He says he's my dream mate and that he was born to love me. That he came from another world, and he has trained his whole life to make my dreams come true. I thought he was a hallucination. I was wrong.
Tess
I'm a normal girl. Blond. Curvy. 5'11''. A vigilante with extra strength who punishes dudes for their crimes against the women who loved them. Yeah, maybe not so normal. But I like my life. I like editing hot guys on romance covers and drinking wine and not believing in love. Which turns out to be a problem when a man with glowing wings, a gorgeous face and a body to die for shows up, insisting that I'm the only one he could ever want.
Lorien
Dream Fae Warriors are born to please their mates, and they undergo a lifetime of preparation to make their one true love happy. And I'm the most competent warrior the Eighth realm has ever seen. Which is good, because after centuries of searching, I've finally found my dream mate. And after the lies and hurt she's lived through, it'll take everything I have to show her love. I don't care if her life is messy and the world she lives in has danger around every turn. I'll protect her from everything and anyone. Anything to make her happy. Anything to make our relationship flourish.
Anything to turn her nightmares into the sweet dreams she deserves.
Sweet Dreams is a full-length romance with action, comedy, a HAPPY ending, NO CHEATING, and twists around every corner. Contains love scenes!
Terry is the author of over forty bestselling shifter romances. She spends her spare time dreaming of dragons, playing with her pets, and watching sunsets from her home in the mountains alongside her husband (who she suspects would make a great bear shifter). She loves the wild outdoors, her fans, all readers, and getting lost in a great book.

Loved the men of the story. The women though... I struggled with (aside from Jen, high hopes for her). It's very clear early on that this book strived to highlight the importance of "woman empowerment" but the scenarios were so unrealistic. The book paints human men as complete horny/abusive monsters. This narrative dragged on so much that I found myself flipping pages just to read from Lor's pov. The women in this book outright objectify the men and use their sexuality as lures ( and somehow that's okay?)— to make it worse, Tess just uses Lorien for her own pleasure multiple times and has the audacity to tell Lor that all she wanted was sexual release. She manipulates Lor because she knows how he feels about her being his mate! It's outlandish. I'm all for good smut, and for the most part I've always rated this author's books 5☆'s across the board but this was too much. The leading female is difficult to love. She uses her past trauma as a weapon/shield as to why she is so reckless and selfish. This is the main excuse with which she uses to explain away her high risk vigilante side job. Ultimately she is a hypocrite. She drones on and on about how she needs to be this hero figure, that she is so strong, and that she doesn't believe in love so there is no point in not having meaningless fun. It's ridiculous! She has to constantly call on Lorien to save her and when he takes over the situation - because she's usually too trashed to do ANYTHING - she accuses Lor of being misogynistic. Tess isn't a queen, she's a freaking brat. I couldn't stand her.
The saving grace of the story are the men. Lor is particularly patient even when Tess doesn't deserve it. There are situations where I found that the men were obviously pandering to the whole "girls run the world" propaganda and was completely tired of the narrative. I overlooked all of that because the men were really just trying so hard to win their mates.
There was 1 scene were I had issue, and that was when the men, these strong ass warrior men, straight up start "lap dancing" on each other... seriously, I mean it. The dancing was pretty much sex with clothes on, and this was to "lure" their women 0__0
Minus that bar scene, as far as the men and the love scenes I give it a 10/10.
The women I give a 3/10. When Tess wasn't so up her own ass the story flowed well and was pretty enjoyable.
DNF at 70% I love so many books by this author, but I was sorely disappointed in this book. I felt like she was trying too hard to make a political type statement about our culture, but if I wanted to read a book about that, I would. Personally, I like to escape reality for a bit and lose myself in these romance books. I’m really not down for a woke romance genre.
The MFC, Tess, was so unlikeable that it ruined the entire book for me. Sure you had a tragic event in your childhood, but that doesn’t excuse your own behavior. She’s a hypocrite when it comes to men. She goes on and on and on about how men lie and do anything to get sex and then leave. But she does the same thing to Lorien. While I loved the men in the book, I was getting to the point where I was losing respect for Lorien for continuing to put up with her bullshit.
When I realized that I really didn’t give a shit about what happens to her, I decided that I should just cut my losses and give up. I have so many books in my to read list. I won’t be continuing with the other books in this series. Given that, I wouldn’t recommend this book. She has a lot of other good books, especially her dragon series. Try those instead.
