Our Lord Jesus used parables to reveal and to conceal. He wanted His disciples to have a clear understanding of the mysteries of Heaven. But for outsiders, His storytelling was a veil to conceal the truths of the kingdom.
Since Jesus chose to teach us with parables, we ought to pay close attention to His way of doing it. By blending the various versions of the parables in the synoptic Gospels and collecting them all in one place, Douglas Wilson sharpens our focus on these tales and on the Lord’s method and meaning in their telling.
Jesus taught with stories, which means stories must be one of the ways our Creator designed us to learn. I've never read straight through all the parables, so this little volume was an edifying exercise.
