The Rainbow Bee book is a sweet and thoughtfully-illustrated story about a bee who is born looking quite different (with rainbow stripes) into a hive that has never dealt with diversity amongst its members.
"Rainbow not only looked different, but liked different things too."
The authors introduce surprise, conflict and vulnerability in a way that children of all ages can understand and enjoy. Rainbow, the main character in the story, is able to help the hive realize that differences can be beautiful, and should be embraced.
"We're all a little different; some taller, some shorter, some wider, some slimmer, some yellow and black, and some rainbow. But inside we're all the same."
Read for my toddler's bedtime. Rainbow colored bees reminds me of the Ugly Duckling, Red Nose Reindeer, and Oddbird.. the other bees don't accept him because he looks different then the Queen Bee gave him multiple tests and he able to do what the normal colored bees can do..
I am very excited to have found this book. The story is told in such a way that children will think about it while its being read to them, but later they will think about it again later. The action of a great book. The illustrations are whimsical and bright. I highly recommend this book for loving everyone no matter what they look like. Rainbow was named by the Queen of the hive because of his beautiful coloring. She was different in many ways. She liked to drink the nectarof wild flowers. Other bees liked drinking nectar of regular flowers. What did the Queen do when she noticed he was being picked on?
This book had colorful illustrations and was a nice read. My only concern was that it was too similar to books teaching about love and acceptance. Not a book I would distinctly remember, but a nice book. It didn‘t come across as unique enough, but that is only one person‘s opinion.
What a sweet Bee book about a Rainbow colored bee who is looked down upon by the fellow bees of the hive. As it turns out though, while different looking, the rainbow bee is just like them. Our looks don’t define us. Our hearts are what’s most important.
This is an excellent children's book! Fun and easy way to start a topic with children on the subject of loving and accepting all people. Well written in a way that even adults can benefit from the message. Thank you to the authors for writing a book that will inspire many children and people.
This book has an absolutely beautiful story, and it's simple enough for younger kids to understand. It has vivid colors, and simple illustrations. My three-year-old son let me read the whole book, quite an achievement.
BEST BOOK EVER!!!!! My 7 yo boy read this book and enjoyed it! This is a very kind and sweet book. As more books talking about kindness and loving people that are different, hopefully the world will be a kinder place
