeting and falling in love with the most handsome boy in the class--every smart girl will identify with this! I am subtracting one star because of Lily's parents allowing her to roam completely unsupervised--my parents would NEVER have done that! Also, while Lily is quick to pick up on Rowan's unique qualities, she is much slower to detect Jack's. While it made the plot exciting, it seemed odd, especially since she'd known him so much longer.

EverGreen is the first book from this author and I am a fan! The book starts by introducing us to Lily and her best friend Jack. They have a special friendship that is important to them both. Then Rowan, a mysterious boy, enters Lily's life and puts a strain on that friendship. However, while that friendship is struggling, the relationship between Lily and Rowan is growing. As the book continues, the reader gets pulled into the mystery and magic that surrounds Lily's life. We learn that everybody in her life has a secret. While Lily is coping with the magic and mystery, she is is also forming lasting relationships. We get to see her feelings for Rowan and Jack change, while also meeting Giselle and Ginger. These two girls bring excitement and fun to Lily's life. Evergreen is easy to read and very hard to put down!

EverGreen is a lovely story with a fascinating plot and lovable characters. It has a charm of its own. After reading this book, I made many new fictional friends. Lily, Rowan, Jack, Ginger, and Giselle are all charismatic and will have readers fall in love with them easily. I also liked the minor characters very much. There were quite a few plot twists in the middle of the book, none of them predictable. The story is like an iceberg. You think you saw and knew everything about the characters in the first few chapters, but then you grow to realize there's actually a lot more that's going on. Unspeakable secrets, roots buried a long time ago, and the looming terror and threat of a group of extremists. Nothing is quite as it seems. The ending was unexpectedly bittersweet and was written masterfully. I can't give too much away, but EverGreen is an incredibly beautiful book, and you'll love it. You'll have to grab a copy and read it for yourself! You will NEVER regret it.

Evergreen had a very realistic introduction with high school. It fits not only the plot, but the person— Lily— very well. This is going to be vague so new readers have no spoilers: I thought the book’s main focus was love vs jealously… but the plot twists and sharp turns really show how much the characters really care about one another. I can’t read for long periods of time, but this book had me so intrigued to read almost 100 pages just today! The end of the book includes an epilogue that shows a little into the future, and the least I can say is I’m excited for part two :,) (also, we love Rowan, Giselle, and Ginger! …. Not Delilah though)

I absolutely enjoyed reading this book. I loved how it could bring out several emotions in just the one book. I started the book and finished the book in the same day because I just couldn't put it down. I loved the characters and immediately got attached to Ginger and Giselle, plus the other characters in the book. I can't wait to see where this series ends up going and so many theories have already come to mind.

I really enjoyed this book ! The characters were relatable and the story line was engaging. I kept wanting to turn the next page to see what twist and turns might happen next. This book had a great combination of romance, adventure, and the unexpected to keep it interesting for a wide variety of readers. I felt as thought I personally met the characters and lived in their world - I could picture everything. I highly recommend EverGreen !

EverGreen is a unique and invigorating take on the paranormal-romance niche. In a genre saturated with vampires and werewolves; angels and demons; Farnsworth opts to explore a fresh and uncharted concept, providing a much needed break from the cliches of Y/A fiction. EverGreen is an easy yet exhilarating read, but reader be warned: EverGreen will leave you itching for more from the impressive and talented Abby Farnsworth.

I really enjoyed reading EverGreen!! I love romance books and have read many romance books, but this book tops them. It was very interesting, and I couldn't stop reading until I knew what all was going on. It was hard for me to stop reading it until I finished the book. The author has a great imagination and very creative when it comes to writing. I highly recommend this book if you like romance books.

For a young author and her first book, EverGreen was great! I absolutely loved the plot and the characters. It did seem like it progressed really quickly and there could’ve been more time spent developing the relationships. Jack and Lily’s friendship was very impactful for the main character, but we didn’t really get to see that relationship before it ended. Great book overall though

So, I see a Facebook advertisement about a young, local author doing a book signing at a local book store. I had no idea who this gal was or anything about the book. Being a bookworm I knew I would stop by and grab a copy, get an autograph and continue on. I felt somewhat silly as I didn't have anything to talk about as I had not yet read the book!

I was waiting to finish my current read before moving on to EverGreen. I finished this book in less than 48 hours! It has a Twilight feel to me, but with so many surprises! At one point I put the book down and immediately messaged Abby on Facebook.

If you're a fan of love stories with a "fantasty" type element, you will love this book. I don't like to use the word "paranormal" as that makes me just think of ghosts and spirits. This is a little different ;)

As the headline states, I am OBSESSED and CANNOT wait for book 2!!!!!!!!!!
