Meet Kaitlyn Colby, a clumsy, inappropriate blurter with self-esteem issues, but also quite handy with an axe. She's certainly no superhero, but she fights the battles of a single mom with sweet snarkasm. Between work and pining for and co-parenting with her man-child ex (is there any other kind?), Kaitlyn has no time to find that special someone. And if she did, would he really want her anyway? Kaitlyn's sister and friends (The Sweet Water Circle) say yes, so following a typical Kaitlyn slip up, The Circle intervenes to force her out of the funk that she fell into following her unwanted divorce.
When Kaitlyn makes a decision to pursue her advertising career over love, she tumbles (like no tumble you've ever seen…or heard) into the life of hunky, bay breeze-drinking Hunter Dixon, an ad exec who is intrigued enough by Kaitlyn that he hires her firm to revive a struggling project, much like herself.
Can Kaitlyn become the woman she needs to be to land the man of her dreams? Maybe. Maybe not. But you'll laugh out loud as she tries. There's no doubt you'll be rooting for the lovable, hilarious, and relatable Kaitlyn. And you'll probably love her friends, too, which is good, because their stories are ready to be told in the Sweet Water Circle series!
Project Kaitlyn could be the funniest book you ever read. It's a hilarious romantic comedy that speaks the truth (well, most of the time) about life and love, and…hiking thongs? What the heck is that? Well, you'll just have to read it to find out!
Grayson Avery is the author of Love and Agita (September 30, 2022), a story about an Italian man with a wacky family who falls for a Jewish woman. Is it a recipe for disaster? Or ever after?
He also wrote The Sweet Water Circle Series, a romantic comedy series that focuses on childhood friends in their 30s and 40s as they help each other navigate the stormy waters of dating, marriage, divorce, and a whole lot of inappropriate, naughty, and downright hysterical situations.
Project Kaitlyn is a light hearted, Uplifting, laugh out loud, Rom Com and the first book in a new series!
Kaitlyn is a Single Mum of two and very much still hung up on her Ex. So much so, he knows he can emotionally manipulate her into a quick, and I mean quick fumble between the sheets. Leaving her pining after what could be.
But all that maybe about to change, as Kaitlyn decides, or should I say her best friends and Sis aka The Sweet Water Circle, decide it's time for her to move on, get a promotion and get on with her life.
Then she meets the oh so Charming and Sexy Hunter Dixon. Lol or should I say she practically falls at his feet... one story that's bound to get you cringing and giggling! Things might just be looking up for her!
Oh how I loved Kaitlyn, she is such an accident prone, she had me laughing so hard at some of her antics. Everyone needs a friend like Kaitlyn. Talking of friends I loved each of The Sweet Water Circle members. Even if they don't always give her the best advice.
If you are looking for a Feel-good, Highly Entertaining story, with loveable characters, laugh out loud moments and a will they won't they romance, then I can't Recommend Project Kaitlyn enough! It certainly cheered me up and put a big smile on my face! I can't wait for the next installment!

Kaitlyn has a great group of female friends but the rest of her life is a mess!! Her ex is using .her for sex, her colleagues don't respect her and she has zero confidence in herself.
I must say this series is so funny. I had some laugh out loud moments to the point I didn't want to try the next book in the series because its not about Kait. But it's worth it I promise. If you think about reading this series make sure you start with this book, book one.
This is an obvious romcom so as usual the girl will get the boy. But on the way to there are some hilarious moments in the run up. Let's see be prepared for the work meet and greet. Omg I cried with laughter.
Best part about this book is Kait is completely believable as a woman in her late 30s who is struggling with issues across the board. I wanted to infiltrate the circle and be a member myself!
I totally recommend this book easy read and a fun one aswell. It's hard to do an in depth review because it will spoil everything. But pick it up and have a laugh be a great summer beach read. If you like Tracey Bloom, Kristen Bailey, Andi Osho or Talia Hibbert you will love this. 5 🌟
A hilarious chicklit that had me laughing out loud. I really enjoyed this fantastic read by Grayson Avery about the realities of womanhood and motherhood amidst divorce, dating and co-parenting. I loved our main character, Kaitlyn Colby who is fun to read about and who gets into the most precocious of situations. Thank goodness for her fantastic support group, the ladies of The Sweet Water Circle help Kaitlyn out of a slump post divorce and hopefully into the arms of the every so handsome exec Hunter Dixon.
In a very funny and light hearted read, I devoured this book while swooning all the way. This was the perfect read for the amazing fun characters, and an overall great story full of heart.