A fantastical and slightly twisted story, the story took a while to build up, so the first half was not as fast reading as the last half. The female characters were great, fully formed, fun to read about. The men were kind of one-dimensional and thin, their focus was obsessive but still cute. There is a lot of dragging out detail and repeating past traumas and insecurities and I swear a quarter of the book could have been cut and it would still have left a good story.
This was 100% delightful. The author caught onto some elements I really enjoy, like strong female heroes, like men who are allowed to hang and cavort and be physically affectionate to other men like women are without toxic masculinity mucking things up.
I loved the notion of what earth might look like without rape, where women could walk at night without fear making us situationally aware. But I further appreciated the author's glimpse into a female dominated realm...it wasn't perfect either (but it was better, just sayin). Clearly a balance of all genders is ideal and maybe there isn't such a place, but striving for it matters. ♡
I'm going to devour this trilogy and then maybe explore more of this author.
Lor isn't quite the alpha I expected. He's better. He wants to love, and care for Tess, a strong woman who, almost like a vigilante, goes out at night to defend women from abusive men. They have their ups and downs but they both come to understand each other and have their HEA.
Not quite anything as good as a book with a happy ever after. This book is about Fae Princesses, and their true loves. In a dream world called the dream realm young Fae warriors seem to find this true love mates. They never dreamed that their true loves were in the human world. Loved every word!!!! True deep love is worth finding. Very well worth reading!
I just adore the Dream Fae. Their Dream Realm is also so dreamily beautiful, I'd love to visit there. This is very sweet and passionate paranormal love story. I loved it! I'd very much like to read more about Fae, also about the enigmatic Josh. Highly recommended!
I just loved this story, the characters are wonderfully written and the storyline was very descriptive. I am looking forward to the next book in the series!
It seemed awkward to me; off kilter and confusing. Tess was too, ...too much everything. I couldn't like her. And even with the violence done by the fae, they still seemed namby pamby, and I was not feeling them to much either....I think I will skip this series , but most assuredly will continue to read her other series and other new releases.
I have read all the books except the paired Dragons, I read one of them and really didn't like it. I Loved the Dragon series with the strong characters and story lines of action and bravery and love for their mates. Unfortunately, the fae in this book is totally different from the previous fae books. There was fun and laughter in the way they learned how to adapt to human females and still have masculinity and respect. This book makes the fae soppy, childish and simpering. The men dancing together!!... Made them look Gay instead of them looking masculine and strong. This just made the female the strongest character with a backbone. Sorry, very disappointed.
This is a good start to the Rogue Dream Fae series. I enjoyed the Wings, Wands, and Soul Bonds Fae romance series, so I was pleased to find that Terry had another Fae romance series. I have liked all of Terry's series, but it is nice to have books about Fae, whose powers are very different from dragons/shifters. These "Dream Fae" are all likable in their own way, and it is fun to see them try to adapt to and understand human culture.
This book is about Lorien, and his attempts to develop a soul bond with Tess. Tess was damaged by her sad past, but I loved that she used her strength to fight evil. It was sad when Lorien didn't understand Tess' resistance to him, but sweet that he still didn't give up. I loved it when she finally started to see who he really was, and was touched by his complete acceptance of her and her past.
I won't give spoilers, but I had a little trouble with what happens to Lorien near the end. I liked the resolution of it, but it really made me NOT like the rules on the Dream Fae world very much. What they did to Lorien was terrible.
This one gets 4 stars from me. I enjoyed it, and recommend it to anyone who likes paranormal romances.
My rating system is below. 1 star -- Hated it, or did not finish. I usually only give this rating if some of the content is truly objectionable to me, like if one of the main characters does something really awful, and gets away with it. 2 stars -- Didn't like it. This rating usually means that I thought the writing wasn't very good, the editing was terrible, I didn't like the characters, or it had other major flaws. 3 stars -- I liked it, but had some minor issues with it. This rating means that there were minor editing issues, the story needed more character development, it was just too unrealistic, or had some other fairly minor issue. The majority of books I read get this rating – I do not consider it a bad rating. 4 stars -- I liked it a lot. This is a high rating for me, and I rarely give a higher one. 5 stars -- I loved it, and will probably read it again. Very few books are good enough to get this rating from me. The ones that do are usually classics.
The Dream Fae men are very different from what we are used to seeing. Most shifter romances make the males strong Alphas and the women needing to be rescued. But this time, the woman is very strong and the male just wants to love her. It also showcases that perfection is not always what it seems. Lorien finally finds his dream mate after a thousand years. Tess is in the human world and finds it hard to believe that this beautiful man may love her and only her. So much has happened to make her doubt that. Lorien is very tender, but strong also. It took a while to see his strength, as he wasn't flaunting it.
