A Dark Mafia Shifter Romance

We aren't her saviors. We're her worst nightmare.

We've been called vicious monsters. Brutal. Cold. Savage.
We rule the criminal underworld the same way we rule our pack—with absolute control. We take what we want and demand complete obedience.

When she comes to us, she's damaged. Fragile. Wounded. And oh so tempting.
Soft skin, haunted eyes, and a darkness inside her that sets us on edge.

She's not broken… yet. But that's what we do best.

For thirty days she belongs to us, the Baron Alphas. She's our property, to do with as we please.

She thinks it’ll be easy. That we'll have mercy on her. That we'll use a gentle touch. And that she'll be able to walk away from us at the end of the month.

She's wrong.

Our little fawn will come to know our cruel strength. She'll see the fierce beasts prowling inside us. Feel the hunger of the wolf's teeth against her throat.

And she'll beg for more...

DNF! 30% into this book and I lost all interest in this storyline quickly. I knew I couldn't finish it... The heroine was just too broken for my taste and I couldn't fall in love with these heroes either.. this just wasn't my cup of tea and I didn't want to waste any more of my time trying to mutter through this F-Up story... And don't even get me started on the damn book cover... Come. On. Elaina! You couldn't polish the model toes? Hello00? Seriously she needs a pedicure and a cute toenail polish jeesh! (Eyeroll) The presentation is everything!

I was not expecting to like this book as much as I did. Seeing so many 5/4 stars is always a bit suspect to me but in this particular case I agree it’s worth those ratings.
This was a well written book, with engaging characters, a heroine who is so broken inside after seeing the death of her parents, that you can’t help but feel for her. There’s a debt and as payment her douche bf hands her over to the alphas. The 3 hunky gorgeous alphas are taken with her...usually here I would ‘eye roll’ but surprisingly I didn’t when reading the book! Kudos to the authors for writing so well. The alphas, all in their own unique ways, try and fix our broken heroine (all in v. “never would it work in the real world” way but this is fiction and paranormal so I will refrain from the ‘eye roll’).
Even the ‘being fed’ and ‘sitting on the cushion on the floor like an obedient pup’ didn’t really put me off although I personally loathe reading things like this usually. The sex was hotttttt and although I could predict the cliffhanger ending a mile away, I will be keeping my eye out for book 2.

I've been getting more into trilogies lately and I'm not avoiding them like I used to but I think I need to take a break from them. Lately books haven't kept me intrigued enough to continue the story after the cliffhanger and that was the case with this book as well. The storyline was interesting but I felt like the pace was a bit all over the place. It made it hard to truly get into the story, especially with the wolf aspect of it. I may come back to it at some point but I wouldn't be surprised if that never happens.

This is a dark and twisted read and I loved every word of it. I was so into this book that I did not want it to end. There is a small bit of mystery but not from the story itself. It is more from Jemma aka Fawn. She is a broken soul that is trying to live her life. Then one day that all changes. Her boyfriend Bryan pawns her off to the Blackfang Barons to clear a debt. She has other plans. Will it go the way she wants. Draven, Kade and Bishop accept that she is only temporary or is she. She calls to them somehow and they to her. They seem to break her some until she finds out what they truly are. Her nightmares come true. A war is coming and it seems that she is in the middle of it. Can she handle it or will she finally break. I cannot wait for the next book to come out.

*I received an eARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review*

I have no words for how perfect this book was. Literally no words. It was everything I wanted and so much more. It deserves so much praise because this book was absolutely perfect. I have no critiques, no issues, this book was just literally everything. Saying I need the next book like I need air would be the understatement of the century. While I’m writing this, I’m literally shaking because I need the next book in my hands that bad.

Easy to get into this world where shifts rule the underbelly of the city. I didn't feel the whole "mafia" vibe though... it just seemed like a normal pack book.
Lots of Dom/Sub activity! Loved the Anti-Heros! Give me more!!

Fawn

From the first page, this book drew me in and before I knew it, I was finished and left with a hangover from hell. This book is dark and gritty and invoked so many strong emotions in me, making me wish the next book was already available just to binge the hell out of this series. These authors know how to build an amazing world and characters that win you over.

Having survived a wolf attack that killed her parents when she was 13, Jemma has been emotionally crippled ever since. Institutionalized for years, now she lives with an emotionally abusive man and strips to make the money he demands. When he falls behind on his debts, he sells her as repayment. Jemma sees the three men as everything she has ever secretly dreamed of. She has no idea that they are actually the very creatures that haunt her every nightmare. The men want her fears, her broken soul, her obedience. She is their little fawn.

