4.5 stars Primal Play at its finest
I knew, based on book1, that we would get some primal play going on, but I was not ready for what we got 👀.
Luca’s (400+) been waiting for his mate for a REALLY long time, so long that he’s almost going feral. He’s kind of jealous of his brother (book 1’s H) because he found his mate, so when he scents his actual mate at his brother’s mating ceremony, he can’t but go after what’s his 😅.
Ainslee (20) has grown up in a close family. Her dad’s a Lycan and her mom’s a vampire, so she’s a mix of both. Neither of these have dominated her yet. When she feels a jolt of something at Ren and Mika’s mating ceremony, she can’t help but be enthralled by Luca.
And that’s when her dad and brothers basically say fffff that and take her away as fast as they can.
What they didn’t count on is how determined and passionate Luca is about being with his mate.
They can try running, but they won’t be able to hide 😈
What I liked/loved:
—the audiobook is duet narration 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻. All the audiobooks in this series are 😉
—how protective they all are. This was suuuuuper sweet. Yes, Ainslee’s parents, brothers, and even her uncle Adryan are protective, but Luca… oh Luca takes the cake on it… he’ll risk his life for her 😭🥹❤️ annnnnd… we get…
—Ainslee being EQUALLY protective of Luca as well. In fact, the way her protectiveness manifests was 😱 but also bad a$$ 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻. Don’t you worry Luca… Ainslee’s got you 💅
—the 🔥. Ummm. Duh. This is Jenika Snow here. We got some good smuuuuut 😮💨 it’s not as slow burn as other books by her. By about 33%, we get some 🔥 against a poor, innocent tree 😅, some more 🔥 action in the high 50% and then it all comes to fruition by 63% 🔥
—the cereal eating. Ummm… yes, Luca loves a heart meal 😉. Who’s gonna fault him for eating heartedly 🤷🏻♀️. This man will stop breathing as long as she feels 🥵. Plus. He loves her taste 😮💨. I love me man that’s willing to risk his life for his woman 💦
—how much he prepares her🔥. Yeah. He needs to make sure she’s R E A D Y 👀👏🏻
—he calls her îngeraș which means Angel 🥹
—he not only bathes/showers her, but he feeds her 😭
—I can’t forget the diiiirty talk 🥵. Duhhhh 😉
—the primal play 👀. This is self explanatory 🔥. I love me some good chasing scenes and these were PERFECT 😉

Book 2 in this series of Shifters it was steamy and aloy of action!!
We saw a snip of Luca and Ainslee in the last book and now it's there turn watching Ainslee family take away his mate he is even more Savage. Scenting and finding her has Luca in the woods waiting to get his mate. But Ainslee family is messing up the law of their world, idk if it was because he was wild or because she was "daughter/younger sister" to them but they fudge up keeping keeping Luca from his woman. Lots of drama and other family member drama..
The thing I was meh with the different pov I'm okay with MC POV but we had more POV and i didn't enjoy that. We got more snips of future couple.. for the next book.
No ow/om drama, Drama, Slight secondary character, sexy times, virgin gal and idk if virgin H?

On the flame scale this one finished strong. On the storyline scale it was a little meh.
Both FMC and MC were predictable. The storyline as well was predictable. I like a little shock here or there but this one is pretty basic.
The hook ups are pretty hot so that gave it a little boost on my rating scale.

Oh my goodness! Luca has a mate!
If you read book one, you know that Luca has been torturing himself for many many years because he was mateless and so so depressed and lonely and he was turning more lycan than human and people thought of him as a feral beast..
We meet Ainslee and her very close knit family that consist of her mother, father and brothers. She is a lycan and vampire hybrid. They are a very close family who are very protective over the females.
At a gathering, it was quickly realized that Ainslee and Luca were mates. That did not sit well with Ainslee’s family. There was no way they were going to allow their precious daughter/sister be mates to a feral beast like Luca.
Her family quickly whisked her off which devastates Luca and he is absolutely determined to get his mate back. After all he’s been waiting for hundreds of years.
Ainslee knew in her heart that she would be the only one that can get to Luca and tame his Lycan. It did not take too long for the two to sneak and come together. And run away together, leaving her family behind.
“Gods, just thinking about her fangs embedded in my neck as she drew from me had my dick so hard it throbbed. I felt the front of my slacks become wet from the constant flow of pre-cum at the tip.“
With being faded mates, there was instant attraction and some really steamy moments. Luca would literally do anything for his mate. Would never let a single tear run down her face or a moment of sadness. He’s literally so swoon worthy.
But love isn’t enough sometimes. Her family desperately wants to get them apart. And it is a race to find peace within the two families.
It was not without bloodshed.
“And I knew that’s what Luca was to me. A home. My home.“
This is probably my favorite book so far. There are definite moments in the book between one of Ainslee’s brothers and a brand new character that tells me that they will be the next couple to have their own book. But I think book 2 is my absolute favorite so far.

This book was absolutely amazing. I finished it in a few hours. And it has a definite HEA.
It also has a slight introduction to the next characters for the next book that’s coming out in a few months which I thought was really cool for the author to do!