The pace is very fast and the tone is uncertain yet hopeful with a character oriented storyline that has some steamy scenes and some action. And that action is not always what you expect! The characters are vivid.
This is the first in a new series, but I think that you would get more from this story if you at least read the Wings, Wands and Soul Bonds series as well as the Reclaimed Dragons series before this. If you like that you can go back and read all the series set in this world. If you don't mind twisting things up a bit, you can start with the Double Dragons series and then the Tiger Protectors series both in box sets. If you like just one on one, then start with the Awakened Dragons box set, Rent-a-Dragon box set, Date-a-Dragon box set, Awakened Sea Dragons box set, Dragon Guard of Drakkaris box set, then the rest have to be bought separately: Nightmare Dragons series, Frozen Dragons series, Club Crimson series, Bad Dragons series, Forgotten Dragons series and then Wings, Wands and Soul Bonds series and Reclaimed Dragons series with this one being the latest. I enjoy all of Terry Bolryder's stories, the fae ones are different and are harder for me to get into, but I like them all the same. I love all kinds of shifter romances, and this world is very cool. I look forward to reading the new stories set here very much! Enjoy!
I enjoyed the first book of this new series where we get the stories of the Dream Fae. Lorien has been searching for his mate for a thousand years. He saw her face in a dream just as he was supposed to, but neither he nor his two best friends were able to locate their mates in the Dream world. No one believes that they actually saw the women they are supposed to find and commit to. They are shocked when they learn that their loved ones are actually in the human world. Now they just have to figure out how to convince these women, who think they are human, that they are their dream mates and the only ones who will ever complete them.
Tess has had a hard life and now she spends her spare time making men pay for the heartbreak that they wrought on women. The women write of their experiences and Tess does the hunting down of the miscreants. She then finagles a date with them through a dating app and proceeds to take them down. If they caused financial losses, she attempts to recoup those and a little payment for herself. Her two best friends have had no luck in convincing her to stop her crusade.
When comes to Tess to introduce himself as her dream mate, he is surprised that she does not even know what that means. She thinks she is hallucinating and tells him to go and leave her alone. He tells her if she ever needs him to just call his name and he will be there for her. When she gets herself into trouble on a "date" she surprises herself by calling for him. He appears with his two friends and "poofs" the group of men accosting her away. Now she has three unbelievably gorgeous men in her apartment and has no idea what to do. She cannot believe the things they say and the things they can do. She calls up her besties to come and give her some advice.
I am not going to tell you what happens, but the the course of dream mate love does not run smoothly. It will take a lot for Lorien to convince Tess to give love a chance, and if he fails he will lose her forever.
I was given an advanced copy of this book by the author. My review is voluntary.
Sweet Dreams is the first book in Terry Bolryder’s new Rogue Dream Fae Series. It is a full length paranormal shifter romance that is written in first person, from the point of views of both the hero and heroine. This is a fun read, with great characters, a happily ever after and no cliff hangers.
Tess doesn’t believe in love, even if she does design and create romance book covers. But she does believe in using her extra strength for punishing men for their crimes against women. Lorien has been searching for his dream mate and soul bond for over a thousand years and when he finds her he will do whatever he can to prove that love does conquer all.
But Lorien has his work cutout for him because nightmares have been a part of Tess’ life for far to long. Will Tess be able to see past the darkness to the her bright future with Lorien, or will she let love pass her by? Read it and find out!
This book was interesting and well written. It’s full length allowed the reader to be deeply drawn into Bolryder’s newly created Dream Fae world. I am enjoying the first person point of view that the author used as it helps create the details and perspective needed for introducing a new Fae infused world. I can’t wait to read more about the other Rogue Fae and explore this new world.
This is a voluntary review of a reader’s advance copy.
A wonderful read that I thoroughly enjoyed, great start to a new series This was a wonderful start to a new series by Terry Bolryder and I had been waiting for a new title to read, I was not disappointed. This book is all about the Fae and is a beautiful read, Lorien is a Dream Fae and in is looking for his mate. When he sees her but has no idea where to find her, he knows that he will search for her until the day he finds her, it takes over a thousand years. She is not at all as he expected Tess was a graphic designer and when she is on a date, she sees a man who she believes was simply part of an hallucination. However, when he appears again, she believes that she may be losing her mind. There is just something about this man and she begins to feel differently about the things she has seen and this also alters her perspective. This was a wonderful read and I must say that once I started reading it was impossible to put the book down until I reached the end. I voluntarily received and review an Advanced Reader Copy I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the great writing.
