Until Dawn #3

Into the Dark

Rate this book
SACRIFICE ONE, SAVE MANY.

My name is Zoe and I'm an immortal, though not by choice.

We won the battle, but we will never win the war. We've lost too much. A few of us more than others.

Baldric has been quiet--too quiet. Some think he's gone for good, moved on to ruling his new world as the rightful king he thinks himself to be. But, I know better. He will be back. He won't rest until he gets what he wants...

Me--as his queen.

They say there's hope, a reason to keep fighting for humankind, but I don't see it. Not yet, at least. All I see is darkness.

And all I want to do is forget.

Until Dawn: Into the Dark is the third installment in the Until Dawn series in a story of death and despair, love and longing, and the will to keep going even when it seems impossible--even when you want nothing more than to give up.

***Into the Dark is the third book in the Until Dawn series. The story continues in the fourth installment, Pitch Black, coming Summer 2021. CONTENT WARNING: This book contains mature language and sexual situations, as well as a very brief sexual assault scene.***

Teacher by day and writer by night, J.N. Baker has been telling stories since she was old enough to read them. With a passion for both urban fantasy and paranormal romance, J.N. Baker loves to write post-apocalyptic stories with complicated, badass female leads that have no filters. She believes that a sign of a good book is the sudden urge to throw it across the room and run to pick it back up. A healthy dash of steamy romance doesn't hurt either.

J.N. Baker lives with her husband and new daughter on their farm in California. When she isn't writing or teaching, she enjoys curling up with a good book, a glass of wine, and one of her many furry critters.

Intense!

We jump right into the broken down dark world that was left behind. We continue to follow Zoe and her intense world as she knows it. The grief, pain and sorrow she must go through is heartbreaking. This book certainly makes you question people’s true motives and Jade’s previous words truly come forth in this book. Trust no one, because no one can be trusted. I loved how a variety of different paranormales are represented in this book and that just makes the reading journey very interesting. If you enjoy reading paranormal and post apocalyptic books this series is definitely for you. The action and fast pace read makes for a fun adventure. Can’t wait to read the next book!!

When I was asked to read the first book in this series for an honest review, I said ok. Then I started reading it and at first I wasn't very enthused. It didn't seem to be my type of book. But I promised so I kept reading and let me tell you I'm so very glad I did. I fell in love with Zoe and her crew. Each book gets better and so for book number 3 is the very best one yet. I cannot wait for number 4.
This book has some fancy twists and turns in it and it will keep you on your toes. You won't be able to put it down, I know cause I wasn't able to do it myself. It's action packed and had me chewing my thumb while reading it and doing some heavy rooting for a few of the good ones in here.....
I very highly recommend this book....
I was given this book as an honest review.....
My honest opinion is "It is Awesome" you will love it.....

Zoe is struggling with the choices she has had to make and the loss of her soul mate josh. She’s distracted and always lost in her own world which is not a good thing in this post apocalyptic world with a crazy man after her. There are so many twists and turns in this book I am certain you will be surprised. Nothing is as it seems and just when you get comfortable BAM you’re side swiped and thrown into a tailspin. There’s air going on and things get super heated in this book! Who to trust? Who to depend on when nothing is as it seems! The beginning of the book was a bit slow for me but it wasn’t long before I was devouring the pages. Getting lost in the drama, in lies that are unraveling and the war between them and Baldroc.

****ARC REVIEW****
This is the 3rd book in the Until Dawn series and Zoe’s been through so much already... what else can Baldric and life throw at her now?

The 3rd book is a great continuation of the first 2 books in the series. It is suspenseful and you will doubt everyone and everything you’ve believed so far by the end of this book. The end will leave you saying “Where is the next book!?! “

“In that moment, I thought everything would be okay. But I’d been wrong before.”

Great job Ms. Baker on a wonderful series that gives paranormal readers a new take on Angels, Desmond, Shifters, Vampires and every other thing that goes bump in the night.

July and book 4 -Pitch Black can’t come soon enough.

WOW! WOW!! WOW!!!!
I am absolutely loving all these characters.
However I do have my least favorites BUT I’m so excited about where this going and what happens next!

The deaths in this one got me a little more than the ones in previous books. But I can’t wait to see if Zoe becomes a master at mind games! She has to right? And who she will eventually actually end up with!!! I know who I am rooting for!!

If you haven’t started this series yet I suggest you buy the first installment and start BECAUSE ITS FREAKING AMAZING!!! The twists and turns and snark... it’s lovely!!!

J. N. Baker has hit another home run and I can’t wait to read the next book! I desperately NEED it!!!

A must read

Post-apocalyptic life and love was never going to be simple but Zoe’s trials continue, and it seems like nothing is easy for her. This book is fast paced, fun and with some fantastic dialogue and a nice bit of steam. There is a wonderful array of supporting characters and a great big hook at the end that will leave you desperate for book 4

Another Great Book

I was a little worried when I first started reading because even though there’s quite a bit of action, it felt a little slow to me. That didn’t last. Furthermore, the author knows how to end a book in a way that will leave you breathless for more. Can’t wait for the next book!

The author really makes you fall into the world. The characters make you feel like yelling, crying and not sure you trust them, then you love them all over again. I highly recommend finding a great place and dive in, you won't want to put it down and then you'll be craving more!

The Great Battle is over and Zoe has lost her true soul mate. She is distracted and constantly having visions of Josh, but they always end horribly. The raw hurt that Zoe has over the loss of Josh is gut wrenching. Zoe has to learn how to to grieve while trying to keep her people safe from Baldric. This series just gets better as it progresses! I’m (im)patiently waiting to see what our Zoe does in book 4!

From the very get-go in the series Zoe cannot seem to stay out of trouble. She has fought as one of gods chosen ones against vampires who are looking to control the world. Living in a castle with all her friends she goes through many wild emotions and while in a dream state she is trying to hang onto Josh. Josh is her soulmate who she has been informed was killed in the great battle. So while trying to adjust to her loss she continues to fight against Baldric, who is the father and creator of all vampires. And he has now set his sights on her, as if she didn’t have enough problems. And this is just the icing on the cake. Will he succeed in obtaining her or will she win the war? I thoroughly enjoyed this book, the third in the series, of Zoe. This author portrays, writes, and actually makes you feel what the characters are going through.

What a wild ride

Ok, first of all... insert all kind of swear words... secondly.... add a few more of those... and third... how long until the next one comes out again? This will be a long wait to see what happens next. Hurry, I really need to know

It starts a little slower after a lull of inaction, but rapidly picks up speed. By now, the new “world” is pretty established, and the main characters and the survivors are just doing whatever they can to survive. No character is safe by now, and Zoe can trust no one. What she goes through is utterly heart-wrenching. Some obstacles are overcome, only to face new ones. The plot though is coming together nicely, and it’s easier to see the bigger picture in this book.

I really enjoyed seeing Zoe step into more of a leadership role, though it’s still mind boggling that William, in all his wisdom as an original Chosen, doesn’t have them better prepared for what he knew was going to come for decades. Her supporters keep changing though, which adds to the tumult. Zoe though at times acts like a hormonal teenager who is easily influenced by the whims of those around her. Sure, she stands up to Alex’s advances 8 times out of 10, but she still allows him to dictate much of her actions. I like how her powers aren’t all powerful and has some limitations. By the end, as usual, I canNOT wait to see what happens in the next book.
