Walter Elias “Walt” Disney (December 5, 1901 – December 15, 1966) was an American film producer, director, screenwriter, voice actor, animator, entrepreneur, entertainer, international icon, and philanthropist. Disney is famous for his influence in the field of entertainment during the 20th century. As the co-founder (with his brother Roy O. Disney) of Walt Disney Productions, Disney became one of the best-known motion picture producers in the world. The corporation he co-founded, now known as The Walt Disney Company, today has annual revenues of approximately U.S. $35 billion.
Disney is particularly noted for being a film producer and a popular showman, as well as an innovator in animation and theme park design. He and his staff created some of the world's most famous fictional characters including Mickey Mouse, a character for which Disney himself was the original voice. He has been awarded four honorary Academy Awards and has won twenty-two competitive Academy Awards out of fifty-nine nominations, including a record four in one year, giving him more awards and nominations than any other individual. He also won seven Emmy Awards. He is the namesake for Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resort theme parks in the United States, as well as the international resorts Tokyo Disney, Disneyland Paris, and Disneyland Hong Kong.
Disney died of lung cancer in Burbank, California, on December 15, 1966. The following year, construction began on Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. His brother Roy Disney inaugurated the Magic Kingdom on October 1, 1971.
The Walt Disney Company (NYSE: DIS) (commonly referred to as Disney) is the largest media and entertainment conglomerate in the world in terms of revenue. Founded on October 16, 1923, by brothers Walt Disney and Roy Disney as the Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio, the company was reincorporated as Walt Disney Productions in 1929. Walt Disney Productions established itself as a leader in the American animation industry before diversifying into live-action film production, television, and travel. Taking on its current name in 1986, The Walt Disney Company expanded its existing operations and also started divisions focused upon theatre, radio, publishing, and online media. In addition, it has created new divisions of the company in order to market more mature content than it typically associates with its flagship family-oriented brands.
The company is best known for the products of its film studio, the Walt Disney Motion Pictures Group, today one of the largest and best-known studios in Hollywood. Disney also owns and operates the ABC broadcast television network; cable television networks such as Disney Channel, ESPN, and ABC Family; publishing, merchandising, and theatre divisions; and owns and licenses 11 theme parks around the world. On January 23, 2006, it was announced that Disney would purchase Pixar in an all-stock transaction worth $7.4 billion. The deal was finalized on May 5. On December 31, 2009, Disney Company acquired the Marvel Entertainment, Inc. for $4.24 billion. The company has been a component of the Dow Jones Industrial Average since May 6, 1991. An early and well-known cartoon creation of the company, Mickey Mouse, is the official mascot of The Walt Disney Company.
That escalated quickly. It went from kinda cheesy and collecting kids to teach, to an actual story with stakes and heartbreak. I'm very much enjoying this, actually.
The animal chapter broke my heart, and I wish we got to see what happened with the turtles. And on that note; this books seems to be drawing a lot of inspiration from the original ARC. From the way the girls dress, to us getting to see their home life again. It's both refreshing and familiar.
Although it feels like they are doing their best to delete the last ARC. Hay Lin is back at the restaurant, not in the firefly house. U18 and Stephen haven't been mentioned once. While it's said that William is magical, we haven't seen any of the extreme stuff
Another one down. It's easy to fly through these books. No proper review, but like the previous volume in this arc, I had a lot of fun. Fortunately, this one was executed just as strongly as the previous volume, so I didn't feel like it entered sophomore slump territory.
Some thoughts I had while reading: I actually enjoyed the new characters that are being introduced to us in this arc. While I'd like to get to know some of them a little more, I feel like that will happen in time. Leah, Sun, and Luna were not bad additions at all.
This arc is a lot more consistent than the previous two arcs were. Nothing felt like it was getting lost in the plot, and there weren't any gaping plot holes this time either. Not only did the book do a good job at not losing sight of the plot, but it still had a lot of fun, unrelated moments spliced in, which gave it a good balance.
I love that we got more of Hay Lin's family history in this one, specifically regarding her mother. I was almost afraid of the turn that one was going to take, and was really pleased with how it was handled.
This one did a good job of handling important themes such as loneliness, trust, and the bonds we share with those we care most about. It was always done in a subtle manner, but that worked for what the book is.
The antagonist of this arc has definitely intrigued me. I feel like it's not surface level like the last few antagonists were, either.
Very excited to read on and find out what happens in the third volume.
This teach 2 be volume was more enjoyable than the last but I still feel that this part of the series is lacking from previous ones. I know it’s a fantasy comic but there’s something about the school and the bus that just doesn’t really work. The side stories seem to just be filling in gaps until the main story progresses and whilst they are enjoyable, they’re not as fun as previous volumes side stories because the flow within the volumes isn’t as it has previously been.
In saying all of this I really enjoyed seeing Taranee and her family get some new additions to their home. I also enjoyed Hay Lins parents story and as we got a little background information on her mums side of the family, even if it did seem to come out of nowhere.
I look forward to the next volume and hope for more flow within the story.
This volume felt more like classic W.I.T.C.H. than I've felt in a while, at least toward the end. The character interactions and growth, the tension and story building, and it's about time we saw big sister Will come out. Quite interested to see how this arc turns out.
I really enjoyed this! It's been a while since I delved into these girls' world & it felt so refreshing! The perfect escape for what I needed. Teach 2b turned into something I wasn't expecting, but in a good way!
This arc started out great - I enjoyed the introduction to new characters from Heatherfield with different magical powers, but the girls are still too trusting after all the enemies they've faced. Will allowing some random dude she's barely met to stay in her house, hardly consulting her parents about it, and refusing to listen to Matt's warnings on the matter after they've just gotten their relationship back together... how was that supposed to make sense? I think we've seen enough character growth with Will that this just feels like ten steps backward and a cheap tactic to drive the plot where Liam is concerned. Hay Lin gets a bit of a pass since he literally showed up in her house uninvited, but no one else except Matt questions where Liam came from and what his intentions are, and that seems rather ridiculous.
The girls have slowly amassing an array of magical citizens, from a girl whose lost her truth face, to a pain of twins that may have an enchanting secret - but Matt worries that Liam is planning something terrible for the team, and decides that a bit of snooping is in order...Gnone brings plenty of heart and emotion in another entry, where the pieces of this dangerous mystery are finally falling into place. Is there any connection between the magic of Heatherfield and the strange beings attacking W.I.T.C.H?
