Monk and her friends are back, battling the forces of evil in this sequel to Let Us Prey.
Kilkenny Sharp is doing well in her final year of school and looking forward to going to university. That is, until a murderous shapeshifter enters her dreams one night with a terrifying request. Kilkenny refuses and is forced into a violent dreamscape.
Kilkenny and her friends struggle to avoid the lethal traps left for them in the dreamscape while they search for Terri Warland. They have to hunt down and kill the evil shapeshifter once and for all or they'll never be safe in any world.
(from the publisher's website) Jordan Falconer was born in Sydney, Australia, and from a very young age had an interest in ghoulies, ghosties and long legged beasties and all things that go bump in the night. After surviving Catholic school (twice!) she graduated from Sydney University with an honors degree in Psychology. She currently resides in Canada with her other half and three small, demanding dogs.
Three hundred and sixty nine pages later and I still don't have a clue of what was going on in this book.
This is obviously a sequel and there was absolutely no bridging or explanation from the last book. The story starts in the middle of a torture scene and proceeds to throw a bunch of characters and confusing plots and worldbuilding together. Normally I can catch on and figure it out, but in this case I couldn't. I couldn't keep track of the characters let alone be engaged with them and I had some real reservations over the romance part - age gap is cool, high school/teacher is not.
This was a massive miss for me. Second in a series - and I didn't read the first (and won't be).
