This is a great all-in-one field guide to take to the Yucatan. Of course, they can't fit in everything when they're trying to cover all of the vertebrates in a pocket-sized field guide, but they chose well --- nearly everything I looked up during our quick visit was included.

This is the perfect all-in-one guidebook for the nature traveller to tropical Mexico, covering both the key natural areas and sights, and serving as a field guide with natural history and species descriptions of major fauna (it does not have much on plant species). I used this book 18 years apart for trips to the Yucatan and Belize - it only covers the natural areas in tropical Mexico, but many of the species are the same in Belize. There are other guidebooks in the series specifically for other parts of Latin America, but (as with this one) they are out-of-print, and hard to find.