In full disclosure, I won this book in one of the Giveaways and I was beyond excited as I have been entering for giveaways for so long and never won one. Super excited to read this.
I also usually read crime/thriller/suspense type books, so this genre wasn't one I normally would choose, but I wanted to try something different. This year I really want to step outside of my usual reads and try lots of new genres.
THE GOOD: This is a light read and fun. I finished it in one sitting as I really need a positive book and something super easy to read. The storyline was all about Kaitlyn (duh) who is a single mom and pining for her ex-husband until she meets another very handsome man.
THE NOT SO WONDERFUL: On an unusual note, there were quite a few typos in the book which I honestly have never seen in a book. I figure that it has to go through so many proofreaders, so this was surprising to me - but I know it has nothing to do with the book itself - just a side note.
I think one of the most disappointing things about this book is I honestly didn't give a hoot about the main character - or really any of the characters - at all. Kaitlyn was always portrayed as this wimpy, harried single mom and I immediately didn't like her. She didn't seem like a very caring mom - and as a mom - I had a hard time with this. She just seemed to be too stressed all the time about herself and her ex-husband, going out with her friends, and then the new "hunky" guy. I mean what was there to like?
The rest of the book was "will they or won't they" which sigh...I'll save the ending. There just wasn't much substance to this book. It seemed like every Hallmark movie I've seen (and that's not many) and so many other movies I've already seen. Nothing really new or exciting going on.
I wanted to like this so much sheerly because of the fact that it was a giveaway book - again super exciting to have won. However, I would be doing a disservice if I wasn't honest. I know I won't bother reading any of the other books in what seems to be a series as it was just too boring and I cannot recommend it at all.
This will brighten up even the darkest day! What the world needs now is more Kaits! She’s an absolutely indomitable character that takes what life offers her and lives it. Divorced mother of two darling and thoroughly adored children, she is dealing with her ex beautifully and is in the midst of a hot romance with Hunter. Working at the same firm has its complications, but it also has the positive that they both understand the demands that are put on each other. You never know how she is going to react to any situation, but do know that it’s going to have the Kait flair. There are definitely more books by Ms. Avery in my future. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
This book was hilarious! I needed a funny, light read after finishing up a heavy one and this sure delivered. I laughed out loud so many times that it started driving my kids crazy since I wouldn’t share the adult humor with them. I loved the friendships/relationships that developed throughout the story and I’m a sucker for a series so I’m excited to get to hear more about The Sweet Water Circle! If you’re looking for a laugh out loud romantic comedy, this is a perfect choice. It should be a movie.
I received a free copy of this book from VRO in exchange for an honest review.
This book had the potential to be cute and uplifting, but it fell a bit short for me.
There was a lot more telling the reader about Kaitlyn’s personal development, rather than actually demonstrating it. I didn’t feel like her big epiphany at the end had the foundation to back it up. It takes more than a few weeks to change life-long patterns of an utter lack of self esteem.
I felt like the conflict between Kaitlyn and Hunter could have been easily resolved by sitting down and having a conversation, which is a personal pet peeve. It also frustrated me every time Kaitlyn tried to express how uncomfortable Hunter’s relationship with Sasha made her and he blew her off and wouldn’t even listen.
There were some good elements, like Kaitlyn’s circle of friends, and the plot was well thought out, but it could have used a bit more polishing in execution.
Obviously, I knew this book was chick-lit and I was looking for something light and funny to read. This was definitely light (leaning toward vapid) but so not funny it almost felt intentional. The tone and story was so bad that I thought at times maybe the author was doing a spoof of chick lit.
The characters are flat at best and annoyingly awful for the most part. The story was choppy, unoriginal, and pretty much a Frankenstein version of every 1990s rom-com in the worst way. I mean, it was just not a good or entertaining book. Needless to say, I will not be reading the rest of the series although I do hope it gets better for those who do read them!
This is the start of a new series featuring a group of friends who're initially in their thirties. They call themselves the Sweet Water Circle and plan interventions to help each other navigate the pitfalls life throws in the way of members of the circle.
The focus for this story is Kaitlyn Colby and the Circle are endeavouring to stop her being a wimp and booty call for the father of her two children, her ex-husband who left and divorced her but keeps coming back whenever he feels inclined. He also emotionally manipulated and undermined her so she has low self esteem and doesn't think herself worthy of love or attention. I'm pleased to say that she does start to stand up for herself as the story progresses but she was very irritating at times, especially with her attitude and reaction to someone she perceives as her rival, Sasha - talk about disliking someone, these two definitely demonstrate it! I was also somewhat concerned about her attitude to her children . . . just strange!
