An underworld empire put at risk for one woman - Dahlia Aldridge.

My love for the men of Wildberry Lane had never been in question. But now that I was aware of the true darkness that had always surrounded me protectively? I craved to know more. I wanted the curtain drawn back fully on just how dangerous they were. More than anything? I found myself wanting to be a part of those shadows - branded by their darkness.

Kingston & Dermot Ross. Stratton Lee. Yates Carter. Lincoln & Sterling Gates.

I was no longer scared of how strongly I felt for them. I just hoped they understood the lengths I would go to protect them. Protect the family that I valued above anything else.

The Brooks had been a problem from the start, but now that they were possibly threatening Wildberry Lane? Causing problems for both my men and my family? That changed everything. An inner strength I never expected was growing inside of me and it was one I refused to shy away from.

I would be strong for my family. For my men. But I knew in order to do that, I would need to kill my own demons.

I would need to execute the anguish that had been devouring me whole.

Wildberry Lane - Home to the extremely wealthy and powerful Southern elite.

Execution of Anguish, book 2 in The Shadows of Wildberry Lane trilogy, is M. Sinclair’s debut contemporary reverse harem series. This work features a naive female character hiding a dark secret of her own, the men in her life that will do anything to keep her safe, and a scandal that stretches far beyond the safety of Wildberry Lane’s gate.

Warning: This book does contain sexual content for +18, swearing, violence, and triggers including, but not limited to, eating disorders and bullying. Important to note, the bullying is NOT done by the harem, but rather by outside sources. This is a slow to medium burn series. This novel does end on a cliffhanger.

KEEPS ON GETIING BETTER & BETTER !
Loved the dynamic and progression with Dahlia and her men. I could not put down this book because it was that good. It was great to see representation of characters that struggle with mental health issues; sympathising with Dahlia and her struggles, I wished her only the best. Her men were really supportive and that just makes you love them even more.
As the story progressed, Dahlia finally unravelled some of the guy's deep and dark secrets. That specific Yates scene was hilarious. I can't wait to witness their interactions in future books.
I wished the book's time line extended further than just a couple days. The last chapter was insane. I can not wait for book three to come out in October. M. Sinclair truly has a knack for RH books and I look forward to reading more of her work.

Execution of Anguish is the second book in The Shadows of Wildberry Lane trilogy. Just like it’s prequel, this book was gripping and thrilling. This is a Reverse harem, bully romance( the bullying is not done by the harem) with a cliffhanger which leaves you wanting more!

All the Hs are great(King being my absolute favourite though) and why go for one 6 feet plus, hard abs, dark boi when you can have six 6 feet plus, hard abs, dark bois with a swoon level of darkness! And that’s what Dahlia did! These six guys have taken upon themselves to protect their bunny from the bad guys while simultaneously solving the crime that has rooted itself in their community.

While the book dragged on in some parts, I didn’t mind that! The sex is hot but tastefully done at the same time! Lots of sexual tension and virgin Hs(except for one, I think) and virgin h! I loved the story and while this is my first reverse harem read, I totally enjoyed it! Cannot wait for the last book!

So the first book I gave 3 stars because I felt like it had room for improvement. My biggest turn off was that the female lead was incredibly naive. Yes, the author makes note of it but I just couldn't believe she was THAT naive. I thought ok maybe she'll have a ton of growth over the trilogy and it'll end with her becoming stronger, smarter, more self assured, independent, get a better understanding at how the world actually works and all the other things you want to see for this woman. I'm here for it and it's the reason I wanted to continue with the second book. Unfortunately, I can't say Dahlia grew at all in this book. She went from the bubble she lived in at Wildberry to the bubble the guys are creating for her in the mafia world in Ireland. I was hoping they would empower her a lot more in this book. You do get one little blip of it at about 20% where Stratton wants to teach her some basic self-defense. I thought awesome! This is exactly what should happen. Don't get too excited though. Psychotic Yates come in and ends it saying she doesn't need to learn because that's their job. Eyeroll with me ladies and gents. Don't get me wrong. I love the romantic notion that the men will always be there and save her, but really? It's not a good idea to teach her self-defense? Does Dahlia push it? Nope, just goes along with it. At 56%, surprise surprise, she gets attacked and isn't able to defend herself. This would of been perfect for the author to have her fight off the bad guy and use the self-defense Stratton taught her if Yates didn't interrupt. Missed opportunity.

