They rule with a cold-steel heart and an iron fist. But these technological terrors haven't reckoned with the revenge brewing in one man's soul.
Harkly Colson has only a tenuous grasp on his humanity. Living off the grid after the war with the machines cost him his family, the grizzled veteran clings to his few pleasant memories of the time before mechanized oppression. But when a rare trip into town goes sideways and a female cyborg shows up near his home, he fears the ruthless rulers have sent an assassin in judgment.
Discovering the girl is an escapee from an experimental facility, Hark takes her in and tries to nurture her human side. But with computerized killers seeking them both, rescuing the young hybrid may prove to be a fatal mistake.
Will Hark's last chance for redemption come with a lethal price?
Rogue is the first book in the gripping Extinction Protocol post-apocalyptic science fiction series. If you like futuristic combat, determined fugitives, and rising up against the state, then you'll love Marc Landau's dark vision.
Purchased this edition on February 2, 2021, from Amazon for free. EOTWAWKI. Under the thumb of powerful mind control a man happens across a powerful girl.
Not a story that I would normally read. This book might be more interesting to someone that is into a disconnected world full of unbelievable gigantic machines. Machines that were originally designed by HUs (humans) but who learned to build larger components with more artificial intelligence than HUs had ever envisioned.
Interesting premise. While dystopian is not my regular genre this book kept me reading. While I do not believe in reiterating a plot, spoiling it for readers, this storyline is logical and the characters defined, as is the world of ruling machines the author has created. I look forward to the next book in the series. I received an ARC and this is my honest evaluation of this book.
I enjoyed reading this book. The words were like the. Bite of a crisp apple The words were complex enough to make my mind run forward through the wildernesses to discover what came next
Interesting premise, though somewhat predictable. The Biggest flaw IMHO was that it did not resolve all the major issues and used a bad cliff hanging end to entice you to buy the next book in the series.
Recommend to anyone who is into end of the world and technology taking over humans. Humans rebelling for their humanity. Easy flowing, some action, hard to put down.
Felt like a prequel to the story with an introduction of the main characters. Was going to continue the series to see whether there’s more to the characters but having read the reviews on the next books, I have decided to give it up (the series seems to lack proper ending)
robotic machines rule the earth. Humans are allowed to live because the robots still need them. But a young girl escapes, demonstrating remarkable abilities
I enjoyed this book, I wasn't sure but it turned out to be a well balanced book of sci-fi, war and humanistic behaviors. Can't wait to read the next one.
I thought the plot was fine. The author was able to blend the two separate storylines together very well, while not sacrificing the tension in either plot. The story itself is short, so events happen rather quickly, but that makes the story an easy read. The world is a pretty standard post-apocalypse, which doesn’t require too much world-building for the reader to keep track of, while also making the stakes of the narrative clear early on. The characters didn’t particularly stand out to me.
