Let Freedom Ring: A 40-Day Tactical Training for Freedom from the Devil

Rate this book
Do you ever feel helpless against the spiritual tactics of the devil? Do you look at the world around you and wonder what YOU can possibly do to make things better? In Let Freedom Ring, Fr. Altman, Fr. Heilman, and Fr. Peckman cover forty ways the devil influences our lives. Over the course of this training, you will learn how to cultivate virtues that counteract demonic manifestations; you will train yourself up spiritually, mentally, and physically; and you will become well-versed in effective spiritual weapons that have fallen by the wayside. As “children of light” we are called to put on the armor of God so that we may stand firm against the tactics of the devil (Ephesians 6:11). The tools in this book give us our weapons back and enable us to fight the darkness. We are the Church Militant. We have sat by for too long and passively let the devil build strongholds in our lives — it is time to take up arms. You are not here by accident. God has placed you in this time and place for a divine reason. We need YOU on the battlefield. Perhaps, like Esther, you were born “for such a time as this.”

What an incredible book! The authors did such an amazing job in discussing 40 specific ways in which we can find freedom by investigating our own habits, behaviors, and priorities. The book was a guide to find motivation to stop living for this life alone and to put our efforts in to obtaining eternal life in heaven. As an adult, it helped me realize some of the ways I have squandered time, given in to bad habits, and have been incredibly presumptuous. I intend to re-read this a couple times each year to remind myself that life is a lot simpler than we make it, and to reform myself into being more of the person I was designed to be and less of the shell of a person that has been created through worldliness. This book was also a great tool in helping me to thoroughly examine my conscience and to look at the sacrament of reconciliation in a new light. I read it over the course of 40 days from Ash Wednesday (2/17/21) to Palm Sunday (3/28/21) and as I turned over the last page, I was surprised to find it was printed on 2/6/21 in Monee, IL - less than 10 miles from my home! This was also my first experience in praying the Divine Mercy Chaplet daily. Oftentimes my kids and husband joined in on this. Similarly, I prayed the daily litanies myself and sometimes with them. What a simple devotion it is, and such a great way to start or end a day. I especially looked forward to the litany of humility on Mondays. Throughout the course of reading this book, there were many times I felt prompted to share an excerpt with someone else, and those sharing were always received enthusiastically. I cannot thank Fr. Heilman, Fr. Altman, and Fr. Peckham enough for the time they dedicated in putting this resource together. I believe it really has the potential to make a big impact through those who take on the 40 day task of reading it and participating in it.

This book has a daily routine of prayer and reflection that is powerful yet easy to follow. it only took a couple of days for me to get into the habit of referring to this book first thing in the morning, praying the prayers and letting the message sink in for the rest of the day.

I highly recommend it. Long after you finish this training, you will maintain momentum and continue to say the prayers and feel safe from the devil.