What a display of trauma. Fawn is one of the more damaged lead females I have encountered. Fragile. Living a shadowed existence. Her fear is palpable. She is frozen in time, unable to let go of the past and her fears. The men, Draven, Bishop, and Kade do not have a soft bone in their bodies. These men are controlling, dangerous, deadly. They are everything Jemma needs. Each of the men helps her confront part of her brokenness, fear, guilt, and anger. Their approaches may not be textbook; they were dark and sexy and for Jemma, effective. Just one week in and she was starting to break through her layers of defense and begin to blossom. But then as suddenly as she found herself the property of Draven, Bishop, and Kade, it's all ripped away. Once again she's living out her nightmare and this time she may not survive. This book surprised me. I wasn't certain that I would enjoy it. I did. The trauma was genuine, the men were deliciously dark balanced between brilliance and unhinged, and the story was compelling. That cliffhanger killed me; I want more.

*I received a free copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.

OMG this book is totally fantastic!! I was unable to put it down once I got started no matter what was going on. Full of dark events that have shaped all the main characters things get explosive when they all come together thanks to a very shady deal. Takes you on a ride that you never want to stop leading to a surprising ending that made me want the next book right now. A total must read for fans of dark mafia reverse harem romance. I totally loved it so I give it 5/5 stars!

This book grabs you from the first words and will not let you go until the last words. It is dark, twisty, and oh so amazing. It hits you in the feels at times, makes you absolutely beyond furious at others, and keeps you on your toes. Jemma has been broken by the sight of losing her parents when she was younger. The guilt of having survived that encounter has eaten away at her until she is a shell of a person, going through the motions, and living with a guy who needs to die the most painful death that Bishop can come up with. But through a twist of fate, she ends up with three Alpha wolves who are each twisted and broken in their own ways. Draven is a control freak, but with Jemma, he is able to use that control to make her feel alive. Bishop, my new book boyfriend and current obsession, is a self confessed sociopath who uses that to control Jemma in a different way that gives her an outlet for her guilt. He sees into her very soul and their connection is electric. Kade is willing to be the "punching" bag to Jemma's emotions and gives her an outlet to be vocal and physical with it. Together, these guys are an unstoppable force who will stop at nothing to bring Jemma back to life and keep her in their lives. I will warn that the ending is a cliffhanger and explosive, but it keeps you wanting more. I cannot wait to see what happens next in this series.

3,5 stars It was ok, well written but I was expecting more somehow. I read reviews of how original it was but I didn't read anything that I hadn't read before. Not to take away from the story but I think the concept of RH is just not my thing. I am more or a menage type of girl.

Dark + Mafia + Paranormal = YES YES YES
Soooo this was recommended in a FB group I belong to and it was available in KU and it had tropes from three of my fave genres - you know it I one-clicked and settled in that night to read this

As the dawn came began to shine through my window I was just coming up on 79% - It was that engaging

So this plays in the land of paranormal so immediately you know there is going to be a bit of stretching reality - that being said - it was pretty light in my opinion

I want to start with our heroine - Fawn - a very apropos name I must say. I always enjoy it when a heroine is honest about her feelings and desires. Nothing more irritating than a back and forth dialogue for 50 pages that changes absolutely nothing. Jemma had her moments where she stopped and questioned her feelings but she was all very real with herself.

Bryan is just a parasite ...

Now our three Alphas -
Draven is the top dog (couldn't resist) Mr. Calm Cool and Collect
Kade is the loose cannon but he is also IMO the gentler of the three when it comes to playing with their little Fawn
Bishop is darkness wrapped up in an OOOHHHH so sexy suit - under that calm intelligent facade is a darkness so pitch no amount of light can break through - he also is my fave. There is just something about an intelligent man who embraces all his sides that calls to my inner hussy

From the beginning I was hooked.
The characters are vivid and I connected with them right away
The suspense was a constant from beginning to end - this ends on a hellacious cliff hanger!
There is an undercurrent of darkness that was present throughout the story line - I think that is what kept me from setting this one down - I was constantly sitting on that edge
And don't even get me started on the physical --- HOLY HOTNESS

Wow!

It is not often I give a 5 star review. First off I have to say that this book is out of my normal comfort zone. After reading the first 4 chapters I almost stopped reading. But I pushed on and am so glad I did. Jemma may seem to be weak but underneath it she is strong and fights to get past her demons. This has all sorts of BDSM in it so be aware. The Alphas push Jemma to her limits and beyond time and time again. Could not put this down.

Oh my!