With every book I read in Jenika's Lycan series I get more obsessed with the world she has created with her Lycans and Vampires.
I've been reading this series a little out of order so when I finally got to book one and met Luca, I knew his story was going to be unlike any of the others. For over 4o0 years Luca has been without his mate. Roaming the world all alone just waiting for the day when he would meet her. This has made Luca start to become more beast than man and if he doesn't find his mate soon there is a real chance, he will be lost to his beast forever.
Everyone has heard stories about Luca and the insanity he possesses. They are all on guard around him. They protect their females even more than usual in fear that he will finally snap. On the night of his brother's wedding reception Luca recognizes his mate instantly. Before he can even speak to her his mate's family is taking her away from him. Luca will stop at nothing to get his mate including hurting those she loves.
Will he have to go to war with her family to get what is his or will he lose his life trying.
We all know that Jason Clarke is incredible. His accents, his deep voice and that growl!! You will be head over heels for him before he is finished uttering is first line. This book though really showcased the talents of Stella Hunter. I was captivated with her Scottish accent throughout the entire novel.
I really do adore this series and am eager to see whose story is going to be next!! I have a feeling I know, and it could prove to be even more enticing than Luca & Ainslee's story.

Two words.....FATED MATES!!!! Fated mates will eat every single time and it's the exact trope that reminds me why I started reading in the first place and Jenika did her big one with this book. I'm trying so hard to pace myself with reading this series but the way Luca showed his whole ass to get his woman back makes me feral for this series!!! And we love a good Luca over here!

So, I did really like this. But strangely, i thought since this one was a full length novel compared to the first one, that it would actually have more story.
This one just added in other POVs that were not needed and made one of the sex scenes 40 pages long. I love the smut as much as the next girl but there wasn't really a conflict or a satisfying resolution to that conflict.
Her family wants to keep them apart, they get together, family falls in line. The end...
So yeah... sexy, fun and spicy but not much to dive into.

This was very straightforward, tbh.
Luca saw Ainslee and realized she's his mate. After that it's basically game over for them. They just had a lot of hiccups along the way because of her overprotective family. Which I somehow understood, seeing as Luca had this reputation of having gone mad. But they all had an idea, or maybe a bit of how fated mates work, so I was partly confused why they were so worried. 🤔
Anyway, this has just gone on too long because even the side characters have their own POVs and chapters. Which I think is sort of an introduction, as they'll be the upcoming leads in the next installments. But yeah, this was fine; it just felt dragging because I really don't care about the thoughts of other people. 🫣
Still, in the end, Ainslee’s family eventually accepted her reality, and they accepted Luca into their fold.

Jenika Snow takes us back to the heart of the smutty shifter/fated mates trope that is such a guilty pleasure. The shifter stories with the instalove, the growly and over the top alpha possessive male and the tiny, innocent, deceptively strong heroine. The stories with the magical find-your-mate moment, an undeniable physical and soulmate bond, that quickly turns into a sensual, obsessive, and erotic connection as they explore their mate bond. Its everything I love about shifter fated mate stories- and here Jenika does it pretty well. The mantra "You Are Mine" is absolutely the mantra of this relationship, and this story- and I love nothing more than a surly, protective, and deliciously sweet mate finally finding his soul's desire. It's just yummy.
Ainslee and Luca are pretty magnetic together- with Luca being the somewhat feral Lycan who has gradually descended into the early phases of madness as he's waited over four centuries to find his mate. His brothers nuptials spark the occasion for cross paths with the young wolf-vampire hybrid Ainslee- a baby when it comes to paranormal years, a reality that has resulted in her being irrationally coddled and protected by her Scottish lycan lord father and her rowdy brothers. None of whom like her being matched to the unstable Luca.
Most of our story centers on the family drama as Ainslee's family obstinately tries to keep Luca away from his mate. Only Ainslee's defiance brings them together- and the mating parts of this book are the best. Together they are both sweet and sexy- wild with need and passion and that ravenous mating connection I love in these books.
For the most part, I really loved this story- it's face paced, super sexy, and wildly entertaining. All the aspects about shifter fated mates I love. The insulated parts of this story- the ones that really focus on our couple are delicious. It's the diversions that didn't work for me- we have a number of POVs from secondary characters, some of which are intended to set up the next book and others that felt random, that just felt like they were stalling the story. It both didn't give us any new information nor felt super relevant to advancing this plot- and were often timed in moments where I was reeling from a large emotional moment. Perhaps had they been shorter, and more focused on a character or two vs. several, I'd find them less diversionary. Similarly, the "conflict"/plot is pretty simple- there isn't ever any tension between our couple, and their family resistance both feels a bit drawn- I kept expecting a legitimate threat to their happiness, and we didn't really get one. That said, I don't need a ton of angst, but since the alternate POVs really focused on that family drama, I just kept waiting for something more climatic.
I am intrigued by the next couple, and I enjoyed the core of this story and the chemistry/relationship elements tremendously, so I'll be checking out the next book. A solid series- even if a few of the narrative choices weren't my favorite.

