Konoha Satou spent her teen years writing self indulgent fantasy romance fics—like her Dark History. Now, reborn as the most despicable villainess in her story, her life depends on remembering every last detail! When Satou hears whispers of beautiful women going missing in the Rose Kingdom, she doesn’t pay much attention to it—at first. After all, it’s not really an important part of the story…meaning there’s no way she could trip a death flag…right?
*Review from 2022 (Will further update once I have my notes from last night)*
Oof, the villain was really good for this volume. As previously expressed, I loved seeing the dynamic between Iana and the officer (whose name escapes me once again cause it was weird but started with a C). I'll give Sol a few points for actually seeming to rescue and care for Iana more, even though he's still questioning her to the point where I want to snap some sense into him.
(*Old review Early 2022*) I loved the plot of this manga between the distrusting cop to the blood drinking youth seeking villain. Truly an enjoyable tale.
I loved the first two volumes, but starting with this one the story becomes much darker. I understand that the title includes “Dark History,” so it couldn’t stay all sunshine and roses forever, but the early books struck a much better balance between danger, comedy, and character introspection. There are still some genuinely funny moments here, yet the overall equilibrium feels compromised, making the plot resemble many other series where a villainess must endure endless suffering and dodge countless death flags. The protagonist’s increasingly deranged inner monologue — once the highlight of the story —at times becomes so extreme that it’s hard to relate to her anymore.
I don’t dislike the ship between her and Sol, but it isn’t enough to motivate me to continue. I bought and read the first four volumes, but this darker direction just isn’t for me.
The over-the-top teenage sexual fantasies and scantily-clad (worse with every volume) girls have gotten old, but the characters are fun and I'm still interested enough in the story that I guess I'm willing to give it another volume.
I'm a fan of the Villainess trope. However, this story has its ups and downs, more downs than ups. I'll keep reading a couple of vols more, but the narrative is making me contemplate dropping this Manga is the story and character development continue the way is going.
...I...the outfits these female characters wear...Konoha is wearing barely scraps of fabric on her (very large) breasts and the Duchess looked ready for the S&M club.