Well I don’t even know where to start with this! It grabs you from the beginning and doesn’t let go until the end, but then it still doesn’t let you go because it’s a cliffhanger!

This has blood, guts, kink, shifters, and mind games. If you like all that you’ll like this!

Fawn was this undeniable magnet that drew me in and kept me awake until 4 AM.

I loved the premise, I loved the characters, and I loved how it was all shaping up in this series starter. The only reason for the one star down is that I wanted the guys to be a bit less mysterious. I didn't necessarily need them to share more of themselves with Jemma yet, I know that needs more time to come, but I was hoping we'd learn more about their backstories through their POVs- the tastes we got just weren't enough for me!

Jemma is a very intriguing FMC- she's been torn apart by the demons she hasn't managed to master yet, but she has these moments of strength and personality that really pop out and show she really has such great potential to really grow and become a strong woman in her own right. In many ways, she's already strong. She makes these little moments toward healing from her trauma and taking away the control it has over her with the help of Draven, Bishop, and Kade.

The men are all 100% alpha, working together to rule over their pack/gang. Each of them has a specialty- Draven is the alpha of the alphas, Bishop is the sociopathic strategist, and Kade is the wildman enforcer. Each one is just this force that takes over the page, and they each have their kink to explore and a different way to help Jemma overcome the pain that's robbed her of the life that she deserves. We've got some light elements of BDSM (with hints of more to come), SO MUCH dominance, and a lot of steam to get this series rolling.

Not only are the characters worth digging into, but the plot is interesting as well. Along with the personal journey that both Jemma and the guys are going on, because you better believe she's making an impact on them as much as they are on her, I'm totally into seeing where this conflict goes between the different gangs of shifters. It adds another layer to the plot so that it's not just a character-driven piece but also leading us into this plot that promises to be full of action.

Overall, I was so pleased to enjoy this book so much. I've read series by both of the two authors before and really enjoyed them, so it shouldn't have been a surprise that they'd come up with something awesome when they joined forces and worked on something together. Very much looking forward to book two.

DOM/SUB usually isn’t my thing but this book was absolute 🔥🔥🔥🔥 Jemma is thrust into a situation that will either throw her into yet another nightmare or make her finally stand on her own two feet but will she be far to broken to live after it’s all said and done? I was in the edge of my seat reading this story and immediately jumped to book number two. Now all I can do is wait until the conclusion finally is available.

The story had potential, but to me it felt... lifeless? Apathetic?

I read this awhile ago, probably a few months ago and I don't know why I didn't write a review. I think I read to maybe about chapter 14 and then skipped to the last three chapters, chapter 32 to 34. I do that sometimes if the story is moving too slowly for me and I want to cut to the chase, or if I am not particularly enjoying the story and just want to see what happens at the end.

I just didn't like the way the three alphas treated an already traumatised woman. Granted, the blurb does say that they aren't going to be gentle with her. But I didn't like Bishop's way of using wax play and sex as a sort of therapy. And I didn't like the way he takes her survivor's guilt and says he's punishing her because she wants to be punished, for running away when her parents were attacked, for letting them sacrifice themselves for her, for not turning back and trying to help them. It just left a very bad taste in my mouth. He gives voice to her own accusatory thoughts and lashes her with them. It's supposed to be cathartic, but I really think it's abusive. When he pushes himself into her, he taunts her that she deserves to be trapped like this with a beast, and that she actually craves this, she wants to be caught by the wolves. And with that she orgasms, sobbing and trembling.

I guess you could say I was warned, since the blurb does say it's a 'dark' romance. I like reading BDSM relationships but I felt like the authors took BDSM and sort of... perverted it? Like, they used BDSM elements but twisted those elements for their own ends? Normally when I read BDSM it's hot because the sub knows what to expect and she has a safeword and she knows she can trust the dom to take care of her. And she also gets off on the kink, so it's something she desires. But in this book, Jemma doesn't know what to expect, there's no discussions of boundaries or limits, no safeword. She just met these alphas; she doesn't know them, let alone trust them. So to initiate a BDSM play and use that to stir up the Jemma's memories and grief, and then not only bring her to recall her trauma but push her further into it by flaying her with her 'failure' of running away and not trying to save her parents, and 'punish' her by dripping hot wax onto her body, and having her be trembling with sorrow, guilt, grief, as well as getting turned on, it was just too much for me.