Perhaps had they been shorter, and more focused on a character or two vs. several, I'd find them less diversionary. Similarly, the "conflict"/plot is pretty simple- there isn't ever any tension between our couple, and their family resistance both feels a bit drawn- I kept expecting a legitimate threat to their happiness, and we didn't really get one. That said, I don't need a ton of angst, but since the alternate POVs really focused on that family drama, I just kept waiting for something more climatic.
I am intrigued by the next couple, and I enjoyed the core of this story and the chemistry/relationship elements tremendously, so I'll be checking out the next book. A solid series- even if a few of the narrative choices weren't my favorite.

His kind, and people from the Otherworld, know that he’s off, they think him dangerous. One night, at his brothers mating party, Luca smells his mate, Ainslee. And immediately tries to take her for himself.
Ainslee is half vampire half Lycan. Neither half of her has risen to be dominant. Ainslee the younger sister to three older brothers, she’s the only girl. Ainslee has been protected and shielded her entire life by her father and triplet brothers. When Luca and Ainslee see each other, Ainslee knows that he’s her mate. She’s not scared like everyone else, but she’s in shock from the intense feelings and the strong desire she has to go to him, to be with Luca. Ainslee’s family, and guests in attendance at the mating party, are successful in allowing Ainslee’s family to escape.

One of Ainslee’s brothers finds his own mate during the escape, but her fathers and brothers refuse to let things go. With her mother’s, Luna, worries about Ainslee, she calls her sadistic cockblock of a brother in to help things, but he decides he’s going to hunt Luca and bring Ainslee back.
Things I enjoyed about this:
- Lucas absolute focus on making his mate happy. Luca’s every breath was for his mate. He thought of her and purchased her gifts when she wasnt around. He made it his personal goal to treat her better today than he did the previous day.
- The smut was bangin!!
Things that I feel were missing:
- Ainslee was a likable character, but I couldn’t tell you two things about her. I know of her family, and what she is, but who is she? What does she like to do?
- I would’ve loved to see Luca and Ainslee in public- Luca being jealous and possessive with people other than Ainslee’s family.
- Since Luca has struggled all those years and he’s been with his brother the entire time, I would’ve loved to see Ainslee and Luca’s brother meet. He’s the only one who could understand Luca and knew that Ainslee was safe with him.
Looking back, this story felt like a long smutty novella. Our characters wanted each other so bad, and the author made us wait half the book to get them together but once they were... it was a smutty readers bliss. There wasn’t much more to the story than that. As a smutty reader I think it hit almost all the basics and I’m here for that shit!

Add in some random people's POVs that I did not care about and this book could have been cut in half.

I really enjoyed this book. Enjoyed the new side characters introduced in this book. Although I wasn't sure about their POV's being included. This book was enjoyable, it just didn't have much of a plot besides the heroines family not accepting the mating. This was full length book, but I felt like the first book which was a novella had more to it.

One of my most anticipated books of 2021!!
If you look through my bookshelf, you can tell right off the bat that I am a Jenika Snow fan. But this is probably one of my favorites that she’s ever written! IT’S SO GOOD! Big Bad Wolf (Book 1) was awesome, so I knew I was going to enjoy book 2. But You Are Mine definitely exceeded my expectations.
LUCA IS EVERYTHING! Gah, I love this character! He’s more than just your typical dominating male. He’s a sigma and seeing him come to life when he finds his mate and the lengths he’s willing to go through to get to her... Is there a stronger word for “swoon”? Because my panties melted, my uterus fainted, and my heart turned into a big puddle of romantic goop.
Nothing and no one will keep him away from his mate and he loves her even before he’s ever laid eyes on her. He treats her like a queen and knowing he only has this softer side just for her is so dreamy. HE’S PERFECT!
Do not discount Ainslee! She starts off as being mild and somewhat meek, which is completely expected for her role in her family. She is constantly surrounded by alpha protectors. But watching her grow and develop her confidence and strength throughout the story is so enjoyable and relatable. This story is just as much her journey as it is Luca’s.
Aside from the characters, the writing is on point-but I expect nothing less from Jenika Snow. Because this book is a little longer than her usual ones, we get a bit more time for a deeper dive into the thoughts of the characters and I’m here for it! Her writing connects you to this book in such a way you feel like you’re experiencing it right along with Luca and Ainslee.
This world she has created is amazing and there is a whole host of side characters we’re introduced to in this story. There’s definitely more coming! We even get a glimpse into the next book in the series and I know it’s going to be just as good. I can’t wait to read it.

I missed Jenika Snow she got me into the hot bite novellas years ago before my son was born. I then started her Man series and I know my life required short stories with high heat , low drama and a chemistry 🧪 that could set the science lab fully on fire 🔥!! Dang this was just as good and feral as book 1 in this series.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, shifter romances Melt.My.Butter! There is just something about these larger than life, alpha AF man beasts that do it for me.
You Are Mine by Jenika Snow is the perfect shifter romance. From beginning to end, this book kept me reading and I loved every growly word that Luca uttered. Ainslee proved to be tougher than she appeared and was the perfect match for the larger than life Luca. There were obstacles to overcome but together, Luca and Ainslee were unstoppable.
