Rare Find, book #6 in Dale Mayer's Psychic Visions Series.

Tabitha's psychic gift is her ability to communicate with animals. She runs Exotic Landscape, where she tends to animals in need.

She was introduced in Knock Knock, the previous book in this series and this is her story. Something bad happens when she helped someone and Detective Ronin Chandler helps her uncover the danger she's facing.

The psychic phenomena does become a bit confusing at times but it doesn't detract anything major from the storyline.
I do enjoy characters from the previous books interacting in the story....

Oh - my favourite character in this book?? Without a doubt - the green-eyed Tiger

And the cover - stunningly gorgeous!!

I didn't love this one as much as I did book #1, Tuesday's Child but it was still a good addition to a series that I am becoming something like addicted to the stories and characters.

Book 6 in series. Little extreme on the psychic elements, and there were several typing errors. Other than that, it was entertaining, and I am looking forward to Stephen's story.

*bought the Psychic Visions 4-6 bundle*

OOHHH MMYY GOOODDD. I freaking love Mayer's psychic women, so badass and intense but still so vulnerable and cuddle-worthy (sorry). I absolutely loved the MCs and their connection, the fact that they've been at each other for a while now, and how the story started in the middle of their tension. The writing was great and flowed well. I loved reading about Ronin after having read about his twin brother in the previous novel. Tabitha was great, and I loved her connection with the animals. Something very special, that is. I personally found this to be one of the best books in the series.

A definite recommend.

The title is `Rare Find' and that's exactly what this series is. The thought and detail behind this novel is a wonder. The story took me on a journey that was unexpected and thoroughly thought provoking and enjoyable. Tabitha is a sad, isolated and remarkable woman. Ronin is the open minded cop who wants her to trust in him, and when she finally lets him into her world he gets the shock of his life, but who wouldn't when you come face to face with a big cat? It doesn't help that he has a certain reaction to cats in general that isn't particularly pleasant. It's not until he opens up and is honest with himself, and with the help of the wonderful Stefan, does he realize why he has the reaction. The story is so unusual that it left me intrigued and delighted. I'm so looking forward to the enigmatic Stefan's story, I have no doubt that the players from previous books will have a hand in it along with his true destiny? Who knows, but I'm sure it's gonna be fab read, just like the rest of this series.

The psychic world includes animals…

This review applies to the Audible version.

This is the sixth book in the Psychic Visions series that can be read as a stand-alone but you will get more out of it if you’ve read other books in this series.

The care and wellbeing of animals means everything to Tabitha Stoddard who runs an exotic animal sanctuary established by her recently deceased grandfather. She’s always had a unique connection to animals, able to more than just soothe them. Some would call her an animal whisperer. She’s fairly new to the world of psychic abilities in humans from new friends she’s been in contact with and there’s much she can learn from them regarding her own ability with animals but not in time to prevent the situation she finds herself in, someone is calling to her spirit, pulling her to them and with no power to stop the onslaught of emotions from her psychic attacker she’s yanked out of body. Where she finds herself is most surprising. She really wants to help but in order to do so she has to find her way back home.

Being a detective in the real world where things are predominantly black and white Ronin Chandler’s sensibilities have been strained with acceptance of the psychic world in relation to his brother yet his mind is more open than most because of it. He’s been interested in Tabitha for a long time and when break-ins and thefts start happening at her sanctuary he’s there to help her solve the mystery as well as court her but nothing could have prepared him for the realities of the world she lives in or those she calls pets. He has to help her but with a psychic speaking to him within his mind explaining what he’s dealing with it’s rather hard to believe what he’s hearing and he’s overwhelmed.

What a great premise, animals with psychic abilities. Those who’ve owned a pet know that they can feel many of the same emotions that humans do and just as deeply. We’ve all read stories where an animal responded to a need they felt from their owners before being called so it’s not hard to find credible that perhaps they are capable of more. This premise is a natural progression to the psychic theme and it made a great addition to the series.

Both Tabitha and Ronin are very interesting characters. The heroine is untrained and tended to take risks without weighing the consequences to her life but she has psychic friends looking out for her. I loved the hero’s determination to be there for her no matter what he’s faced with. His words/thoughts to himself as he’s trying to deal with this new world he’s confronted with were so amusing. This story was heavy on psychic abilities so suspend your sense of credibility. There’s lots of suspense going on in the real world, there’s more than one mystery, more than one betrayal. The romance was very sweet but was overpowered by the heavy psychic storyline. All in all this was a most enjoyable listen.