I think my problem is the fact that Dahlia is someone I don't aspire to be and I don't connect with her at all. I love strong female leads and she's just not it. She's not a great representation of a woman in 2021. What's the purpose of making this character so naive? To have her grow and heal, or to keep her the same at the end? It's stated that the book is a trilogy but I just don't see it all coming together in the next book. There's not only Dahlia's story of anxiety and her eating disorder (which I felt wasn't portrayed accurately) but there's also the gang story, the mafia story, and the people bullying Dahlia story. This book was over the span of only 3 days and nothing progressed. There were 2 sleeps and like 5 naps that happened. Let's hope they are well rested to deal with the last book.

Unkempt Promises...

It's sad when you have six self obsessed, dominating, alpha males that promise to protect the one they love the most in this world and that promise slips right through their hands... Tsk, tsk... You shouldn't make promises you can't keep.. Poor Dahlia, I just hope this latest debacle don't cause her to fall further down her dark rabbit hole...

Well off to book 3 since book 2 left off on a serious cliffhanger! Byeeeeeee

4* ~ A Good Read

Execution of Anguish is the second installment in The Shadows of Wildberry Lane series written by M. Sinclair. This series starts as a captivating slow-burn reverse harem romance and picks up the pace in book two. You will definitely go down the rabbit hole with this series!

Dahlia Aldridge, the FMC, is such a likable and relatable heroine. I was pleased with her character development throughout book two. She became mentally stronger and handled the surprise revelations thrown her way much better than expected. Dahlia continues to struggle with insecurities about her body image and anxiety attacks, but she begins to shed those protective layers she’s surrounded herself with and open up to her men for help.

All of the men in Dahlia’s life are so dreamy. There is Kingston; the alpha fierce protector, Stratton; the brooding sweetheart, Yates; the obsessed alpha-hole, Lincoln & Sterling; the golden retriever twins, and Dermot; the patient one. All of them are extremely possessive, overprotective, and devoted to Dahlia. My absolute favorite is Yates, as he’s a healthy obsessed stalker. I definitely feel like Kingston gets more scenes with Dahlia and wish the twins had more moments with her, but overall, she connects with each male in her harem to build their connection.

There are so many great scenes in this book. We really learn more about each of the men and what the future will look like for Dahlia. This book contains descriptive inner dialogue with different POV’s. The plot is enjoyable and I devoured this book in one night. M. Sinclair is one of my favorite authors and I cannot wait to read book 3!

Tropes: Friends-to-lovers, slow burn, reverse harem, virgin heroine, virgin hero
Heat: 3/5
CW: Eating disorder, mental illness, bullying (from outside the harem), SA (nothing major), violence

Intriguing but very slow

The characters are all really well written and I love their bo d however I do need to ignore the fact they're definitely no older than twenty. However considering this is the second book I do t feel like the pace of the storyis very good. Everything feels really slow and then right at the end something else happens and the next book follows the same pattern

Pick a lane!

Seriously, the author needs to get on with it. Pick a lane and finish the story. If you want to have so many different threats that’s cool, but there needs to be some resolution before switching it up. Seriously just pick a story, tell it then adjust. The characters are good. The general story has potential. But there is just too much going on so the story is too muddled. It needs definition. I doubt it can be cleared out in one book and I do not know how long this series is expected to be but one more like this and I’m done.

One of my favorite things about M. Sinclair’s MFCs is that accept their men for exactly who they are and love them for it. Dahlia is no exception to this! She loves them for their possessive personalities and obsession with her. In turn they love her for everything she is as well. They support her through her at times crippling anxiety and are working with her as she works through her eating disorder. I love how this book delves deeper in the story line of the bullies and gives you glimpses into what life was like for Dermot in Ireland. And that cliffhanger! Waiting for book three is so hard but so worth the wait.

This book is all about discovery for Dahlia. The discovery of how deep the guys love for her runs, their backgrounds, what they will do for her, and how close the darkness is to sweeping her under. One great thing about her story is her issues with eating and anxiety aren’t an easy solve but a struggle as she and the guys work through them. Way more realistic.
That ending though makes me glad the next book is out lol

Next book please. I want to sit the author down and say, woman, that was not ok. That cliffhanger seriously made me anxious for poor Dahlia.

Once again M. Sinclair demonstrated that she writes an excellent storyline. Her characters have such depth that the reader becomes invested. I couldn't put the book down, but at the same time, I didn't want it to end.

3.5 stars rounded up to 4 stars because of how much I enjoy these characters

This series has so much that I really love in my books and esp in RH - friends to lovers, no OW concerns cause they're obsessed with her, innocent/sheltered/naive/sweet FMC, and a strong group dynamic with the guys. I've really liked this foray of M Sinclair's into contemporary and I hope she writes more. I also appreciate that while there are some darker elements to this story, it's not an overall dark book or series.

