A telepath with a lethal twist.

My name is Neely and I live among shapeshifters in the desert truckstop town of Sundance, California. As a wolf shifter, I'm not much of a threat. But as a telepath-spiker, I'm deadly.

For six months, life has been peaceful. Business at my panaderia is holding steady, alpha leader Lucas Blacke and I are in a devoted relationship, and the kidnapping attempts have slowed to a crawl. I'm finally part of something bigger than myself—the Blacke shifter group. I haven't exactly come to terms with my wolf shifter side, but I'm getting there.

When a dangerous group from my past makes an unexpected appearance in Sundance, I know my hard-won peace is coming to an end. The malicious shifter faction I fought against in Texas has spent the last few months planning a rebellion. They're gearing up for war with paranormals and humans alike, and they're bringing the first battle to Sundance.

It's kill or be killed, and we're not going down without a fight.

For readers who enjoy urban fantasy with a side order of romance, fast-paced action, and a dash of humor.

I still love this series but Neely still frustrates me as a character - she’s still wilfully ignorant even though she’s seen time and time again how that leaves herself and those she cares about vulnerable, and she runs rather than having open conversations. On the one hand, I like that there’s books where the ‘heroine’ has flaws, but I keep waiting for her to grow and develop as a character and it doesn’t really ever happen. And I’m not sure how much relationship growth there really has been either.

So good!

This book was just what I needed today. I have loved following Neely and her (not so nice) adventures as she comes to terms with not only her own abilities, but her attraction to Lucas and dealing with the other paranormals in Sundance. This brought all of that together as Neely now has to integrate with her wolf, and figure out how to complete the bonds with Lucas and the pack.

Unfortunately the Legion are now bringing the fight to Neely once again, only this time there is nowhere to run. Had a few surprise visitors, and got to understand more about the inner workings of Neely’s mind. There was a lot of action and a great fight scene to wrap this up. Can’t wait for the next book.

‘Shifted’ is book five in C.P. Rider’s The Sundance series. Previous books in series are recommended to be read prior to this.

Now a pat of the group, Neely is still struggling to be a part of the Paranormal world. Though things have been quiet since Texas, Lucas, Chandra, and the Blacke Group are preparing for the next attack.

I have to admit I’m still not a fan of Neely, she is still very naive, she keeps pushing everyone away especially Lucas. She keeps coming back to having trust issues, but not once has Lucas ever given her reason to not to trust him. It wasn’t until the end portion of the book, that I didn’t mind Neely’s character. She had some major group after a series verbal butt whopping, plus a major threat helped.

The relationship between Neely and Lucas was a great distraction from Neely’s personality. Lucas is seriously the show runner in this book, he is quirky, flirty, hilarious and all round purrfect. But I do have to admit I didn’t find him to be as dominant as the previous books. It seemed that he became more childish than alpha. Not saying that his childish, playful and comical behaviour wasn’t great to read. It’s just he didn’t seem assure and confident of himself like in the previous books.

So much happens in this book that it’s hard to choose we’re to start. So I’m just going to say this, if you want a quick, enjoyable, heart racing, unpredictable, nail biting experience, give this series a go. If you are unsure wether to read this book after reading the others, than stop being silly and pick this up and read it. We get a lot of answers, meet new faces, and have issues and matters resolved.

This book seemed to unwind slowly, taking its time saying goodbye. We get a glimpse of all the characters we love and hate and how much work did this author put in to the theories in this book??

From the shapeshifters to the prehistoric to DIRE wolves. From the witches and sigils and mages. From the spikers to sleepers to trancers. Wow- so much stuff to imagine and figure out and have it all make sense. Kudos.

Neely and Lucas- the King and Queen of sarcasm, love it. Neely drove me crazy with her risk taking and why the hell did she not embrace being a shifter sooner? Healing, epic strength and calorie burning extraordinaire, why wait for that to happen? I would have been all over that.