The narration was excellent; the words clearly enunciated, well-paced and easy to follow. Caroline Shaffer did a great job of narration using different voices for the numerous characters bringing depth to the reading and which were quite believable for the characters. The only thing that would have made this better would be having a male narrator for male voices and/or male POV’s and a female for the female voices and/or female POV’s.

~I was given a copy by the author in exchange for an honest review.~

Totally unexpected and great, enjoyable read. I am a fan of the paranormal and especially books about psychics, but this one was a total “mindbender” for me. Loved it!

Tabitha is a different kind of psychic. Instead of being able to read people, she reads animals. She has just lost her beloved grandfather and is trying to carry on his legacy at Exotic Landscapes, a haven for animals. She lives there with her trusted companions, Tripod, a three-legged canine, and her exotic white tiger, Tango. She is also taking her relationship with her sexy boyfriend, Detective Ronin Chandler, to the next level. However, she has been the victim of a “psychic attack” just recently. Now, she is experiencing them again…except much more violent. Will her friends and Ronin be able to save her this time?

This is the 6th book in the series, but each one focuses on different characters, but they re-appear throughout other books. I especially loved this book because it was about animals and the special bonds humans form with their animal friends. I love Tabitha’s bond and love she has with Tripod and Tango. It really yanked at my heart! If you’re in the mood for something a bit different but filled with romance, suspense, and the paranormal, give this book and the whole series a try.

Another good one. The one thing I was surprised by was that Ronin and Tabitha were already in a relationship. That never came up in Roman's book. Not a bad thing, just not what I was expecting.

Tabitha's special gift centers around animals rather than people. Running a shelter for exotic animals and the way she was raised would have seen to that, but a bit of a stretch to imagine animals have psychic abilities too. However, the author did do a good job making it work. We hear of animal whisperers, this just takes it to a whole new level. Ronin was a great counterpoint for her. Although involved with others who have gifts too, he was still new enough to be surprised by what he was learning, but also more accepting than Roman was. At least when it came to everyone but himself. It was harder for him to accept that he and Roman shared more than looks, but thanks to Stefan, he came around.

Unlike the other stories, this one had several things going on at once which made it more interesting. The main focus was on the smuggling, but Tabitha was the one link between that and the others issues and it took a while to figure that out. Unlike the other books, who was causing the issues was not so clear. Although at the heart of everything, it always comes down to greed.

Loved the ending where a few of the characters come together and we get a hint into Stefan's book. I've been waiting for him to get his own HEA.

Another great read!!! I think this one is one of my favorites! Tabitha's story was very unique in that she used her psychic abilities to help care for the animals on her reserve. I loved that aspect of the book. The fact that she had an affinity towards felines was just a bonus as I am a cat person!. This book was full of suspense, just enough romance, betrayal, and a hint of mystery that held my attentiom until the very end

We met Tabitha in 'Knock Knock...' her animal refuge is one of Shay's Foundation's benefactors. Ronin is our local detective with his own abilities. There is a lot of attraction between him and Tabitha, as we saw in that book.

Now with the death of Tabitha's grandfather Ronin is even more protective of her. She's also been having headaches since returning from hiding in the ether and having a slow recovery that required hospitalization. I've loved the way animals come to play in these books, they are a way to find peace in their crazy world. In Tabitha's world the animals are both pets and shelter. I wasn't surprised to see her with a massive dog, a three-legged Bull Mastiff named Tripod. Her other pet however, gave me pause, Tango is a very affectionate white tiger. Raised from a cub Tango and Tabitha share a special bond one I'm sure is aided by her gifts.

Ronin is in for a big surprise though, he's never been in her home, they're taking things slow. He does have a problem with cats though, he's going to have to get over it if he wants to continue his relationship with Tabitha. He's at still at work when Stefan calls him to get to Tabitha, that she's been attacked psychically. It took a bit of doing but Ronin makes friends with Tripod and gets Tabitha the help she needs. However, it's Stefan who get her back to herself and home since medically there isn't anything wrong with her.

Ronin was there waiting with dinner, but when Tango roars Tabitha knows she has to introduce Ronin.

It's bad enough for Ronin to get through that but to realize Tango frequently sleeps with her is quite another. He stays the night with her, and when she wakes feeling hunted he's right there. After that he's in her bed, not going to do anything but sleep but her restlessness leads to conversation about him and cats and then to other things.

It's not long after that feeling of being hunted comes back, Tabitha decides to try something and ends up being yanked out of her body to somewhere else. It takes a while but she finally realizes she is inside a large cat. She doesn't know where and that's a problem. She has to find her way back in order to save both of them.

Ronin also figures out his issue with cats, and yes I cried.

This book pulls out all the stops and is extremely emotional. With nail-biting suspense and an unusual twist on the psychic abilities.

