"Life is what happens while you're making other plans." ––John My true love Lizzy walked out of my life a few months ago. I'm shredded, hoping she'll come back. I need to make some big changes that includes pushing Lizzy out of my heart. I couldn't stop thinking about her––until I met a sassy girl named Alex. She changes I'm a waitress at Rocco's and met Jack last night. He's dreamy, our animal attraction is off the charts. .As soon as our eyes met, sparks flew. But can I trust him enough to share my dark secret? Several nights a week, I work at TABOO. I hate the place, and all the games they play.. My boss, Norris, keeps me chained to this joint and he's hurting me. He treats me like a commodity, which is bad enough, but I'm beginning to think The Cribs––a gang of crazy mofo's––owns this place. When Norris kidnaps me, I realize my worst fears come true. I don't know how I'm going to get out of this mess. I struggle to escape.. I pray I'll see Jack just one more time. This has to be killing him. I love him, I really do, but I worry about his safety and I know if The Cribs find out I care about Jack, they might kill him.
This book will crush you, fill you with anger, and then fill you with so much happiness and love! I caught myself reading with a big smile on my face! This is a must read!! I couldn't put it down!
Alex and Jack are such wonderful characters fighting against the horrors of their past, when they collide together in a union of opportunity and passion, I just couldn’t stop rooting for them to see this through. Very enjoyable read with lots of heat!
The Call is a dynamic story that will take readers on an exciting journey, ending with true love. This is a story of ghosting, tragedy, darkness, violence, hope, and love (with a hint of baseball). The story brings up real life dark issues and weaves them into a fictional tale of what love and respect can really accomplish; and the chemistry between Jack and Alex is explosive. I loved the real world feeling of the setting (San Francisco) the graphic emotions the story provoked in me and the tender romance that made the rough journey worth it. There were moments of laughter, sweetness, steam, and aggression that really made the story come to life. For me, this was an enjoyable, raw read. 4.25 stars.
Kathi Goldwyn has managed to pack this book full of so much that at times it seems almost overwhelming. The call is a romance, it's a gangland thriller, a story about love lost and love found, about changing careers and life-styles. The one thing it will never be is boring. Although it's not a mystery, it kept me constantly wondering what was coming next as Jack and Alex explore each other, struggle to escape their pasts. All round, it's a thoroughly enjoyable read.
This is a great dark read with lots of twist and turns. I love the intense story with lots of dark elements in it. Its written well and a great length. Can t wait for more by this author.
The Call is a vibrant story taking readers on an extraordinary journey; an intense, emotional rollercoaster ride of healing. Filled with countless twists and turns, heartbreak, darkness, suspense, passion, hope, and love; showing readers what love, and respect will accomplish, given a chance. The mixture of the real world feeling of the stories setting, and the chemistry between the characters that is explosive; provokes vivid, and raw emotions in the readers. The Call will have readers riveted in their seats until the very last page, readers just will not be able to put this book down.
Author Ms. Kathi Goldwyn is amazing author the ways that she brings her stories to life right before the reader’s eyes. Ms. Kathi has a way with words that gets readers right where it counts, their hearts; she illustrates her stories, and her readers can feel the characters emotions and pain. I cannot wait to see what is next from this multi-talented author.
The Call is an enjoyable story to read; it will devastate you, fill you with anger, and then fill the readers with so much happiness and love. Ms. Kathi knocked this book out of the park, and The Call will be returning to my to-be-read pile, well done. Both are deserving of more than 5-stars, but that it the limit.
I really like the author’s style of writing and the way she constructs a story in a way that is both engaging and moving. This is another great book that is well worth reading. The characters are fascinating, I love Alex and how smart, courageous and independent she is. I love that she’s not a damsel in distress or a stereotypical crazy wild chick. She’s a mixture of everything which makes her much more believable and likeable. I also liked the way Jack’s journey developed throughout the story. The book has many layers and lots of twists and turns to the plot along the way. There were moments that were totally unexpected and that keep the reader guessing. It is an action packed, exciting story, which also leaves you with a sense of hope after you finish reading.
The Call... WOW! What a twist and turn roller-coaster of love and suspense. When Jack's girlfriend leaves and promises to call but never did after months Jack finally breaks down and tells his brother everything at a bar they went to often. When a waitress gives him her number everything changes. Alex a waitress in a bar is in trouble and scared to tell Jack about it but when he finds out the roller-coaster race begins. Kathi Goldwyn is an amazing story teller/writer. I just couldn't put this down. I highly recommend this read.
Katie broke my heart and then put it back together again in this rollercoaster, non-stop ride that has sexy scenes, dark overtones and second chances at a new love. It has everything a reader wants in a book. Steamy sex scenes, violence, and settings that are described so perfect I felt like I was there. And all the characters are well defined and very believable. If I could give this book a10 I would but I’ll have to settle for a five.
Wowza, what a ride! I want to give this book more than 5 stars, it’s so good! This book is so well written, Kathi makes you feel like your in the book along for the ride, so hold on! And the steam level was unexpected but definitely welcome. The characters are some of the best I’ve come across. Alex is awesome! I read this book in one sitting and can’t wait to read it again!
Kathi knocked this book out of the park. There is real life drama that happens. The sex scenes are steamy from the start. There is ups and downs that rip at the heart strings, with a perfect end!! Way to go Kathi!!
Lots of twists and turns. Intense, dark, and emotional at times. Jack's story is a journey that has some tough issues being thrown at him and is written so I felt like I was right there experiencing it all with him.
This story takes you right along. You get attached to the characters. You love some and really dislike one. There are surprises through the whole story. Get so involved.
If you're looking for the following elements: * an action packed romance * an up close and personal first person by hero and the heroine POV * a strong heroine * a dangerous and sometimes dark situations * a well-written and well-edited story. you'll enjoy reading The Call.

The Call is an intense book set in San Francisco. Jack has deep wounds from a past relationship and hasn’t moved forward with his life until he meets Alex one night at a local bar. There relationship is only about sex until danger enters in and then suddenly it’s deeper and more committed. The Call has twists and turns that I didn’t expect. The pace is insane. It will keep you up late at night wanting to read to the end.

Will a new job and relationship give him back meaning to his life or bring him turmoil., A thought provoking read that exploreses his relationships with some steaming love scenes and scary adventures.
This is the first book I have read from author Kathi Goldwyn. I was overall 100% impressed. This book had just enough suspense and thrill to have you sitting at the end of your seat. The call was such an amazing book, and an emotional roller coaster jack and Alex are just so in love and just had to figure things out to make it work because I believe they are soulmates. I rate this book a 5/5 hands down. Great work author Kathi.