She showed some inner strength right off the bat in this book, with probably my favorite quote for her EVER- "Fuck off," I said, unsmiling. "In fact, fuck all the way out the front door, down the sidewalk, and back under whatever rock you crawled out from under. I don't know who sent you, I don't know what you want, but … Fuck. Right. Off."

I would have had many more highlights but I lost Wifi somewhere in the middle of the book :(
It was nice to have a Lucas POV at the beginning- I really love being in his mind.

That final scene with Lucas human-proposing? Sweet and fitting to the story line.
"I love every single part of you, Lucas Blacke. Even the parts I hate."

I will miss Lestat, the snark, the people that make up the group. Great series!

"Shifted" is another great installment in the Sundance series. This read was epic because there is a major showdown in town between Luca's pack and Elias/Elijah and his people.

Neeley has struggle with shifting; however, she and her wolf will have to come to an understanding when her pack is on the line. Additionally, her pack has not gotten stronger since she joined and it is because she refuses to trust her packmates. She has to overcome a lot if she is to be the mate that Lucas needs.

Alika is new to the pack although she really isn't a pack member. She is a sleeper and has the ability to put people to sleep, coma or kill them in their sleep. She is unhappy that she has been used by Elijah but wants to find a way to help Luca's pack.

We also get to meet Luca's grandmother, Luciana. Boy, is she a hoot. She is a spry 93 and seems to get along quite nicely with the witches. Image that. Lucas want to make his relationship with Neeley permanent but she has trouble with the execution of the proposal. Of course she loves him but she wants him to go all the way.

There was a lot going on in this read. Additionally, there was plenty of action, subterfuge and romance. There is so much to recommend this series and it just continues to get better. I truly hope that Luciana continues to be a part of this plot.

I think I’m devastated, this series is over!
What a great final book.
Neely is slowly getting used to her wolf although she hasn’t shifted again. She and Lucas are talking marriage although Lucas hasn’t really got the hang of proposals and the “human marriage” idea. Their discussions about it are priceless.
Unfortunately, the Legion is still hanging around. Chandra is seriously injured by a dire wolf, everyone but Neely thinks it’s Gil and she is asked to spike him. While figuring that out, they are getting ready for war. When a group of Legion members show up with plans to blow up the gas station, things really start to get interesting.
There is a huge amount of action, shifters and primal shifters, Neely getting actually fully joined with the group, Lucinda, Lucas’s grandmother and the witches get along wonderfully, such great characters and interactions and of course some humour.
There is so much happening and it all works, even though stuff is happening all over it melds together perfectly.
I’m sad that the series has ended but it couldn’t end any better. I’m sure there could be more books with the main characters and I would read them quickly but this definitely worked for me.
Again, this is a series that I will reread and highly recommend.

I’m your Huckleberry

Amazing! Add Tombstone quotes and it’s beyond!
This time it’s a huge adversary who is hell bent on collecting Neely. He’s gone to great lengths to acquire her and has no qualms with “by any means necessary.” He is set on world domination and Neely is a piece of his plan.
Neely is fresh off the heels of learning what she is and about her mom. She’s also met her wolf. She is coming to terms with being a crossbreed. She’s also navigating being apart of her lovers pack and being the alphas woman. She’s realizing that what she thinks and how she feels impacts the pack. Trust, and loyalty is something she has to feel and show, but she doesn’t want to lean on the pack.

So much going on in this book with the danger.l, emotions and revelations. Neely is always in her head about something and Lucas is always there to put her mind at ease. He’s her huckleberry.
Exceptional read!

I remember loving the first book a lot.
Unfortunately, it kind of went downhill from there and now it just feels like this series lost me half way though.
Besides all the mindfuckery I really dislike, the main character, her reactions and inner dialogue, got less and less likable for some reason. And more and more annoying.
I also really didn't feel the way her shifter nature was described, with their 'animals' moving around in some weird shared headspace... The description of it all and them constantly referring to 'my wolf' 'my human' didn't make much space.
The final epic battle also didn't make much sense. I felt it was convoluted and not really satisfying.
Idk, to be honest I just was too annoyed by the main character and wanted to skip over most of this book to the happy end.

