Their fate will be determined by the strength of her heart.
For the last three years, Lilah Crowne has lived isolated on a tropical island, the Consul’s pamphlets being her only remaining connection to the outside world. Though distance could not completely mute the apprehension and terror caused by powerful attacks around the globe, the destruction didn’t feel as palpable until Lilah finds her own island attacked. Then, Lilah comes face-to-face with a member of the Six, throwing her strength to fight without anima into question. Everything Lilah thought she understood about the laws of the world will be capsized as answers to long-wrestled questions stand revealed. Will she be able to put aside past grudges and work with unlikely allies to defeat the unimaginable power of the one behind the attacks, or will the world suffer the mortal consequences of her failure?
RACHAEL KROTEC grew up in the wilds of Florida, which helped cultivate her vivid imagination and a deep appreciation for the fantastical. With dual degrees in creative writing and psychology, she brings a unique perspective to her writing, delving into the depths of human emotion. She is the author of the Anima trilogy.
Foretold is the final book of the Anima trilogy, and all your lingering questions are finally answered! We jump three years in the future and find both Lilah and Caleb have grown and changed as people, reunited by a new threat. This book felt a little different to me than the other two, and I realized it's because Lilah has changed, which isn't a bad thing! Lacking anima and with a new lease on life, Lilah approaches challenges with a fresh perspective that's really nice to see in her.
As the story continues and the threats grow, the reader is taken through the eyes of several characters (including some new ones) to give a better understanding of what's happening and what has led up to it. By the end, the lingering questions I had from book one were answered and the conclusion felt very satisfying. There were a few moments or characters that seemed kind of unnecessary to the overall plot, and I didn't totally understand their significance, but it didn't detract from the book.
Ultimately I enjoyed this book and the trilogy as a whole. Rachael Krotec is an excellent writer and world-builder and I am so glad I was able to step into her world!
I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
What a stunning and content ending to the Anima Trilogy. Book two left us wondering where did Lilah go and what about Caleb! But, all is answered in this conclusion. Old friends and allies come back as well as some enemies. There is just as much action and never a dull moment in this book. The Anima Trilogy has been a joy to read and I recommend this trilogy to anyone who loves an angsty fantasy with lots of action and of course my favorite, love blooming!

Foretold is available for OUT NOW! Yay!
This series has been a passion project of mine, born from the disappointment I felt toward fantasy books at the time. Lilah is a character who grows, albeit slowly, through her challenges, and I hope readers can find solace in knowing they're not alone in their struggles such as the ones she faces. Grief, loss, pain, and even trying to find oneself can feel isolating. I needed to read about a character like Lilah, but couldn't find one, so instead I wrote her! She's a character riddled with flaws--as we all are--but she never gives up or backs down when it comes to the things that matter.
Foretold sits right on the cusp of older YA and adult, just like the books before it in the series. There is some steam in the book, but nothing I'd be embarrassed to read aloud to my mother!