Hunter Dixon is very different. He's a go with the flow type, a handsome hunk, considerate, sweet and charming but willing to be straight talking when he feels it is necessary.
This is a story that had me laughing out loud at times and uncomfortably cringing at others. Kait is an accident prone klutz, calls a spade a spade, takes no prisoners yet has no sense of self worth. This is the story of how the love of a good man helps her become more confident in her self and less of a mouse, though with plenty of obstacles to be overcome along the way. I believe the next book in the series will have Jenn, Kait's sister, as the focus and I suspect that'll be a great read as she's a character I really enjoyed in this story. This is an easy read romcom with some hilarious and embarrassing incidents.
Thanks for my copy of this book which I have voluntarily read and honestly reviewed.
This was a fun book! The author has a sense of humor & I caught myself laughing & giggling my way thru the book! A divorced woman with two young kids, an unhelpful ex who takes advantage of her. Kait stops answering to Kaitlynn, Linnie or any form that reminds her of her marriage & becomes Kait! When she meets “Hunky Hunter” & they start working together, going on dates, etc! Of course, it isn’t all smooth when they start drinking Bay Breezes but, will they work it out? Even with Sasha around stirring up trouble! A fun book that I will recommend!
Wow! I was hooked on this book from the first chapter to the last. It is chocked full of so many moments of unfettered reality. I laughed and cried and groaned and rooted for the characters. It has romantic comedy screaming from its pages. I look forward to reading the other books in this series. Thanks to Voracious Readers Only for bringing this author and his books to my attention.
This book was absolutely hilarious!! I loved it! I’ve never laughed so hard over a book. It’s definitely worth five stars and a recommendation. I’m ready for Jenn’s story and whatever may come after.
This book is so funny!!! Kaitlyn and the rest of the Sweet Water ladies definitely helped me escape the craziness of everyday life!!! I haven’t laughed this much reading a romance novel and can’t wait to see what fun they create next!!
I loved this book from the beginning. It was a funny and kept me laughing. Was definitely a great read if you are looking for a book to make you laugh this is the one.
Funny laugh out loud rom com! Kaitlyn is a hot mess but has some amazing friends! By the end she finds herself and kinda cleans up. But still has her moments.
This book was so hilarious my husband got made at me for laughing too much! When a book claims it will be funny I am always apprehensive but this book did not undersell itself! Such a great novel and I am looking forward to more books by this author.
There is such a strong message in the story. Kati has low self-esteem. She doesn't think she deserves the best of anything, let alone the gorgeous Hunter. The message is clear: if someone doesn't think he or she deserves goodness, he or she will get exactly as expected. It really is an awesome story. I loved it.
This book is funny. It's a great romantic love story, and it's funny. It had me laughing out loud. Not smiling or chuckling but deep throat, riotous, noisy laughing out loud. I loved it.
I have never laughed out loud this much while reading a book!! I had tears rolling down my face when she fell down the stairs!! So glad I decided to step outside the box and read a rom-com!!! 5stars plus!!!
I couldn’t put this book down, it was a real page Turner, and I had a few laugh out loud moments and I mean doubled over trying to breathe moments, yes I find farts extremely funny, I’m so glad it worked out for Kaitlyn she really did deserve a happy ending.

I read the first book and it’s incredible . I still believe it will happened . Some of us need more courage ment and a push that we are worthy of someone, and find true love.
This book sneaks up on you! It starts out sorta ok,then when you think it won’t get better,it does! And it does again, and again!A divorced, curvy woman with two kids just doesn’t think she has a lot going for her.Her confidence was tanked, and nothing was going right,as usual. Then she decides not to let it all bother her and she is worth it,thank you very much! She doesn’t really need her ex to come give her two minute pity sex, she’s better than that!Thats when things start happening for her.And they’re good! So good you’ll really need to read this! I mean, really! You’ll be glad you took my word for it!
The blunt honesty in Project Kaitlyn was nothing short of refreshing! Kaitlyn tells it like she sees it, even when she shouldn’t, and it is what so many of us wish we’d have the allowance to say out loud when faced with similar scenarios and situations.
Kaitlyn's getting hit from all directions when it comes to her love life and her work life, which ends up intersecting in only the best way possible. Hunter Dixon reminded me of a Mr. Big-type character, you know, from Sex and the City. Only, the life that Kaitlyn lives isn’t anywhere near as cosmopolitan as the ladies from New York City, not when she’s strapped with her man-child ex—what a perfect way to describe him, and the floozy acerbic coworker who seems taken with Hunter, too, going out of her way to torture Kaitlyn on a near daily basis. Kaitlyn’s not sure which direction she should go in, in order to find her own means of happiness while making sure her children are taken care of, too. And, it doesn’t help that she has a tough time asserting herself when she needs to the most.