She's a bit of an Amazon using her strength and skills to punish men for their treatment of women. Love is not in her mind or vocabulary. She punishes those who take advantage or hurt women. She and her two buddies know what she does but no one else--at least no one else did until...
Lorien has trained in the Fae Realm until he finds his true love bond but when he's supposed to find her in his homeworld she isn't there. He refuses to give up hunting. Then it happens. He finds her in his dream world at the same time she is seeing him in her dreams. He wants nothing more than to find her and show her his love so they can bond together. But love is not on her agenda. His work is cut out for him. Will he succeed?
The story is sweet, horrific, loving, painful, funny, and so many more emotions the reader will share with this couple and their friends. I am thrilled with this new series, a little more in-depth than some of the author's previous works. Loved reading this one and am anxious for the rest of the series.
Lorien reminded me of a video I've been seeing about a rottweiler who absolutely adores his person and just looks like the sweetest puppy but you know he would fight to the death to protect his person. Lorien's person is Tess, his dream mate/ soul bond. While standalone, some of Terry Bolryder's lore is introduced in the prior books/series and I really have enjoyed those books as well so they are definitely worth a read.
I kind of went between 4 and 5 stars for this book. The major reason why is because of Tess- she was hot and cold and it was a little exhausting by the end (she's very much against love). Lorien and his two fae friends who are in search of their dream mates were adorable and hilarious but their naive thoughts were also a little exhausting. And for most of the book, the human world looked pretty bad! (think men being awful, hurting people, etc) But I actually liked how she carried through the message in the end. Overall, a fun read and I really look forward to the next book in large part because I adored the fae men.
Lorien is a dream fae, a King in his world, which is unusual, in as much as the dream fae world is ruled by Princesses and Queens. He has spent a thousand years searching for his dream mate! We briefly met Lorien in the previous Fae series he is Leander's older brother. He and his friends have promised the Oracle that they will follow the rules, whilst in the human dimension! Tess is a strong woman, badly damaged in her past and has been left unable to trust men or believe in love. During the day she works as a graphic designer at night she is a vigilante, righting the wrongs that women have suffered at the hands of men! This is another very enjoyable book by Terry Bolryder, I couldn't put it down! It's a good HEA, feel good paranormal romance, with an enjoyable storyline. In my opinion well worth a read. The Rogue Dream Fae series promises to be a great escape from our current himan reality!
I have to say that after reading Dragon Reformed and being introduced to the Dream Fae, this was not the story I was expecting.
I was expecting the big, bad, dominant Fae like the guys in Wings, Wands, and Soul Bonds but the Dream Fae are so sweet, charming, and totally overprotective of their dream mates. These guys are not marshmallows, they are warriors, but the testosterone does not overrule their training. Tess is actually a warrior in her own right and even though she has been hurt so much in the past and thinks love is just a fairy tale, she is strong enough to carry on and help those who have been hurt themselves. As in Wings, Wand, and Sole Bonds, secrets are revealed about the Dream Fae. Tess' quest is epic and I loved the author gave us such an intriguing conclusion.
My burning question - What's with the Fae and Pizza? Just curious, I love the stuff.
I love Terry's books. Dragons, Fae, Lions, Tigers, Bears. They are all great stories and well worth reading.
Simple and sweet. A traumatized young woman fighting back and taking revenge against abusive males meets an innocent dream fae who claims to be her dream mate. She rebukes him several times before she begins to believe his story the essence of love is discussed in this tale. What is trust, belief, sincerity and who deserves it. In this story love is a physical power that overcomes adversity and conquers all. It is a fast feel good read that is pro feminism but also questions inequality, whether men or women lead society, suggesting that equality and partnerships are preferable to one sex ruling over another. The relationship between the three fairies Lorien, Reva, and Jerrek is funny and sweet as is the females Jen, Sandra and Tessa. Certain questions are left open at he end of, this book that will be answered in the other two. Looking forward to reading them.
The writing started out strong, great female protagonist all the way throughout but....the fact the fae men are just too emotionally feminine and start out immediately deeply in love without a build up is unfortunately a let down for me.
Add on to the weak feeling men, the over zealous preachy feel about how men on this earth are the bringers of all that is wrong and evil just made it feel too much of a feminist man hating book to me. It felt too much of a first romance ever written by a teenager book, every 14 year girls dream of what love should be book.