Shifter, mafia, RH... there really isn't anything more that I book could have that would hit all my must read list. I have been anticipating this story for awhile so I devoured it the moment I could. It has such a elegant darkness to it, I could feel the passion and emotions, the tension and pull. The characters are amazing and well developed. I think some times in RH stories a few of the characters get "forgotten" about but in this one, each played a significant role to the outcome of both the romance but also the plot lines. The characters are broken but also strong, and I liked the growth during the story. I want to say more but the story really needs to be read to be full appreciated. The cliffhanger is deadly and I will be waiting impatiently for more. I received an ARC and am leaving an honest review. 3.75 stars.

I have read all of Elaina Jadin’s work and only Marie Robinson through their cowriting partnership (definitely going to move her books up my TBR list!) and I did not see this one coming. I loved every second of it (except the ending and cliffhanger but man does it having me itching for Fury already!!). I really connected with Jemma early on in this book. The trauma she has to go through as a kid is horrible and she is a broken shell when things trigger her worst memories and nightmares. Add on a disgusting dbag boyfriend who does the unthinkable and no wonder Jemma behaves the way she does/decides to change her life with the Alphas of The Barons.

Little does she know her nightmares are lurking everywhere in her new abode. The Alphas do their best to help her overcome her past, but the only way to really do that though is to break her walls down and help build her back up. This leads to some very tense and darkly delicious scenes. I have to say, I love all these Alphas. I think I love certain things about each that makes its hard for me to choose a favorite. I still think I gravitate toward Kade a little bit more, but Draven and Bishop are like a close even second by JUST a hair. Just be forewarned, you DO NOT want to read this at work or near family members because it’s like so 🔥🔥🔥, my face was red and my family kept asking if I was coming down with something/needed anything hahaha. Yeah...need for a cold shower or a boyfriend 😂😂😂. That scene with Kade....daaaang *fans self*. You will not be disappointed by the men in this book (except the dbag boyfriend, karma needs to get him back tenfold at this point). You will love that Jemma isnt a TSTL kind of character, that her strength and feistiness come out throughout the book. I loved seeing her grow and start to trust in others again, even if she didnt know their biggest truth that definitely messed stuff up later in the book haha.

I 100000% recommend this book. It griped me from the very beginning and I even read through headaches and migraines to read more of this amazing story. Give this RH paranormal mafia story a chance. If you have triggers, make sure to read the warnings before reading. There are dom/sub scenes and scenes that might be uncomfortable for some (for me they were amazing and I need moooore), but keep in mind the Alphas are legit shifters with beasts, so they let their feral/uninhibited side come out to play.

5 stars (I would give more if I could!) for this amazing first book in the new series by Elaina Jadin and Marie Robinson ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

After loosing her parents to some kind of wild wolf attack Jemma broke apart. Having no family members left she is left adrift with only a friend Bryan who later became more. Stuck with nightmares that leave her vulnerable Jemma stays with him not knowing where else to go. Little does she know her life is about to be changed by three alphas. Men who have purchased her for a debt that Bryan owes. But they make a deal with her. Submit to them for thirty days, obey their every whim and she will be rewarded. She can walk away when ever she wants, but when Draven, Kade and Bishop are done with her. Will she want to?

Okay so this is the second book I have read by Elaina Jadin and my first by Marie Robinson. I will be changing that after reading Fawn. I am completely captivated or I could say obsessed with Jemma and her story. From the first sentence to the last, I could not tear my eyes away from my kindle. This will also be going on my book shelf.

We are combining two of my favorite things shifters and mafia. These guys are not romantic, they are not soft. They are alphas all the way. They tell their fawn what to do and when to do it. They take what they want, and the thing is they make you want to be dominated by them. I do believe that my reactions to them would be just like what Jemma did. I believe that these alphas just moved themselves up to the top of my favorite men list.

Jemma, I felt for her so much. After watching her parents die savagely, not to mention living life as best as she can. She is completely captivated by the Alphas. They call to something in her, she wants the freedom or punishments that they give. She starts to crave them, and I do not blame her.

The plot itself had me intrigued, add in the well written characters, the drama, the super sexy times and that ending. There is a cliff hanger, one that fits the title of the second book Fury very well. I so cannot wait to see what happens next.

The Baron Alphas are feared for a reason—ruthless rulers of the criminal underworld and dominant leaders of their pack. Cold. Savage. Unforgiving. They take what they want and demand nothing less than total submission. When she’s delivered to them, wounded and haunted, she awakens something dangerous beneath their skin. For thirty days, she’s theirs—claimed as property, a plaything bound by blood and dominance.

“Myself and two others. Their names are Kade and Bishop,” I answer just as softly. “No one else will be allowed to touch you. You’ll be provided for entirely. But if you choose to stay, we expect complete obedience. There will be no denying us.”