I enjoyed that this book focused heavily on the relationships of Dahlia and her guys and how those are now changing with her realizations of their feelings and getting her feelings out in the open. I also loved that secrets are now being spoken about so they're all on the same page and moving forward with everything in the open. Plus, how Dahlia reacts to the secrets shared was perfect for what her guys needed. These characters are so well-drawn for each other and I am here for it.

I did wish that there had been a bit more progress on the overall plot of what's happening with their enemies and also on how Dahlia's character will grow with this new awareness of their world. That is the downside of not being inside an author's brain though, we don't always get the full picture til we get to that point in the story. We got some new wrinkles in what's happening with the folks working against our characters, although not the plan on where our group will be going from here. There were also definitely hints of how Dahlia's thought processes were changing, but some of her actions didn't take into account that new awareness. I'm looking forward to how she'll grow more in the next book, while still being Dahlia, which I think M Sinclair will do a great job balancing those out. I truly appreciated how Dahlia's mental health struggles continued to be portrayed and how much support, love, and patience surrounds her.

Suspended reality

So I read the first book and tried to get into this one, but it's not the best. This book is heavy with internal monologue that had me skipping through chapters at a time. I could not connect with any of these characters or the storyline.

The fmc was extremely naive to the point that it became frustrating and annoying, far from cute. She had no real personality. I felt the author tried to give her substance with the eating disorder and anxiety, but it fell flat to me. She had no endearing qualities. I was honestly sick of how much they carried her around like she was an infant. A couple of times was cute, and then it became too much. She was way too dependent upon the boys. She had no friends, no life outside of them. It was just not relatable.

The male characters are all fresh out of high school and supposedly these big, bad, intimidating men. It just wasn't believable. Their fathers are running multi-million dollar enterprises, which they're suddenly now in charge of, with absolutely no experience. Oh, and throw in all the international influence they have for absolutely no reason, lol.

The plot was thin. It takes forever to get through a single day or event because of the huge chunks of inner thoughts by each character. There is actually very little dialogue, just tons and tons of full page paragraphs. I skimmed through most of the book just to get to the end.

I don't plan to read the third book because it's not my cup of tea. I will say if you're able to suspend reality and take the book as it is, you may enjoy it. For me, as a 30 year old woman, I just could not do it.

So. Freaking. Good.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Ugh I absolutely loved this next instalment of Dahlia and her men, she was the first read for me for M Sinclair and I’ve been in a spiral of her work ever since whilst waiting for this book to come out!

I absolutely still love Dahlia and her possessive caring men, it is so refreshing reading a friends to lovers book who are all completely obsessed with their girl. Lincoln really surprised me in this book in a heck of a good way, I mean, hello who knew he had that side to him!? Step over King and Yates! In all honesty though I am obsessed with all of her guys and am so looking forward to their relationship progressing in the next book.

I’m also looking forward to Dahlia’s journey of self worth and rediscovering herself, she’s so strong with everything she’s already faced and I think this discovery of who her men really are will change her but make her stronger.

I also want to thank M Sinclair because *SPOILER* it was so amazing to read that not only was it Dahlias first time but also theirs, I’ve read other friends to lovers where the guys had been with other girls for one reason or another but knowing that her guys who she grew up with haven’t done that because they’re so obsessed with Dahlia adds to their character and strengthens that bond further!

However.. that cliffhanger!! Ms Sinclair I literally had a moment of what on EARTH after the way that ended and October can’t come soon enough. Literally. I’m going to be wishing away the rest of this year!

I have fallen deep into the rabbit hole with this story. I love this series and these character so flipping much! Their love, devotion, even obsession with Dahlia causes a small thrill to run through me. The darkness and light they each exhibit, even Dahlia is so all-consuming. Dahlia and each of her men are so utterly unique, their personalities so completely them making all of the interactions amongst them so special.

I loved that this book explored more of Dahlia’s relationship with each of her men and I love how secrets were exposed and that the bonds between all of them only grew stronger for it. There is absolutely no denying the chemistry between Dahlia and her men. It’s an absolutely intoxicating chemistry that can’t be ignored (not that I’d ever ignore such intense, sexy chemistry)!

More than anything, I loved seeing Dahlia completely accept each and every one of her men exactly for who they are. She didn’t run scared when things got tough or complicated. She took everything in stride, despite her own internal struggles, and became exactly the Queen she is!