I prefer a book with each person involved having doubts, desires, the back and forth to finally finding love. The premise was solid for the different worlds, Tess was strong..just blah feminine men.
Once again Terry has taken us to the lives of the Fae This time we are in the world of the dream Fae Men trained from birth to find their one true love and to be everything that they desire (sounds like a dream come true doesn't it)
Lorien is one of those fae he has been searching for his mate for centuries and while he is by far the most proficient of the dream warriors he has had no success in finding her That is until he comes to earth and promises the oracle he and his friends will obey the laws That puts him in the path of Tess a very damaged human woman She was almost destroyed by a past love and this has shaped her into the vigilante she ahs become Can Lorien break through her walls and teach her that love doesn't have to hurt You will have to read to see
I wish I could just let loose and tell you everything about this book by Terry Bolryder. It is such a fantastic read, I didn't want to put it down. I loved Lorien, he was so gentle and tender with Tess. But when he needed to be strong and protective, he could easily bring that side of himself to the surface and handle any threats. Tess was a little harder to understand her demeanor. But part way through the book I began to really understand her and I grew to like her. Just not as much as Lorien. I am thrilled to recommend this book. I hope more readers take the time to enjoy this wonderful reading experience. Remember if you want to read a book you can't put down, you have to pick it up first.
This is the start of a new series. If you have read books by this author before you know the series will be a real page turner. This book follows the relationship between Lorien and Tess. Lorien is a Fae who is Tess’s true mate but she doesn’t no that. As they get to know each other you will be absolutely hooked from the first page. Its full of drama action suspense and romance with some light hearted scenes that round off the hole book nicely. Chemistry and interaction between the characters is outstanding. Can’t wait for more of this series. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
Lorien is a dream fae come to Tess's world to claim his dream mate. He's searched a thousand years and has finally found his mate in her. But Tess is a survivor of men's violent nature and just because Lorien says he will love and protect her "forever" how can she put her heart and soul into the arms of this man/fae? This is an intense story of tragedy, fighting against all odds, each having close friends from both sides of this relationship, saving a soul, and getting a much-deserved HEA. I liked all these new characters and even liked the acts of justified revenge called for. Tess didn't earn the name "Vigilante of Love" for nothing. I did get an ARC from the author.
We met Lorien in the last fae series. He is a dream fae. Him and his two best friends are searching for their "dream mates". Tess is on earth and is stronger than most people so she knows that she may be something supernatural. When she first sees Lorien she believes that she is hallucinating. He tries to get her to trust him without forcing the issue. But she has a past experience that influences everything she believes and does. You don't have to read the previous serious because the dream fae have different rules and terms that the others. I believe that you will enjoy this new series as much as I did.
In the beginning of the storyline I was having a hard time connecting to it. But I love reading Terry Booth set's other books so I kept going on. The storyline didn't really talk about the other worlds much, just hinted. Tests is a human woman who finds out that her dream man is more than a dream. He is Lorien king of the eighth Far world and she is his queen. But he has to convince her that he does really exist. In the mean time he is a sweet man to her but let someone else hurt her he goes ballistic. Can she rap her head around the thought that he is real and just wants her to love?
Lorien is a dream fae and is searching for his dream mate. But when him and his friends find their mates, but no connection to where they are....they are baffled😕 Suffice to say, this takes them out of their realm and they search for years until Lorien finally finds her.....Tess🥰
An amazing story which sucked me in especially with all the new elements of this dream fae realm and I’m super excited about this series...I can’t wait to see what happens next❣️
I received an advanced copy and I voluntarily leave my honest review ❤️
This book really hit the spot. It amazes me that time and time again Terry Bolryder writes a story that is just what I need. I love the mix of the sweet dreams of the love story and the gritty reality that tries to make the dream into a nightmare and how the characters fight for their love. Add quirky Fae to the mix and I'm hooked. Tess and Lorian realize that their fated love can exist even when they and their worlds are flawed. This was a great start for the Rogue Dream Fae series and I am looking forward to the next installments.
Absolutely loved the start of this new series! Tess and Lorien were so awesome! Lorien has searched for his dream mate for a thousand years while Tess doesn’t know anything about the fae and has been through so much in life and has problems believing in love or anything Lorien has to say. I felt so sad for them both at times! This story had action, drama, and funny moments! I love Terry’s writing and her stories are great whether they’re about dragons, lions, wolves, fae or anything else. They always are just awesome! Highly recommend. Received arc and am voluntarily leaving an honest review
