The beginning of a new chapter of love, sacrifice, and death. Let the manga adaption begin!
With Rem being in a catatonic sleep and Crusch losing her memory Emilia and Subaru return to Roswaal's manor after all of the events from the last chapter of the story. Upon arriving we get to meet the half-beast Frederica Baumann who has returned to service after Ram called her back to service while she and Roswaal took citizens from their realm to a sanctuary after news of the witch of sloth cult invaded their lands. Before leaving for the sanctuary themselves we also get to see Petra has taken on the mantle of a maid in service of Roswaal (though honestly I think it is her crush for Subaru that really inspired her to service) and Subaru has a discussion with Beatrice showing she is no stranger to emotional reactions and also that she had at least a minor connection to the former Archbishop of Sloth, Petelgeuse Romanee-Conti.
Do you like new characters because they are still coming as Emilia and Subaru make there way to the sanctuary realizing Roswaal, Rem, and the others should be back by time they returned themselves. Are you curious about the woman on the back of the book that looks remarkably like Emilia? Subaru gets a chance to meet her at the beginning of the book in full color and later on after arriving at the sanctuary and yes she does appear to be a witch but not like Satella, the witch of greed and not exactly alive considering the nature of the sanctuary origins. We also get to meet another half-beast named Garfiel whom Frederica warned the two of them about earlier but with question coming up with the stone they took with them to the sanctuary questions of who to trust are already starting to come up. It is a new chapter and our heroes will have to stand against all new dangers so let us hope they also have new allies as Rem continues to feel the effects of her Sleeping Princess condition.
So I binged this up to Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-, Chapter 4: The Sanctuary and the Witch of Greed Manga, Vol. 4, the series itself is a bit of a slow start as this volume and second is mainly building up the arc. There is a ton of exposition so if that's not for you, then maybe something else will be? Also this is the fourth arc in the series whilst it's a decent jumping on point I would at least suggest reading Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-, Vol. 1: Chapter 1: A Day in the Capital (manga) which is a 2 volume series and sets up everything. Being that this features a character that is integral to this I'd say it's a must read. The other series, maybe not as I've skipped them and I had no problem understand this with just knowledge of the Chapter 1 story.
It does get really good in volume 4 and 3 is a major step up but as I said you have to get there first.