I flipping love this series so much! I’m completely obsessed with these characters. Their darkness and their light is so intriguing. There are so many sides to each one of them that you can’t help but grasp onto every little detail like it’s finding a little slice of treasure.

After that ending...I need Book 3 ASAP! But I know Book 3 will be well worth the wait!

This is book 2 of our Wildberry lane Trilogy and our adventures with Dahlia and the guys. Just like the first, this book captivated me and I loved every second of it.

This book is everything I wanted after the first book. We get to really see the darkness that the guys hold and how far they will go for our girl. I am also happy to say that Dahlia is now aware of and happily enjoying our guys and their relationship..which of course for us means some more yummy steam.

We get to watch as our guys secrets..mainly those of King and Yates come to light and Dahlias dedication to them regardless. It cements their bond for this book and the next. We also watch as Dahlia finally starts to lean on the guys for her mental and eating struggles. A lot of us struggle with mental health, and we all have experienced things within that struggle. To watch an MFC come to the realization of her struggles and ask for help is probably one of my favorite things about this book. It shows her true strength and the guys true love with how much they accept and want to help her without pushing her.

Events in this book amp up as the boys and Dahlia travel after some unfortunate things are done to her to escape the media and we are left on a huge cliffhanger (good thing the final book is out in 3 days). However, we know our boys will go down fighting for our girl and let me tell you...ill be reading the last book on release day.

Execution of Anguish is the second book in the Shadows of Wildberry series and it does not disappoint!! Just like the first book, you get hooked really quickly and you do not want to stop. The twists and turns in this book will have you reeling from book-whiplash!

Dahlia is the sole focus of her six men and they pledge to love her and protect her no matter what. Unfortunately, things don't always go to plan and that is what we have to deal with in this book. Dahlia has been largely sheltered from not only her family's business but those of her guys, sadly because of that we do find that she is left severely open to attack. This book explores and explains more of the business side and what makes her guys tick. We also learn more about each individual male in the harem and are able to get to know them more as a group. There is plenty of action-both good and bad- and you will be begging for book 3 by the end of this one!

Again, we get some fantastic descriptions and storytelling. The words flow really well over the page and you can imagine everything happening as if you were there. The twists and turns in this part of the series do take you by surprise, which is great as it means it's not predictable! The themes are still dark, and you do really feel for Dahlia in certain situations. I did find myself rooting for her and the guys to pull through. This is certainly another fantastic read from M Sinclair and I can not wait to read the next book!

I am out of words for praise for this storyline...
Damn...I cried so much for my beloved Dahlia and her men...I love how Dahlia has her health issues...makes her seem so relatable. She is a strong FMC...and her men know it!

I just love Dahlia and all her men. I think Dahlia is a very interesting FMC. Her anxiety is something I can relate too and I like how even though her anxiety can be crippling, it doesnt make her seem weak. It makes her seem like a real person. I love how all the guys are supportive of her and will do anything to help her. They are aware of her issues and support her in the way she needs them too. They all know she is stubborn and protective of them so they allow her to be strong and stubborn and find ways to help her without making her feel bad about it. I really enjoy the storyline of this book, even after reading book 2- I still feel like there is something mysterious going on- like we dont have the full picture yet. It has a mafia feel to it which I enjoy that genre so it suits me fine. I really love M Sinclair's first dive into contemporary RH and I would say this series is a must read.

I have been waiting for this book to be released and let me say that M. Sinclair never fails me. So Dahlia and her men are back. So the boys are trying to get her to talk about her issues. She is also coming to terms that the guys want her. There is no one else. The guys are still dealing with the whole Ian situation. Even though Dahlia seems meek and a bit submissive at times, she is definitely determined to do what she wants. Regardless if it may put her in danger. She does struggle with her body image and hopefully the guys can change that for her. There are other things that go on through out this book. What I love the most is the emotions put into each character and how they compliment each other. We see the guys working together and at the same time showing Dahlia that she is a Queen. This series has a lot of depth and will make you feel the pain with each character. I cannot wait to see what will happen next.

Dahliaaaaaaa♥️

What a read!!! Book two was good- a little short compared to book one which I was a little disappointed by, but man did it leave me wanting so much more from Dahlia and her men♥️ The steam level in book two was caliente🔥🔥🔥 and I can’t wait for book three to be even steamier!!! Amazing writing by our girl M. Sinclair. I just can’t help but feel that we can definitely get a book four out of their story. I feel like there’s so much more of this story to be told. I’d love to see this group in the future with babies♥️ But for now- that cliffy was so frustrating!!! I can’t wait to get my claws on book three and here’s hoping it longer than book two maybe even combine a book four into three so we get a really long read!!! I would love that. For now I’ll console myself with re-reading until book three comes along. Bravo!!! this is a must read guys!!! Pick this story up and be prepared to sink deep into Wildberry Lane!

