After the unexpected death of his young uncle, Lucian Townsend finds himself the Earl of Hartford. He is met with a surprise at his new estate and has but one uncomfortable conclusion for the stunning lady’s presence. Lucian is at a loss about what to do until a shot is fired. At her. Now, keeping her safe is his sole concern.
On a dangerous treasure hunt...
Emma Wickham is from a long line of treasure hunters. A dangerous business when riches are involved. Or a map is found, leading to loads of gold. Like the one her brother, Sean, and his best friend, Jonah, Lord Hartford, possessed when tragedy struck. Sean is missing, and Emma doesn’t have the funds to form a search. She must swallow her pride and take the new earl’s offer to help.
To locate her missing brother...
On the journey to locate Emma’s brother, Lucian is drawn to the tempting minx. He burns for her, is consumed by wicked thoughts. Why not make his naughty imaginings a reality? He needs an heir, and Miss Wickham needs a protector. A perfect solution. Until she turns him down.
While evading the killer...
Give up her freedom? Never! A husband has rules, makes demands. Lucian would keep her from the thing she loved most. Treasure hunting. But with each fiery kiss, her resolve weakens, and Lord Hartford inches into her heart. Before it’s too late, she must find her brother and leave the tempting new earl. Even if that means setting out on her own. Even if that means falling victim to Jonah’s killer and the trap he’s set.
Amazon bestselling author, Tiffany Green, credits her passion for the Regency-set historical romance to her long-time hero Judith McNaught. Inspired by the structure of old-world society and settings, Tiffany sought to create characters and story lines to challenge that structure with the slightly darker, more sensual voice of Regency Allure. With 4 books from the Secrets and Scandals Series published, Tiffany looks forward to publishing the next book in the series, Lord Rogue. She intends to further test the limits of the Regency genre with more intriguing concepts in 2018.
Tiffany enjoys a quiet, country life with her husband on the live oak dotted acreage of her small Central Texas town. When the opportunity presents itself, she travels to Europe to research settings for her writing and cruises the Caribbean.
An earl falls in love with a stubborn treasure hunter
It started slow for me. I love historical romance and I was looking forward to the book but:
1. They kiss fairly soon, where is the angst? Even just a little would be good. 2. Why, oh why would a good heroine ever kiss a man thinking that he's married? That's just wrong. If you think he's married please back off. It's speaks poorly of the heroine. No one likes cheaters. 3. Why is Samir not worried about proprietary and allowing her to travel alone with a man? 4. I am also not happy that the heroine got kidnapped out of shear stupidity? And that her loyal servant and brother both allowed such stupidity. Ugh! It's like really, what did you expect would happen when you know that bad men are hunting you down? Even after the H told her that had the bad guys not been hunting her down he'd go with her himself.
If you can ignore those points, you will enjoy the book. It has funny parts, the H truly does love the h and it has murder, mystery and plot twists.
I received a free copy of this book and I voluntarily reviewed it.
This book started off at a run! Already in the midst of a full fledged treasure hunt with one man dead and another missing and a woman left wondering what to do. Enter main male character and you have the recipe for an adventure involving near death experiences, disguises, mystery, and passion. I really enjoyed this book!
I received a copy from hidden gems and have voluntarily left this review.