I am already starting the next bundle of three.

Psychic Visions is one of my favorite paranormal romance series. They are stand-alone enough that I can enjoy each one individually, but there's enough crossover that you get to know the world and how it works. The world isn't so different than ours, it just has a variety of psychic powers.

Rare Find went a little to far into the psychic abilities for my personal tastes though. We actually meet Tabitha in book 5. A lover of animals, she has a special connection. That special connection is her ability to feel what they are thinking and find out what they need and want to be happy and healthy. This I can believe. But the next step in her psychic development just was a little too much - just barely.

Detective Ronin is a great guy - even if he is afraid of cats - like panic attack afraid. But he's fiercely protective and crazy smart and it's just what Tabitha is going to need. Their romance is an odd one because Tabitha isn't actually present in the real sense throughout part of the book. But this dangerous situation only cements Ronon's feelings for her and insticts to protect her at all costs.

Rare Find was one of the more exciting additions to the series - with a good dose of action compared to some of the others. It was a real page turner that was a good step along the path of the series. I think what really stood out to me in this one was a gathering of characters and ideas from past books that seem to be coming together into something really big coming up.

Tabitha buries herself and her aching heart into her work with the animals at Exotic Landscapes. That works fine until she gets yanked out of her world to help someone in desperate need- problem id she gets a lot more than she bargained for. Detective Ronin Chandler understands secrets as he has some of his own, but when the woman he loves gets into trouble, it stretches his belief system and he struggles to understand how he can help before he loses her. The problem is working out who can be trusted and doing that before it is too late.

I loved this story which had a great mixture of psychic discovery, a murder mystery, a kidnapping and a love story all rolled into one. I loved the way that the various characters communicated with each other and the way that Ronin struggled but still managed to pull himself together and make progress in his own knowledge and psychic skills. Well written and very enjoyable, I couldn't put it down until I had finished it and worked out what was going on.

Animals

This story takes the psychic theme into a different realm, that of animals. What and how do they communicate. Of course there is romance, some intrigue, betrayal and redemption as well. This is the first book that really draws on other characters from previous books, but that is because Ronin is the twin brother to a character from the last book, Roman.

The writing is witty and the psychic story is creative. The multiple threads and players ensured the story kept a quick pace and had me guessing until the end. The ending and the epilogue left me with a huge smile and I can’t wait for Stefans story!

'Miracles cannot always be explained'

Whilst I really like Tabitha and Ronin as characters, and I loved Tango and Tripod, the psychic travelling in this book is a step too far for me. I enjoyed the overall plot and the motivation behind the perp, but Tabitha's 'travelling' was too much.
I did enjoy the twists that were thrown in there, and there are more than one along the way to keep you guessing. I will try the next book in the series but I am hoping it is more iin line with earlier books rather than this one.

Absolutely fantastic story, beautiful, sad and inspiring. Loved the gift this character had and how hard she worked to help such fabulous creatures. Ronin was awesome as he supported her while struggling with his issues, the insight of which was surprising but I could easily empathise. The twists just kept coming right to the very end and I really struggled to put this down at all. Dale amazes and stuns me with how she weaves her stories with suspense, intrigue and powerful insight into the mind and how complex it is, then stretching it beyond belief.

Rare Fiind

I love the Psychic Vision Series. yes I believe there are true Psychics out there but wouldn't it be cool to communicate with animals. I'm not sure if I would want to end up inside one though.

This book had so many twist and turns even I was surprised at some of the bad guys. Some were obvious and others are a surprise. But it always hurts when people you trust betray you.

The relationship with Tabitha and Ronin was not developed for them to know about their everyday lives. Her obsession with the cats, especially the one tiger. For him to have free range of the house and her bed, really. Too much of the story of her being pulled out and into something else, barely alive. This wasn’t one I enjoyed. The others have been good.

This series is a Rare Find!

Do animals have a soul? If they have instinct, could they have psychic connections? If we knew what they were thinking would we understand them, would they understand us? A Rare Find gives us an interesting perspective into relationships with animals, if understanding existed on a two way street!

Too much of Tabitha inside the animal. Not enough time bonding with Ronin. I didn’t enjoy this one I just wanted to be finished so I could read Stefan’s book. I hope it doesn’t disappoint me. I’m hoping he has a good love interest. Let’s hope she’s not obsessed with animals.

Betrayal abounds

Tabitha comes to trust animals over humans. As it turns out she has a very good reason to do that.

A very rare tiger has been captured to be sold to the highest bidder. Tabitha tries to save her and in the process is hurt herself. Ronin has to come to terms with the paranormal to help her and the tiger. Not all of the villains will be a surprise.