Holy crap!! This book was amazing! In this book you really see Dahlia and her males strengthen their relationship and bonds. I really find it interesting to read Dahlia’s struggles with her food disorder and anxiety and her thoughts about her men. Even though she has problems and struggles, she can always count on her men. Dahlia was not even phased about their shadows and demons once those were revealed, if anything it made her love them more.

Dahlia is the sunshine and innocence to her males darkness and terrors. I just really liked this book. But that cliffhanger!!!!? Holy crap that was not fair or nice of Sinclair to do!!! I want book 3!

There was multiple POVs
Males: Kingston, Yates, Stratton, Lincoln, Sterling, and Dermot.
Sexiness: 4 out of 5. It really picks up in this book because Dahlia now knows she doesn’t have to choose and can be with all of them!

This review is of my own opinion.

4.25 - 4.5 stars.

compared to this, the first book feels very introductory and almost like a very long prologue.
this second book was like the story had finally begun. so much more romance than in the first book! so much happening and yet it doesn't feel rushed! i liked this one a lot more than the first book.
also, i looove that the heroes are virgins. they fell in love with the heroine when they where kids but i know authors who don't really care about that and make the heroine a virgin while the heroes sleep around despite being in love with the h. so im super happy that that wasn't the case here!

my only issue is with the writing style. the parts between the character interactions are too thought-heavy, too wordy. paragraphs and paragraphs of descriptions, and repetitive observations and reflections. i found myself skimming a bit in between the character interactions. but all the interactions are gold. id prefer the book be shorter with less descriptions/reflections.

🌶️ = 3 (first spice scene at 33%)
⭐️ = 4

The second book was much better than the first one. If you’re here for heavy spice, you won’t find that in the first two books at least - I’m starting the third so that’s still tbd. Although, this book did have actual scenes and more emotional connections! The plot was still not as great as it could have been but again, much better than the first. For it being shorter than the first book, I feel like we learned more in the second in terms of what’s going on behind their mysterious family and the love connections between Dahlia and her six fellas. I just feel like there’s something missing that could make these books really pop. I’m a sucker for childhood friends to lovers which is why I chose this series and their love for each other really is super sweet in this second book. Yes, Dahlia is still very naive and struggling heavily with her eating disorder in book two.

Looking forward to what happens next, what a cliffhanger!

M. Sinclair really nailed it with this book! Dahlia and her boys are finally (for the most part) all on the same page and this book primarily focuses on the developments between them and it does not disappoint!! While Dahlia is still struggling with some very real and important body and mental issues, her relationships with her men are vital to her and really continue to help pull her out of her “attacks” and when she gets stuck in her own head. We are definitely left with wanting more despite all the amazing scenes and progress our characters have made together. Let’s be honest, we will probably always want more, amiright? M. Sinclair writes the most fulfilling relationships for our characters and they are tough to leave behind. Luckily for us we have book 3 on the horizon so no worries there! But yeah.... that cliffy... why you gotta do us like that?! 😭😂

In this part of the series secrets are revealed and we get to see Dahlia come to understand the world that she unknowingly became a part of. We see her love and loyalty through her unwavering faith in her guys.

We see her have some internal struggles with not only dealing and understanding the guys secrets but also sharing her own. We see real conflict and pain when she needs to tell them parts of herself that she is ashamed of. And we see their love for her come through when they find out.

I love seeing the relationships between Dahlia and the guys growing into more than their "friendship" and Dahlia finally catching up to where the guys already where.

We also learn that while the guys love Dahlia and want her in their lives that not everyone agrees. Their love for her puts her in danger and is also what can hopefully save her.

That cliffhanger though. Ugh not cool lol

I enjoyed this! I love how M writes her psycho guys and how obsessed they are with their girl. This series already has that in spades. I love that they see Dahlia as perfect despite her internal struggles with an eating disorder and anxiety. It’s nice to see an fmc dealing with these issues.

I have to thank M Sinclair for writing a best friends to lovers where the guys waited for their girl. It’s so rare to find and to be quite honest, i would’ve dropped it solely for this reason alone had it not been true! It really fit with their characters and how much they love her to do so.

I felt like this one still had less internal monologue than others of hers so far, but i still wish there had been a little more action earlier on in the plot. That cliffhanger though, i can’t wait to see what’s to come!