EYE ROLL. If I could unread this, I would. She was traumatized, yet she ended up in an even worse situation with men who only wanted to dominate her 🫩😐. I love a good alpha, but this was 99% smut and 1% emotional connection. Bishop did talk to her, but that was in the last chapter, and it was too little, too late. If I could unread this, I would. Well, these authors certainly grabbed my attention at “dark mafia shifter romance”.
Not everyday I get my two favorite tropes in one book!

“A part of her has found security and foundation in the darkness we offer. With us, there are no expectations of whole mindedness or whole heartedness. She can give in to her brokenness and let us wear her down to dust. And then, if she wishes, she can be remade in our image. Strong, capable, and enduring.”

Little Fawn has a horrible traumatizing past that has made her extremely fearful of dogs/wolves.
She has made less than stellar decisions in her life that leads her to having a crappy boyfriend who owes a lot of money to many people. He thought his ticket out would be to trade his girlfriend for seven days to clear his debt.

Little does she know, he’s feeding his girlfriend to the wolves.
This book is kinky with some hot ass alphas. Who also are in the mafia. These brutal shifters start to fall for this broken human girl while trying to find ways to get her over her fear of canines.. before revealing themselves as wolves themselves.
It’s extremely well written and packed with action.
I really loved this book and can’t wait for the second one.

Seriously so dang good!

This book. This book, y’all. It’s so dang good. Jemma, traumatized from witnessing the murder of her parents, she’s just going through the motions of life. When her worthless ‘boyfriend’ sells her to payoff his debts,
she’s thrust into a whole new world and forced to face life and her trauma. I absolutely loved this book! The FMC, Jemma or Fawn as the alphas call her, is so beautifully broken but starts to come alive, and the alphas are just delicious! The book is just as it describes - a dark, mafia, shifter romance - hitting all my buttons and doing it just right. The alphas show their Fawn the beauty in true submission, the strength that can come from confronting your demons, and the pleasure & clarity that can come from the bite of pain. This book is gritty and full of both angst and steam. I couldn’t get enough, fully engrossed from start to finish. I will say there is an epic cliffhanger that has me desperate for the next installment. I highly recommend this book - it’s definitely one that I will reread more than once.

Twisted, sexy and downright grotesquely beautiful

This book was an intense ride. My mind is still reeling from that ending. Jemma’s character is broken from a trauma that took place at a young age. She feels that she deserves every bad thing that has happened because she was the sole survivor. Draven is the sexy broody alpha male who wants a submissive he can mold to his liking and carnal tastes. Bishop is a sociopath to the extreme he wants to take her apart and see what makes her tick then put her back to the way he wants. Kade is the sweet loyal alpha who wants to keep her and cherish her. He wants her to shine the way she was always meant to be. Bryan, god I can’t wait for that a-hole to get what’s coming to him. This book has some very dark themes. PTSD and other triggers. They do not take away from the story but help give a better understanding as to why she reacts to certain situations. There’s bdsm themes as well which are steamy as $*%&. This book is one of my favorite reads this year so far.

Dark and amazing!

Jemma is stuck in a nightmare on repeat. The poor girl saw her parents being killed by wolf when she was young. She's been barely surviving, living with a boyfriend who treats her like sh*t and who doesn't hesitate to sell her to pay off his debts.
Jemma is the kind of character I cannot help but love. She's just an empty shell at the beginning of the book but when she meets Draven, Bishop and Kade, she faces her fears (even though it often triggers panic attacks) and slowly but surely gets stronger. She starts to be her own person and stands up for herself (especially to that dickhead Bryan, who deserves the worse).

Draven, Bishop and Kade are each intriguing in their own way, in their relationship with Jemma. I want to know more about their past, about what made them the men they are right now.

And that ending, it's killing me! I cannot help to read FURY!

Well..... This was a dark and wild ride!

Living with horrific, all encompassing PTSD from the worst night of her life, and a cold, abusive relationship with the only man who ever showed her any type of care, exotic dancer Jemma's life takes a turn when she is sold to 3 powerful men to pay her boyfriends debts for a period of time. Surprisingly they break her down even more with their harsh touches but in the breaking she starts to find some quiet. Slowly she starts to trust and to feel stronger, until it all goes horribly, horribly wrong.

This is a dark book, it deals with severe ptsd and has bdsm elements throughout - however it is a fantastic story, brilliantly written, I love Jemma the FMC - perhaps being a ptsd survivor I can empathise, but she is so strong underneath the fragility on her surface. Such a great story and yes - I can't wait for book 2!! Only 1 more month!!