Despite the self-esteem issues, it was fun to witness the banter between the characters who mean the most to Kaitlyn, and the ones she’d rather toss an axe at. Project Kaitlyn was chock full of sweet, sweet dialogue, and I could easily picture the scenarios, the settings, could place myself in Kaitlyn’s shoes, even in the moments that were cringeworthy and incredibly awkward; there were a lot of those. But at the heart of it all is a path to evolvement, and I really enjoyed watching Kaitlyn find her way through the pages and the heartache and the triumphs, too, because deep at the heart of it, this is really a story about a woman who has lost herself, and needs to rediscover who she is.
Kaitlyn is funny. Charming. Quirky and Awkward. But most importantly, she’s real. I really enjoyed her and her story, making this a worthy five-star experience!
Kaitlyn is a single mother of two, a product tester with low self confidence who still pines away for her ex-husband.
Her best friends since childhood (Donna, Shelly, and Jenn-also her sister) form the Sweet Water Circle along with waitlist member, Taylor. The group makes a collective decision during a girls night that Kaitlyn needs to have a fresh start. She starts the work week with a new name, just Kait, a new haircut, and the chance to work on an actual advertising project.
But her partner in the project, brand fixer, Hunter Dixon, has got Kait daydreaming about more than just how to change the image of Mrs. Potts foods.
My Thoughts:
I started laughing in Chapter 5 of this book and never stopped! I’m still chuckling over some of the hilarious scenes and quick witted dialogue.
There is a workplace rival, Sasha. who fits into the plot perfectly.
And these scenes..they are so funny. Kaitlyn at a fancy cocktail party for potential clients, Kaitlyn and the Sweet Water Circle at GNO, and Kait and Hunter’s date night to A Taste of India and ax throwing to name my top three laugh out louds.
Funny, feel-good, and flawless are the three words that best describes this read!
This is the first book in the brand new Sweet Water Circle Series, and is all about Kaitlyn and Hunter. Their story is told over the course of 32 Chapters. The story starts off strong immediately getting the reader intrigued, leaving them wanting to continue reading. This story in general is very easy to get stuck into, not only does the interactions between Hunter and Kaitlyn keep the reader intrigued in there ongoing relationship. You also have the interactions between Kaitlyn and her friends also known as the Sweet Water Circle group. These interactions not only keep the reader interested but also gets them intrigued about Kaitlyn's friends. Once the reader gets stuck into this story and absorbed into Kaitlyn's life they will have a hard time putting it down. Between the character interactions and the general plot there is nothing they wont love. The whole book keeps the readers on there toes. Overall this book was amazing and really got me invested in the Sweet Water Circle group. I was so happy to then discover that the 2nd book all about Kaitlyn's sister Jenn is out in April. Everything about this book I adored including the ending, which kept me on my toes.
In an effort to look for an ARC for a challenge I am doing...I found this on Hidden Gem books. However, I failed realize that it was published the day I found it. (oops) Any way....ever find a book (mostly romances for me) that you want to finish to find out what happens but at the same time you want to savor each word on the page? That's what this was for me. I love Kaitlyn's story. She is a character you can't help but pull for. You want her to succeed. I love that shes clumsy and snarky. She's human and humble. Plus she lusts after a certain leading character in Outlander....I think yall know who I am talking about. I love the interaction between the ladies of the Sweet Water Circle. They are women that celebrate each other and really do have each other's backs. Of course, I swooned over Mr. Hunter Dixon much like Mrs. Kaitlyn. One of my favorite things about romances is the banter and Kaitlyn and Hunter don't disappoint. I love their interactions. Trust me...if you get a chance read this....it's what you need....their is definitely romance with just the right amount of drama.
Want a wonderful feel good book that makes you laugh out loud? Well this is the one for you. Our protagonist Kait is a wonderful feisty lady who has been through life's ups and downs. A single mum with two children and things that just keep getting in her way. Car breaks down, she fall down stairs (spectacularly) and has self doubts. She has great family and friends who do their best to help (and hinder) and make funny suggestions for getting over the ex husband. With a hunky Hunter to keep her and us occupied I enjoyed this from cover to cover. A great read and I would recommend it especially during this pandemic whilst things are rather grim in real life. It took me two sittings to read the whole book - I thought about the characters whilst not reading the book and now it's finished I feel sad that they will no longer in my life. I was given a copy of this book from Voracious readers only for an honest review.