Shifted - C.P. Rider 29-Mar - 3.5stars
Wrapping this series called for new powerful player, an unnecessary cameo, more ‘foot-stomping’ and a worthy revisit from a horrifying adversary in Elijah/Legion who’s layered determination to dominate all paranormals by any means necessary. The question is can selfish, juvenile, whiny Neely at least accidently learn adulting while stumbling into a job that saves the day? This outing also could prove to be much too challenging.

Fantastic♥️✨

I loved everything about this book and the serie. Original setting (desert of Texas), original type of supernaturals and shifters, a realistic FMC and her hot and unnerving mate, bakery, and crazy witches.
I found that Neely, the FMC, was particularly well described. It was easy to understand her way of thinking and why she had so many uncertainties. This helped understanding the unique dynamic they had Lucas and her, a mix of deep and unconditionnal love and insecurities, arguments, and trust issues. But at the end, they had their HEA of course!♥️
It was a pleasure reading this serie and I will read it again in the future for sure!

The book checks a lot of boxes, flawed characters that grow together, poc lead and LGBTQIA representation, just effortless inclusion both human and non human. Strong female characters and strong female friendships.
I love reading the books, the characters and the growth of the characters and the progression from one story to another...
However as individual plots go, each book is very similar xyz group wants to add Neely for ABC reason, they either kidnap her and succeed and she needs to be rescued in a showdown or they fail and there is a showdown.
I still enjoy the characters a lot though.

Love this series in general and this didn't disappoint. It closed off a major storyline in a satisfying way as well as continuing to develop the characters and relationships. I love Lucas and Neely, they both feel like real people with foibles, vulnerabilities and frustrations. The bad guy was scary, there were a couple characters that were suspicious and plenty of lighthearted moments amongst it all.

This book should not be read as a standalone but the series is fantastic so get on it.

So sad this series has wrapped up!

I think the author really found her groove writing two likable characters in an honest, realistic relationship. Just in time for the series to close, argh. And that’s on top of the very excellent plot and action that’s been prevalent throughout the entire series. I don’t often write reviews but having read so much mediocre paranormal and fantasy fodder on Kindle Unlimited, C.P. Rider stands out.

Loved this book.

Well, guess the series is over. Soooo sad😑. What a massive amount of action. This author is great. The story is so well written and you don't know how much time has passed until you look up and find it is one or later in the morning. Characters that sync so well with each other and a whole cast of characters that bring so much to the story. Well done!!!

Loved this series!

Read the whole series in 3 days. Loved the interaction of the main characters! Wish I could find a relationship like it. Well written and fast paced. Adult themed but didn't cross the line into predictable porn like so many books do. Looking forward to more books!

Another Fantastic Book

I'm not sure if this is paranormal or fantasy or a mix. But I loved the story. I already loved the characters from the previous books in the series. I hope there are more coming in the future.

Excellent conclusion

This book is the end of the Neely arc with a rockem, sockem epic battle between what is basically a fight between good and evil. It's an excellent read. You should enjoy it..

Funny action packed series

Neely and Lucas are planning a future together. However, the Legion is out to kill the Black group and take Neely prisoner. As always, the band of misfits have fun but in the end they have the biggest fight of their lives.

Great ending

Loved this series. Keeps you engaged and wanting more throughout. Neely did annoy me at times when she continually refused to acknowledge she was a queen of spike and fur. Lucas definitely has a lot more patience than I would have. Loved it.

A very pleasant surprise of a series.

The Sundance series ends with a bang. The civil war brought on by Elijah comes to Sundance and Neely is all that is needed to win the war. Provided she can learn to control her power. What a fantastic series.

I read it in one sitting

Barring breaks for coffee and the results of drinking coffee, I sat down and read it straight through. An amazing conclusion. (If it is! There's still bad guys out there)

The whole series gets a 15/10!

So Neely finally manages to come to terms with herself and her love for Lucas, whilst the Legion are causing utter chaos and havoc, but it all comes down to a massive confrontation that she and Lucas have lead the group through and come together properly and boy do they. Very satisfying.
